376  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FreeTime Patch Released on: 2008 April 01, 17:23:37
Unfortunately my attempts to get my elderly sims to flirt with their children have thus far failed, granted it was between Luis and Victor Aspir (I couldn't be bothered to load another neighborhood) but it still should have done something.

I'll try Dora Ottomas next though, seeing as that family's screwed up enough without incest coming into the equation.
377  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FreeTime Patch Released on: 2008 April 01, 15:18:00
Actually the patch was released yesterday, not today. It was also reported last thing yesterday, but I only saw it this morning.
378  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FreeTime Patch Released on: 2008 April 01, 11:44:10
- "Neon Flamingo" is no longer missing from Buy Mode.
That's weird, I used it yesterday and it was there.

Quote
- In Audio Options, Custom Station icon no longer blocks the Stop button.
- "Socialus Butterfly" can now be caught for the Bug Collection.
- Primp interaction is no longer missing from the game.
- Teen and Child Sims will no longer receive the unachievable Bird Watch Want.
Usual EAxis stupidity.

Quote
- Career outfits are now hidden in Create-A-Family.
It did find it weird how they were avaliable this time around.

Quote
- The Sims 2 FreeTime credit section has been correctly updated.
Um, okay?

Quote
- Parents and their children no longer have the option to flirt with each other.
Hey I got it right. But that's just disturbing, so I'll have to try it out now!

Quote
- Motive decay on the "H-O-R-S-E of course Basket Ball Hoop", "The Goal of Paul", "Teeny Tikes Activity Table", and "One Man's Junk Car from Mechanically Minded" objects and Go Hiking interaction has been retuned.
Thank focaccia for that! It was so annoying having sims playing basketball or soccer for like, two seconds and immediately passing out, peeing themselves and starving to death.

Thanks for posting that. Still seems as if they've neglected to look at secondary aspirations though...

Takes "SimPE Must Be Destroyed" to a whole new level.
380  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wedding question.. on: 2008 April 01, 10:41:30
And if you have OFB or later and do this, make sure to change their formal outfit back to something you'd like them to wear as a wedding guest. I had a sim show up for her son's wedding in her wedding dress and hairstyle as I'd forgotten to change her default dress.

That happens to me all the time.  Especially awkward when the mother of the bride isn't an elder yet.  I've also had two sisters show up at their younger sister's wedding, BOTh still wearing their wedding dresses.

PB

I always do that!

Me too. I once had a sim get married to Meadow Thayer. Except her dress was some random formal one that really wasn't appropriate for weddings, and the grooms sister turned up in her wedding dress and veil that I had forgotten to change. I had to keep the sister out of the pictures! It was really confusing. Speaking of which, at the sisters wedding two female sims turned up in the exact same dress, so I whacked them in as bridesmaids and another sim as the best man.
381  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: TwoJeffs Has Left the OTHER Building on: 2008 April 01, 10:09:43
Didn't they change it again with Unleashed (and SS and MM for that matter) as well? But you're right, they didn't keep changing it. Even better, they only ever released 3 patches...  Shocked
382  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / FreeTime Patch Released on: 2008 April 01, 09:58:59
I was surprised this morning to discover that the patch for FreeTime has been released! Only on the german TS2 site typically. Anyone dare to test it out and make sure it won't make our game explode? http://www.diesims.de/files.list.asp?id=583 (I think it has different languages)

The patch is now avaliable on the official The Sims 2 website: http://thesims2.ea.com/update/getpatch.php?appVersion=1.13&languageCode=
383  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: So... What happened to the Sound Effects? on: 2008 March 30, 14:58:48
I've just realised that my rear speakers do not work. At all. They are plugged in, obviously (it's the first thing I check). All the computer sound settings are set to 5.1 surround sound (and I've tried others for good measure). My soundcard, Realtek AC97, comes with a utility to configure the sound card and as far as I am aware, it's all set to 5.1 settings. I've also installed the latest driver for it. Still, absolutely no sound at all. There's a speaker test as well, and when I click the rear speakers the sound comes out of the middle one instead (front speakers work fine for that matter). Anyone know what's wrong here?
384  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to make hobby leaders age? on: 2008 March 28, 10:19:51
I have noticed that very occasionally a sim will have a different hobby maven contacting them than for some reason. I don't know why though, and it doesn't happen very often.

Plus, I can understand having maybe one male and one female maven for each neighborhood, but the extra 10 really is pointless! In fact, there are many NPCs that I don't understand why they make in threes: Social Worker, Repo Man, Tour Guide, Unsavoury Charlatan, Ninja ect.
385  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Oh no! There's another one! on: 2008 March 24, 09:32:48
I've never had another Goopy, but I have had plenty of Marylena Hamiltons in several installs of the game on three different computers. Very odd.
With me, it's Ivy Copur. I always get the mildly-tanned teen and dark-skinned adult, and occasionally another one appears somehow. I think I made the teen Ivy go to college once, and she was replaced by an identical teen.

Indentical teen? That reminds me of a story I heard where someone had their sim marry Andrea Hogan, who later died and was replaced with a clone that was exactly the same as her!! The husband wasn't too impressed as you may imagine.

And yeah, there are two Ivy Copurs and tons of Marylena Hamiltons in my neighborhoods. It's really annoying when they get duplicate names. I even have a Prof. Marsha Bruenig in Pleasantview!
386  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Two questions on: 2008 March 22, 12:48:16
Well for some unknown reason, something has caused all my lots to reset. Fair enough, these things often happen. The problem is with one of my households, Nina (Caliente) Pleasant took the sports car to work. The reset caused her to spawn somewhere outside the house, but the car is missing and the driveway where it goes is unusable. I could probably try to delete it with moveobjects on, but I'm wondering if the car is lost for good, or will it inexplicably fall out of the sky one day?

Also, I want to add a second question rather than make another thread for it. Disappearing graves. I know that this is supposed to be caused by ghosts roaming the lot when it is saved and the hood is reset. However, this is apparently just isolated to the particular lot the ghost was on and in Pleasantview I have not had any ghosts roaming around and suddenly all the graves have disappeared, even from Gothier Green Lawns and even lots I've never been to. While I can respawn them, this happened in a previous PV (which combined with several other weird bad problems forced me to restart) and I want to know what keeps causing the game to completely remove my graves on a neighborhood wide scale.
387  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: John Mole: Seriously Borked? on: 2008 March 22, 08:05:33
Nope, they don't seem to have any effect. He even has a fear of being rejected for engagement and is still getting the negative memory.
388  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: John Mole: Seriously Borked? on: 2008 March 22, 07:44:30
Yeah, I've tried different hacks that are supposed to prevent this (not at the same time obviously!) but they have no effect for some reason. Whenever the bad memory happens, the wants for everyone get absolutely screwed and most sims seem to lose them (even rerolling or waiting for them to naturally make a new want tree doesn't seem to bring them back) and some other weird randomness happens as well.
389  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / John Mole: Seriously Borked? on: 2008 March 21, 21:55:45
For some reason, John Mole always gets negative enagement/marriage memories despite the fact he is not a romance sim. He doesn't have a secondary aspiration either. Whenever this happens the whole neighborhood gets screwed, with all kinds of crazy things happening probably leading to BFBVFS. I know many other people have mentioned the same thing happening to them as well. So is there some little mishap somewhere in John Mole's character file, or is he seriously screwed?
390  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 21, 21:16:52
Way back when Uni came out, I lost pretty much every grave on Olive Specter's lot.

Unfortunately this has happened to me. Respawning them is one thing, but when's there's tons of graves to respawn...
391  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fixing Spelling Errors in Game: An Impossible Dream? on: 2008 March 18, 20:32:53
So, uh... What exactly is going on there? That pop-up is absolutely atrocious! Did they whack some chinese text into babelfish or something?

I agree that the spelling is incredibly infuriating. Reading some of the chance cards make a grammar freak like me want to gouge my eyes out.
392  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Bigfoot will not reach maximum enthusiasm. on: 2008 March 17, 18:10:54
For some reason, my Bigfoot will not correctly reach maximum enthusiasm. He does lots of gardening and was talking to a tree when he gained the final enthusiasm point (well presumably, as this was when he became "In the Zone"). However, his want to reach maximum enthusiasm has not been fulfilled and he has not recieved a memory or the plaque. I tried using debug mode to reduce the enthusiasm by one point and see whether it will climb back up normally, it did, however the same thing happened: The game seems to recognise that he is at level 10, it just doesn't realise that he is at the max. I also got an error, which I have attached.

393  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 15, 15:51:37
I was playing in Desiderata Valley. John Mole proposed to Sharon and invited her to move in. He got a bad engagement memory (even though I have TJ's critical fix which supposedly prevents this according to the description  Huh) and BOOM! There goes the neighborhood. Almost everyone is missing wants/fears and LTW's have been reset. Yeah... I'm screwed.  Cry
394  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: So... What happened to the Sound Effects? on: 2008 March 10, 19:15:33
Yes it turned out to be the 5.1 setting, which is strange because my card supports it and I have a surround speaker system (plus it worked before). 4.0 works though.

As I mentioned, I just reinstalled windows recently. Is there perhaps an option I need to set somewhere on my computer that I have overlooked?
395  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: So... What happened to the Sound Effects? on: 2008 March 09, 16:14:06
I did try. It had absolutely no effect, hence why I am here.

EDIT: I tried deleting my custom stations, but every time I reload the game they come back again! I'm really beginning to think it's causing the problems so I've deleted the 'customstation' file in the music folder and will test to see what happens.

EDIT: Okay the stations are gone but the audio errors are still present. I can't think what I have done to have caused this. Here is an error log:

396  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / So... What happened to the Sound Effects? UPDATED: Solved! on: 2008 March 09, 14:53:24
EDIT: Solved  Cheesy

For some strange reason, my game has suddenly stopped playing most (but not all) of the sound effects in the game. The game is freshly installed after formatting my hard drive due to a virus yadda yadda yadda and all that crap. I installed FreeTime a few days ago and the sound was perfectly alright and all the sound effects were playing correctly. But now most of the sound effects such as the clicking noises (when clicking a button), the "cha ching" noise when buying something, footsteps, the pop-up noise, some sim voices ect. seem to have mysteriously stopped (although obvious major SFX such as toilets flushing and telephones ringing still work). A quick look at the cheats console showed loads of audio sound effects errors, but I don't know what's causing it. I thought it might have been something in my downloads folder but I completely disabled it and haven't really installed anything new apart from that dodgy looking file for the Montgomery Hawker.

So, does anyone have any idea what's going on here? It's getting a little difficult now that I am unable to hear half of the game. I might try completely deleting my Custom Radio Stations and see whether that's borking my SFX, but I think they were still working when I made my first station.
397  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Memory question on: 2007 December 22, 17:32:02
I'm just wondering if it's safe to delete the gossip and invisible memories. Deleting the pesky gossip spam won't have a detrimental effect on my game will it?
398  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another BV patch released on: 2007 October 23, 09:37:19
Well they changed the layout of the patch selection page. That's the only thing that looks different to me. In fact it's the exact same file size as well. They are probably trying to lure naive users away from the SecuROM board...
399  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 October 17, 16:45:14
I'm curious to know if anyone has noticed an increase in computer or even game performance since removing SecuROM?
