1  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons) on: 2007 September 08, 17:14:41
Actually, once a townie is first loaded by the game (as a townie -- thus not when teleported in) s/he will be given a random job and skillpoint distribution.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods? on: 2007 September 06, 23:26:27
I fully plan to do some fixes for Squinge mods, wherever needed. But at the moment I haven't even installed BV yet Wink

Same for my own mods obviously.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Duplicate character files in SimPE? on: 2007 September 06, 18:28:25
Unknown to Unknown are usually the robots or birds. Quaxi just doesn't seem to want to add identification for these like he has for the Reaper etc..
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vampire Biting Habits on: 2007 September 05, 17:50:14
That was the case in NL IIRC... not sure if it changed afterwards. I have not seen a vampire townie autonomously bite, ever.
Playables may very well do so. They follow different rules.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vampire Biting Habits on: 2007 September 05, 17:14:31
With the exception that they bite autonomously (normal vampires don't), are called count/countess, and wear a special outfit.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Replacing CAS faces on: 2007 September 04, 21:24:43
Somewhere in a post by Argon on facial templates here. He had uploaded it to show you could indeed add new facial archetypes.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting Maxis Items. on: 2007 September 04, 18:45:24
Nope. Townies never get hats, makeup, glasses, etc..

Only the downtownie templates have these, but they always look exactly the same.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Replacing CAS faces on: 2007 September 04, 08:34:22
Face blending can only be turned off with the cheat faceBlendLimits off

All it does is make sure faces are not too far apart from the templates (within limits -- Marduk the Destroyer spawn will still look hideous).

I use AmberDiceless' faces, except templates 21 and 25, which are by TerraKosmos. And of course the new Argon template.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Replacing CAS faces on: 2007 September 03, 22:35:13
Zero chance of neighbourhood damage, since these templates are only ever used for Sim spawning. Existing Sims will not change*.

Known issues: incomplete sets may result in weird results if you change the age of a Sim while still in CAS. AFAIK no incomplete sets exist anymore, though.

What else: you can mix and match! As long as you keep only one of each template, you can use Modder A's version of templates 1, 2, 3; and Modder B's version of templates 4, 5, 6; etc..

*Caveat: if you have face blending on (the default), Sim toddlers may grow up into slightly different kid faces after changing template sets, as the game attempts to normalize faces to templates.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting rid of Veronaville and Strangetown? on: 2007 September 03, 18:16:21
Interesting tool. I'll give it a look.
There are a (very) few applications I still need to make Vista-compatible somehow, getting access to the raw installer data can help.
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Where did the Dormies go? (No Dormies on move in.) on: 2007 September 03, 18:13:55
Take out nodormieregen.package and try again.

Dorms can (only) be created with the generic zoning cheat changeLotZoning

Valid are:
residential
community
greek
dorm
secretsociety
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting Maxis Items. on: 2007 September 03, 14:57:38
Deleting? Don't even think about it. At best you'll corrupt your install, at worst you'll also lose your neighbourhoods.

Hiding? Hard to do. Other than clothing hiders, object hiders can cause problems.

Just overlook them if you don't want them.

Oh, and deleting CC certainly does DELETE. It physically removes the files from disk, not "hide" it.
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: sims will not age on: 2007 September 03, 11:31:41
Do not delete the ones in your install folder. Only delete the ones in Documents.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting rid of Veronaville and Strangetown? on: 2007 September 02, 15:29:04
Obviously.
Have you ever tried extracting the cab files that come with Installshield?
15  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons) on: 2007 September 02, 11:30:45
Three, if you want the induction to be possible. Any valid dormies will become SS members up to the lot visit limit (usually Cool.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting rid of Veronaville and Strangetown? on: 2007 September 02, 09:43:26
Yup. Most games that use the Installshield installer (99% of them?) hide the content in the cabinet format (.cab files), which I have found no reader for. So if you need a single file back, you're going to have to do a full reinstall.
With TS2 you just open compressed.zip and grab it.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Buying a Monitor Need feedback!!!! on: 2007 September 02, 09:41:17
ScoobyDoo: CAS! looks okay to me. Mind that I have my desktop also on 1680:1050 as it is the native resolution, and have configured my videocard to do the scaling (not that it applies here, but in general software scaling is better than hardware scaling [done by the monitor itself]).
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Buying a Monitor Need feedback!!!! on: 2007 September 01, 23:37:45
From the specs -- the LG one is a good monitor.

The file you want to edit is Graphics Rules.sgr. See this post.
19  Awesomeware / The Scrapyard / Re: Service NPC Generator Fix for Pets p0 *CRITICAL* on: 2007 September 01, 23:29:54
Ask JMP then.
I checked the code, and the code has not changed between Pets p0 and Seasons p3. So provided the game code caused the problem, the fix should still be needed. I'm too lazy to test it myself in greater detail Wink
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Buying a Monitor Need feedback!!!! on: 2007 September 01, 23:27:29
By default, the highest resolution of TS2 is 1600:1200

With a small text edit, this can be changed to any resolution. I play in 1680:1050 myself, my monitor's native res.

TS2 stretches easily to any res.
21  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons) on: 2007 September 01, 21:57:49
No, only as many will be generated as needed.
Thus if you have a maid as visitor on the lot, and the maid is needed, a second is spawned. With drivers -- suppose the schoolbus and carpool arrive at the same time: two drivers.

And yes you can use the mailbox/tree to pregenerate more as wanted.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Buying a Monitor Need feedback!!!! on: 2007 September 01, 21:04:43
I'd go for any widescreen LCD monitor. If you are planning on watching HDDVD/Blueray on your PC in the future, go for a HD monitor (not HD ready) with a native resolution of 1920:1080 (HD1080)

Otherwise, go for a 1600:900 (16:9) or 1680:1050 (16:10) monitor.

Make sure your monitor's response time is below 5ms (the lower, the better).

Brand shouldn't matter, but try to favour known brands over unknowns. Typically they use the same materials anyway, but "brand" monitors tend to have better testing and support.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Stop me from buying Seasons -- AGAIN on: 2007 September 01, 19:53:40
DRM is Digital Restrictions Management, not rights. It's about restriction your rights after all.
24  Awesomeware / The Scrapyard / Re: Service NPC Generator Fix for Pets p0 *CRITICAL* on: 2007 September 01, 18:55:58
As mentioned, the problem only exists if you have zero of a certain NPC. The only way to get to this point is by starting from scratch.
25  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Holiday Stuff Pack issues on: 2007 September 01, 16:07:56
I mean the official patch from www.thesims2.com/ -- check under support.

An uninstall should also work, but keep in mind this would mean reinstalling *everything*. I think you can't get rid of the base game without also removing all expansions.
