1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Randomizer? on: 2007 June 17, 18:48:53
I did chose the hair and clothes for them all, but before unlocking ShowBiz somewhere at the end, I only gave them ripped, dirty or trashy clothes, or stuff that looked like it was patched together from other stuff, and also only gave them hair that was unkempt, or cropped short. They also only got furniture (recolors or original meshes) that looked dirty, broken down, etc.

After unlocking, I slowly let them switch over to decent-looking hair/clothes.

I liked that a lot better than limiting myself to random Maxis stuff, since that just doesn't fit, visually, with the theme.

oh, you know what would be really cool?

Vampires and Werewolves automatically hating each other, and always attacking each other on sight, fighting either to the death or converting the loser to the species of the winner, until the battle for which species shall survive in the neighborhood has been settled one way or another.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: more family members mod? on: 2006 November 25, 19:38:43
ah, I have Squinge's mod, and ACR, so I guess I'll just have to try one of the 20-sims-lot and see what happens...

Thank you!

*goes to make backup first*
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / more family members mod? on: 2006 November 25, 09:55:36
I was using DocDoofus' LotFullOfSims mod before getting Pets. It doesn't seem to have been updated to be compatible, and Squinge only has a mod that lets you have up to 12 people. I have three lots that have 18-22 sims, and I'd kinda like to get back to playing them, so - is there a Pet compatible mod that ups the limit of sims allowed per lot?

Preferably one that allows births - otherwise I could just move people in with Inge's shrub. I don't care about the number of pets - I don't think I'll ever want to have many pets in a family.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Mod request (if possible): Woohoo via computer on: 2006 August 15, 06:30:21
I was hoping to figure out a way to actually put something on the computer screen, sort of like how you can watch animated files on your TV, and also add a censor on the screen and the sim itself. But it would require a lot more skill that I have, since the blur won't show up if you use a blur removal hack. And without the blur, it just looks like the sim is using the computer like normal, because there are no unique animations for it.

how about making them undress before using this interaction (like there is a mod that makes the sims remove their clothes before they use the toilet)?

I dun really think "Cyber-woohoo" qualifies as real woohoo. Get a sex droid instead.

nonono, a Sex Droid would be obvious to the other family members.  *g*

Have you tried asking at sexysims?

Not yet - I asked here first, but I'll eventually go and ask at other sites, as well. (I just trust this community most when it comes to creating something that plays well with the other mods I have)
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Mod request (if possible): Woohoo via computer on: 2006 August 14, 18:36:35
I've been thinking lately that some of my romance sims could *really* use this:

A computer that, in addition to a chat function (or maybe as a sub-function), also has the option to try and initiate cyber-woohoo with your chat partner. Maybe with somewhat lower relationship requirements (possible based on the casual woohoo ones).

I'd love to have some stay-at-home romance moms, or utter slacker romance sims, have a way to satisfy all their romance urges without having to constantly leave the house (and have the kids be left unattended). It would also be a good way for them to juggle lots of relationships without the jealousy problems that come with doing dates at community lots.

Any chance this is doable, and if so, any chance that someone would be interested in creating it?
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Critique My Story on: 2006 June 29, 16:24:38
Interesting concept, but I can't help wondering about the legalities of it, with it being a recent novel - copyright, in other words.

I wouldn't worry too much - consider the insane amounts of fanfiction that you can find online...

As long as there aren't extensive amounts quoted from the book, and the quotes that are there are properly attributed...
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting really sick of typing in the CD key... on: 2006 March 16, 16:23:00
Do a manual install. The instructions for that are somewhere on the EAGames Help Section.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I found a way to connect the three neighborhoods together. (Serious Thread) on: 2006 March 13, 16:51:12
I have tried many, many ways to combine the three maxis hood. This one as well.
But it does create quite some broken memories and duplicate characters.
Actually, I havenīt found a way to have all the maxis characters meet each other without
these issues.
If someone did, please tell.

I exported all Maxis sims I wanted with SimSurgery, took notes of the personality/zodiac/family ties/interests/etc. And then I recreated them in CAS, and stitched them back together with SimPE. Did the same to the sims I had currently been playing - the neighborhood was getting unstable, and I just recreated everything before installing NL.

Alternatively, it *should* be possibly to move Maxis sims into one neighborhood if you put *all* sims of that neighborhood on one lot (probably with Inge's Teleport Plus Shrub). By all, I mean all playable characters, and all characters they've ever met/have memories of. That would mean including at least some Townies/NPCs, and adding the resurrected dead. That way, you'd get no duplicate or abandoned memories.

Or, alteralternatively, you could only put the sims you want on a lot together, then go into SimPE and clean out their memories, and then only import the selected sims, but you'd have to be damn careful to make sure you *really* delete all references.

I get wanting to put Maxis sims together - after all, I added the interesting ones to my own custom neighborhood as well. I just don't think it makes sense to link all three neighborhoods in the way described in this thread - if you're gonna combine them, why keep the annoyance of having to switch between neighborhoods? The three different terrains aren't really *that* interesting.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB glitch (no UserInterface) on: 2006 March 08, 17:31:49
ah, thanks.

(I've always preferred this over InTeen. The only thing I find potentially interesting from InTeen would be the accidential miscarriage...
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "boolprop" Phobia on: 2006 March 08, 17:10:04
turning debug mode on won't do anything horrible if you know what you're doing. However, considering that quite a lot of people - especially at the BBS, but also many at the thesims2 LJ, for example, *don't* know what they're doing, it's better to tell them to turn it off. Hell, we're talking about people who can't find their screenshots.

(I often wish I didn't have to be nice to the people at thesims2...)
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: shaklin ?? on: 2006 March 08, 03:10:29
Isn't shaklin a guy?  Or was the person I heard refer to shaklin as "he" mistaken...   Undecided

I don't know shaklin at all, but since s/he appears to be German, I'd assume female: shaklin is just a phonetic spelling of Jaqueline, and a male with that name would be unusual.

(but hey, it's the internet, anything is possible)
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB glitch (no UserInterface) on: 2006 March 08, 03:05:08
Thanks for the head-up about TeenWoohoo. I'll take it out for now - my current generation is only at toddler/child stage, so I can play without it for awhile.

14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / OFB glitch (no UserInterface) on: 2006 March 05, 18:14:17
I'm having an OFB glitch that's somehow related to mods, I guess. I was trying to move a sim that I'd moved out from his family sometime ago into his own lot. The first 2 times I tried, the game stalled on the loading screen, as if I had a bad career in my downloads (which I don't - other lots load fine). So then I had the idea of turning on debug mode before moving him in, and voila, I got a error message from the Triplets & Quads mod. I've attached it.

When the error message came up, I hit 'reset' (er. I think). After that, the lot loaded, but there was no UserInterface at all. I could click on things on the lot, I could direct the sim to go/run somewhere, I could interact with the paperboy when he arrived, but I had no way to get the UI, and also, all keyboard commands didn't work. The only way to exit was the click on the Sims2 in the taskbar (I play in windowd mode), and select 'Exit' there, when I did that, I got the "do you want to save before exiting the game" message. I saved.

I did, however, manage to replicate the error, this time in another neighborhood, with a newly created CAS sim. Not only that, but I also got an error message when exiting CAS mode! After that, I couldn't do anything in the neighborhood - I couldn't reenter CAS, couldn't move anyone into a house, anything - no matter where I clicked, it was as if my mouse wasn't working (I think I attached the correct error log from that). I had to Ctrl+Alt+Delete out of that gaming session. After restarting, I moved the new sim into a lot, this time one with a house on it. Same problem as above: no UserInterface. I could click on the door and lock/unlock it, but the house had the roof up, so I couldn't even enter.

After removing all downloads, I could enter the lot with the new CAS sim, and had a UserInterface. I also could enter when putting just the hacks directory back in. I haven't tried it yet with all other Bodyshop/Objects downloads (but there aren't any hacks in there, I've scanned), and I haven't tried to reenter the first lot where it happened (I'm about to do so, but the game takes me over 20 mins to load with all custom content in). I also haven't tried to see if I keep having the error when I take out just the Triplets & Quads mod.

Is it possible for the T&Q mod to cause this, or is this some weird interaction with another mod?

When playing in debug mode, I also get another error: when I send a sim to do a Sales interaction, get an error pop-up about a problem with the Wants Controller, but when I hit reset, it goes away and gameplay continues normally. The error log does say something about 'InTeenimater - Social - Interaction - TEST', but I don't have the InTeen installed (never had it in this installation of the game). I've attached one of these error messages as well.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recategorising hair with SimPE on: 2006 February 26, 19:26:58
delete the .package, rename the .bak to .package. That's it.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another possible romancemod problem? on: 2005 December 29, 08:27:42
it's be fun if there was some way for the game to check - like "woohoo happening - are there any sims that don't live on the lot in the same room", and if yes, it counts as public...
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bad Kids? Bad People? on: 2005 December 28, 05:39:55
that's an interesting theory, especially since I noticed something last week in my game, and I've been meaning to post about it:

I restored my earliest backup (from Oct '04) because I'm retaking early snapshots - I only got a decent graphic card in Nov'04. So I'm using InSim and other cheats to simply set up the shots I want, and that includes de-aging adults to children and/or toddlers. I noticed that a sim that I de-aged from adult to toddler (and then re-grew into a child) was suddenly a better-looking toddler than before.

Here's comparison pictures (the only difference is that the new one is also using a default replacement skintone, and different hair/eyebrows) - note the distance between her nose and her mouth:

Granted, they're not the best pictures, but I think there *is* a definite difference.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just getting the word out. on: 2005 December 18, 19:35:11
Livejournal is great, but you can't upload the pics there.  You would have to get like, a photobucket account as well.

You can, if you have a paid accout.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of character files? on: 2005 December 18, 19:25:01
in the Character Browser, right-click on all these new Unknowns, and hit 'delete'. Then save the neighborhood package.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just getting the word out. on: 2005 December 17, 01:26:27
that was fun!

(consider posting a link to the thesims2 community?)
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing eye color, is this possible? on: 2005 November 24, 23:52:58
2. What I really want to do to try to get around this is to import new eye colors into the files of the old ugly ones, except that I can't figure out which files they are, because what the DNA tells you seems to have absolutely no connection to the filename. Is there any easy way to find out what the actual *file* is? I know I could work around this if I had enough patience, but well, I don't. Too many eyes, too many that look the same.

This is how I did it (possibly there's an easier way):

First, I filtered out all eyes with the Sims2Pack clean installer and put them in their own directory. Then I made a backup of it, just in case, and then started the game with only these eyes in. Went into CAS, and delete the eyes I knew I hadn't used on any sim. Exited.

Went into SimPE, and used SimSurgery to export every sim that uses custom eyes. Started the game with them and the custom eyes. Went into CAS, clicked on pre-made sims, looked at each one, and wrote down which of the custom eyes that were still in the game they were using. Then I deleted all the custom eyes that were not in use. Exited.

Once that's done, all the SavedSims you exported with SimSurgery can be deleted again, and you're left with a directory that contains only the custom eyes that are in use in-game.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just a sim "fear" pondering on: 2005 November 23, 16:47:43
I think most of the players do the mistake to divorce them, and marry him to Kaylynn, who is Aquarius, and they don't fit at all.

It's only a mistake if you only play happy couples.

Personally, I'm very happy I only have 1 3-bolts pair in the current generation of my neighborhood. I see 3bolts as that special kind of love that only few people manage.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Chemistry of Attraction... on: 2005 November 23, 08:27:02
Can anyone tell me, with the lighning bolt system, when you view who a sim has chemistry with, are the pictures in order of whom the sim has the most attraction? The reason I ask, is that if a sim had 3 bolts with several sims, is the sim listed first the one with the MOST chemistry, even though there are the same number of bolts with the others? I noticed that the order sometimes changes for no reason that I can see...

If you're talking about the relationship panel, then sims are listed ordered by Longterm Relationship level (with all sims who are on the lot always listed first). There aren't levels of chemistry within a number of lightning bolts - all three bolts have the exact same amount of chemistry.

If you want to make distinctions, you could check which sim your sim has the most interests in common.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The whole adopting children business. on: 2005 November 23, 00:32:09
I did accidently get Brittany Whatshername when I miscalculated the last one in...and she's turned out to be a delight.  Marcia, I don't think so.  If I got her by mistake, I'd shrub her right back where she started.  Wink

Marsha grows up surprisingly good-looking - out of all 5 townie kids, she's the only decent-looking one. At least, decent-looking enough for me that she won't be getting a SimSurgery make-over when she's a teen or adult (they're all still townie kids in my current neighborhood, but I'd grown them up in a previous one).
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom Careers? on: 2005 November 22, 22:49:10
Do the custom careers have custom outfits as well?

Not usually, tho the better ones edit the career so that you use already existing career outfits that fit the job.

Not to mention, the next time an expansion pack comes out it's not much fun to go around the hood and make everyone quit their jobs so that you can remove the custom career from your downloads folder.

Not necessarily. Uni was a problem because Uni changed how careers worked, but all careers that were ok for Uni work for NL as well. When the next expansion pack comes out, I'll just wait a day or two before I install it. By then, I'll know whether I'll have to remove the career folder or not.
