51  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / I prove my inability to use windoze on: 2009 July 16, 16:49:15
I'm really hoping that I won't be shot and mauled for stupidity, and that someone has a helpful tip. I have awesomemod (up to date), the framework, a number of cc, everything... And until as of now, everything has worked just fine. I deleted my cache files to install a new awesomemod, and bam! All hacks simply do not load, awesomemod included. I have no friggin ide what just went haywire, but whatever it is, it seems to cause my game to ignore package files altogether. I checked that resource files are as they should be, there are no other core mods, nothing new except this awesomeod install, and for some reason I can't really make myself believe that His Awesomeness would release something that nuked the entire game. Halp?

Edit: Voodoo. Taking all hacks out and reinstalling them again with Delphy's monkey fixed everything. I stand cluelessly baffled but happy.

Just a thank you to Anach for good ideas. I ended up just doing a fresh install and patch though, and for some reason this solved everything. Something, somewhere must have gone corrupted on me, but I have no idea what. :/

Pescado, that was ebil!  Grin
I just managed to kill my entire neighborhood, trying that! I do have story mode on, unlike the OP, but I have the 20 minutes save problem too after installing some custom content -- which also fails to show in the game anyway. Meh.

I have story mode on. What sort of custom content are you installing?

My GF was having issues after installing lots of .package patterns. It would reach a point where she couldnt save and was getting graphical corruption after installing a certain amount of patterns.

I have about ten custom patterns, most of which don't show in the game. The REAL issues didn't begin until this morning when I attempted to add sims3pack files using Delphy's installer (not the monkey, the other one that -is- for sim3packs). Now my game takes 18-30 minutes to save, and graphical updates are chugging like my videocard was about to asplode. It takes the naked meshes almost two minutes to load into colour when I open a lot or visit a rabbithole. The packs I tried to add (did I mention most of them don't show in game either?) were EA shop stuff and some innocent looking clothes from Parsimonious and MTS. I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me next that the EA stuff had an extra security check somewhere that is killing me, but I doubt that the two other sources would have that sort of thing.

Damn you, EA. I can afford to buy the game. I just don't -want- to. Damn you and your Securom.

ETA:

^O^     <--- screaming street preacher.

I had the same issue. Had the Reloaded version installed and updated it by installing the Razor1911 over top of it. I had to uninstall the game and reinstall the game from the Razor1911 files before the patch would work.

I reinstalled the Razor1911 files last night, but I'm still getting gripes about it not working. The game loads, and awesomemod loads too, but it crashes randomly and every ten minutes minimum. I don't mean at startup, but during the game. For further information, I have awesomemod set to vanilla, and no other hacks in (except framework). The message I get when I try to patch is that the infamous sku key is missing (and it is indeed not in the registry).
56  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 June 29, 06:33:20
<groan> I can't patch to 1.2.7 either. I cannot find that sku file anywhere, so the patch keeps choking out on invalid file and dying. Any tips? Since I do have awesomemod in, I crash every 10 minutes or so, rendering the game pretty unplayable.
57  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 June 27, 20:29:01
I have read every page in this thread and I have noted that while a lot of people are having problems with the patch, unfortunately no one seems to have the same problem I do. I hope there is a simple fix and that someone will be around to clue me in!

I have an, ahem, less than legally acquired international version game which decided to start crashing at random after I tried to install EA's new patch. Since the install aborted due to the launcher being removed from my computer, I figured oh well -- and habitually updated AwesomeMod now I was at it anyway. Only then did I, in my extreme morning alertness, notice that the latest AM requires the patch.

Is there any way I can undo the mess I've made without reinstalling the entire game? I have random crashes right and left every 4-5 minutes, rendering the game pretty much unplayable. In a worst case scenario, can I reinstall on top of my existing game and at least rescue my neighborhood?

Thanks in advance and apologies for being less than Windows literate.

Any chance for those of us who are less savvy that someone will upload a replacement set without the obvious flaws?

Hunt complete. You were quite right, it turned out to be either one of djsims' hacks or someone called hardis. This will teach me to download things that look cool but aren't supported, I suspect. Anyhow, just wanted to thank for help and admit to my own cluelessness causing the bug.
60  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: sim is frozen on: 2007 October 13, 23:55:08
I shall do that once I have eyes again for it is 2am and I am not conscious. I even tried using Monique's no move furniture shrub, move the family to the bin and back in -- and they're all still stuck. So, hack hunt it is.

In case it's of any relevance to anyone who has a suspicion they'd like to share, one of the affected sims is a plant sim. I am also seeing some odd glitches on other lots where queued actions disappear. I thought this was a case of updating the ACR, but since I already did so, no such luck.

Try turning the testing cheats on, and forcing an error on each one.  If that doesn't unstick them, then turn on the moveobjects cheat, and delete each and every one of them.  Save the lot and exit, and then go back in -- they should all be reset and standing by the mailbox.

All deleted with the lovely tactical nuke yellow box from this site... and all frozen by the mailbox. Perhaps this lot is simply destined to be the Medusa's garden. In case it matters, the stuck sims are all adults and adults, while the non-stuck two are a teen and a toddler (Okay, so I wasn't counting the toddler, it's not like they do a whole lot but poop and cry).
62  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Hamster brain returns: Various BV issues, grrrr. on: 2007 October 13, 21:29:50
I swear to the powers that be, I can read, and I can do a forum search. So either the search page here at MATY hates me in particular, yes, me, it's in that (if user==daimon) function over there -- or I'm having different BV issues than everyone else who has posted here previously. Here's my two most recent issues that I'd really appreciate advice on. Pretty please. Yes, I realize that I am a hamster brain.

A family of six is stuck on a lot. I can't use the lot debugger to unstick frozen sims because there is no such option. The one sim on the lot who is not frozen got to try, but forcing errors and the like has absolutely no effect. I can of course just ditch that particular lot or let that family die off, no big deal, but I'd prefer to find out why this happened so it doesn't happen all over on the next lot.

And second, visiting Twikkii island, is there a known reason as to why one would be unable to interact with npcs such as the ghost captain and the fire dancer and the massage people? This does make it somewhat difficult to fulfill certain wants!

Look at me, I'm a hamster, I'm entirely too cute to not help.
63  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: sim is frozen on: 2007 October 13, 21:01:12
I am having the exact same problem on one of my lots. I -did- use the debugger (newest version), but I'm not seeing a fix stuck sim option at all -- and it's the whole darn family except one that's frozen too, so I'm not inclined to just let the buggers starve to death like statues.
64  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Walk to lot -> lot loads in build mode?! on: 2007 October 12, 19:48:55
Thank you kindly for the prompt reply. I guess I'm a hamster brain after all, since I ventured to presume that with the full MATY BV hack set installed, I would be something like... safe. For BV given levels of safe, clearly.
65  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Walk to lot -> lot loads in build mode?! on: 2007 October 12, 18:17:31
Hohum. My first helpmeplz post here didn't go so well, seeing as that the error was clearly on the user end. This time I feel a little more confident that the issue is not (completely at least) the hamster brained user.

Having two sims on Twikkii Island, I made them walk to a community lot (The Spa one). They wandered off fine enough, but when the lot loaded it did so in build mode, leaving me no option but to exit without saving. Even the game itself told me this was a bad idea, so I'm more than a bit nervous about what digital limbo those two may be residing in now. Similarly, I followed supposedly working instructions on creating a secret lot in a new mountain hood, and when I attempted to save, the whole computer froze.

Am I looking at regular Bon Voyage madness here, or are there any fixes I should attempt to do? I already tried bribing the computer with the smell of black coffee, the most miraculous cure for random woes in existence!
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage flashing blue pain and no ffs content on: 2007 October 11, 15:20:18
Argh.

That was not very awesome of me. Watch me go hit my head against the wall for the hour it takes for the game to load up, click CC enabled, and reload.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Bon Voyage flashing blue pain and no ffs content on: 2007 October 11, 14:21:55
I updated the CEP to version 7, and I have grabbed all the ffs hacks in the BV version. Yet, all my custom content is now flashing blue, and all ffs content such as say, macrotastics, is non-existent. Any known conflicts or issues that might cause this?
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 October 07, 12:22:47
Oookay. I am the least Windows savvy person on the planet. Please run this past me slowly and in friendly letters only.

Is there, or is there not, a way to install a copy of BV that does not install SecuRom? I can see that there are ways to -remove- SecuRom, but I will not be allowed to install the game if I have to install that piece of crap in the first place.

Thanks.
