26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fears and Wants that don't trigger on: 2008 April 15, 09:50:36
To be an over-achiever they have to have the A+ before they hit the top of the teen career.  Has been that way since the base game.

hmmm...didn't know that.  Thanks.  That's usually the way it happens with me, this was the first time the other way around...the teen had an A+ but for some reason it went down to an A right before she got the promotion.
27  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is it Curtains? on: 2008 April 14, 11:26:44
Does it occur when trying to move a sim/family in?  If so we're having the same error.  I've stumbled accross a work around; disable CC, move them in, save, re-enable CC, quit and restart.  It might be a good idea for us to compare hack lists, narrow down which hack it is causing it...
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fears and Wants that don't trigger on: 2008 April 13, 07:00:22
Right before I installed FT I had a sim father with a want for his daughter to 'be an overachiever', teen in question was at the top of her carreer and had an A...came back from school the next day with an A+...want didn't trigger.  Haven't had a chance to try to reproduce the problem as I'm currently trying to track down a hack that I apparently forgot to update/remove...
29  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Plantsims on: 2008 January 06, 04:01:06
Lot full of Sims?  I never would have picked that...I wonder why it causes that...and why it makes it look like something else causing it...

guess I'm going to have to ban plantsims from my game then... Cry

Multiple copies?  Thought I already had checked (I have an ok filing system...but it's not perfect...it has a human element involved afterall) I'll double check with clean installer *does so* nope...not a multiple.

I didn't have the problem with Seasons...only since I've had Bon Voyage *wonders whether something has got corrupted somewhere*
31  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Plantsims on: 2007 December 28, 07:57:31
Did that yesterday again on the off chance I'd downloaded and forgotten to install it.  Got it straight from the Bon Voyage directory.

edit: *double checks* yep, the one in my downloads is the latest according to the Bon Voyage directory and I don't have 2 of them in there.  Deleted both caches on the off chance it might help; no joy.  Created new plantsims on the chance that it's the Maxis sims I was using to try to get everything working that were broken, still the same problem.  What I don't get is they aren't macroing or anything, often just standing there in the sun (or walking by on another lot)

My game has been relatively well behaved up until this latest expansion and to be honest I really don't have a good skill set for tracking down the problem causes...

*sigh* any ideas as to what's causing this?  I have several dozen examples and it only seems to affect plantsims, but as far as I know I don't have any hacks that affect plantsims only.

I feel like an idiot at the moment...

I do my best to forget the animated atrocities ever existed *grin*

I love the movies, just that I miss some bits that were in the books.

And that other elven guy, I forget his name too because I'm terrible with names, he has the long "blonde" hair (it's so obviously fake, like Orlando Bloom's) and kind of a squarish face? I keep thinking he was either a lot more important or a lot less important, and it's annoying.

Haldir?  He was quite important...but he WASN'T at Helms Deep and didn't die *mumbles* he's the March Warden of Lothlórien

I missed the Ride of the Grey Army, and the Twins, and Glorfindel, and...I'll shut up now *grin*

Are there any other solutions to this?  Mine has suddenly decided to do the same thing and I've tried everything I can think of short of doing a complete reinstall.  It started happening the next time I tried to play after I did a save on exit, which I don't usually do because I once lost an entire sub-neighbourhood after one (probably due to an unrelated glitch but it's habit now) but I was really tired and didn't want to wait for a save before falling into bed.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: laptop problem on: 2006 December 05, 10:52:50
What might also work: If you have a recordable DVD or a fast network, just transfer the files of your existing TS2 install to the same location on your laptop, and transfer the registry data for TS2.

the laptop doesn't have a DVD, which is where the problem is coming from, but I do have it networked.

How would I go about transfering the registry data?
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: laptop problem on: 2006 December 05, 10:04:49
You don't actually need a full 1:1 image to install off of, and since it's only the base game, you will never need to actually insert it again after the install.

installing isn't the problem it's getting Uni to finish installing because it wants the disk inserted to 'check the installation is up to date' that's the problem.  And for some reason I can't seem to manage to make an image of it...*frowns at computer*

$99 for the base game Shocked

I hope you're not talking about US$ there...

AU$ though that is with the party pack included.

Everyone has been very helpful.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: laptop problem on: 2006 December 03, 09:15:56
how do I do that?
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / laptop problem on: 2006 December 03, 09:09:08
Hi,

I've been trying to install Sims 2 on a laptop however the base game is on a DVD, which the laptop doesn't have, so I had to share a DVD drive to get it to work.  Everything installs fine until the last bit of Uni; it wants to update the game and wants me to insert the DVD, which is a slight impossibility as it doesn't register the disk being put in the DVD drive of the networked computer and can't run it itself.

Any suggestions?  I really don't feel like paying $99 just to get a CD version of it...
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pet pregnancy questions on: 2006 November 07, 09:25:20
are there any other hacks that produce that effect?  I've been hunting and hunting and I think I've weeded out the incompatible things but I still have several stuck pet pregnancies.  I must admit I've never had this much trouble with a new expansion pack before so I'm rather inexperienced at tracking down problems...

On the subject of pet pregnancies...the "I'm too pregnant to go to work" thing then getting a job performance hit for not going sucks
42  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: CAS & Pets on: 2006 November 01, 22:18:04
how appropriate *lol*

I've been checking for updates and from what had been said I'd honestly thought that aside from some slightly weird behaviours it didn't actually cause anything major, I stand corrected.  Though if I remember correctly; when I first went through the whole update hacks thing I thought I'd seen a pets update, though I obviously must have misread, which would explain why it wasn't actually removed in the first place.  I'm not usually that dumb *grin*

you ended up out in space in CAS too? same here, though it wasn't when I tried rotating the dog.
44  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: CAS & Pets on: 2006 November 01, 03:41:04
ok...this looks like the one, it's the only one referring to CAS...though who 'Maxx' is I don't know, I'd guess that's the 'stand in name' for sims in creation or something

45  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / CAS & Pets on: 2006 October 28, 07:25:56
It's probably just me having been dumb but I can't for the life of me figure out how.  I've just installed Pets, thought I'd updated everything I needed to and removed anything that could cause a problem.  Went into CAS to create some sims as I wanted to make a family that bred dogs and cats to explore it all...it had been ok when I explored the breeds on my first load but I hadn't made any at that point just looked around then went and played the Kats family for a bit (I don't like leaving occupied lots in the catalogue).  Went to create the humans first, first thing I noticed was she wasn't standing on the round rug but back against the wall.  She rotated fine so I just thought it a weird bug, until I clicked 2 to go onto her face...the camera then slid through the wall, past the second room (the photography room) and out the wall...going back to 1 didn't move the camera but clicking 2 again moved it further.  I ended up creating 2 sims 'blind' hoping that then creating a pet might put the camera back where it was supposed to be...no such luck...saved the family and went back in to create the pet portions...the camera was in exactly the same position (middle of nowhere below the 'ground' and out beyond the lot borders...looked weird just hanging there in space).  Turned on testing cheats in the hope that it might have something that could help me get the camera back to where it was supposed to be...and promptly realised that it wouldn't help me at all without being able to click on anything.  So I tried right clicking on the small section of wall that I could still see and got an error with a sim (I think), probably the cat I was creating, and then crashed.

I'd attach the error log except I have no idea where it's located, I don't usually run into big problems...I've probably been lucky that way...the few times I have had problems it's been something stupid I've done and it's pretty easy to figure out...this time I have no clue what I could have done; I don't mess with the CAS lot, don't have a camera hack in with Pets and the last time I did was with Nightlife.  I have all the expansions and the Party Pack, but not Family Fun Stuff (never will) or Glamour Life (maybe at some point).  Help?

that's actually the beards I have, figured they were already sorted but now I know how to do it myself I can get some more...and hope they actually look decent...downloaded some eyebrows shortly after I got the game and they were a brown smudge in the general vacinity of the eyebrow ridge...turned me off facial hair downloads until I saw those beards Cheesy
