26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 30, 18:12:56
Normally I lurk a lot, read a lot, and try not to post a lot, as english is my secondary language, and I am scared of the grammar police. But, I have a question and I am hankering for an answer, so here goes:

Do anyone know what fertilization of the plants you can grow actually do? As I understand it, quality is based on what you plant, (The seed's quality +1 = the plant's quality) and thus fertilization with rare fish or plants, means nothing. So I am wondering if anyone have found a secret about it that I am missing.

*Runs for cover again.*

Science: At the top, level 10, you get to do experiments on all furniture at home. It mostly makes the items give out mood boosts or have a higher room score, but can also backfire, giving bad moodlets or emitting annoying sounds. Quite fun to mess around with.

I have recently moved a family via the phone/move menu, and I had them pack up their house as the menu suggests. WHen they safely arrived at the new house, all their belongings, including he driveway, but not the farming plants, I ran into a problem.

How the #"¤"%%"!!! do you move fish from the family inventory to either a personal inventory, or a fridge? I cant seem to do anything with the fish in there, and i honestly have no idea where they are from, as the sims still have theirs in their own inventories, and the fridge is still stocked with its own.

Any clues? Or are they just stuck with 10 stacks of useless fish?

Sims can read the harry potterish books with the toddlers, It helps them get skills as a kid, along with the rest of the toddler books.

clicking and dragging from the top most left coner (where the shade of blue is darker than the rest of the background behind the veggie) will drag the entire stack. Simply clicking once will open the stack in a new window.

- Gardening is cool but...is randomly picking up a seed off the ground the only way to get them?  If so it strikes me as a little goofy.  I'd rather be able to buy a pack of seeds at the store.  You can always keep the uncommon and rare seeds lying around for sims to find.  Otherwise I'm having a good time with it.

Actually you can buy all the common types of veggies at the food shop, and then just plant those. The seeds that you find can be common, uncommon, rare or special. The latter ones tend to not show up till you have a higher gardening skill. But you can get started with the common ones with no need to go scavenging.

Yeah, i tried that upgrae, and then had to spend half the nigh getting rid of it again so the rest of the family could get some sleep. I still want sims 2 stereo functions rather than this!
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 23, 12:37:20

In other news, I realized my Sims stereo only works when playing CUSTOM music! All other stations and Sims 3 music is not working.

sigh.

Mine does the same. At the gym, the 'Electronica' station worked for a short while, and also the buy mode has also worked, but it's very intermittent. I have just updated my audio drivers so I will see if that makes a difference but somehow I doubt it will.

I am not sure whether you already noticed this, but the stereos only play music in one room. Unlike sims 2 where the music played all over, albeit lower and lower the farther you gor from the stereo, in sims 3 it only plays in one room, the one where the stereo is. Go to any other room, or outside, and you cant hear the music. At least that is how it works in my game.

ETA: Btw, this bugs the crap out of me. In sims 2 i used the stereo as a kind of background music, but with this new system, i have to have stereos in all rooms and outdoors to get the same effect. Flard!

If you click and drag from the top left corner (the one that is slightly more blue than the background of the veggie of food) you can drag an entire stack to the fridg. That helps a lot in moving stuff.

Last, my male sim is a neat-freak and being in law enforcement, he has to rummage in neighbor garbages to get intel. He didn't like it, and got a negative moodlet that was suppose to go away in 10 mins. It had been 4 days with the same time, so I guess that's another bug.

That happened to my sim as well. Took me most of a sim day to discover that my sim had collected "evidence" from the trashcans, in the form of trash, and had stuffed it in his inventory. Thus he was always near the trash so the counter on the moodlet got reset every minute.

The sollution is simple. Clean out te trash in the inventory and wait 10 minutes. Voila!

Anyone ever made it to the top of the science career? You get to do experiments on all the furniture, whic can either give beneficial effects like better comfort or roomscore, or set stuff on fire. Finally something good came out of this tedious work business.

BTW, anyone figured out how to get an omni plant at home?
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 20, 18:34:40
Im currently toying with a family and have tried the farming route. But there are one thing driving me up a wall, so now I come here begging for help.

I have managed to find most plants, including the omniplant that is mentioned when you level gardening skill to 10nd the flame Fruit bush. But where in sweet heaven have they hidden the money tree? Has anyone found one of those yet?

In advance thank you very much, for any and all assistance rendered.

I don't know if this has been posted before but what is wrong with this?

Is it my graphic card?

Also, once I bought a bike and then a sim came over and he had a blank icon and when I hovered over the action icon it read "default unallocated come and see action" or something like that. Can't remember the exact wording. Perhaps it's a glitch or maybe it is an earlier build. Tongue I don't know.
That happens to my sims as well, any time you look at them from behind the sim, out over the water.

To take it from the back:

2. Nope, Only meant for sports to be limited by Athletics.

1.Anyone can max out an enthusiasm for a hobby as they want to, as just cooking or twidling your thumbs seems to generate enthusiasm. What I have tried to limit, are the benefits you gain as you get more and more enthusiasm in a hobby. Such as Serve Cheese platter, Take a Hike, Tell everyone and their aunt about your newfound love of 16th century simlish litterature, Gather bugs and so on and so forth.

I hope that clears it up a little, i will be editing my document so at least my version has a better explanation.

And please comment away. The more that talks about it the merrier, and the more chance of new apocalypse stories for me to read Smiley
40  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Pinstar's new Apocalypse challenge on: 2009 March 21, 16:41:31
Righto, I will finish it and then post it here. Might take me a few hours to come up with the flavour texts, but it should be up later today.

/edited to add the pdf file, as well as mention that ive kept the original flavour text. I had a brainfreeze so no changes there. Rules are slightly edited though, compared to what is on the googlethingie.
41  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Pinstar's new Apocalypse challenge on: 2009 March 21, 10:59:32
Its actually those rules im basing my apocalypse on, although ive added a few of my own as well, specifically about the aspiration perks you can now buy.

Ive edited mine, and will be rounding it off nicely, with some new flavour text as the old one is getting to be rather out of date, and can post mine here if anyone is interested. Its updated as far as Mansion, which should tidy us over nicely.
42  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Pinstar's new Apocalypse challenge on: 2009 March 20, 10:34:15
Necromancy may be bad, but this is atopic relevant question.

I have searched a lot, but apparently my google-fu and my MATY-searching-fu leaves a lot to be desired, as the couple of hours I have spend trying different ways of gleaning the info i want, havent yielded any results i could use. I learned a lot about creating townies, and about clean templates, but not the thing i was looking for.

What i need to know is, what type of townies, if any, have any of the more fun careers, such as Adventurer og Natural Scientist, or Archetecture...

And if noone has them, would creating a CAS sim, giving him/her the right career, and townifying them, make them keep the career, or will it randomize their chosen workline once more?
43  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Chance Cards: A Quick Gambler's Guide on: 2009 March 19, 15:47:11
Ive done it once already to this thread, and here i go again. Sorry bout this, but its relevant.

I am trying to do the apocalypse challenge, updated to AL and with Mansion rules and all. One of the rules limits the perks i can take for my apoc chars. (Bye bye 80% chance of suces perk) Another one states that you HAVE to choose an option if a chance card comes up while at work.

Since there are a few careers left out of the table, specifically the newest ones, in SOL when i gotta pick a card on those. Sooo, any chance they could be added to the list, even though the perk with 80% succes rate overrules them (if picked that is)?

Many thanks in advance, and i know necromancy is bad. I still practice it though ;-)
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AL gameplay questions and help on: 2008 August 31, 14:06:54
ok, I seem to have a gameplay problem. Or rather, theres something I cannot find.

The tooltips says that to move pictures on the wall up or down, i should press the [ or] keys.
Those i have to use ALT GR to get written, and Nothing happens when i do that. Ive gone as far as to try random keys on the keyboard, with alt, ctrl and alt gr pressed, and so far all ive managed to do, is to make the world spin either way, unable to stop again.

So, anyone who can help me on how to do that?
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apartment Life: Obligatory Hate/Love Topic on: 2008 August 27, 18:56:27
I yanked all my custom stuff and am fooling around in one of the pregenerated neighbourhoods, and so far i am happy

I really like the new spell stuff, and i also like the apartment part of it

What ive found so far on the negative side, was, my sim befriended the evil withc, asked to be inducted, and went green instantly. Not what i had planned.
Also, for some reason my game keeps thinking theres mail in the mailbox all the time, but when a sim tries to collect it, the old mailbox from the regular houses turns up for a split second, and then the sim jumps.

Other than that, so far only thumbs up from me Cheesy
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 May 30, 17:48:26
yeah, they add money to the familys fund. What i were hoping for, were a way for me to simulate that a lot costs whatever it costs, plus say 10 grand per square of it. So a 2x2 lot, would cost an additional 40.000 simoleons to be paid off by the family living there.
That, plus just general tax paying. Only bad thing about moniques payment thingie, is that i gotta set the amount myself, it cant just grab say 2 or 5 % of the familys funds every week. Thats more what I had in mind.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 May 29, 07:39:26
I wish there was a mod that allowed me to set daily / weekly / quarterly payments up, where i could choose from say a percentage of the funds in the house, or set a certain amount that would need to be paid off, in 10, 20 or 30 installments.

Kind of like a loan, except I dont want the sims to recieve the simoleons first, I just need them to pay of the loan.
The rest of the mod would help with me emulating taxes, something that could help keep the amount of dough in my sims families down to a more fair level. I already have a strict policy of items only being sold at OFB businesses, and at highly elevated costs, to make sure nobody becomes filthy rich in the first generation.

Another wish of mine, is that i really wish there was a way to edit the prices in the buy catalogue on all the maxis items.

That explains a few odd things at my dorms... Bhaaaa you, I never would have thought it worked like that.

*Wanders off to edit a dorm*
