576  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 14, 22:09:43
This is a relatively minor one, but....

Has the changing table been fixed to add the option to Plan Outfit...Undies for toddlers?  You can plan outfit for toddlers with everyday and pj's since Uni, but there's no way to use the toddler underwear created in Body Shop, no matter how many outfits you buy.

A word of warning about this:  I had a similar problem on one of my lots and decided to move the family in with another existing family (play the 2nd house, use Propose...Move in to move them in).  This left the house and furnishings on the first lot intact, but unfortunately it still left the hordes of offworld loiterers for the next family to deal with.  I didn't try moving the family out from the neighborhood screen.

The easiest way to fix it is to move the family out of the house and back in again.

You can prevent this from happening in the future with Pescado's "death bug fix".

Hope this helps.

Why did you have to change their aspiration if you were going to change their LTW in SimPE anyway?  I would think that it wouldn't matter what their aspiration was if you were going to use SimPE to change the LTW.

All the LTW options in SimPE were grayed out (unselectable) as long as she remained a Family Sim.  I did the only thing I could think of at the time, which was to change her aspiration in-game and then try SimPE again.  It worked, but maybe I just got lucky.  After she had a valid LTW I was able to change her aspiration back to Family during gameplay with no problem.

Maybe you could have thought of a better solution, but this method worked for me.

If the sim you mention is one of the Maxis sims, then they can get a new LTW with the debugger because it's designed to use family LTWs, but any CAS sim will almost certainly roll a blank icon.  It's not even possible with CAS adults to get all the normal options if the LTW fix is installed.

Why is that?  I have a feeling that's what happened to me, because this was definitely a CAS-created Sim.

581  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2005 September 05, 12:38:41
But I would think being a Family sim she could at least get the Golden Anniversary or Have 6 grandchildren want because those are definitely achievable by elders.

Exactly!  I think the Golden Anniversary, at least, should have been available even with the hack installed.

I was able to get around the problem by changing her aspiration to something other than Family, then going into SimPE and picking Golden Anniversary as her LTW, then going back into the game and changing her back to a Family Sim using Merola's painting.  And when I had the anniversary party, it did fulfill her LTW, so she's OK for now.  But I still think this is a bug.

582  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2005 September 05, 01:38:04
One of my CAS-created Sims just turned into an elder, and as she was a Family Sim about to have her 6th grandchild, I decided to reroll her LTW to see if I could get that one to come up.  I rerolled using the Lot Fixer and her LTW disappeared.  If I change her aspiration (using Merola's painting) to something other than Family, everything is normal.  But as long as she is a Family Sim, she does not have a LTW.  Even in SimPE, the LTW is blank and there is no way to select any of the options.

Her LTW before I did the re-roll was "send 3 kids to college", but since she's past childbearing and her 4 kids are all adults, that isn't going to happen.  I want to give her something achievable, like "golden anniversary" or "have 6 grandchildren".

Any ideas?  I'm not seeing this with any other families, so maybe this is something specific to CAS-created Sims?  She was created in CAS as an adult, if that matters.

Forgot to mention - I have the ltwvariety hack installed.

If there are two files listed at the tops of the sims pages, (2 different numbers, for example 00025 and 00237) then you can open the characters folder in the neighbourhood folder and take out one of them.  I'd back the hood up first, then stick one file on the desktop until you're sure it's working ok.  But make sure the one you keep has all the necessary info, like relationships etc.  Any problems you can then simply go back to the back up folder and try something else.

Unfortunately in my case that won't work.  The two Sims have the same character file (00819), same GUID, but different instance values (something that you can only see by looking at the Sim Browser).  There is only one copy of the 00819 character file in the Characters folder.  I suppose I could delete it, but I don't want to do that yet because I don't really want to kill him off except as a last resort.

The exact same thing happened to me yesterday, except that I don't want to delete this Sim unless absolutely necessary.  (In my case the problem Sim is in a family that I want to keep playing.)  Is there a way to use SimPE to delete the duplicate GUID?  If so, how exactly do you do it?

585  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Duplicate GUIDs in character file on: 2005 August 30, 15:38:32
One of my Sims' character files got corrupted during the transition from teen to adult.  He looks like a teen but acts like an adult.  (And no, he's not a YA; he acts like a regular adult in a teen's body.)  When I bring up the Sim Browser in SimPE, it lists him twice, with the same GUID (the value in the last column of the Sim Browser is different, though).  SimPE gives a warning message telling me about the duplicate, but I have no idea how to get rid of the extra one.  Can anybody help?

I would leave it alone except that I want to fix this Sim's family tree (it doesn't list any of his family members) and I get an error when I click on this Sim (or any of his relatives) in the Family Ties screen in SimPE.

Thanks,
Karen

Have you got the parents desperate to encourage him to be nice?

Not yet, but I've been playing other families recently and haven't spent much time with this family in a while.  He only just turned into a kid, so maybe they just haven't had the opportunity yet.

The "firstborn effect" is what causes all of your babies to be identical to each other in personality...unless you randomize. It's still possible they'll end up the same anyway, but that's another factor at work.

I like this randomize feature a lot.  Sometimes it produces surprising results.  I have a kid in one of my families who was born with zero nice points, even though his parents have at least 6 or 7 each.  This happens to be a kid who was born after I'd used randomize a bunch of times in a row.  I haven't quite decided what he's going to be when he grows up (Criminal, probably....)

One question:  I saw an option on the Lot Debugger that had something to do with mood meters (I think....I only saw it once and I forgot to write it down.)  Can you tell me what that is for?

588  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change eyebrow color for custom hair? on: 2005 August 28, 22:33:34
I tried changing the proxy value to my custom hair color, dcbf7a8f-4cbe-9f9a-d352-d18d3a79c17a.  There was no effect on my Sims in the neighborhood, but the custom hair disappeared from both the in-game CAS and the Change Appearance screen.  As soon as I changed the proxy back to the standard brown 00000002-0000-0000-0000-000000000000, the custom hair was available again.

After playing around with the hair files in SimPE, I have come to the conclusion that what I want to do (have the eyebrows show up as a custom color that matches the custom hair) is not possible, at least with the current tools.  You *can* change the eyebrow color, but only to the standard black, brown, blond, or red.  So if you have a Sim with light brown hair, there is no way to make light brown eyebrows to match, which is what I was trying to do.

If anybody has any other ideas, please let me know.  Otherwise I think I'm going to give it up for now.  Thanks to everybody who tried to help.

589  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change eyebrow color for custom hair? on: 2005 August 28, 17:30:54
To avoid this problem, open up your custom hair in SymPe & click on the Propert Set. Make sure it's the Plugin view. Look for the line that says Proxy. You need to change that value to match what the hair color actuall is so the custom hair will get the correct colored eyebrows.

00000001-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 for Black
00000002-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 for Brown
00000003-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 for Blond
00000002-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 for Red
00000002-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 for Grey

Click commit & then save the hair. Check all of your custom hair because a lot of people making custom hair do not even know they have to change this value if they are making as you say a black hair into a brown hair.

Once the Proxy value is correct the genetics will work properly.

Thanks, I'll try that.  I tried Rainbow's method described above but it doesn't really do what I was looking for.

590  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Build/buy catalog is empty on: 2005 August 28, 17:28:11
All of a sudden I can't access any items in my Build/Buy catalog.  I can get to the items that are in collections, so the Collections folder is not affected.  But there are no objects in the Buy mode catalog, not even the Maxis default objects.  It's not that Buy mode is grayed out, but that there are no objects in any of the categories.

I have not downloaded anything new in a couple of weeks, and everything was fine earlier today.  Do I have to reinstall?  Is there anything I can do to fix this, short of reinstalling?  Everything else is working fine; the game seems to be able to access many different types of objects in my Downloads folder, including hacks like Macrotastics and the baby controller.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Karen

Thanks.  Now I just have to test it to see if the changed colors are automatically passed down to the babies, or if you have to fix the babies' eyebrow colors in SimPE after they are born.

You can also change eyebrow colours with SimPE, by editting genetics

How, exactly?  I know where the DNA information is in SimPE but I don't know which string to edit to change the eyebrow color.

Rainbow:  That is the same problem I ran into.  I have no idea how other people are managing to create custom colors for either eyebrows or facial hair.

594  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change eyebrow color for custom hair? on: 2005 August 24, 18:11:40
On a case-by-case basis, you can change their eyebrows to a custom (matching) one when you create the Sim.

Jen

But would this become part of the DNA, i.e. something that could be passed down to future generations?

I tried once to recolor eyebrows in Body Shop and could not figure out how to do it.  I could change the shape but not the color.  (I don't have any problem recoloring other things in Body Shop.)

Karen
595  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Is there a way to change eyebrow color for custom hair? on: 2005 August 24, 15:09:03
When you create custom hair in Body Shop, the eyebrow color seems to be determined by the hair color that you cloned the custom hair from.  For example, if you take a black hair style, clone it, change the color to light brown, and import it into Body Shop, any Sims you create with the new hair style will have light brown hair, but black eyebrows.

Is there any way to recolor the eyebrows to match the custom hair?  What I'm looking for is a way to change it permanently in the Sim DNA so that the matching eyebrow color will be inherited along with the custom hair color.  That way you would be able to tell by the eyebrow color if a baby has inherited a custom hair style/color, long before the baby grows into a toddler.

Any ideas, or is this just not possible right now?

596  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Plastic Surgery for Child and up on: 2005 August 19, 20:45:31
One time I created a female adult in CAS with long curly black hair.  I thought she was pretty good-looking, but I guess I tinkered too much with her facial features in CAS.  She married a reasonably good-looking Sim, and they had three daughters.  The oldest was OK as a toddler, had a sort of Hitler mustache as a child, then grew into a hideously ugly teen and adult.  (Her younger sisters were ugly, but not to this extent.)  I couldn't stand looking at this Sim, but didn't kill her off because I wanted her to pass down the custom hair to future generations.  Now, finally, about 3 generations later, the ugliness seems to have been bred out of her descendants.  I wish I'd had the plastic surgery machine when this one was growing up (this was before Uni came out), I definitely would have used it on her, and maybe on her sisters, too.

The social bunny I can sort of see needing multiples of, up to a maximum of eight. But Social worker? You can't even interact with her, and they all look basically identical anyway! Variety is good, but only if it's not pointless.

One time I happened to be playing a lot where there were two social bunnies (different colors) active at the same time.  Their respective Sims had been quiet for a while (asleep, probably) and the two bunnies suddenly started interacting with each other.  They progressed all the way to kissing and making out before I got tired of watching and interrupted them.  Social bunnies in love??  Weird, huh?

598  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: macrotastics questions on: 2005 July 21, 20:06:20
I'm still having problems with pregnant Sims set to Power Idle nearly starving to death because they are too exhausted to eat.  The scenario goes something like this:  Pregnant Sim's hunger and energy are both very low.  Eventually her energy drops low enough that the Go to Bed is triggered.  Meanwhile her hunger continues to drop.  When hunger gets into the red, if I try to get her out of bed to prepare food or eat (or if the Macro...Eat is triggered automatically), often the Macro...Go to Bed will be triggered before she even takes a bite.  So she goes back to bed, but now she's too hungry to sleep.  She wakes up, signals hunger desperation, maybe takes a few steps toward the kitchen, but she's still exhausted, so the Go to Bed is triggered again and she jumps back into bed.  Cycle repeats until she is in danger of starving to death, or until I take pity on her and put a source of food (and a chair and table) right next to her bed so she won't have to go far to reach it.  Even then it takes a lot of effort to get her to stay awake long enough to eat.

Is it possible to make the Macro...Eat take precedence over the Macro...Go to Bed, in situations where both are in the red but Hunger is so low as to be life-threatening?  Given a choice between having my Sim pass out or starve to death, I'll take the "pass out" option any day.

You said you have the phone hack installed.  Is it the pre-Uni version or the Uni-only version?  And do you have University installed or not?  You will get these symptoms if you use the old (pre-Uni) version of the phone hack with University.

Hope this helps.
