1  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean Uberhood (Merged EAxis neighbourhoods) - NOT the same as HP's/Mixreality's on: 2010 March 28, 01:49:51
Is packaging 5 families and moving them to the clean uberhood a VBT?

That works.  Baaaaaa.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Magazine subscriptions on: 2009 July 13, 07:26:40
Is there a hack that stops the magazine offers?  They're about to drive me out of what little mind I have left.
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apocalypse! How many are left? on: 2009 July 13, 07:05:32
Haven't even bothered arrquiring TS3.  The reports here and elsewhere indicate that it's just not that interesting.

Still plodding along in TS2, where for the first time I've actually gotten an entire neighbourhood and sub hoods into their third generation without either getting bored and starting from scratch or being bugged into oblivion by a new EP (yes, JM, I need to make more backups).

This is me, except I'm only on a second generation.
5  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Macro Control: Macrotastics on: 2009 July 04, 23:11:01
Macrotastics - Clean is causing my sims to tinker with a garbage disposal repeatedly.  I see Zazazu had the same problem back on page 8.  Is there any way to fix this or should I just keep watching for it?  Thanks.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: scope room? on: 2007 July 29, 22:28:43
I have both ACR and the romance mod.  It was very interesting.  If I were a better scientist, I would've taken screenshots and such.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: scope room? on: 2007 July 29, 04:22:21
Right, I knew the definition of gaydar, I must've gotten confused with all the check outs I was running on both sims to try and figure out what the problem was at the time.  Anyhow, I finished running my experiment, and based on the results, and Scope Room and Check Sim Out both use gender preferences for the active Sim.

I used six sims, three of each gender, one gay/bi/straight.  They were all either Aries or Taurus, with the Aries being 56653 for personality and the Taurus being 55663.  They all had family aspiration.  Turn ons were set to makeup and costume makeup.  All sims wore makeup and costume makeup.

Using ACR, I set sims A&B to het, C&D to gay, E&F to bi.  Sims A, C, and E were female, sims B, D, and F were male.

Results:
Scope room and check sim out were the same.
A&B showed only each other as hot.
C showed all female sims.  D showed all male sims.
E & F both showed all sims.

Therefore, when my female het sim A checked out same sex female gay sim C or female bi sim E, even though they have the exact same chemistry makeup as the male sim B, C and E, both female, showed up as not interesting.  A just shook her head rather than having any X, though.

HOWEVER.  Interestingly enough, the UI DOES have gaydar, as on the relationship panel, male bi sim F only showed hetero sim A, gay sim D, and bi sim E as three bolts, even though scope room showed ALL of the sims as glowy and F actually popped up with B as the sexiest sim there, but when you go to the relationship panel, no bolts at all.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: scope room? on: 2007 July 28, 22:17:53
I micromanaged a het couple into (what should've been) 3 bolts for each other, except one of them had been set as high gay by ACR.  And he was hard-rejecting her all over the place until I realized what the problem was.

He would scope room and only find men, but check her out and he was farting hearts.  AFAI remember, anyway.

So, this leads me to believe that for some reason, check sim out doesn't use gaydar and scope room does.  I should run some tests for confirmation.

Cats will watch the fish tank, too.

I heard that dogs will play with the water wiggler, but I don't currently have any in my game, so need to check that out.
10  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Uni+LS Career LTWs on: 2007 July 17, 21:50:48
OK, I've now fulfilled two LS career LTWs and they do not grant perma-plat NOR did they roll off the sim once want was achieved.  Functionality of LTW = LOW.

I toggled it on with the lot debugger, but then had to manually reroll.  Felt cheaty.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims Keep Stealing my Dog's Food! on: 2007 July 10, 15:23:16
Why not just give the toddler its own bowl? Then you won't have to even get it bottles. I am currently exploring this as a feeding method for the baby controller.

I would love this.  It's so much handier to just let the toddlers eat the dog food.  I thought it was gross, but I'm a convert.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Macro/call not calling some friends on: 2007 July 08, 21:11:10
Pescado, am I correct in thinking that it works as:
IF STR -9 > LTR
THEN LTR +9
on a daily loop?

I would've thought it was an averaging, but obviously not.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Creating a Custom Name List on: 2007 June 17, 15:44:09
Since his mother's family was of higher status than his father's, he chose to be known as Cabeza de Vaca. My source suggests that Hernando de Soto would have been known to his contemporaries as Soto. From this, it is not clear whether Juan Ponce de Léon would have been known as Ponce, as Léon, or as Ponce de Léon.

AFAIK, everything you stated was correct up until this point.  Hernando de Soto's last name was de Soto.  This isn't a good example of typical Spanish name progression.  He would have been known to his contemporaries as "de Soto."   It's like "van Allen", two words, one last name.

I personally have never seen or come across anyone choosing the matrilineal name (i.e. Leon vs Ponce), so that may be extremely rare.  It is very, very common to keep the father's name and just be, for example, Juan Ponce. So Juan Ponce de Leon MAY have been Juan Ponce to his friends, and Ponce de Leon to anyone else.

I say "may" because it's extremely, extremely, EXTREMELY rude in Spanish speaking countries to drop any part of a person's name, unless you've been invited to call them by their first name or you know which last name they prefer.  Spanish surnames were formerly formed as Father's-Last-Name Mother's-Last-Name, but then some people, depending on the area, formed them Mother's-Last-Name Father's-Last-Name (i.e. in the USA, it was much more common in the 20th century to have two middle names than to have two last names, thus the Latinos trying to fit their customs to the culture gave their children the mother's maiden name as part of the middle name).

Some people are fine with just being called Sr/a. Father's-Last-Name (problem is, you can't tell by looking which last name is the father's last name), some would prefer Sr/a Father's Last Name Mother's Last Name (although this is considered very formal) and for women, it can get tricky once they're married.

For example, my mother's full legal name is now Sherry Lynn Her-Father's-Last-Name Her-Mother's-Last-Name de My-Father's-Father's-Last-Name My-Father's-Mother's-Last-Name.  It's considered acceptable to abbreviate it to Sherry Lynn Her-Father's-Last-Name de My-Father's-Father's-Last-Name, and I believe that's what is on her passport.  Can't be sure, may be the full formal one.  My last name happens to be formed as My-Father's-Father's-Last-Name*HYPHENATED*My-Mother's-Father's-Last-Name, if you are wondering.  If I chose to continue this, my surname would become My-Father's-Father's-Last-Name de Whoever-I-Married, and the kids would have surnames of Whoever-I-Married My-Father's-Father's-Last-Name.

This is, again, why everybody gets called senor or senora.  If they like you, they'll invite you to call them by their first name in fifteen seconds anyway, if they don't or it's a formal occasion, you can't go wrong with senor or senora.

Patch 2 for seasons!
o Sim Babies no longer cry excessively

Holy shit, it may be worth getting just for that.

Then don't just yet.
They pulled another Maxis:

Crying babies un-fixed with Patch 2

Yep, we know. We goofed. Also toddlers and babies waking up too fast. It's basically the same fix that affects both things. We'll update the patch, re-build, test, and re-post as soon as we can. Sorry, guys.

AHAHAHAHAH.

Now I'm glad I didn't bother with the patch.

Even though I'll have to probably reinstall seasons to get the patch to work.

What... the...

Although the age difference between William and myself was extreme, I took the position that we are going to be married for 50 years.  It doesn't matter that much.  My anthropological position was that the peak for sexual appetite in the male is 17, while that for the female is 34.  I suspected that this was because we females could not be easily drawn from the water.  We probably also didn't like transforming from standing on our toes in the water, to standing on our feet on dry land.  So eventually it became necessary to invent high-heeled shoes.  But I still think we would all like to return to our baths.

By the way, she's talking about Prince William.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid Maids Won't Compost on: 2007 June 07, 14:06:20
Thanks very much.  I was hoping there was Awesomeness I had overlooked, but fences around the garbage can and/or MTS2 will have to do for now.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Stupid Maids Won't Compost on: 2007 June 07, 13:34:53
Is there any way to get my maids to compost instead of trashcanning all of my garbage?  (Consisting mostly of dirty dishes, as per Pescado's excellent suggestion, I have no dishwasher or trash compactor or sinks anywhere in my houses anymore.)

If the garbage can is kicked over by a furious sim, do the maids compost instead?
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: V. Dumb Question: How do I put a custom sim into a hood? on: 2007 May 29, 20:20:55
THANK you.  Like I said, I know it was a stupid question, but sometimes the easiest stuff in the game takes the longest time for me to figure out.  Ironically.

(After Nightlife came out, I spent about half an hour in game trying to figure out where they'd stuck the damn driveways.)
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / V. Dumb Question: How do I put a custom sim into a hood? on: 2007 May 29, 20:02:57
This question is so dumb I've been searching for about an hour trying to find an answer anywhere, but you can imagine the kind of results "sims 2" "custom sim" hood brings back.

Okay.  So I've downloaded some madeupanimals, uncompressed, double clicked the .sims2pack file, and the installer claims they are good to go.  So I load game, go into my custom hood, and there are no new people in the people area.  (There should be a better word to describe this, and there probably is, but I can't think of one and hopefully you know what I'm talking about.)

What am I doing wrong?  I'm sure it is super simple but this is driving me up the damn wall.

22  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti-Foodnapping Hack on: 2006 January 18, 10:58:57
Thank god.  I swear, yesterday my sim was foodnapping when her hunger was at 5 and her energy was at 21.  I wanted to reach through the screen and shake her to wake her up.

But there are no apparent warnings of swimming-pool-related terror.

Now I have this image of a popup on the right-hand side of my vision every time I get in a pool saying "An omniscient being has removed the ladder.  You will now float here until you die."
24  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2006 January 08, 14:04:31
They lack the mental fortitude of doing so and simply exist from one moment to the next by suckling the teat of those who will.

I might hazard a guess that because of your subject matter, a lot of the people downloading it are underage and thus may be far more annoying than would otherwise be the case.  For some reason there's nothing quite like an annoying preteen/teenager to make me, at least, want to go on a homicidal rampage.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Score Extra Date Points with Sims' Favorite Foods on: 2006 January 08, 13:51:43
Controlling and fulfilling your date's wants isn't hard.  You can get them to re-roll with "do you like what you see".

What!?~  I think this is the real tip here...  "Do You Like What You See" rerolls a date's wants?  Awesome.
