51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / No autonomous gestures - PLEASE! on: 2007 September 29, 23:02:14
Can somebody, anybody, PLEASE make a hack for this that works!
I've only played Three Lakes and I can't take the way the chest pound is spreading through the
main hood.  Angry
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods? on: 2007 September 25, 00:49:48
What about these...

Motoki ?
Buyable Work and NPC Clothes
Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E
Ya_to_A_YA_Clothing_Maxis

Update: One or more of these are causing my game to crash. Every time I scrolled the clothes in buy mode the game would come to slow crawl and then crash to the desktop; the last time it even caused some weird graphic effects all over the screen. I took out all of the clothes/meshes I downloaded since BV but I was still getting the problem. Then I took Motoki's mods out and all was well. I put back in my BV downloaded clothes and all was well. My guess is since the game would crash once I reached a certain part in the clothes catalog that possibly the Buyable Work and NPC Clothes is the culprit in particular.
53  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 21, 02:49:47
Using Argon's clean/empty custom hood, is it suppose to create a neighborhood, N001, called Driftwood in place of "Pleasantville"?

Thanks jsalemi, I was looking at that earlier. *bookmarked*

Okay, you guys ready to shout for joy with me...

After 3 friggen days, it turns out my driver wasn't the issue at all. I restored my old driver and uninstalled every EP.
Of course while uninstalling a saw a Lighting file that was renamed Lighting-maxis...hmm... was this the darn culprit??? Angry
Anyway, deleted that, reinstalled each EP, checking the neighborhood view after each load. All is good now. *insert faint emoticon*

Thanks everyone for all the help and ideas. Now I'm an expert on driver installation and learned what anti-aliasing is. Roll Eyes

Now, I can get in line with the rest of the BV "why the heck did EA screw it up again" parade. Tongue

57  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighborhood flashing red on: 2007 September 17, 22:04:06
Okay thanks.
I'm trying one last thing... can I have the ATI control panel (from a previous driver version) installed together with an updated driver? I like the old panel better than the ATI Control Center.
58  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighborhood flashing red on: 2007 September 17, 21:25:29
Yes I do have both 1.1 and 2.0.

I noticed that when I uininstall a driver update that didn't work and restart Windows a small icon pops up in the system tray saying, new hardware found, and then my original drivers are restored. Could this be the cause of driver updates not working properly if so how do I stop Windows from reinstating the old drivers (after new ones have been uninstalled)?
Or is this something that is normal because there has to be some sort of drivers in place for the computer to run?
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to delete item from Windows-shortcut menu, etc. on: 2007 September 17, 21:16:39
Okay. Reinstalling and uninstalling Catalyst did the trick. Thanks.
Even Windows Install Clean up did not remove it. I don't like ATI Catalyst.  Undecided
One problem down, one more to go.
60  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighborhood flashing red on: 2007 September 17, 20:49:03
I got the correct driver for my OS at the ATI site, Catalyst 7.9 Media Edition 2005. I have Microsoft-Net Framework 2.0.
I tried installing Catalyst in Safe Mode but I got an error message stating the installer couldn't find the right drivers for my system. I got out of Safe Mode and tried installing it again and it went through (I did disable my virus software). This is all the same that I did before but neighborhoods are still flashing. I'm trying EVERYTHING but nothing is working.
61  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighborhood flashing red on: 2007 September 17, 19:05:15
I have Windows XP/Media Center Edition 2005.

Why do I have to install the drivers in safe mode?
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to delete item from Windows-shortcut menu, etc. on: 2007 September 17, 12:23:06
What piece of software put the option there in the first place?  There is probably a stray registry key causing the choice to remain in your menu, but without more information I can't really tell you how to go about deleting it.

ATI Catalyst Control Center. When I was trying to update my driver I installed it, but then I uninstalled and the link stayed on the shortcut menu.

Computer specifications?  Also, what custom content are you using?

I'm not using any hacks, etc. I took everything out. (see post in Oops You Broke It - thanks)
63  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighborhood flashing red on: 2007 September 17, 04:48:53
I don't have the control center installed. I did install several versions of it to see if any of the driver updates would fix the problem I was having but none of them did. I uninstalled the CC but now I can't remove the link from the shortcut menu (another topic).

I do remember having an ATI driver panel thingy somewhere but maybe it got uninstalled some time ago.
I don't want to install the CC just to get the options, so I'm trying to install driver updates from the dell website instead of the ATI site. The problem is the updates on the dell site are 1. old and 2. keeps knocking out my secondary 256 hypermemory monitor adaptor. I don't use/need this but still.

Arrgghhh...why me!  Cry

------------------

Update: I installed a driver update that gave me the ATI control panel, it is not the latest update but it is later than the one I had previously (which Seasons had no problem with might I add). I made sure Anti-Aliasing was set to "application preference"; I even deleted the userProps file from the Sims2/config folder. Neighborhoods are all still flashing red. When I load a lot there isn't a problem, it only happens from the neighborhood view.

What do I do now? Do I keep uninstalling/reinstalling drivers till I get a winner? (Is it really necc. to uninstall the previous driver before installing an update?)
or
should I just toss BV in the trash and forget I ever knew the Sims.  Huh
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How to delete item from Windows-shortcut menu, etc. (fixed) on: 2007 September 17, 04:11:37
When I right click on my desktop, in the shortcut menu where it has "arrange icons by"; "refresh"; "properties", etc. I have a "dead" link, meaning I uninstalled the software but the shortcut is still in the menu. How do I remove it?

thanks

Also - can anyone help me on why my neighborhood is flashing red after installing BV. I have tried updating drivers, adjusting settings and nothing is working.  Cry
65  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighborhood flashing red on: 2007 September 17, 04:06:20
The slider in game was already set to "low" for smooth edges. I tried playing around with all the in game settings and still nothing.
I don't know how to change the graphic card settings. In the Display Properties-Settings-Advance tab the only options I have are General, Adapter, Monitor, Troubleshoot and ColorManagement. None of them allow me to change the card settings so how do I do this? I have an ATI Radeon X600 card.
66  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighborhood flashing red on: 2007 September 16, 18:44:04
Yes. I tried switching the resolution size, sim details, etc. but the neighborhood still flashes red. I went into an unoccupied lot and nothing seems out of the ordinary there.
67  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighborhood flashing red on: 2007 September 16, 16:07:26
I tried installing previous driver updates and still nothing works. Surely someone can help, right?  Huh
68  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Neighborhood flashing red (solved) on: 2007 September 16, 04:12:25
I just installed BV and all hoods, original and custom are flashing red at the neighborhood screen. This is the 1st time I've had a problem with installing a new EP. So I need help.

I took out all downloads (hacks, etc.) before installing/loading.
I updated my graphics card, Radeon X600, but that didn't fix the problem. I did notice that when I installed the new driver, the update says "X300, X550, X1050" instead of X600 like it did before. On the ATI website all the driver updates for X600, X300, X550, X1050 are the same, I don't know if that makes any difference or not.

I haven't even tried to play yet as I want to clear up this problem before others start showing up. Thanks.
69  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Plantsim performing normal functions on: 2007 August 02, 17:00:07
The sims seems to have stopped trying to do "normal" functions at the moment. If she starts acting up again, I will try the above suggestions. Thank you.
70  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Plantsim performing normal functions on: 2007 July 28, 22:16:12
I haven't downloaded anything recently. I do have a hack where you can turn a sim into a plantsim by drinking a potion. I used it to make the sim in question a plantsim. However, I didn't think it was the problem because this sim has been fine and has only been acting normal recently. No one else has reported a problem with this hack on MTS2. Thanks anyway.
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Plantsim performing normal functions on: 2007 July 27, 21:48:56
I have a plantsim that is all of a sudden getting hungry, tired, going to the bathroom, etc. Is this normal?
The only needs that show are sunlight, water and love.
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: TWOJEFFS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING - Go here for the Triplets & Quads hack on: 2007 July 25, 01:32:36
Well, I almost had a fit! Thank goodness it is just a move.
So sad that the two best modders out there won't be under the same roof any more.  Cry

I will be signing up wherever you go, even if I have to kill a kitten.

(just kidding, I wouldn't go that far  Grin)
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Playing with fridge on: 2007 July 23, 01:06:39
I love it when cats do the "watch" thing. I have a cat on one lot that does this all the time. She will even "sing" along when someone is playing the piano.
I also like to see toddlers rock out to the stereo.
74  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game hung - need help understanding error log on: 2007 July 16, 17:23:25
I don't have any servos or maids. The hungernator sets customers hunger level for a business, however, I did not have this set-up on this particular lot.
I've had all of these in game for a while and never had any problem. However, I'll try taking those mods out anyway.
