I must admit to being quite impressed.
52  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Mailbox problems with AM installed on: 2012 December 06, 16:08:51
Awesomemod is what's causing the freeze, but it might be innocent of the omni plant spawning.

I am unable to download this, since you apparently made it registration only. Provide relevant details to get file.

Stupid fucking "free" file hosting.

Try these:

One of the bloody things must work.
54  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2012 December 01, 20:08:53
I'd love it if only inappropriate and insane sims had the indecency to call up married sims to ask them on a date.  Or maybe only do so if the sim in question already has a slutty reputation.
55  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Mailbox problems with AM installed on: 2012 December 01, 09:14:03
...as far as I can tell it was almost spot on.

Anyway...  Can we get back to figuring out what the hell is going on with these omni plants?
56  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Mailbox problems with AM installed on: 2012 November 30, 23:04:38
Just an off the cuff idea, does anyone else use Buzzler's BoxOfSeeds sorter for gardeners?

Dammit, I do.  It claims to be "Compatible with 1.42", but I'll try removing it.  It certainly seems like a likely culprit.

Edit: Removed it, but omni plant spam is still happening.  Undecided
57  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: An idea for the game on: 2012 November 30, 21:16:57
Good bloody luck.  It's pretty clear that you don't know much about coding.  Do you have any fucking idea how much work it is to make a useful search from scratch?
In order to make something even remotely close to what you're requesting you'd have to implement a whole new interface for one.  There's no part of the game you could copy this from, or anything even remotely like it.  I guess it might be possible to do something from the cheat console, but I can't imagine any way to make it user friendly enough to be useful.
If you somehow manage to pull this off as your first mod, you have a great career ahead of you as a programmer.

Sorry, I just made a thread about this in Pudding, it didn't occur to me that it could be an awesome fault.  Feel free to merge thread.

Here you go, Pes:

Good old Sunset Valley.  Lots of CC, but it loads fine without it.

Edit:
OK, I've been doing some more experimenting.
First of all, since bills and omniplants seems to be main characters in this story I dropped the No Bills Ever trait from my sim, and nuked her gardening skill.  Neither seems to have made any noticeable difference.

This is what my inventory looked like when I first managed to empty the mailbox:

It's bills and giftboxes all the way down.
Hovering over the bills it says "bill", but there are no interactions, they can't be paid, and they can't be moved or deleted without using setconfig MoveInventoryObjects true.  The gifts say "Omni plant" and can likewise not be interacted with.
I experimented with debug-clicking on the mailbox and using View Inventory.
First I tried deleting all the bills and letting a sim get mail: Crash.
Then I deleted the omniplants and fetched mail: No crash.
Also the bills turns out not to be bills, but in fact more damned love letters.

So it's pretty safe to say that the unsolicited omniplant shipments are at the root of this evil.

I deleted all the letters and the game continued as before for about a day or two, then a new shipment of plant spam arrived.  I just keep getting new ones; sometimes three or four a day.
I'll do some more experiments and see what happens.

HOLY ERROR LOGS, BATMAN!

OK, it does not freeze when I took awesome mod out, but the stream of errors was quite unsettling.  It took half a dozen turns to the mailbox to get all the mail out because of sims reseting. There was an awful lot of unpayable bills, mountains of omni seeds (which I sincerely doubt I ever ordered) in gift-wrapped boxes, a few reward certificates, and about a hundred (literally) love letters and creepy gifts from stalkers.

Is there any possible way to nuke the content of the mailbox?
60  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Game freezes when sim tries to fetch mail from mailbox on: 2012 November 30, 12:21:44
I hope someone can figure out what's causing this.
Every time a sim goes to get mail the game freezes completely.  It doesn't crash, but hangs there, animations continue, water ripples, leaves rustle, and butterflies flutter, but time is not moving and nothing happens.  I have to force the program closed from task manager.
Other interactions with the mailbox seems to be working, the mail man can deliver, faerie traps can be set, metals smelted, and omni seeds ordered.
As far as I can tell it only affects one household, but since that's the only household I play, it's a problem.
It's been going on since before I installed Seasons, but it might have started right after the last patch.
I've tried taking out ALL custom content except for awesomemod, and it still happens.  I'll try without awesomemod if someone can recommend an alternative safe noCD fix.  I've tried resetting and replacing the mailbox; no good.

As for computer specs, let's just say my computer is awesome, I can't check the exact specifications at the moment, but I have 24 bloody gigabytes of RAM.

What else can I try?

Edit:  By the way, when testing faerie trap, my sim was able to attempt to get mail and trigger the trap without crashing, but when he went back to fetch the actual mail freeze happened.  So there's apparently something wrong with the mail itself.

Maybe I should have expressed myself more clearly:  Read the FAQ and fuck off!

Go away.
63  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2012 October 06, 10:50:59
Under the influence of Supreme Commander my sims have started curing themselves of positive potion effects.
64  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Random Crashing on: 2012 September 26, 17:59:02
Is there any particular mode that causes this? From what I can tell from the last time such an issue cropped up, it's some kind of deeply rooted internal engine bug that AwesomeMod somehow exposes.

I think collecting (everything) and fishing for something or other was what was going on when I finally made the connection.  I'd had problems in several neighbourhoods over a long time, and had almost given up the game as unplayable.  I never would have suspected awesomemod if it wasn't for the crashes happening in a completely fresh game, on a freshly formatted and re-installed computer, with no other CC at all.
65  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Random Crashing on: 2012 September 24, 21:19:40
I've found that I'm getting constant crashes if I try to run Supreme Commander on two sims at once.  Te crash log analyser reports it as "corrupt save", but the problem disappears when I stop trying too much awesomeness at once.

You will need a killer machine to run this baby.

I happen to have one, and I'm looking forward to giving it a go!
67  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: GOOD worlds that incorporate ALL EPs. on: 2012 July 23, 22:16:26
I've been playing Grey Meadow Island for a few days (ever since tryclyn uploaded it).  I like the look of it, but I keep getting corrupt saves and crashes to desktop.  Would not buy again. Sad
The hunt continues.
68  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: GOOD worlds that incorporate ALL EPs. on: 2012 July 17, 09:52:23
I saw this one awhile ago and downloaded it, but never got around to trying it out. Grey Meadow Island

That version does not appear to be updated for pets or showtime.
69  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: GOOD worlds that incorporate ALL EPs. on: 2012 July 14, 09:20:36
I really like the look of Grey Meadow.  Is there a ARRR-friendly download option?
70  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 03, 16:38:29
I've been having problems with crashes to desktop for a while too.  It started sometime not long before the last patch/pets, I remember hoping patching would fix it.  It comes and goes a bit, some times I save every few sim hours to be safe, while other times I can play for days with no trouble.
My computer certainly can't be described as low-end.  I have an excellent video card, plenty of ram, nicely defragmented hard drives with plenty of room; all new in august and carefully and cleanly assembled and installed by me, so no bundleware or other crap runs in the background.

I play very disinterestedly lately, so I haven't bothered to analyze the problem much.
71  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Family members asking sims to the prom: Bug or feature? on: 2011 December 29, 10:14:05
The teen in question this time has the loner trait.  I can't remember how it was the first time.

Also, it looks like there is only one other teen in the whole neighbourhood, and she's a first cousin.
72  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Family members asking sims to the prom: Bug or feature? on: 2011 December 29, 00:24:46
A while ago one of my teen sims got invited to the prom by his mother, an elder who lived on another lot.  I accepted without looking too carefully at the name and didn't notice before the prom started.  They seemed to hit it off, drinking punch and dancing all nigh.  I was worried they might get romantically involved, but thankfully this didn't happen.  His prom picture did confirm that he was indeed there with his mother.  I feared it might be a sign of impending doom, but no harm seems to have come of it and I forgot about it.
Just now I had something similar happen, in different game, a fresh neighbourhood; another young man was invited to the prom by his uncle.  This time I spotted it and turned him down.

Is this a feature designed to embarrass young sims who can't get a date themselves?
Is it a horrible perverted glitch?
73  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How to destroy all sim-written books in world? on: 2011 December 13, 09:17:08
Just out of curiosity; does it affect a sim's "books written score"?
74  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 Pets- Whats borked thread on: 2011 November 24, 07:15:35
I must say, it's nice of the horse to buy its owners a wedding present.  I hope it enjoys the thank you card.
75  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2011 November 22, 11:21:41
I'm getting an avalanche of flagrant errors.  Looks like someone is having trouble finding a bathroom, but it doesn't appear to be anyone in my active household.  It started while my cat was using the magic litter box, but that might be completely unrelated as the error flood continued after he finished his business.
