Thanks veilchen Grin  I have chapters 1 and 3 updated and ready for loading to the exchange.  Let me know when you are all done with the older version and I'll overwrite it.

No problem, I'll have to update the tutorial anyway otherwise the BBS users will be sending me more gb messages.  Let me know if you are going to be using the older version of SimPe Momthing and I'll hold off updating the tutorial.  As it stands I have photos ready for chapter 1 which I'll reference here for you.  I've been using version 0.44c Grin

Picture 01. You need to start SimPE and select Neighborhood then Neighborhood Browser from the Tools tab ...

Picture 02. Select the required neighbourhood which is Pleasantview then click open ...

Picture 03. Select Neighborhood/Memory from the Resource Tree on the left hand side then select the file in the Packed Files window ...

Picture 04. Now select Skip Broke from the list of sims and select 'I Am Dead' ...

Note there are 2 Skips, one at number 27 and another at number 88 in the list. In my game the second one is the Skip with character data. You will know which one is the correct Skip by the squares in the top left corner. One has a blue square; the other has both pink and blue squares. You require the one with *just a blue square* as pink indicates no character data.

Picture 05. Click delete to delete the ‘I am dead' memory, then click ‘Commit'. Select the second ‘I am dead' memory, repeat, then save your file.

Picture 06. Now select Brandi Broke from the list of sims.  Select ‘Made Made best Friends with unknown (0x4DAF6C0D).

Picture 07. Select Skip Broke in the subject box then click ‘Commit'.  Repeat steps 6 and 7 for ‘Had Very First Kiss', ‘Kissed for the First Time', ‘Fell in Love with', ‘Got Engaged to', ‘Got Married to' and finally ‘Did woohoo with'.

Picture 08. Select ‘Unknown (0x4DAF6C0D) Died' …

Picture 09. Click delete to delete the memory, then click ‘Commit' then save your file.

Picture 10. Now select Dustin Broke from the list of sims.  Select ‘Learned to Walk from Unknown (0x4DAF6C0D).

Picture 11. Select Skip Broke in the subject box then click ‘Commit'.  Repeat steps 10 and 11 for ‘Learned to Talk'.

Picture 12. Select ‘Unknown (0x4DAF6C0D) Died' …

Picture 13. Click delete to delete the memory, then click ‘Commit' then save your file.

No reason, just force of habit nectere Grin The same is true when I let the game generate some of the missing memories.  I'm worried that creating them manually is not quite the same.  I could be imagining things but I thought JM mentioned that same of the token data is missed out when you create memories manually.

Momthing I didn't realise the new version of SimPE was different.  I'll have to take a look this evening.

OK, I created a new computer account therefore I have a fresh neighbourhood install.  I also have SimPe version 0.40.1992.25042  Here's what I did:

01. Selected Neighborhood Browser from the Plugins tab, then Pleasantview then open.
02. Selected Neighborhood/Memory from the list of filetypes, selected the file in the Packed Files window, then selected Plugin View.
03. Selected the Skip Broke between Darleen Dreamer & Lucy Hanby.
04. Deleted the first ‘I am dead' memory, then clicked ‘Commit'.  Repeated with the second then saved.
05. Deleted "Skip Broke Died" memories from Brandi and Dustin.
06. Changed Brandi's Skip memories (apart from Met Skip) to link to 0x00D0 rather than 0x0020.
07. Selected Sim Description from the list of filetypes, typed 0x00D0 into the Instance Filter box, then selected the file in the Packed Files window.
08. I changed Unlinked 0x0001 to 0x0000, clicked commit then saved.
09. I removed the tick from Is Ghost, clicked commit then saved.
10. Finally I removed the relationship for Brandi Broke, clicked commit then saved.
11. I went into the game and from Don Lothario's house I added Skip Broke using testingCheatsEnabled then saved the lot.  A quit to he neighbourhood then returned to make Skip was ok (he was) and while Don was cleaning, I got Skip to move out using Don's pc then let him move into an empty house.
12. Back in SimPe I deleted Skips relationship status with Don and removed the moved in/out memories for Don and Skip.
13. In the new house I used Inge's shrub to summon Brandi so they could meet, become best friends and fall in love.  This way the game creates some of the memories Skip requires instead of me creating them.  The memories the game can generate are shown in red.

*Edit* The memories Skip should have are as follows:

Grew Up Well
Met Brandi Broke (0xADD79121)
Made Best Friends with Brandi Broke (0xADD79121)

Grew Up Well
Had Very First Kiss with Brandi Broke (0xADD79121)
Kissed Brandi Broke for the First Time (0xADD79121)

Grew Up Well
Fell in Love with Brandi Broke (0xADD79121)
Got Engaged to Brandi Broke (0xADD79121)
Got Married to Brandi Broke (0xADD79121)
Did WooHoo with Brandi Broke (0xADD79121)

Bob Newbie (0x0DAF718D) Died
Betty Newbie (0xADAF709A) Died
Had Dustin Broke (0xEDAE7952)!
Taught Dustin Broke (0xEDAE7952) to Walk
Taught Dustin Broke (0xEDAE7952) to Talk
Dustin Broke (0xEDAE7952) Grew Up Well
Dustin Broke (0xEDAE7952) Grew Up Badly
Had Beau Broke (0x6DAE79D9)!

I'm afraid I can't find any problems with Skip at all Undecided  He seems perfectly happy and in my other game he is almost 70 and has moved house a couple of times.  Have you removed the "Skip Died" memories from Brandi and Dustin?

Yep, Morague has a great tutorial over at MTS2 and the unlocked clothes at VS.  I'll just get the link.

82  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: YA pregnancy? on: 2005 August 06, 13:05:24
Sorry, but I cannot get your method to work at all SimsHost.  I have two students named Tom Freshe and Simon Goldman living in the ‘Broke' Fraternity.  They were halfway through their final semester so I played them and let them graduate.  They are now living in the fraternity with 70 hours left before they need to leave campus.  Ex-member Zack Hourvitz lives in Pleasantview and as he is best friends with both of them, he asked them both over.  I did not have a propose move in option so I'm not sure what's happening with your game.  As mentioned above, sims in the regular neighbourhood can only invite YA townies to move in and they immediately transition into adults.  Player sims need to drop out of college or graduate before they move to the sim bin ready for merging into a household.  As phyllisp mentioned, you cannot propose move in when living in a dorm either Huh  Sorry, but I can't see how you can move sims from campus to the neighbouhood without resorting to hacks or cheats.
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Barrel Stands (and other weird desires) on: 2005 August 05, 11:36:20
You know what I've never tried Posie? A deep fried Mars bar, I really think it's about time I did - only our local chippy doesn't do them, I'll have to hunt.

If you take your own mars bar with you, most will deep fry it for around 15p Grin
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Barrel Stands (and other weird desires) on: 2005 August 05, 11:14:24
Well imagine my reaction when I first heard a Brit say "smoke a fag,"  I thought it was a hate crime.

*Snorts* That's great Cheesy

Actually northerners have some really odd phrases.  I've only been in Manchester for a short while as I was born down south and my family originate from London.  My pet hate is "chip barm".  I threw an absolute wobbly in the fish & chip shop when I was offered that.  It's a damn bread roll!  Not only that, I was offered gravy for the chips.  Totally minging.  Hmm no-one has sausages in batter 'round here  either *sulks*

85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: YA pregnancy? on: 2005 August 05, 09:55:03
There is a way to move kids and other folks back from the university without resorting to hacks or cheats.

Have a sim who lives in the main neighborhood invite the folks with kids to move in.  They can bring their kids with them.  You can always just have them move right back out again if they're entering the wrong household, and you'll have them back in the sim bin where you wanted them.

I'm afraid that doesn't seem to work SimsHost.  Sims in the regular neighbourhood can only invite YA townies to move in and they immediately transition into adults.  Player sims need to drop out of college or graduate, however the babies are left behind.  I'm really not sure how you managed to move them Huh

PS phyllisp I unfortunately said something a litlle stronger than oops when my fraternity sim started to show Grin  I really wasn't expecting that at all!
86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: YA pregnancy? on: 2005 August 04, 21:51:17
Well, except that he doesn't have maternity clothes, so he goes naturalist style.

That is true, and it also causes other problems such as the baby not aging plus the baby cannot be moved back to the neighbouhood without a cheat.  I thought I'd mention it as I recently moved a sim into my Greek house and he started to show Smiley
87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: YA pregnancy? on: 2005 August 04, 21:43:02
From what I've read, YA males who get abducted at Uni come back pregnant, but the pregnancy is "on hold" until they return to the neighborhood.  I don't know if this was intentional on Maxis' part or an oversight, but there you have it.

This is true however if you have your sim move house whilst still living on campus, he will have a normal pregnancy. Cheesy
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis agrees with Laurenke on: 2005 August 02, 17:52:36
My understanding is that to have blue, green, grey or hazel eyes, you need to have the (recessive) gene on both sides of the family, in other words, both parents have to be carrying it, but it may have never actually appeared for generations, and can make it's appearance simply because it finds a match.

In my family, my mother had brown eyes, my father had blue, and we all got blue or blue/grey.  However, my sister's daughter has brown eyes like her father.

Also, if both sides of the family have only the blue-eyes gene, then brown eyes are an impossiblity, so if Afro-American, or Afro-British etc. parents both have blue eyes, then their children will as well.  You  need two blue-eyed genes to have blue eyes, only one brown-eyed gene for brown.

I may have this a little confused, so any biologists out there who can correct me, I stand corected.

Unfortunately it isn't that simple and hair and eye colour do not follow the straightforward Mendelian inheritance patterns you are taught in school.  Both eye colour and hair colour are determined from 8 different alleles each expressing different amounts of melanin.  It's unlikely having both parents with blue eyes would produce brown eyed children however it can happen.
89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis agrees with Laurenke on: 2005 August 02, 16:22:04
As far as I'm aware, yes, however most babies tend to have blue eyes as you have mentioned.  My niece had very blue eyes but now her eyes are dark brown like mine.  The earliest photo I have with me, is me aged 9 months with brown eyes.
90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis agrees with Laurenke on: 2005 August 02, 16:16:41
Certainly where I come from (UK) the most common eye colour is blue or blue/grey, which is what mine are.  I'm your typical 'English Rose' - blue eyes, very pale skin and very dark brown, almost black, hair (I'd make a great vampire). I have to admit that I've always thought that blue were more dominant than brown, simply because I rarely see anyone with brown eyes and then they're nearly always African or Asian.  Here it's mainly various shades of blue and grey, either separately or combined.  In fact, having just checked on Google, it appears that England (where I live) has the highest rate of blue eyes in the world, namely 90% of the population, which explains why I always thought they were dominant!  Now I am going to have to find out why we have the highest rate of blue eyes in the world.  I mean, 90% and they're supposed to be recessive?  That's very interesting ...

Very interesting as I have dark brown eyes which makes me part of the 10% minority.  However having brown eyes is also very rare when combined with red hair (green eye alleles are normally paired with red hair and cross-linking is uncommon) making my father and I that extra bit special.  Cool Grin
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnancy Controller Question (SimPE) on: 2005 July 30, 22:38:42
The pre-programmed pregnancy code is 0009 00D0 004A 0001 as mentioned above.  Both a friend and I have changed 00D0 to other sim references yet whenever we do this, the new father always appears on the tree so I'm unsure why it doesn't work for you.  We have both tried self-pollinations with sims, then converted the second group of 4.  Again, each time we do this the new father is listed on the family tree.  From what I am lead to believe, group 1 = pregnancy, group 2 = father ID, group 3 = pregnancy time (i.e birth hour, semester) and group 4 = single/twin status.  Changing group 4 to 0002 does indeed convert single births to twins.  Have you deleted the space after the last group of 4 before committing changes?  If not SimPE adds another group of 4 numbers and whether this interferes or not I wouldn't like to comment.  However I have changed numerous fathers during experimentation and have never had the problems you mention Huh
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: who's playing this game? on: 2005 July 30, 18:03:49
Well I have a BSc and MSc in Biochemistry and have previously worked in the pharmaceutical industry.  I've qualified for my MCSE and I'll be staring a new pharmaceutical job Monday.  I am a control freak and therefore I'm not over keen on macrotastics.  Whilst I complain about Uni, I still have to do everything by hand.  I'm certainly not artistic by any stretch of the imagination!
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Censorship again! on: 2005 July 29, 13:03:08
I'm with JM on this one. It'll blow over. Until the final verdict or whatever is reached, what's the point of kicking up a fuss? I see no point.

This is very true however if you are still interested in the issue read this thread.  There are some links in there that you'll probably find useful.  Personally I don't care either way.  The only advantage for an M rating would be that immature children wouldn't be playing the game and posting to the BBS which *may* increase the BBS's credibility.
94  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Am I a bad person? on: 2005 July 29, 12:44:38
Ancient Sim it is mood dependent.  If your sim has decent stats they will fill more of the bar than a sim that is half asleep lacking in social.  That was my fault; I should have specified this earlier.  This is why some sims that have a 3/4 full bar only get a 3.9 and an A- grade.  In addition they need to make the exam on time Wink
95  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Plans for Nightlife on: 2005 July 29, 12:20:36
Drill a large basement. Then witness what your lot looks like in the neighborhood view. The terrain around the house will look like it's getting sucked into a sinkhole, starting with the stairs to the porch looking like they're suffering from a bad case of receding gumlines. It looks quite awful, and limits the size of the basement to a somewhat arbitrary figure often much smaller than the foundation of the house it's being drilled under.

Thank god I'm not the only one to have witnessed that.  As much as like having basement rooms for storing career rewards or useless crap, I hate what it does to the house.

*sniggers* this is very true trubble.  Also vecki your YA only needs to fill 3/4 of the bar as the remaining 1/4 will be gained by sitting the final  Wink

You're welcome Smiley  Hmm don't you just love it when sims get abducted while their partners are pregnant?  I'm fascinated by twins and I'll often reload after try for a baby if my sims do not conceive twins.  I've now had two abduction cases that have resulted in four babies due to the male giving birth to twins.  The only advantage is that you can teach all the toddlers in one go rather than having 4 separate toddler phases.  I don't envy you with all that restoring you've had to do!
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How Does Game Determine Painting Price? on: 2005 July 27, 10:22:57
No, I meant the number of simoleons the first painting sold for.  It can vary between 2, 4 and 5 simoleons.

Ahh I see.  Unfortunately I think Dustin's first painting was around the §480 mark as sims tend to practise the guitar to build creativity.  Does the initial painting value affect the eventual selling price of masterpieces?  Dustin has completed around 18 masterpieces but he doesn't seem to be getting any more money for his latest creations  Undecided
100  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How Does Game Determine Painting Price? on: 2005 July 27, 10:09:17
Dustin Broke (Fortune Sim with no interest in culture) sells paintings worth §764 on a regular basis.  I was trying to find out what the maximum price a painting can sell for by posting on the BBS but I haven't really had a straight answer.  Quick question, what do you mean by starting with creativity 5?  Do you mean when the sim in question switched to learning creativity via the easel instead of instruments?
