- You can't view any information about a sim when they're at work or school.

There's a fix for that at simlogical, here:

This link is a dead end - is the mod available somewhere else?

Anyone else having an issue with time speed? I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's something I'm doing wrong but sometimes the time speed doesn't go to the fastest setting (where the minutes blur) when there are no sims on my lot. It's annoying because I have to sit and look at an empty house for five minutes until my sim returns from work, and hitting the 'ultra speed' button doesn't do anything to fix it.

I have been getting this a lot lately.

I feel in the middle on bills. Every time they come now, I actually get sad because I know a huge chunk of money is going to be gone. In Sims 1, 2, and 3,  I literally never cared about bills. So, I think it's a step in the right direction.

I agree, I like that it actually costs money now and you have to worry about bills.  However, it would be nice if there was some sort of "You are going to have a bill of $x,xxx.xx due next Tuesday", so that you could budget for it and not spend it on something new.

Also, as a random note, I wish the daily tasks for work/school were a little less buried.

  • The maid doesn't work correctly.  Sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't.
  • Last names, an option to automatically change last names when getting married.
  • I really miss family trees.
  • Some sort of reaction to your spouse/father/mother dying, even if you weren't there to witness it.
  • A way to lock a menu bar as up.  I hate having to click on the motive bar constantly.
  • A countdown to the exact time for a birth.
  • Risky woohoo.
  • The appliances break way too often.
  • A way to tone down the weight gain/muscle building.  I like the concept, but it seems really extreme right now.
  • Some of the bookshelves have slots, if a sim puts a book in the slot, it's not available when you click on the bookshelf to "read".  That is really dumb.
  • Access to someone's inventory, even if they are at work/school.
  • The speed keys for time break sometimes and you have to hit escape and come back to get them to work again
  • When it's time to go to work/school, GO.
  • Stop/limit the amount of drinks sims get from the fridge.
  • A way to easily transfer things to & from individual inventory, household inventory and fridge.  I seriously cannot figure out how to get fish out of my household inventory that got transferred there when a person died.
  • Stop children from laughing while they sleep.
  • A way to sort things in inventories/fridge (by name, time left, etc)
  • Can't set start time for parties.
  • Having to RE-unlock everything when you start a new game.  It should either always be unlocked or only have to unlock it one time.
  • Ability to set number of days per age.  I want old people to die faster.
  • Some way to distinguish teenagers from adults.

WCIF a mod that allows my sims to go to work on Season's holiday days (leisure, spooky, snowflake & love)?

I'm getting this a lot. Usually after saving, which is really annoying. It's still the same "Attempted to read/write protected data" message like before the "fix".
If you're running on Windows  7, make sure that you run the program as an admin (right click on the icon and select "run as administrator" or change your shortcut to always run as the admin).  After I did this, it stopped crashing completely.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create-A-World Tips, Tricks, and Annoyances on: 2010 July 12, 22:32:36
Many of your lots are visibly warped. This is bad! Flat-edges only!

All flattened, except for beach lots.  I'll probably clean up some of the edges where I carved into the hills, but I'll wait until I finish testing it to see what else needs cleaning up.

Someone on this forum (witch, I think) made a world called Idle Haven for TS2 that I loved, so I am trying to create my own world similar to it.  Below is a picture of what I have so far.  I'm wondering if anyone has any "rules of thumb" for how many of each type of spawner I should put down and how many trees are needed.  Also, is there any way to get water, like ponds, on places that are above sea level without doing in out the lot?

10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The new Sim 3 non-borked Create-A-World tool DIRECT LINK on: 2010 July 10, 19:49:53
Is anyone else have problems using the new version?  It'll start up and let me start or load a new world, but will usually crash within 10 minutes after that.
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The Birth Control Mirror on: 2010 July 08, 11:20:54
Thanks for the clarification!  What about situations where I played a family and left them with a want to have a baby before I switched to another family?  Does that affect their score at all?
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The Birth Control Mirror on: 2010 July 07, 01:24:46
I'm a little confused on the scoring system - could someone explain it to me in more detail?  For instance does a higher overall number mean the person is more or less likely to be pollinated?  It appears that the individual numbers being higher increases the odds of pollination, but the overall score being lower increases the odds of pollination.  If a sims' overall number is at or below 50, is that person considered a redneck (assuming I'm using the default settings)?  If someone wants to give me the actual formula that would be cool.

Below is my assumption on how the different scores are influenced, are these correct?

Job Score (JS) - based on level of job

Financial Score (FiS) - based on total value for household, including house, lot, stuff and cash on hand

Family Score (FaS) - based on single/married, number of kids already have

ReS - I have no clue what this is.  Is this the raw Redneck score?

Age Score/Compressed Age Score (AS) - first number gets higher as you age, the second one is bell-curve-ish

Wish Score (WS) - higher if family oriented or showing want to have babies

Risk Score (RiS) - higher if flirty, hopeless romantic, great kisser, party animal

Why would you save a game with a giant blue hole in a lot?

I didn't notice the giant blue hole until I needed to buy some more shower in a cans.  It could have been there from day 1 for all I know.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I screwed up China on: 2010 January 17, 23:41:53
This happened a while ago, so not saving isn't an option.  I have no idea how it happened.

Whenever I visit China, the market is missing (see picture).  Any ideas on how to fix it?

16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / WA - constant lagging/freezing on: 2009 November 29, 02:50:38
I did a search and could not find any posts that describe my problem, but if I missed it, I apologize.

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 and Sims 3 and Sims 3 WA.  I have absolutely no mods and no custom content installed (not even store stuff) and I am fully patched.  My computer stats are below.  I took my Carmen Sandiego sim to France and about 10 minutes into the Celtic Ruins I started experiencing random freezing - about every 1-3 seconds.  It happens regardless of the size of the lot, number of sims on the lot or what the sim is doing.  I have tried rebooting, reinstalling and every voodoo chant I know.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

19  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 22, 14:15:48
With the latest version of awesomemod I am getting absolutely no romantic interactions.  Nothing is happening in rabbit holes, no one is being pollinated, nada.  I'm only getting people going to work, getting jobs and moving houses.  I have plenty of cribs.
20  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 12, 11:43:42
When AM is determining if a family should move, is it counting the number of beds or bedrooms?

The reason that I ask is that I have a completely cleaned out Sunset Valley that only has 2 types of houses, 1.) a 3 bedroom, 3 single bed, 1 double bed, 2 crib, 2 bath house and 2.) a 4 bedroom, 6 single bed, 1 double bed, 3 crib, 3 bath house.  It seems like AM always moves a family that has a baby from the smaller house to the larger house and I'm wondering why - there should be plenty of room for them to stay in the smaller house.
21  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 11, 23:12:23
I am running a wolfrun in my test neighborhood and everything appears to be working now (4 babies have been spawned).

Would it be possible to get a notification when the baby is actually born, not just when it is pollinated?  I keep track of the entire family tree of my main family in my real neighborhoods, so I need to know the names and if there are twins/triplets and I can't get this info until after the baby is born.
22  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 08, 19:30:54
Married couples seem to move to a more crowded house every time despite available room in groom's house.
I'm seeing the same thing in my test hood.  I started off with 3 families - 1 with 8 single unrelated young adult males, 1 with 8 singled unrelated young adult females and my Botwin family.  It's been about 30 days and in that time, 1 family has moved in (a couple), 1 male/female pair married and moved into an empty house, 1 male/female pair married and moved into the boy house and 1 male/female pair married and moved into the girl house.  Absolutely no babies.

My neighborhood is going to die out very quickly.  There are 20-25 empty houses that have 1 double bed, 3 single beds, 2 cribs, 2 bath/showers and stove/fridge for under $16k and 10-15 houses that have 1 double bed, 6 single bed, 3 cribs, 3 bath/showers and stove/fridge for under $20k.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch ponderings... on: 2009 August 01, 17:48:02
Legal here.  Patch and latest version of AM with ISM worked fine after replacing the families.
24  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Install 1.3 update or not? on: 2009 July 28, 23:56:16
It appears as if the patch will not instal if you have removed the premade families from the Library. I had to replace mine.
Ugh. How anal. Why is the patch worried about whether you have those damned families installed. *sigh* Good thing I backed them up.
Anyone know how to get these back if we weren't smart enough to back them up?
25  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 20, 22:37:43
Thanks Motoki.  I realized about 3 minutes after posting that I may not have completed the "copy & paste" step for ISM.
