51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: After reinstall thru FT, game wont load. Please help! on: 2008 October 06, 12:06:41
Some NoCD cracks only circumvent SecuROM protection. Those may still require the CD/DVD contents to be loaded into a virtual drive.

Try to find one that doesn't need the CD/DVD at all.
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Newspaper Delivery on: 2008 October 01, 10:47:58
I buyable-ize the papers and just bury 3 someplace right off the bat. This keeps the annoying newspaper-12 from ever spawning in my game at all, so I have one less junk character clogging up my send-to-uni menu and game files! Also, I hate kids. And death to Emma!

The un-awesome masses beg for a "spawn newspapers" action in the lot debugger.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Support the Evil Empire! BUY STUFF! - updated info within on: 2008 September 29, 13:23:41
Finally, the stuffs have arrived. Smiley

The mousepad looks okay, but my goodness it smells! It must have spent a week and a half inside some dampy container, packed in a cardboard envelope, so it must be washed ASAP.

The FFS shirt also appears devoid of any defect, and the fact it was delivered in an airtight plastic container provided some comfort to my battered olfactory senses.

I know, the shipping alone may have increased my carbon footprint by a factor of 10, but it was all for the greater good. Grin

It's called "Pollination Technician", and SimPe 0.72 puts it in the "Uneditable" list. You just have to look in the Sim Description tree for that name.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 11th hour rally call for SimPE testing on: 2008 September 24, 18:07:16
Quote
it is only visible only to ZipGenius
You're not extracting the whole rar/zip, you're just viewing the contents of that rar/zip file.

When you double-click the SimPe file within ZipGenius, the executable is extracted alone into a temporary folder. Attempting to execute that file results in a crash, due to the lack of the remaining files.

Thanks to Inge, you don't have to worry about this anymore. Wink

I'll keep you updated as to when the evil ROOTKIT COMPUTER VIRUS doesn't allow me to anymore.
[...] I'll also let you know when the evil BACKDOOR TROJAN doesn't allow me to back up my harddrive onto my backup HDDs.

* Hanlon's razor shreds hyperbole to bits.

Now, it appears that a serial key will only give you one Spore account, as stated in this article. And that instead of correcting it in a patch, EAxis intends to correct the manual that says otherwise! Roll Eyes

PS: Link craftily chosen for creature pic. Wink

57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Streamlining load times - is this possible? on: 2008 September 10, 14:52:01
Tizerist is asking for automation of TS2 executable functions, probably accomplished by hooking into the LUA host, if that's even possible.

Frankly, you have better chances if you ask EAxis to make a Sims2Launcher with actual usefulness. :/
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: VOTE! The MATY and PMBD design contest runs until Sept 16, 5pm Malaysian on: 2008 September 09, 10:21:15
The Flying Fish gives me the heebee jeebees so I can't have that staring at me.

A friend of mine had a relative that wouldn't eat fish, because he said the fish (dead, in a plate) was looking at him!

But look it this way: if you want MATY, you'll have to eat your pescado. Cheesy

Here are my votes:

Edit by moderator: you really don't need to direct link the images here.  Anyone who still needs to see them can click on a link.

Edit: Oops, the poll already had links to the images Tongue

I haven't even played Apartment Life. Spore just owns too much. My actual copy arrives today and it will be grand.

Bundled with SecuROM and activation schemes, what more could you ask for?

And if you're willing, you may add your review of the product: http://www.amazon.com/review/product/B000FKBCX4/ref=cm_cr_pr_helpful

61  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: New fields for AL on: 2008 August 29, 14:20:19
That's easy to see though, since it's formatted as xml.

We only need samples of GZPS, XTOL, etc from AL packages (or created by AL BodyShop), and see if there's anything new.

I'm just interested in knowing if new fields might create incompatibilities, like the one in Pets BodyShop. Wink
62  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: New fields for AL on: 2008 August 29, 14:05:38
Are there any new fields for Property Set resources?
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: help needed with default eyes- still needed on: 2008 August 28, 15:13:32
Enlarging 128² images will also result in a blurry mess.

But on that same TXTR there should be a field named "LIFO Reference". The bigger texture can be found in the LIFO resource with that name.

And yes, the LIFO is probably in another Sims0#.package file. Wink
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: help needed with default eyes- still needed on: 2008 August 28, 09:53:21
When you reach the "Build DXT" step, try using just one level. Thus, you'll end up with only one version of the image, which should ideally be 1024×1024.

Grammar Police never stops weilding its authority!

If you guys need pirate-like fonts for the designs, there are a few of them here: http://moorstation.org/typoasis/pirates/index.htm. Some of them include custom graphics (aka dingbats), but there may be some copyright restrictions to its use.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fighting and Queue Stompage on: 2008 August 27, 13:18:50
My scenario is a bit worse: two of my Secret Society students hate each other, and always begin fighting after playable is dragged to the secret lot. It was funny to watch the first 0.8 times, but now I curse the day I first made friends with SS students.

Perhaps the Autonomy Controller can provide some relief...

Also, if anyone wants me to, I can try to update the Retar-doh card.
* Theo votes for a Retar-doh poster.

I don't have any skillz for making an image to submit...but what about shirts/bumper stickers/etc. with a pair of ripped lips?

One could use SaraMK's icons, but the extracted images are too small for printing purposes. Perhaps ray-tracing the icons and enlarging the resulting image could do the trick.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Support the evil empire! Save a kittun! Give us money! on: 2008 August 20, 22:03:55
So I don't mind to donate as I download tons of stuff from here but it would be cool to get a title or something.  Can someone elaborate exactly what you get and for what donation levels?

It's probably the same as of yesteryear: http://phorum.mustnotbenamed.com/index.php/topic,358.msg14447.html#msg14447

And if you're lucky, there won't be any price inflation in awesomeland. Wink
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Arrred games? on: 2008 August 18, 14:42:49
Prescription: Turn off UPnP on your router.

Unfortunately, that's not always an option -- my DirecTV HD DVR connects to the computers to play audio and video files, but it fails to function if UPnP is turned off in the router. (Or more specifically, the video/audio sharing on the PCs fails if UPnP isn't enabled.)

Since the attacks are delivered through scripts in Flash, it's a good practice to whitelist your script-enabled domains. Again, either FlashBlock or NoScript won't display Flash objects in non-whitelisted sites.
71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Arrred games? on: 2008 August 18, 10:27:28
A Flash script can easily hijack your router, if you have UPnP enabled.

http://www.informationweek.com/news/personal_tech/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=205800419

Prescription: Turn off UPnP on your router. Disabling Flash is also a good policy; if you use Firefox, install the FlashBlock extension, or other equivalent.
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Card opinions on: 2008 August 13, 09:09:29
I don't know how much just the processor is off hand, but the entire build was quoted to me at $615 CDN.
That's not bad at all. Mind you that my setup didn't include a monitor, DVD writer, and not even a computer case, mainly because I already had those items beforehand. It could have been cheaper, if I hadn't lost my head over the €181 graphics card Wink
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Card opinions on: 2008 August 12, 17:21:46
That E8400 is a sweet processor, isn't it?
Yeah, it was the best choice for my budget, since its price has been cut quite considerably.

After my old computer went kaput, I had to buy this processor, an Asus P5KE, 2Gb DDR2, a 250Gb SATA2 drive, and an XFX Geforce 8800GTS, all for under €500

It's clear this is a mid-range setup, but it's enough to play Freetime, with little to no drag, although loading times haven't improved that much.
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Card opinions on: 2008 August 12, 10:04:57
How much is the processor going to cost you? For comparison, I bought my 3.0GHz Intel (E8400) for around €120.
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: You could meet Pescado in a dark alley with a suitcase full of cash, or... on: 2008 August 11, 13:41:56
I ask again. What the fuck is wrong is opening an international bank account?
Perhaps because he'd be forced to reveal his identity? Then maybe he needs a figuredhead, perhaps bribing a local bum with MATY mugs, and then use his data. Cheesy
