51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anti Generate Townies (But Not Pets) on: 2007 August 20, 16:59:22
You're not actually getting aliens or duplicates. The thumbnails are just wrong as of Pets.

Spawn the lot, then look in SimPE. They're normal townies/downtownie clones/dormies.
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: When I place an object next to "the great divide" fence, I get a shadow...?? on: 2007 August 20, 10:27:23
No, I haven't noticed that. I suspect Gunmod's lighting hack.
The divider works as a room separator so the lighting hack would end its light at it.

It should be the last one (highest number) in there. Delete from there to uninstall it.

Zaz - shift-click error them. Or use Pesc's invisible object destroyer.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No More Bug Infestations While Gardening in Seasons on: 2007 August 15, 10:28:45
There is some clipping, at least I saw it when I tried to place them in a greenhouse. Doesn't affect gameplay apparently though.
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moving the butterfly spot on: 2007 August 15, 10:18:02
A fully fenced garden could do it. A caged in area (even with the steppable fences) is not always considered outside. Make sure at least one side (like a lot edge) is not fenced.
You can use water (a lake) as a border and still have butterflys,
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moving the butterfly spot on: 2007 August 15, 07:11:31
Seems to be butterflies spawn near flowers or bushes, on the first patch of land with one land tile free on at least three sides. Therefore no floor tiles or lawn decorations can be placed too close to the flowers, or the flutterbys are shifted away.

My cursor becoms a star when I can catch them. Perhaps this is tied to the snow cursor?
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it safe to rename your neighbourhoods? on: 2007 August 11, 14:05:24
As long as the instances are unique, it doesn't matter.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fine control of wants/fears on: 2007 August 11, 12:32:43
Wait. The want to go to uni usually disappears on -4 days for my teens.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Friends and Birds on: 2007 July 13, 00:33:19
You're right. I was confusing this with the "big man on campus" want, which /does/ suffer from a counting problem due to this.
61  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Life Stories Lamp Download on: 2007 July 12, 23:22:03
Ta!

The other stuff you can get here: http://rapidshare.com/users/89CIFQ

Note that all /those/ items have been ripped from other expansions though.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Friends and Birds on: 2007 July 12, 22:49:57
Why do you assume the dead Sim isn't counted?
The LTW just checks how many "best friends" memories you have, not if these are for valid Sims. IIRC you can get it even with just one Sim, by losing and regaining the best friend status over and over.
63  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Maxis Jukebox (Nightlife) Whitout the green diamond in seven Colors on: 2007 July 12, 22:37:58
That one came with the Life Stories or Pet Stories kit. Thanks for the recolours.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Installing the Seasons - problem where existing suburb is not B001 on: 2007 July 12, 14:17:35
Seasons, like Pets before it, has a stealth subneighbourhood in its files. I don't know exactly what is going on here (I have never deleted a subneighbourhood since getting Seasons, or migrated an old neighbourhood across), but that's where I'd look for it.
65  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Default Medieval Townies & Base Game NPC's for all. on: 2007 July 11, 21:41:53
IIRC, for example England used to enslave even its own subjects well into recorded history. It's a good way to end a rebellion: remove citizinship from the rebellious population!  Also helps demotivate those who fight on, if they know their mothers, wives, sisters etc. are being sold on the market. Wasn't this one of the atrocities under the Cromwell regime?
Not to mention the treatment of the  Irish and Scottish by the English.

And most black slaves were caught, transported to the coast, and sold to muslims and later Europeans, by other blacks.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maternity Clothes on: 2007 July 11, 18:29:14
One conflict I know of - it doesn't work with the Inteenimater. Go to my section on Jase's forum if you want a compatible forum.
I don't use the hack myself, but I suppose as long as you know what it is and how to use it, it will work. Your Sim will still get maternity clothing assigned, but you can dress them back in any kind of casualwear with the Squinge hack in. This does lead to the loss of a belly mesh usually -- that's where this new hack comes into play.

And yes, a large number of Sims users tends to be extremely stupid. It's an unfortunate miracle that they manage to power up their PC and connect to the internet every day Sad

As for conflicts -- if this belly mesh mod works by modifying the property sets, it risks conflicting with any other mod that does the same. Luckily the HCDU should be able to catch it though.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone using Comodo Firewall Pro? on: 2007 July 11, 08:05:55
Sounds like spyware antics to me. When is the last time you did a deep scan of your system for malware?

No program should ever be allowed to modify the memory of a third-party program. This is exactly how trojan horses work: they attach themselves to a legit process like a web browser, and do their damage in the background.

Might be the game, or the keygen.
68  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Uni+LS Career LTWs on: 2007 July 10, 12:01:48
They're fully featured careers with chancecards and aspiration objects. And they have LTWs.

These careers are not in Seasons. Game Development and Gamer are quite different. As are Entertainment and Music.

So the perks are they work just like Maxis careers (except they lack a teenelder track). There are very few CC careers which offer aspiration objects, and only the best of them have chance cards and Maxis-like descriptions (many seem to use a first-person writing style or retardo-English/Netspeak). And no custom career I know of has an LTW.

I'm sure there's a tutorial somewhere for userstartup.cheat, but I can't find it now.

Snotty Sims has a basic one you can download: http://www.snootysims.com/cheatsindex.php?id=userstartup
Just place this in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config and then edit it in Notepad.
I have a large userstartup.cheat with many aliases and cheats in it, but my ISP's homepage server is down at the moment so I can't point you to it. which I have attached here. Review before using -- I've documented everything in it. You'll want to uncomment the last line (# at the start makes a line a comment, which is ignored by the game).

I have the testing cheats on by default, and also the faceBlendLimits are set to off. Additionally I use boolProp unevenTilesFloorable true to build on uneven floors, and floatProp tvVolume 0.1 (quiter TVs) and setHighestAllowedLevel 50 (building trick).

One more thing to add, just to be sure -- anything marked an "alias" is a shorter way to use a cheat. For example if I want to enable moveobjects, I go to the cheat console, and type "m". To disable, I use "m-". This is shorter than typing moveObjects on/off.
Additionally, since these aliases have help text defined, the y appear in the console if I type "help" should I ever forget them.
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid QOD: Which Uni hack was it that disabled neighborhood moveout? on: 2007 July 10, 00:02:01
FFS = Pescado's hacks.

You run OFB+Celebrations? That there could be a source of problems. Basically your game is now schizophrenic, and doesn't know what version it runs (blame EAxis and their weird coding for the last two stuff packs).

Other possibility:
Have you run the HCDU from simwardrobe.com? It should conflict any hack conflict. Unless you know two conflicting hacks work together (i.e. are designed to conflict), remove one of the pair and see if it works.

When did this problem start by the way? After installing Celebrations?
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Blue Screen of Doom on: 2007 July 09, 23:16:37
Not sure if it is proven, but when I was running TS2 on my GeForceFX 5900XT and suffered from the crasher bug, running in windowed mode allowed me to play with shaders on without the crash every 30 mins or so.

Windowed mode plays more smoothly for me as well, but you can see the system take more resources. If your system can barely run Seasons as is, windowed play might not work.
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid QOD: Which Uni hack was it that disabled neighborhood moveout? on: 2007 July 09, 23:11:35
Inteen + FFS clothing mod globals will conflict, as it says in the Inteen documentation which noone ever reads, because reading is hard.

I don't know any other hack conflict that causes this exact error.
73  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Seasons Error Message on: 2007 July 09, 17:57:05
It is quite possible Seasons refuses to run where Pets did: Seasons has once again significantly raised system requirements, like the expansions before it.

Does Seasons say you're up to date after installing? Then you're NOT patched. Seasons installs the unpatched version of Seasons, but checks if the base game is patched. /That/ is what it reports about. Get the patches for all expansions you have from http://www.thesims2.com/ and install them.
I don't think patches will make a real difference though. Rather, if someone with the same system as you /can/ play it, I'd look at device drivers, and running software. Turn off malware like Norton or McAfee to free up resources before playing.
74  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Blue Screen of Doom on: 2007 July 09, 17:17:19
There is a known crasher bug with (pre-8) Nvidia cards and TS2.

Put the following in your userstartup.cheat file:
Code:
boolprop useshaders false
The downside of this is, you will lose the fish in the aquaria and pools.

Another way to prevent the crashes is to play in windowed mode, but keep in mind this is more heavy on the system. Your specs show your system should be able to handle it, though.
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inventory box on: 2007 July 09, 09:56:51
Works just like that. Haven't tried the fishing things yet, but the produce ones work that way.
