I'll bet they still haven't fixed the broken, crappy lighting.
By that, do you mean the error where a light only illuminates the floor it is on but not the floor above it even though the ceiling is open? Yup, along with lot edges, wall edges and the occasional "newly-placed lights don't actually give off light" glitch. Also, it seems like they will never fix the excavation bug. AM to the rescue!
Doesn't surprise me. I wonder what this patch actually breaks this time?

This forum is just a big joke with dishonest wankers. I really hate to use the "jewcard", but you give me no choice. It's fun to see how you left out that I in fact was called a "filthy jew", after i told #grah I was jewish, (of jewish heritage), hence my question "a filthy jew?" after a guy exactly called me a "filthy jew".You should really take a look at the REAL log.
It's well-known that chat logs posted as "evidence" are usually doctored in some way in the interests of moar fight, and I would've dismissed it outright had I not read your blog (originally linked to from your own Wikka page before it was deleted) at the time as well. . If you had not said that you were Jewish, I would have took your anti-US and anti-Israel rants in your blog and outbursts of "Jihad!" and "Jewhad!" as typical examples of far-left anti-Semitism dressed up as anti-Zionism and anti-Westernism. Here's a hint - I'm also Jewish and if I'm finding your ramblings on your own blog to be borderline anti-Semitic, then you're doing it wrong. It's good to know that Shiv Gorilla still has the power to make tards flee even after all this time.
If she fled, then why am I getting punished in the Chambers?

Two questions:
1) Is there a mod out there that actually makes the fire pits autonomous? I know there's plenty of old ones that prevented sims from autonomously putting the things away, but I've never actually seen any sims actually using these fire pits unless I direct my own to.
2) Is there also a way to bypass the hard-limit of 8 high detail lots in the options screen? I've tried fiddling around with the different ini files but all these do is crash the game. It's annoying that this game used to handle 12 lots with ease (much in the same way as it used to handle lot boundary-crossing lightsources before EA fucked that up) but now we're left with 8. It's all the more annoying that I know my PC can handle more high detail lots than this, but EA seems to think otherwise.

Although I'm not sure: do game-generated sims ever get body hair applied? The answer to that is no. Just like muscle tones, freckles, tattoos and breast size, the game completely ignores these things when generating random sims. Instead, we get 90-odd sims (using AM's spawnmoreoverlords on a newly-cleansed 'hood) with exactly the same faces, hideous eyebrows and a wardrobe malfunction that would make the most dedicated fashionista drink him/herself to an early grave.

...a litter of ageless babies all over the floor.
More crotch-fruit fodder for the BBQ! ...that's in TS2. Although it would be great if it were in TS3, too. I have often thought of making a Gnome launcher, perhaps it should include infants as well. They are close to the same physical size after all. (now all I need is a clue as to where to begin) THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN

Am I the ONLY one who finds Windows easy to use, intuitive, and reliable; who has never had a major problem with it; and who has almost never wanted to bash his PC to smithereens?
Only since XP in my case. Windoze 95 and 98 were steaming piles of shit, and Vista's a bloody nightmare. Windows 7's ok once you have God Mode enabled, but SP1 is shit and buggers up internet access. I miss the old days of my Amiga and Workbench 1.3.

This is a standard problem on Macs. So far I have found no work around, you just have to put up with it.
Or, you know, pay less for a better computer that will actually run games. Pah! You don't even need to do that. Just replace MacOS with Windoze XP and you'll get a 200% performance boost* right there. *Not a guarantee. Figure may be speculative and/or plucked out of thin air. Still, it's a Mac. What did you expect?

I searched the thread for keyword: Crib, but feel my question still needs to be asked...
Do I really need to put cribs in houses in order for Sims to have kids? Honestly, that seems a bit ...stupid.
Why? Do you leave all your newborns lying around on the floor or something?

If that's all you have to do, well then, more power to you. I was just trying to help and it didn't click that I was "double posting" since I was responding to more than one person. Not to worry, I *expected* some cranky young fart to make a complaint about my post(s) no matter what I said or didn't say! Oh, look. We have our very own special snowflake here. Or just don't tell it here at MATY, where the unquestionable motto is "TSM is awful". I agree with you, InPinkClover - it's a great, funny, addictive variant of the Sims, with great gameplay improvements. But discussing this is heresy, here, we both risk the Pit.
And another one. This must be a BBS love-in or something, complete with flowers, sparklies and glomping. And would you look at that? I managed to respond to two totally different people without making two separate posts. The fact is, if you want to act like some prissy, spoilt brat, then do us all a favour and piss off back to the official forums where you can be all cute and sparkly-covered as much as you like, where everyone is nice and is drunk on that Kool-Aid shit. Here at MATY, we have rules - rules you two decided were beneath you (or more likely, you hadn't bothered to read). Either get with the program or piss off. We don't do nice here.

I am pondering a "force fidelity" mode that will not allow this kind of shenanigans and thus force the processing of everything regardless of what effect it has on load, just to see what happens.
Did this ever get implemented?

Remember, the lovely, wonderful, helpful, incredibly intelligent AND good looking people in this forum (did I suck up enough?) are not exactly FANS of Sims in ANY game. The lovely, wonderful, helpful, incredibly intelligent AND good looking people in this forum are going to tear you a new one for double-posting.

and stuck it in stores like it was a brand-new SP.
This still mystifies me. I have friends who rushed out to get it and I tried explaining to them how stupid and crazy it is but they wouldn't listen to reason. MUST BUY EVERYTHING EA PUTS ON CD. Although apparently, according to Jud over at Simprograms, there wasn't a CD. Just a plastic case and a redeemable code.

I would like to see such an option too. In Twallan's Master Controller, there's an option to open up all lots, with the side effect of this being the game literally running all households in high detail mode. I've never noticed any lagging on my i3-equipped PC, so on an i5 or i7 it should be smooth as anything.
I seem to recall there was an AM command for displaying AI latency, though I've long forgotten what that was (and for some reason, search as come up blank).

Promo videos tend to be too lo-res to really make out any detail anyway, and those promotional screenshots - the same ones that show perfectly functioning lighting that doesn't exist in the game, are almost always photoshopped to hell. Ignore them.
There is one way to get your sims (and backgrounds for that matter) to look better, and that's to override the game's internal anisotropic filtering settings. If your card's suitably fast enough (8800 or higher for nVidia and whatever the equivalent is for ATI), go into your card's control panel and change the anisotropic filtering setting for The Sims 3 from "application controlled" to "16x" (the nVidia control panel lists games via their *.exe rather than by name, so change your settings for the latest one). You might want to override the game's AA setting too. I normally have mine set to 16x, though this is on a GTS 250. Your mileage may vary.
