51  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: October on: 2008 October 08, 21:14:01
Thanks for the compliments, guys.  I think the steampunk version is the best of the best.  I've actually replaced the Curious house with it in the real game.  If we were doing winners, that one would have my vote.
52  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: October on: 2008 October 08, 07:40:29
I'm not entirely certain I want to submit this after Witch's comment, but here goes nothing.  In my game, apparently the Curious brothers got sick and tired of all those stairs, moved away, and sold to a commercial developer.  The developer kept all the primary walls for stability purposes, but hated the warehouse look.

I turned 2 Coverup Way into a very expensive, odd-shaped, apartment complex.  There are five apartments, a rental office, a small playground, a fenced pool (for the safety of sim-kids), a hot tub, a rooftop common area, decorated foyers, elevator and stairs access, and a green area with water features.  (I actually live in a complex with a "green area", so I thought I'd include it.)  All the original walls are intact, and the original platforms are incorporated into the new levels.  I was actually just trying to make a couple more levels incorporating the left-side platforms, and it got away from me.  I was about to redo, and my brain said, "Wait!  It's obviously APARTMENTS!"

The furnishings are quirky, and the apartments are SORT OF themed.  Apartment 3, for example, is obviously for your 70's hippy sims, as furnished.  All objects have been tested and the sims can use them, even if they appear to be in odd positions.  I had a lot of fun with this one.

Those actually sound interesting and useful.  I don't know if they'd be possible, but they're NEAT.
54  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Servo Glitch in AL on: 2008 October 06, 00:37:11
Removing your download folder after it broke wouldn't change anything, no.  That's why I asked.  But it doesn't look like anything you have could cause this.  I think it was an EA-designed bork, as I found two references to this on the BBS.  The recommended response was "Kill it off" for one, and "Quit without saving" for the other.  Both were references to activating a servo on an apartment lot.  I think perhaps some testing should be done on whether or not this is always a bad thing.  Perhaps someone more awesome than I am could assist you in in "fixing" the servo-sim.

I'm sorry I can't be more help, aisthesis.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I can haz 2 problemz?!? Awesome people, please help me! on: 2008 October 05, 23:23:04
Yes.
56  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Servo Glitch in AL on: 2008 October 05, 22:45:37
What Pescado meant by his comment is that you have hacks and content in your game that are unrelated to his work or the work of EA that may be messing with how your servos work.  Care to tell us what custom content you use?  That would help in determining where the problem is.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bandatron on unowned normal community lots on: 2008 October 05, 11:16:19
It has an "under construction" sign hung on it, and is non-functional.
58  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is it normal to have 996 char files in an unplayed hood? on: 2008 October 05, 00:07:48
Antiredundancy does not prevent the spawning of necessary NPCs.  If you marry the only maid, the game will spawn a new one as required.  It prevents the spawning of EXTRA NPCs.  As in:  You have a maid.  Therefore, the game will USE that maid, not make a NEW one.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2008 October 04, 04:43:24
PACE Anti Piracy is a security program bundled with some new PCs.  Could it have come with your computer when you purchased it?  I don't know about the Brain Drain.  As for .7z files: there is a program called 7zip that you need to "unzip" these file types.  7zip is an excellent program.  You can get it here.
60  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is it normal to have 996 char files in an unplayed hood? on: 2008 October 04, 01:09:01
I think Antiredundancy combined with Notownieregen work to prevent any UNNECESSARY townies from spawning.  I don't know if they make sure that already-made townies are summoned to populate your apartments, though.
61  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is it normal to have 996 char files in an unplayed hood? on: 2008 October 04, 00:55:52
Sadly, Yes.  I did not have the cleaned up templates installed and added three universities, Bluewater Village, the three vacation destinations, and Downtown, and have all the EPs and SPs installed, and ended up with 994 characters prior to playing with anyone in Belladonna Cove.  I am curious about where your extra two characters are, and who they are.  But that number is well within the realm of normal.
62  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: The One Shiny: Autonomy Control on: 2008 October 04, 00:48:36
Perhaps I am mistaken, but I thought the way to proscribe something with the One Shiny was to click on the sim doing the autonomous annoyance with the sim doing the autonomous annoyance, select autonomous, and select proscribe.  Selecting another, non-autonomous-annoyance-using sim would be non-productive.  Perhaps you should try that?
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Making sims unique on: 2008 September 29, 03:47:16
Sorry, Pes.  I got that information from Awesomespec, not from you.  My error.
64  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Backing up Game Data Files on: 2008 September 26, 14:38:42
Back up the Sims2 folder in your My Documents, and also any "special" hacks or patches that went in the program files area.  Make sure you have the software to reinstall the CEP, if you use it, because it also puts things in program files/Ea games/the sims 2.

Basically, anything you've changed from vanilla Sims2.
65  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims2 + no internet connection = (*^&@#*(#@&#%_^%(&*@#$&*(!!! on: 2008 September 26, 00:49:07
What version of Sims2 is this?  Is it the direct download version?  Do you have any EP's/SPs (other than the self-uninstalling AL)?  Are they Patched?  When you start the computer and click on the icon, what happens?  What does the error message say?  Is this a Vista Machine?  A Mac?  Windows98?  Dos 3.0?  Is the hard drive functional with EVERYTHING ELSE, except for the Sims2?

I'd try to help, but I'd need much more information.  I'm not trying to be cruel, I just want to let you know that without further information, the only thing you're likely to get is laughed at.  If you can acquire that additional information, perhaps one of the awesome might be able to help.  It does sound frustrating.
66  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Oops, did I break it? on: 2008 September 25, 07:52:25
If you use clean templates, there are no sims in the simbin.
67  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Oops, did I break it? on: 2008 September 25, 01:17:18
Something about the lot bin being bad for occupied houses.  I can't remember, honestly.  I was advised to Never Ever put an occupied lot in the lot bin, and Never Ever take an occupied lot OUT of the lot bin.  It supposedly breaks the lot in some unknown-to-me way leading to strange-lined memories and general borkedness.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Making sims unique on: 2008 September 25, 01:14:32
Food processors are actually less effective than counters that cost more than $500.  The Old Fart recommends expensive counters and no processor.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Making sims unique on: 2008 September 25, 01:04:37
Cooking skill points or "higher quality" food and better counters may make the difference.  Just because they ate doesn't mean they necessarily got FULL.
70  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Oops, did I break it? on: 2008 September 25, 01:01:09
If you are severely concerned with your sims and what's broken, there's an easy fix.  If you run on a windows system, then just delete the sims2 folder in your "my documents" folder.  This will force the game to recreate all the contents from scratch, resetting all your neighborhoods to their original pristine state, and removing any and all extraneous sims and houses.  This will also permanently remove any custom neighborhoods you may have made.  It will undo any changes you've done to your neighborhoods.

In the future, when downloading houses, occupied or not, I would suggest you use CleanInstaller to install them.  CleanInstaller gives you the opportunity to select only the lot itself, without sims, custom content, or hacks/mods.

A few tips:  Never delete sims from the simbin.  Do not use the petsEP expansion *occupied* houses that came with the game.  Don't play with cheat codes unless you know what they do.  This includes all the "boolprop" and "Intprop" things available.  This site is a gold mine of information on how the game works and what not to do and what to do.
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Oops, did I break it? on: 2008 September 24, 21:02:11
Knowing what hacks, mods, CC, and patches you use might be helpful.  Knowing which EPs and SPs you have installed and whether or not you've been playing in SimPE would also help.  Also, knowing the condition of the house prior to sending Angela to college would help.  One of the reasons for your sporkage is probably your delivery.  You stated what was weird, but with no real information on before, after, and what extras you have that may affect the situation.  (I'm leaving your appearance and name choice completely out of it.  They are just the vehicle used to spork you for the lack of information.)  Perhaps you could share the additional information, and we might be able to figure out A) what happened, and B) how to fix it.

Off the top of my head, if you are familiar with SimPE it is possible to alter Lilith's gender by modifying the character file and the neighborhood file.

All of those bonuses stack.  (I actually did that, but I included the Far East collection thing.)

Sims who are supposed to use only their own apartment will invade other apartments.  You'll find your Sim-Teen sleeping in someone else's apartment.
