Why not just use a teleporter to get them to show up? I've got various at simlogical that do various things. Saves you having to make a sim available to greet them, or even go to the phone in the first place.

I don't think it would make a lot of difference. I dare say it's as difficult to speak intelligibly with one lip as none

I am sure Jeff, like most responsible Sims modders, will continue to try wherever possible to make his hacks fit in with whatever else there is out there in the community, regardless of what site they are hosted on. However, it's not always practical to make a mod that is compatible, and I would rather the incompatible mods were occasionally made in order to allow players a choice rather than that there should be some sort of syndicate to suppress those which might clash - or only make those which will not. Again, responsible modders will always be happy to advise on compatibility and help players sort out conflicts.

Yes, yes, your Ingelogical viewpoint is that everyone should have their own seperate site, we know. To some extent, you may have a point, but I think it's more a question of the site you end up than anything else. However, I didn't say *no one* should be co-admins; I said *you two* should never have been co-admins. There's more than a subtle difference between those two statements. My preference for many small sites rather than one or two huge ones does not go as far as saying each site should only have one creator associated with it! Groups of two or three are great, as are the occasional large site as long as they don't approach monopoly status. I use and support large sites such as TSR and MTS2, as well as mid-sized sites such as VS

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation, Rentechd and Pescado have completely different concepts of how a site should be run and should never have become co-admins. Never.
I think it's sad that it happened, that it went wrong, and there's no point in anyone openly taking sides and keeping the wounds open; just like with a divorce, the involved parties have to adjust to it in their own ways.

You mean it said "this is a duplicate" and then didn't say where its twin was? That's a flaw in the tool then, and perhaps it would be a good idea to tell whoever wrote the tool.
But in any case if that's the only one left, I don't suppose it's going to have a great impact on your game, so there may be nothing to worry about any more. All the same, the software author would like to know if the thing's only doing half its job.

It's just occurred to me they can't get their aspiration based on a childhood friend, because they wouldn't have their aspiration yet. Their highest long term relationship is likely to be with a parent, but wouldn't it be boring to have yet one more thing that gets passed down through the family?
In reality there are two things that guide you through life. Aspirations (often unrealistic) and Expectations. Expectations you would get through your long-term relationships, the people whose context you define yourself in, while aspirations tend to be based on people you admire, who could be someone unattainable like a pop star - or even someone admirable like Marie Curie. The majority of us settle down to simply trying to fulfill our expectations.

It should be the person they have the highest short-term relationship with at the time they have to choose the aspiration. I say short term rather than long term, because at the age sims are when they have to choose, it will be the "flavour of the month" friend who influences them the most

Ok I know about the one in objects.package because you told me that before, but what is the other one with the same GUID? If it found a duplicate GUID, presumably it told you which file had the duplicate in it?

Well I don't know what tool you're using to scan for duplicates so I can't answer based on your description of what you observed. But were both reports of that duplicate both found in the file called "objects.package"? Or was one instance of that GUID in a download? What was the object or file called?

No, it is never correct to see two objects with the same GUID - the only exception being if you know you have downloaded a hack that clearly says it is a replacement for a Maxis object, to make it work differently. Then it does need the same GUID as the one it is replacing, or it won't replace it.
Recolours should not contain the OBJD part of the package, therefore they do not have their own GUIDs. If something that calls itself a recolour has an OBJD and a GUID, it's been made wrong and you should delete it and tell the creator. In the early days, a lot of people were making recolouring mistakes, and have corrected them now. Go back to where you got the faulty recolour from and see if you can get a fixed version.
If it's an actual whole object with the same GUID as either the original object or a completely different one, and you didn't download it intending it to replace another object (which would stop you using the original object) then that too is an error and it needs deleting and seeing if there is a fixed version.
I think when Pescado said it was ok in a recolour, he may have been thinking of where you put the GUID of the object into a MMAT part of a package, and it tells the recolour what object it's meant to be a recolour for. But your duplicate GUID scanner should not pick up references to GUIDs in that part of the file. If you are getting told about duplicates, then that would be in the parts where they can cause problems.

I don't think you will use the beta because you're a wussie. You need courage to test beta forum software on a live forum. I wouldn't want to lead you into doing something you're uncomfortable with by telling you all the nice new features of the latest beta.
