1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Change Appearances? on: 2006 February 06, 21:35:30
Ah, was wondering how that all worked.  But too shy to ask, I've bugged the forum enough for today, me thinks.  Cheesy  So, does it just entirely clone the "archetype" to the "patient" sim, make them exact duplicates?

There's also an option to just use the archetype's skintone, so you could use the plastic surgery machine to change their facial structure, then use SimPE to change their skintone.  There are some tutorials available under the "Create" section of MTS2 that can tell you how to make the changes made via plastic surgery and via SimPE Sim Surgery be genetic as well as cosmetic.

You did say "true" or "on" in the "try for baby" option on Lizz's bed, right?

I think that option only effects an autonomous attempt for a baby.  You are supposed to be able to still tell your sims to try for baby.

From http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=82193:
Quote
Try for Baby Yes or No… (Default No)
Just what it says, will the sims try for a baby on their own or not.

Everytime somebody installs the Inteenimator, God kills a kitten. How does it feel to know you just caused the death of an innocent kitten, you murderer?

Think of the poor kittens!

That would actually inspire some people I know to install it.

Rufus:

It'd be good to see your mod as a hotfix in the Cracker Barrel of Jase's site.

I sent a PM to Jase with a link to the mod.  We'll see what he says.

Edit: Does anyone know if the PM system on MATY actually works?  I've just sent 2 PMs, but my outbox shows as empty.

Thanks simmiecal. I've never tried InTeen as it seems to get such bad press, albeit unfairly perhaps. Plus I didn't realise it helped adults  Smiley
I am concerned with causing hack conflicts though... is it compatible with the romance mod?

There is a conflict between InTeen and romance mod in "Attraction - EP2 - Attraction Capable?"  I have a mod I put together that combines the functionality of the two.  I'm not sure whether it's ok for me to post anywhere, because I haven't asked either JMP or Jase about it.  Also, I'm pretty new to modding, so it might cause problems for some people.  I think it works correctly, and I haven't personally seen any problems.

Like rainbow's question above, this may seem obvious but you didn't explicitly mention it.  The sim that you want to send to bed has to be the one that sets the wake up time.  Each sim needs to set their own time and turn on bedtime for themselves.  The max option just makes the "go to bed" action appear before any queued actions your sim has to give it "max" priority.

If you look at what the icon says when they run out of the bathroom, the one with the footprints, it says "Be thrown out."  Smiley

Yes, I know.  I was just being too verbose, as usual. Smiley

I play with autonomous behavior on, and I haven't seen this problem with the version of the bathroom contoller I have (posted on 1/14/06).  I've seen sims go into the bathroom and wash dishes successfully on residential lots.  I've also seen sims wander into the bathroom when they don't need to use it, and then be thrown out by the controller (they just run out of it Smiley)
10  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Programmable Sleep Clock v3.1 (01/13/06) on: 2006 January 22, 02:06:31
This is surely an oddity (or maybe a conflict  Undecided), but I have some strange behavior with the sleepclock and vampires with coffins.  As mentioned in a previous post, when the sleepclock tries to send the vampire to bed or when I choose the macro "Go to bed", the vampire just stands there until I cancel the action from the queue.

I haven't done extensive testing on the following bits, and I also have a mod installed called "Vampires sleep late", which may be conflicting with the sleepclock.  Anyways, the sleepclock does not appear to wake my vampire at the wake time (set so that he could go to work at 5pm).  When I deleted the sleepclock in the room with the coffin (there is another in the house, though), the vampire still had the "Go to bed" choice on the macrotastics menu, and it works.  Also, the next day, he woke up during daytime when the message popped up about needing to go to work in an hour.

About the Vampires sleep late -- it came from DJS Sims, and it only contains the BHAV "Vampire - Sleep Finished?".  It is designed to prevent vampires from waking on their own during daytime, but they can still be awakened by the player, etc.
11  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti-Foodnapping Hack on: 2006 January 21, 02:49:38
When a visitor fall asleep in bed after a woohoo session, if one Sim is awake on the lot, you can clic on that visitor and select "shoo".  The visitor will wake up and get out of bed.

Yes, but if your sim is on a date with them, that will instantly end the date.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Headmaster Bug on: 2006 January 20, 21:56:35
I have the uni patch and the NL patch, and have occasionally had problems with the headmaster.  For example, the other day he showed up, rang the doorbell, was greeted, then immediately declared that they didn't want this kind of family in such a fine educational institution and left.

I quickly paused the game, then searched google.  The "workaround" that was suggested was to immediately call and invite him again (as long as it is before 6pm when you call, he will still show up).  I did that and he showed up and went through the whole "headmaster scenario" successfully, letting little Lucilla into the private school.
13  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti-Foodnapping Hack on: 2006 January 18, 14:34:28
This is working great so far.  One question:  will it also affect visitors to the lot who fall asleep while eating?  The only way I've found to wake them up when that happens is to make a loud noise in the vicinity (like, say, a stereo or a ringing phone).  It would be great if visitors would wake up on their own, or better yet, not foodnap in the first place.

Karen

It would be nice if there was a "wake up" interaction for visitors.  I mean, can't your sim shake them, or yell in their ear?  I've never had a visitor foodnap, but I get a little annoyed when a sim woohoos with a visitor who is just slightly in the yellow on energy and they proceed to sleep until 6 am, or the date ends.  I sometimes resort to "cheating" and make them selectable, wake them up, then make them unselectable (I use InSIMinator, but you could use Merola's mirror, too).
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: STOP ASKING TO BE READ TOO! on: 2006 January 17, 23:40:16
Well then how about a mod that makes the fun gained from being read to dependent on the charisma of the reader?

thats a really good idea!!

when I was in school I always hated reading outloud so I learned how to read using the right tone of voice to bore everyone to tears...teachers learned quick not to call on me to read outloud  Grin

Heh!  So, a sim with 0 charisma could decrease the fun of the listner, while a 10 would increase it on par with kicking stuff.  How's that sound?

16  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Programmable Sleep Clock v3.1 (01/13/06) on: 2006 January 17, 14:25:18
Is the sleep clock supposed to send a Vampire to a bed when there is a coffin in the same room?  I am assuming that Hibernate is the setting to use for Vamps.  It seems that my one vampire that has his coffin in the basement (the Beaker house in Strangtown) freezes when I click Go To Bed from his Macro list.  He just freezes in midair until I cancel the action.  I have to click on the coffin manually.  Also, it would be great if the Bed Nazi could reject non-vamps from sleeping in coffins.  I don't know why they keep wanting to sleep in them.  I don't think I would if I weren't a vampire.
It's supposed to. Did you set the bed class to "Coffin"? I may alter that feature slightly soon, thinking of a less awkward way to handle it.

I've had this problem, too.  In a room with only a coffin (no other bed, that is), I have a sleepclock with the bed type set to coffin.  Whenever I choose the macro "Send to bed" or when the sleepclock tries to send the owning vampire to bed, he just stands there until I cancel the action.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Simysteries - anyone know why.......? on: 2006 January 16, 23:33:14
In another, he and Joe Carr each have aliens kids having got themselves abducted - the telescope was there, they chose to stargaze!)

I've seen a lot of posts about sims being abducted.  Are you using some kind of hack/cheat for that to happen?  My understanding was that there was like a 1% or 2% chance of being abducted without mods.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis wants pregnant sims to waste away? on: 2006 January 16, 21:38:19
I would imagine that upon going into a field like forensics, one would almost have to develop a complete detachment from the death of individuals that are unknown or be faced with the inability to function in that job.  Kind of a graveside humor that serves as a defense mechanism.  I would think that eventually they'd become so used to it (their attitude, that is), that they wouldn't realize their attitude was offensive to others.
19  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Programmable Sleep Clock v3.1 (01/13/06) on: 2006 January 16, 17:29:20
I'm not sure whether you saw this over on the thread on the Podium, so I'm posting here, too:

Sad I guess I was a little premature in stating that the problem I saw was completely gone.  The case that I tried it out on was for a sleepclock that had one sim assigned to it.  I had the same error (NO BED FOR YOU!!!) again today using a sleepclock that had 2 people assigned to it.

One of the sims who is assigned to the sleepclock invited a visitor to relax on the bed, and the visitor got "repelled" with the NO BED FOR YOU action.  The second sim assigned to the sleepclock was in a different room on the lot at the time.  I've also seen the same thing happen with a roomie -- two sims assigned to the sleepclock, one of them asks a third sim (a resident of the lot) to relax, and the roomie got kicked out of the room.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Major imbalance of boys vs girls being born on: 2006 January 15, 19:37:32
Would it be possible to let them be born normally, and then change the gender afterwards? (Thinking outside the box and outside the room the box is in Smiley)

You can do that now, with SimPE.

Sorry, I should have been a little more detailed in what I wrote.  What I'm suggesting is a mod that would, for example, pop up a dialog immediately after the baby is born to let you change the gender, in game, without having to save/quite/edit/restart.  Would that be possible?

Or, to take it a step further, don't even use the default routines for birth -- completely replace them.  Call Make New Character, then take the created character and change the gender, then play the animation, assign a name, etc.  Would that be feasible?

Well, I installed the update you posted yesterday (1/13/06), and it seems to be working as I would have expected now.  Visitors that have been invited to relax are able to do so.  I never deleted the old sleepclock -- I just updated the mod.

Thanks for all the work you've put into all your mods!  I've been using most of the ones from the moreawesomethanyou.zip for a while now, and they make the game much more playable and fun for me.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: visitors can't join relax in bed with sleepclock installed on: 2006 January 13, 20:22:52
Are your sims at least best friends with the person they're trying to invite to join?

Yep.  In both cases that I mentioned, the sims are both at 100/100, with a pink and a red heart.

There is a known issue that there will apparently be interference if you assign two clocks to the same room. Is that the case here?

For my instance, there is one bed in the room and one sleepclock, with only one owner assigned to the clock.  In the first case I mentioned, the owner was away from the lot at work.  For the second case, the owner was the one relaxing on the bed alone, and invited a visitor to relax.

I deleted both clocks and installed just one with 2 sims assigned to it. There are still 3 beds in the room but I haven't had any problems so far.

I did not delete the sleepclock after updating the mod -- I bought the sleepclock and installed it with a previous version installed.  I can try deleting the clock and buying a new one to see if that makes a difference.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / visitors can't join relax in bed with sleepclock installed on: 2006 January 13, 16:25:17
Since installing the latest version of sleepclock (Jan 04, 2006), sims who are invited to join someone relaxing in bed will walk into the room, then will turn around and walk out of the house.  Once outside, they will stop, and then can do actions again (this happened to a visitor -- I know that a controllable character can cancel the action).  When this happened to a visitor, I made them selectable with InSIM, and there was an action with the text "NO BED FOR YOU!!".  This was when the only sim assigned to the sleepclock was at work.  A second time I saw this, the sim assigned to the sleepclock was the one relaxing, and the same thing happened to the invited, visiting sim.

So I guess that in order to invite someone to relax, I will either need to unassign all sims from the sleepclock, or will need to buy another double bed to bed used exclusively for relaxing/woohoo.  Is this the expected behavior of sleepclock now?
