51  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Broken bodyshop and CAS previews on: 2009 January 11, 10:55:47
It's when a default replacement gets deleted in bodyshop or CAS, or otherwise in game that can cause it to go splodie. When default replacements meshes are in your downloads folder, it shows with a custom content star and allows you to delete it. Have you deleted anything from CAS or bodyshop lately?

I thought I'd throw this in here since I think I have a similar issue -- can deleting a default replacement mesh also cause "floating head' syndrome where the clothing becomes totally invisible?  Since cleaning out my downloads folder the base game Maxis AM+EM pajamas have gone this way, and I did used to have a default replacement mesh for them....

This could also be accomplished with invisible recolors of counters/tables/OMSPs/etc.

Fire-breathing toddlers?
The original L&P promotional videos Maxis made for TS2 had fire-breathing toddlers in them (among other things that never made it to the game). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkxO2hrQFWA
Those are some seriously jiggly boobs in that video.  I didn't notice it at the time, but I wonder if anyone did and was disappointed when the game came out? Tongue

Yikes.  I guess the white wings might be good for a photo or something, but why the eye-burning fuschia??
55  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Edit Maxis BV lots? on: 2008 December 26, 10:23:14
Yep -- that's what I'm doing too.  I did the same thing with a lot of the community and business lots that came with other EPs.  I just don't have the patience to design my own community lots, but I hate the bloaty lag of the original Eaxis ones.  Death to superfluous second and third stories!
56  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Edit Maxis BV lots? on: 2008 December 26, 03:02:08
D'oh -- I was sure I had, but sure enough the error log shows it was still on.  I had to switch modes (buy to build and back) after entering the cheat so it SHOWED the tools as disabled, and THAT time it worked.

I'm still getting near constant Invalid Stack Errors.  Grrr.  Time to go over the hacks again.

Thanks witch. I feel foolish.  Tongue
57  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Edit Maxis BV lots? on: 2008 December 26, 02:31:44
I just installed BV.  I'm running all the EPs up until then, and none of the SPs.

I attached Twikki Island to a neighborhood as a vacation destination.  I like the general idea of the lots, but they're too big and laggy.  Unfortunately they seem to work like college dorms where a bunch of build/buy tools are disabled.

I messed around (as I have a fresh backup of the neighborhood and nothing to lose) and found that "boolProp dormSpecificToolsDisabled false" allows me to build normally, but it also irreparably breaks the lot (Sims who arrive there on vacation immediately error and then the game snaps to buy/build mode).

Sorry if this has been asked before; I feel like there ought to be an obvious answer.  Is there a way to edit these lots without FUBARing them?

I'm glad HP fixed the oops.  Good for her.  But there are still hundreds of fat morphs out there whose creators don't care to fix them.  WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE GRILLED CHEESE SIMS?

Edit: I've never had any problems with that Peggy male hair. Could it have been updated?
There's a fixed version on PMBD.  You might have that, unless you paid for it.  Grin  (Also IIRC the problem only occurs for certain ages?)
61  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: Not As Advertised on: 2008 September 25, 03:36:30
I actually had to come out of lurking and register to share this beautiful meshing gem.

The original, and yes, it is pay.

<SNIP: scary boobs and bendy neck>
Cry that is just frightening.

And this is going to pale in comparison, but I just found this in my downloads.  The advertising:

A nice "donation" bathroom from SimCredible.
But for some reason when I place the rectangular tub....

It's the disappearing towel rack!  You put it in your bathroom, it appears in your living room!

I'm on a Mac so I can't actually rebin anything.  I just junk 'em. (and post on MATY  Tongue)
63  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: Not As Advertised on: 2008 September 12, 23:13:33
I realize hair colors (and when brown becomes blond or red) are, to some extent, a matter of opinion.  THAT BEING SAID, I am sick and tired of hairs in the wrong bin.  Especially reds.  Peggy really does have some nice, fairly natural looking red hairs...

.... and when I download them, they show up in the blond or brown bin.  Sad

A lot of these are Peggy but not all.  I'm redoing my download folder and came across these while weeding out recolors.

NOT BLACK:

NOT BLOND(E):

NOT BROWN:

64  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: Not As Advertised on: 2008 September 07, 01:47:12
Aw man. That Peggy hair makes mine look tame, but at I didn't even set out LOOKING for it; I found this while making some CAS sims. Pay Rose two-fifeh for:
(SNIP UGLY)
What the hell.  Back-of-neck gaps are sometimes kind of irritating (especially if you want that picture and your sim's teeth are showing from behind..) .... but FRONT OF THE FREAKING FACE gaps?  Visible in CAS?  Did she look at this in-game at ALL?

Also the way it sticks out in the back is so not right.

Man, now I want to go into my collection of Peggy "THAT'S IN THE WRONG BIN" candidates.  WTF reds in the blonde bin, blondes in the brown bin, browns in the black bin.

ETA: Holy Jesus! It also does the bendy-pigtail dance!

http://hideki.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=289166
that is bad not only becuse it is horridly pixel-ey... it is also photo realistic...which mates NOTHING  in the sim world...i dont even think CC will work with it

Here's some pics of this fridge in my game for comparison.  Honestly I don't think it looks that bad, or at least not that different from the advertising.  The water dispenser on the front isn't painted on, it's meshed more or less properly, and the animations work.

There is an issue, however, with the Sims hands not matching up with the fridge doors.

Now somebody get moving and post Peggy hair gaps please!  Grin
66  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: Not As Advertised on: 2008 September 05, 01:01:47
Here's one of my main inspirations for starting this thread: a pay hair from The Sims Connection called "Time After Time."

Upon putting it in the game one of the first noticable things is that the ponytail has something weird going on at the end.

It's skintone/pink and sort of weird.  I call it 'the Butt.'  Look for it in the following pictures.

Besides the Butt, the real problems with the hair begin when the Sim starts to move, because aside from sticking out at odd angles as seen above, the luxurious ponytail tends to...

or

I still remember the face I made first time I witnessed this years ago, when the hair was advertised enthusiastically on TSC as being by Fionn and having amazing animations.
(edited to try and get one of the pics to show)
67  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / More Awful Than You! September: Not As Advertised on: 2008 September 04, 22:57:15
You know those hairs that look AWESOME on the models, and then sit seven feet too high on your sim's head and clip violently through the torso?

Or the furniture that looks brilliant on such-and-so's website but somehow gets lumpy and badly-textured and crashes and pokes through walls when it's in your game?

Find them!  Post them!  Ideally, post a contrast between how it looks in the advertising and how it REALLY looks.  Expose the filthy liars!
68  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You! August: Craptacular Stories. on: 2008 September 04, 00:14:19
Would "Not As Advertised" include "More Stolen That You," stuff that is advertised or sold as a payfile that is not something the seller actually coded or modded him- or herself?

It sure could, especially since so many of the stolen things are not meant for the Sims and end up huge and laggy or poking through walls.

Or it could be another category because finding where things are stolen from is like a fun treasure hunt and may deserve its own month!
69  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You! August: Craptacular Stories. on: 2008 September 03, 22:57:38
If nobody else has ideas for September, I've been waiting for a "Not As Advertized" More Awful Than You.  All those pretty hairs or elegant furnitures that look GREAT on the website and then suck in-game.  Those sorts irritate me more than the obviously ugly TSR type junk, and it would guarantee a break from FeeEssen. Cyd rushed back up to his room and looked as his slightly bleeding penis. Cyd didn't realize that he had shaven earlier in the day and forgot that he had cut himself rather badly...leaving horrible looking scar and blood all over his penis.

I don't know, this really did it for me.  He has a horrible wound from shaving his penis and he didn't NOTICE?
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there anyway to fix this sim? on: 2008 July 30, 13:02:10
While this is almost definitely not the awesome solution, and may be something you've tried, have you tried using Insim's family tree to "make [sim] my child/parent/whatever"? As you're already using it it may be worth a try if you haven't already.

73  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Seasons Bodyshop won't save Sims on: 2008 January 02, 05:44:53
I recently installed Seasons (I'm behind the times) and after doing so BodyShop would always crash upon loading.  I removed some downloads, my SavedSims folder, and deleted cigen and so forth and finally got it to load.  Now it works fine...... except it won't save new Sims.  I hit the "Done Building Sim" button and it takes me back to the Sim bin seemingly as usual, but my new creation isn't there. Ideas, anyone?

Mac user, FYI. I'm hoping this isn't a Mac-specific issue, or if it is, that someone knows how to fix it.  Tongue

The obligatory Buntah entry.  Poor textures, improbable pieces, visible asscrack, and yeah, that looks REAL warm.  This is a woman who obviously does not know what 'winter' means.  (Or 'good taste,' for that matter.)

That woman has a candy cane jammed in her asscrack.  If that doesn't win every contest ever, I don't know what does.

My son's first crib was a laundry basket.  Nothing's too good for my kid.

I started off in a laundry basket too.  Lined with a Budweiser towel.  Ah, memories.
