Well first, can you start the game with no Mods or CC?  If yes, then it is a You fail not a Sims Patch fail.

Make sure your framework is in the right place.  Don't forget the d3dx9_31.dll needs to be moved.

I installed HEL, patched, moved my framework, updated Awesome Mod, and I can play just fine.  All of my DLs are there and if I really wanted to, I could install with the launcher.  So you must be doing something wrong somewhere.  Start by looking at your framework and mods.  And get the latest Awesome Mod.

Lots of people already talked about this in previous posts as well.  Scroll down and READ!
52  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Trouble with Stairs on: 2010 January 26, 05:26:30
I did the stairs the same way in a house and copied that house into the neighborhood 3 times.  With 2 houses the people go up the stairs then turn around and go right back down, but the 3rd house they go up and down just fine.  I have no idea why.  I'm sorry to not be of any help.

I killed one set of stairs on each level so they are staggered to fix it.  I tried everything to to see if it was a building mistake or item placement, and couldn't find any reason.  I also had one house work fine one day and then I went to play again and the stairs were broken.

For some strange reason my Sims can't get pregnant.  I've chosen the option 'try for baby' numerous times; in the coffins, the camps beds, the house bed, the tents, there place of employment. The wife now has extra fertile and still, no success.

They normally always get pregnant when I chose 'Try for Baby'.  I didn't think much of it for the first few times after the most recent WA patches. But now... I think there is something wrong.

I un-installed and re-installed prior to WA. I have less than 50 mods in the Mod folder. I don't have anything besides the few stores items I got for registering, since the patches removed the other 'acquired' items.

I've used the 'search' bar and Google in hopes of finding other players who've experienced this recently, but I couldn't. Should I just keep playing and install that Reproduction Hack item I spotted on this forum? Or unistall/reinstall

Thank you for your time.

If you use AwesomeMod try the cheat falconpunch NameofYourSim  and see if that clears a borked pregnancy.  My Sims are getting pregnant since the patch/WA/update.  Maybe she is pregnant but it is stuck or something. What this will do is cancel her pregnancy so you can start a new one.
54  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 17, 22:12:51
I was following this tutorial and as easy as it was to change the cfg to a txt... it wouldn't revert back to a cfg.  It would remain a txt file despite the cfg exetnsion seeing as how I could not access the txt ending.  Is there some other way I can open it to alter this?  I tried to play around in properties, but no luck so far.

Hmm...when you save, close the notepad and you should be looking at the file on your desktop.  Right click it and "rename" and change the .txt to .cfg It should work.  If it is not, then maybe it is a permission problem?

If it will still not rename, delete the copies on your desktop and start all over by copying a new resource file and try again (You made back ups right!?).  I don't know what to say to help any more than that.

Oh I have file extensions unhidden too, so make sure you do that.

You can not edit the file while it is in your Sims 3 directory, since permission to change those files while they are in those directories can be screwy.  Make sure it is on your desktop or some other folder.

And I am also having a bitch of a time with my Launcher.  I have been trying to delete a file and it just keeps paging through all of my CC and then pages back up...never stops.  I have to close it with the task manager.
55  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 17, 18:28:58
My Riverview shows up.  However I have all retail bought Sims 3 and WA expansion.  I had DLed Riverview through the Sims 3 website and had installed it through the launcher.  I have no idea what you should do if you have Arred copies or DLed Riverview elsewhere.

You might need to delete Riverview from the launcher, reinstall it and recopy the DCCache files.  Maybe something got lost along the way.

Don't forget if you install anything with the launcher after coping your DCCache files over, that you will need to copy those files again and replace them in the Mods folder every time you fiddle with files in the launcher.

You can copy what I typed in my above post and paste it right over top of whatever was in your Resource.cfg file.  All I did was added the *dcb paths.  If you changed your file to add more folders then you should already know what to copy and what to leave in your original file.
56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 17, 14:49:38
I am not a hacker or modder but I got my CC to work.  What I did was I copied my resource.cfg files to my desktop.  I had 2, I have always had 2 and I have no idea why or how, but my CC has been working so why change what ain't broke?

BACK UP!! your DCCache, your Mods folder, saves, and resource.cfg files.
Copy your resource.cfg file/s to your desk top.
To edit your resource.cfg you have to change .cfg to .txt and say okay when the computer yells at you.
Just copy and paste this into your resource.txt

Priority 500
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*/*.dbc

Click save and then rename the file back to resource.cfg.  Place it back in your Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/ World Adventure folder.

I have another resource.cfg file in my Mods folder/Files. I made it look like this:

Priority 500
DirectoryFiles  Mods/Files/... autoupdate
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.dbc

I have no idea if I need it, so skip this if you do not have one there.

Then I copied my files in my DCCache folder into the Misc folder under Mods.  I have no idea if I need to delete the DCCache, I didn't and things were working well.

I will update this if people tell me it is wrong, but my game is working, my CC is showing up, I do not lag horribly and my load times are about the same as before.
57  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 17, 03:20:36
I did the same thing as you but I DLed the New Years Eve hat.  My game started to freeze up and hang...so I minimized the game and the launcher was asking me to sign in.  I signed in and I had 3 copies of the stupid hat in my DL bin.  I know I only clicked it once.  I will not be using that feature.

I did what was said above about the *dbc files and all of my previously missing launcher DLs are now there.  I then Dled a sims3pack and installed it with the launcher and then copied the new dbc file over and the new items were there.  So that looks like a good fix for now.

I also have the new file and my Sims 3 account email .bin too.  I guess it is some cookie type thing.

I don't even know where to begin with the CAW.  It's like possibilities over load for me.  Can't wait to see what people make however.

Oh so EA broke TSR? hehehe

My game was being a twit anyway so I am patching and trying the CAW now.  <crosses fingers>
59  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What could've caused this? on: 2009 December 10, 22:23:00
Star, the bad thing about the patch and World Adventures is a lot of the mods and CC are not compatible and need to removed.  Any of your favorite Mods/Hacks/Tuning files will need to be tracked down and you will need to look to see if they were updated.

You will have to do some "spring" cleaning before you can play again without errors and weirdness.  Then you can play with the fun bugs that came with the patch!
60  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 December 10, 14:53:54
If your vacation lots are Blue Lotting there are some questions to answer.
1. Did you buy a vacation home and decorate it?
2. Did you edit any lots on vacation?

The best way to test is to take ALL of your packaged CC (the ones you install in the Mods folder) out. Create a whole new town and play the same way you were.  Edit things, change their hair, move people around, go on vacation.  Save and reload.  If no Blue lots appear then it is a piece of CC you have.

Not all CC has been listed everywhere that is bad.  You have to personally go through YOUR CC and find the culprits.  A helpful tip also is to look at the dates the files were created.  Anything before August, Sept, and Oct check first.

To check your CC you need to actually stick the CC on a lot and save.  Reload the hood and check.  Don't forget Windows and fireplaces.

And ALWAYS back up your saved games before playing with new CC.
61  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Update Coming & The Sims 3 Create a World Tool (A.K.A Trouble Alert?) on: 2009 December 10, 14:42:30
I'm excited for Create A World.  I have no need for the Shop tool.  Hopefully it can be squished.

I wonder if Create A World includes any type of townie/sim/npc editor for your new town you create, or if it will suck in the old templates.  I find all of my NPCs have the same face structure.  I would love variety so I can marry them, but right now...meh.  I let the Super Computer eat them.
62  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What could've caused this? on: 2009 December 10, 04:39:57
Actually it looks like it was one of the patches that changed some code in some objects.  So if you patched your game it changed the way the game read some code in some CC.  They found the reason and a fix, but it can't fix an already corrupt neighborhood.
63  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What could've caused this? on: 2009 December 10, 04:00:14
If your graphics are turned down a bit your "Blue Lotted" neighborhood looks black.

If that is not your problem, then I am not sure what it is.
64  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Variable Crashes on: 2009 December 08, 15:01:21
Running "slow" has two possible causes:
1. Everything in your computer has been forced into swapspace by TS3's RAM-eating, and as a result, the computer disk-thrashes.
2. Your computer is overheating, and modern computers will downclock themselves in response to heat buildup to avoid a fire, and thus will run slowly.

Based on the claim that restarting instantly fixes it, case 1 seems more likely, meaning your crashes are caused by TS3's memory leaks eating all your RAMs, finally running out, and crashing.

I have been monitoring my Ram while playing and I absolutely agree that this is what is happening. When I CTD my Ram is down in the double digits (45 - 90)!  I think this is always why I get error 16s.  I think it is almost out of Ram and hasn't CTD so I save and it barfs.  I have 4 GB of Ram.

I watch my heat and that is in okay levels.  It does get hotter when playing the Sims, but not out of the range that is acceptable. I also use the FPS limiter.  I recommend watching your Ram, save often, and reboot often.

I guess I know what Santa is getting me for Christmas heh.
65  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Entire savegame gone after awesomemod install on: 2009 December 06, 16:03:09
I don't really care about the awesome mod anymore, but is there any way to recover my game?

A lesson to anyone.  Before installing ANYTHING make a current back up at that very moment of all your precious things, sims in the library, your hoods, your houses.  A lot of times once your save is fucked, it's fucked forever.

I could blow my neighborhood up 100 million times, but I don't care!  You know why?  I BACK UP MY FILES!  Grin
66  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 December 05, 07:37:49
Okay thanks.  I have been really struggling with this stupid game since getting WA.  I get a lot of Error 16s and a shit load of corrupt sims and lots.  I have been pouring through forums and deleting CC, and still get errors.

According to EA (yeah, I know  Roll Eyes ) they say you should never get an Error 16 after you patch your game and start from a fresh hood and save as.  I have done all of that and still can't get very far before the whole town implodes.  So just wondered how the Auto save feature worked.  Looks like more CC removing and testing.

67  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 December 05, 07:07:04
Does anyone know or if Pes reads this...when Auto save is enabled, does it save or save as the next time around?  I am finding I am getting Error 16 when my game is set to auto save (several saves into the play session).  I just started a new neighborhood and my computer had just been rebooted so my ram was good to go.  I am trying to figure out what causes the Error 16, and I always Save As, and wondered what auto save did.

Just a FYI lemoncandy over at MTS fixed her plants.  So go redownload them!!
69  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 December 03, 23:01:37
So then, has it been confirmed that the blue lots only appear after going to one of the vacation towns? If that's the case I think I can manage staying home until someone compiles a thorough list of the bad cc to be removed.

Having the CC on a lot somewhere in the neighborhood causes the corrupt lots.  Even in a house you built 3 months ago and just took it out of your library and plopped it in your neighborhood.  The act of saving causes the glitch to appear.  So going or not going on vacation does not matter.  If you have bad CC on a lot and save, it kills your town forever.

Here is the link to a list of known bad CC. http://www.customsims3.com/forum1/YaBB.pl?num=1258836562 Since things get buried and no one reads the whole thread.
70  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2009 December 03, 19:42:47
I got an error 12 yesterday and was able to save around it.  However as I continued to play it was very apparent my town blew up.  I don't recommend trying to save around the error.  The way the game saves vacations and things = major problems.

I also totally notice that I have 2 things in common when the error occurs.

1. My sim broke up with someone
2. My ram is all used up.

Sometimes it's just one or the other.  I'm not going to allow an break ups for a while and I will be watching my ram and rebooting accordingly to see if that helps at all.
71  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 December 03, 19:34:04
Inge - items made and used before WA were giving blue/cut out lots.  For instance some of the plants were dated August.  I do not know if any newly created items cause blue lots.  Some items might have been in the working stage and just released after WA.

barbara_walters - As far as I know, once your neighborhood has blue/cut out lots it can never be recovered.  Always BACK UP and use a throw away town to test CC.
72  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bugs in WA on: 2009 December 03, 15:13:12
I am beginning to have huge problems taking my Sims on vacation.  My only hacks are Awesome and Twallan's Super Computer.  I have a family of 5, 2 adults, 2 teens and 1 child.  They went to China everything was great.  When they came home all of the cooking books had disappeared from the inventory.

I kept playing the family and decided to send them to China again.  This time it was just the 2 Adult parents and 1 teen (who was the child at first)  Everything was fine in China until I noticed their vacation time did not count down.  It remained 0/5 the whole time until I decided to make them leave.  When they got home the teen was totally gone from the household, the father's icon just green and I could not control him.  The mother acted like she had never left and the household money was how it was when I left.  I noticed through using the Super Computer and Awesome mod that I had the REAL family as homeless townies.  Their money was also what they had made in China.

Looking at the mother's family tree I saw that all of her children were aged down to child and 2 teens.  And the child was darkened like she was a foreigner from China in the relationship panel.  However the real teen (who went to China) showed as currently out of town on the Super Computer.

I tried summoning the real family and they never came.  I tried resetting them, resetting the world...nothing worked.

So I went back to an older save and just sent the Father to China.  While he was there his vacation timer never expired and in the relationship panel his children were aged down.  When he returned home, everyone was like they should be.  No duplicates.

What a mess.  I do not fiddle with odd cheats or anything like that.  I have no idea how they got so borked.
73  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 December 03, 14:59:44
Just wanted to add another step to finding blue/cut out lots, click Map View too.  Your lot that you are viewing may actually be fine, misleading you to believe the CC is okay, only to have you hit map view and see the corrupted lots in the rest of the neighborhood.

I forgot this step and believed the CC was okay and began to play..only to notice later when I hit Map View that the world had imploded!

Blanton Tiger Lillies from TSR by sim_man123 = GOOD

Sorry I miss listed I meant to say Stylist_Sims_Livingroom_01_palm.package = bad also the chimneys from above.  It was early morning and no coffee...sorry!  Shocked

75  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 November 21, 23:25:22
I haven't finished testing everything but so far I have not had any blue lots or random CTDs since my previous post.  After I stuck in a large chunk of furniture my game got jerky when spinning the camera.  I got to sort that out.  I guess I really don't need all of these sofa sets!

It'll get worked out and I hope a smart Modder will figure out what is the cause of the object problem.
