51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 14, 00:50:31
Sorry to be a pain here but I don't believe you addressed the issue of the special Uni NPCs.  Do you know if the patch allows them to be moved in with families in the main neighbourhood in the same was as the YA townies?  It does seem odd that townies can move in, transition to adult and get a degree however the cheerleaders and mascots cannot do so.  I really would like it if the patch could address the issue of the cheerleaders constantly appearing as llamas during their adult years.  Also I presume the missing secret society memory is a design issue?
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 13, 22:15:54
Actually I have thought of another bug.  Marrying cheerleaders is quite problematic.  Firstly the cheerleader must be moved in to your house at College and therefore you need to graduate the sim or get her to drop out.  You cannot just move her in if the proposing sim is an adult like you can with townie young adults.  Secondly she never seems to totally lose her NPC status.  Whenever she visits other lots she will revert from her clothes into the llama suit.  Having to change her clothes each time you visit the lot is a bit of a pain.

Oops almost forgot, what about the headmaster?  He is one of the most problematic NPCs in the game.  Saving the game between calling the headmaster and him arriving causes him to reject your family on the spot.  I think JM has a thread so I'll be back in a minute Wink  Here's a quote:

MYTH: The Headmaster instantly rejecting a family on arrival is caused by poor-quality yards, furniture, family funds, or other family state. Improving your yard, making your family richer, making the members like each other more, or improving their grades even when they are already above a C will make him more tractable.
STATUS: FALSE. The headmaster's snooty 1700 departure is caused by a bug relating to the saving of your game after calling the headmaster. Do not save your game after calling the headmaster. It is advised that you do not call the headmaster hours in advance. Call only shortly before or during hour 17 (5pm), and he will arrive immediately. Do not save after calling the headmaster until he leaves. If you do experience a snooty instant-departure, the headmaster will perform his proper ritual if called back immediately.

I'm having someone look at the College want (it may have been fixed, but investigating).

Thanks very much.

I do understand about the memories however I have been concerned as they count towards the overall character count.  It is good to know that you have increased the max iterations in Nightlife however I think I'll stick to keeping my families in one place Wink
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 13, 20:18:01
It is impossible for sims to fulfil the graduate 3 sims from College want.  I've tried having the parent on the lot just prior to graduation and have also had them turn up for the graduation party but it doesn't help.  However I am not aware of a fix.  Here's a link to describe the situation.

Ability to move a sim from one neighborhood to the next? Via the lot catalog? What problems are you encountering?

I do not have a problem as such however I do not like the extra character files that are included during the move.  As the sims are no longer friendly with townies, can their memories be wiped to stop the need for the useless character files taking up unnecessary space in the characters folder?
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 13, 19:06:09
I have a big problem with children that arrive home from school at the same time as their parents.  They get the queue to hug a parent which causes them to ignore getting out their homework and instead they "jump" off the bus.  Some children end up in the the garden, others warp to the kitchen.  Pescado's hugging hack currently fixes this.

Also have the handhelds been fixed so that they no longer cause crushes?
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 13, 18:26:39
I want you all to be able to play w/o tearing your hair out as well--it sounds painful.  Is there a centralized list of bugs that cause the "huge fireball from outer space?"  Meaning crash bugs, jump bugs, things being deleted, etc.  Please, nothing "design" related, because we all have different opinions on how the game *should* work (and I can't fix those anyhow).

Have you tried looking through Kmlough's list of bugs in the University section of the official site?
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professor regeneration? on: 2005 September 12, 15:21:28
Oh of course, thanks very much Kitiara Smiley  There are 11 majors to choose from in addition to the standard undeclared major that you mention.  So far all my sims on the same course are meeting the same two professors so I can only assume they are regenerated when the pool needs restocking.
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professor regeneration? on: 2005 September 12, 14:46:10
I've actually just created a new neighbourhood and used the deleteallcharacters cheat.  When my sim moved into a dorm the game lagged and created 24 professors.  Presumably 2 professors are needed per degree subject at any given time Huh

*Edit* Actually there are only 11 majors so I have no idea why I have 24 professors.  As Ancient Sim mentions I also have one male and one female per major.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: First NL bugs??? on: 2005 September 10, 17:34:16
I had indeed seen that virgalibabe whilst perusing the thread yesterday evening.  I can only hope that the install has overwritten files in order to patch the game without giving the expected notification.  However in reality I suspect that there isn't a patch within the game.  My partner plays Battlefield 2 and I'm lead to believe that this game is shortly to have an expansion pack released for it.  The many forums demand a second patch before the release of the expansion pack and surprise surprise, this game is another EA masterpiece.  I'm afraid I can't supply further information on this issue as first person shooters are not my style Wink

Momthing that was a great post however the BBS is down right now and I cannot see it in all of its glory.  Did you have the usual negative replies?
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: First NL bugs??? on: 2005 September 09, 21:39:52
"hacks/downloads/custom content screws up the game"
"I NEVER had a bug in my game, so it stands to reason that you are all hallucinating"
"Maxis does such hard work, loves us, etc., let's worship the ground they walk on"
"ea/maxis is giving us a great game out of the goodness of their heart...money? what money"
"it's the evil boolprop (or woolprop Wink)"
"ea/maxis didn't have enough time to fix uni"
"[insert own quotes]"

Nice summary G Smiley  It does annoy me when certain users refuse to believe bugs exist and resort to throwing a tantrum and/or name calling.  I don't mind them disagreeing however I would like to see them disagree in a constructive manner.  For me, the prize goes to Becnivonville for her complete lack of understanding and her patronising derogatory comments.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: First NL bugs??? on: 2005 September 09, 12:11:49
Gosh, and I thought Uni was buggy.  Ivy, I'll pass on your request to twain as he sure does like a good rant Grin
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Super secrect Survey on BBS on: 2005 September 01, 14:14:17
TwoJeffs has a fix for the teddy bear (and the bunny).

Zeljka:  Did the toddlers get any relationship points or social satisfaction from talking to each other?

They do indeed Smiley  When I was playing with just TS2 installed, I used to stop toddlers learning after a while so that they didn't gain too many skill points.  Therefore they would spend the rest of the time playing together.  In case you were wondering why, I wanted them to get all 10 career rewards as adults in the shortest amount of time possible.  Obviously it doesn't matter if you have Uni installed.  I've had toddlers play with toys and when they get on well, the relationship can increase in 5 point increments.  Toddlers can also increase relationships by playing with the dolls house.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Mysterious Choking Death on: 2005 August 30, 21:31:10
lol, I'm afraid I'm not too sure ElviraGoth as this is Demosthenes1713's research.  You could try leaving SimMasterDemos a gb entry at the official site and ask for further details about the families?  She's very nice and I'm sure she will be able to give you further details on the setup of her experiment.  Maybe the pair of you could work out what is the same in both games and locate the exact problem?
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Mysterious Choking Death on: 2005 August 30, 20:38:15
SimMasterDemos studied this phenomenon back in January however she was Demosthenes1713 then Wink  For further information please see here.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Re-starting a neighbourhood? on: 2005 August 26, 10:40:35
Blue, the Neighbourhood folders can be found in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods however you can also copy the default folders from the original cd/dvd without having to reinstall.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing haircolor genetically with Sim PE on: 2005 August 23, 07:57:13
I do have a tutorial over the BBS if you would like to see screen shots.  If so you will find it here however it is exactly as Ancient Sim describes Smiley
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting memories for dummies on: 2005 August 23, 07:53:50
The Grim Reaper and The Hula Girls are normally the first few characters in the list.  However with the new version of SimPE all sims without character data are listed as unknown.  It would be wise not to delete them as these unknown characters are Maxis created character for the memories of Skip, Brandi etc.  Unknown sims appearing at places further down the list than Skip Broke are safe to delete providing you know who they were to begin to with.  Remember if an unknown sim was a parent and you delete them, it will also remove them from the family tree.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting memories for dummies on: 2005 August 22, 14:27:20
Firstly in order to get to the memories you need to start SimPE and if you are using the latest version, select Neighborhood then Neighborhood Browser from the Tools tab.  Next select the required neighbourhood and click open.  Now select Neighborhood/Memory from the Resource Tree on the left hand side then select the file in the Packed Files window.  At the bottom of the screen is the "Experimental Memory Editor" and clicking on a sim will show you their memories.

Now memory deleting is quite simple.  Most corrupted memories actually appear to be death memories.  When you scroll though each individual's memories you will see that they look like this.  When you click on a memory the right side should look like this.

Corrupted memories do not have an "Event Owner" or "Subject".  The exceptions to this are the invisible tokens such as the "I am Dead" token or the "Controller - Pregnancy".  I would start by looking for memories which list unknown died instead of the name of a sim.  Click on the memory then click the delete button in the bottom right hand corner.  After deleting a memory click on "commit" to commit the changes.  Clicking commit is very important!  Finally save the file and quit SimPE.  Just incase something goes wrong always keep a backup of the file.  Pleasantview for example is the N001_Neighborhood.package file found in \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\N001 Smiley

I'm sorry to hear that SJ however just to reiterate, breast cancer treatment has greatly improved over the last few years.  My grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer just before I was born in the mid 70's and she's still going strong.  Keep your chin up, and I'm sure things will work out for you and your mother Smiley
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Uni sending YA home after one semester on: 2005 August 10, 22:06:45
Bettybabysim had a similar problem.  She moved the affected sims to new lots and they continued through Uni.  Here's the link.
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Damn alienware hack on: 2005 August 10, 11:46:36
Just thought I'd mention that the "Alienware; everything but the saucer" is a MaxoidMonkey creation as Phyllis mentioned.  When I downloaded and installed it into my game it installed 2 files: 95abb5d160cfd12c6ae38da7da5b0d6a.package and aaccad1d85ca47934ec100add1c9a8c5.package  I've since removed the Alienware pc as it is lacking the Uni options.
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Resurrecting Skip Broke (A SimPE Question) on: 2005 August 10, 08:15:22
Oh, I'm done. I wrote down everything faithfully, even down to sketching the SimPe graphics. The sketches look rather horrible, luckily no one but me has to look at them Cheesy

Next project (for me): change sim DNA. I can't wait to mess up my neighborhood, luckily its my 'experimental purposes' neighborhood. You would'nt happen to have a nifty tutorial on that one do you? Yeah, I know, use the search feature...so maybe I want to qualify for the IoD Cheesy

G.

It is the old SimPe but you can find it here.

Momthing, the new Skip tutorial should be up in around 5 mins Grin
