And at least said boss doesn't own a restaurent.
52  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hidden/missing traits? on: 2009 June 19, 15:47:33
It would make sense if they had merged two of the more useless ones into one marginally less useless trait. This is very interesting, and I'd love to know whether the code for them is still in the game and can be enabled.
53  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hidden Items on: 2009 June 19, 15:44:19
The children of your military Sims also get the salute option, which is also cute. My Sim's daughters would salute him when he came home from work. Cheesy
His grandchildren also have the salute option. I don't know when/if the salute stops passing down.
"Can Salute" is a hidden trait, and is therefore heriditary. There are a whole bunch of other ones too.

The gnome randomly respawns to a different part of the lot, when you're supposedly not looking.
54  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Anisotropic Filtering: Turning it on on: 2009 June 18, 20:16:59
I set it to 16x and noticed very little difference (it was there, but it wasn't much). The roads still look like shit in Edit Town.
55  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Extreme difficulty in killing sims by fire? on: 2009 June 18, 19:54:25
I have found it much harder to kill sims in this game, which does take a lot of the fun out of it. It seems a little borky as well.

Odin Crosby died of fire on the first attempt. However, Morgana Wolff refused to die at all. Attempted starvation failed, and even a fire in a 2x1 box did had no effect on her. Even attempting to kill her using debug mode had no effect (although immediate kill worked, but that's different as it just immediately removes the sim and spawns their tombstone). I can only assume that some bizzare glitch granted her full invulnerability to all types of death, or maybe she had some quirk to her that I was unaware of.

Plus I hate how sims don't need the ladder for the pool anymore; you actually have to box the non-playables in if you want them to die. I've also had a few instances where townies will just walk through walls to evade death by starvation. One time a sim didn't even get the "Singed" moodlet for being electrocuted.

Apparently there's a gold plated Servo in one of the rabbit hole windows (the science building I think).
57  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 June 18, 17:54:48
Fair point. Grim might be female here too.

I was actually referring to the fact the sim's boyfriend had just died... but I'll change my post so as to preserve Death's gender (or lack thereof).
58  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I like ghosts on: 2009 June 18, 16:56:21
I don't really care for them, as they're essentially translucent sims. However they are rather entertaining when they go off to neighbouring lots, sometimes even hilarious.
59  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 June 18, 16:53:09
Can your sims actually get it on with the reaper and have a kid with him?  I've never had him stick around long enough to find out.
One of my bisexual sims (who is so because he has the "Heartbreaker" LTW) came close to gettin' it on with Death... Make of it what you will. Needless to say, he got over his boyfriend quickly.

Death was very receptive, but no WooHoo actions appeared (so I assume it's male this time). However, he/she/it wasn't "aroused" enough for them to appear regardless. Grim disappeared soon after the kiss. My sim won't be getting closer to fulfilling that want anytime soon (there's only the fuglies left, which is why he started going after the males).
60  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Story Mode: A Random @Toading: Congratulations to Draklixa! on: 2009 June 18, 16:43:46
The thing that really bothers me most is the random addition and merging of families (even if there is room). I want the single guy to live alone. How else can I plan a romance?
Yes, this is probably the most annoying of these. For example, in Riverview there is a single woman who lives alone in a house on the town center island. One day, an entire family of SEVEN sims moved in and literally took over. This just destroys the story set up, and of course why would a woman who actively prefers to be alone allow a whole freaking family to move in? I could understand if she "changed" and allowed a close friend to move in, but this...

There was another instance where the wealthy Jones couple, who live in the humongous mansion on the hill, suddenly moved into some crapshack with two other sims who had just moved into the neighborhood themselves and probably had never even met. It's just so utterly unrealistic. If a family moved house because, say, a baby was on the way and the current house was too small then I could understand. Or if a sim's spouse has died, and they wished to move in with relatives or close friends so as not be alone then that would have some storytelling to it too. But this nonsensical merging with strangers, and in houses that have no actual room for them is just highly irritating.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets - Is there chance card guide? on: 2009 June 18, 16:04:57
I do recall one of my cats bringing home the $10,000 from the Service chance card at one stage. I'd certainly call that amount useful. After all, that's a brand new three-tile TV (from AL) right there.
62  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bulldozing turns lots blue on: 2009 June 17, 12:16:58
Yes this happened to me in Riverview, when I experimented to see whether the game would accept a second school. Anyway, I destroyed the lot afterward and it turned blue. Then the game acted very perculiar, and all the lots in the neighborhood suddenly became corrupted looking. Then it suddenly fixed itself.
63  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Corrupted hood - can it be fixed? on: 2009 June 17, 09:32:19
I had some corruption problems. For me, I eventually realised that I had inadvertantly installed Riverview with one of the installers along with everything else, so then there were two conflicting Riverviews causing corruption in both hoods. Removing the package files fixed that, as I had used the evil launcher to install that one previously.

65  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What, in Heaven's name, is up with traits?! Scary Pic included on: 2009 June 16, 15:47:47
I have to agree that a lot of the males haven't turned out too bad (not great, but not horrific). But as for the females... Bar one or two that looked okay, the majority of them are hideous as they tend to suffer more from puddingface and masculine features. Elders look pretty bad as well, as the game seems to automatically give them extreme pudding faces regardless of what they looked like before. My sim, who I thought looked decent enough to not make me vomit, now looks vomitworthy as an elder because of this.
66  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 June 16, 13:36:49
Family tree. The sepia ones are dead. This was necessary since it looks like Magnolia is dead by default. She's not, she's just the fruit of a liason between a ghost and a live one.
*snip*
Hm, nice idea. That would really help me keep track of my family's increasingly complex family tree. I'm glad I thought of that.

I decided to follow EAxis' lead and do a sort of prequel to my neighborhood (with the key difference being that my way is actually logical and makes sense) So I started with the grandfather of one of my TS2 sims (Leo Colt) who I named Damian and made Evil/Grouchy/Mean Spirited/Kleptomaniac/Insane. He lives in Riverview, because Sunset Valley is corrupted and unplayable.

This image is just disturbing.

Damian's transition to an Adult. The toddler is his son, Robert. The old bag on the right is his wife, Rhoda (who was his boss, but they became each other's boss when they married). All the outdoor furniture is stolen shit.

Robert's birthday to teen. Although the guy next to Damian, Ernersto Ramirez (Maid, Rhoda's lover) looks more like Damian than his son.

Hey Odin Crosby, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen! Odin and his wife Heather are Damian's neighbors, and the two men are sworn enemies.

Weird Enersto is weird.

Shitty storeshit is shitty.

I don't even know where to begin with this one... (It's Damian and Heather, as both their spouses are long dead at this point)

Having now moved into the Aquarius Rising house, Robert proposes to girlfriend Tanya. Heather rejected Damian's proposal, and their relationship mysteriously tanked later on. She was soon sealed within the swimming pool, and is now the watery counterpart to her husband's fiery ghost.

Heather Ghost scaring Rhoda Ghost...  Undecided

Ghost party. The pink one is Mary Lu Broke, whose grave was autonomously robbed by Damian. There's a wedding reception going on inside for Damian and his new wife MaryKay. She's rich and comes from a big house, and she leaves her family with not even a penny to their name. I really only brought her in to act as a garden slave, and to spawn a new larva to act as Damian's heir to his criminal empire (Robert turned out nothing like his parents).

Damian's new wife MaryKay heads off to the hospital to give birth to their son. She already has a daughter, the fugly Francesca, but there's no room in the mansion for her. And, well, she's fugly. The game says she's rich, despite the fact that she and her uncle don't have a single simolean between them.

And the shamelessly stolen family tree diagram. The one thing that I do like about this game is seeing one sim (in this case Damian) quickly branch out to encompass a huge extended family. Robert and Tanya are expecting another larva (despite not even woohooing). Damian is enemies with Bob Newbie, after stealing MaryKay from him, and there's no room for fugly Francesca so I think I'm going to kill them off. The graveyard could use expanding after all...
67  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: My review of TS3. What I liked, don't like. on: 2009 June 16, 12:05:04
They stand and walk like they're going to a gunfight at the OK Corral.

Or they have hemorrhoids.
That's what I thought too. Although, when they are cooking it looks like they've got diarrhea and they're about to rush off to the toilet.
68  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: So did anyone else notice the knockoff Brady Bunch family? on: 2009 June 16, 09:26:05
I thought the scourge of fish faces was gone, but evidently I was mistaken.
69  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hidden Items on: 2009 June 16, 09:11:44
Also, the reward for being Emperor of Evil is an aura of haet!1.  That red glow you see?  Each pulse makes your friends and family haet!1 you.  Parents, teachers, friends - they are all against you.
So I have recently noticed. It seems to have a greater effect on sims with the "Good" trait. It would also explain why his son and daughter-in-law absolutely despise him.

Relationships suck in this game. It's no longer a two way street, and they share the same meter (based on my observations). They both either have like each other or both haet each other, which sucks. I don't know whether that is by some moronic design or just pure laziness.
70  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: House move fail on: 2009 June 16, 09:07:25
Ah, finally got it back. Most of the stuff later appared in the family inventory (but not right away, mysteriously). The rest I just swiped back.

My fridge contents did come with me though. I also had fish in the inventory, and they can be moved back with moveobjects on. And I also had the non-customisable problem too with the fridge.
71  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Objects I miss on: 2009 June 15, 20:04:17
I even missed Komei Tellerman and Goopy GilsCarbo! They suddenly appeared appealing and attractive to me, compared to these fugly faces!
I have to agree. As ugly as they were, they had a personality about them. They were unique, and recognisable. But I just don't recognise sims in this game. They all look the same, and it's so hard to tell them apart unless they are seriously deformed or something.

The only thing better in TS3 are the loading times. Actually, TS3 tought me to appreciate TS2 better. And for that I thank EAxis. Not even the loading times of TS2 bug me now - at the end of that rainbow awaits my hood, replete with gameplay I enjoy and control.
Heh, for me The Sims 2 runs flawlessly and has much faster loading times than The Sims 3, which is horrifically sluggish. So the argument that "The Sims 3 runs smoother and has less loading times than TS2" is a moot point to me.

And for expansions, I wouldn't be surprised to see them merely sell retail packs containing only gameplay enhancements and a few critical objects, with everything else having to be bought from the store.
72  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Boss at Science Lab is MIA. Is my sim the boss now? on: 2009 June 15, 17:41:15
I once had a situation where my sim and his wife were each others bosses. Unfortunately they couldn't ask each other for raises/promotions.
73  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: My review of TS3. What I liked, don't like. on: 2009 June 15, 14:50:45
The key word in that article is "laziness".  After playing this entire weekend I have to agree.

I feel like I've been forced to dumb down and fit into my spawn's console world or play one of the RPGs I have.  The sims move like little robot people (what is WITH that stance they have when standing still?), have little to no personality and building stuff is painful.  I think I hate the speed problem more than anything in this POS.

I do like being able to follow them as they move from one lot to the other, color customization and the interactions with the ghosts.  I'm determined to get a ghost baby for which the Son of Perdition's self-sim has graciously agreed to take one for the team to provide.  After that I see myself going back to TS2 to fulfill my goddess complex.

As a Sims player since day 1 I feel like I've been bent over and fucked in the ass with no reach around.
My thought's exactly. All of it.

This game was blantantly rushed, and it's been sloppily and lazily developed. I'm only playing to see everything, and then I too shall return to the clearly superior TS2. There's some nice stuff in there, admittedly, but it's floating around in a sea of crap. The Sims 2 is an eternal sandbox that I can play until my fingers bleed. The Sims 3 is a shallow, generic game I will be sick of by the end of the week not least because of the numerous technical problems and it's tendancy to fuck it self up when I'm not looking.

It's like a PC version of the console games really... In fact, come to think of it, it's more of a horrific second coming of Simsville. One can now see why that game got canned.
74  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / House move fail on: 2009 June 14, 22:34:13
Blargh. I took the risk of moving my sim out of his extremely overcrowded trailer and into his spacious new manor, knowing that it would somehow go wrong. Of course, the game says it will pack all the furniture and leave it in the inventory; except it didn't pack any of the lot's outdoor objects including weight sets, stolen patio sets, the statue from the town square and his recently deceased wife's tombstone. He's a klepto, so he could probably steal it all back but it will take weeks. Does anyone know of a quicker and easier way of getting all this stuff back?
75  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Singing in the shower on: 2009 June 14, 22:18:40
Not to mention the car/bus horns, the sound when money is exchanged with the family funds, and every sound effect in Build Mode.
