1  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Anyone using the "no cd" for spore? on: 2008 October 07, 06:46:51
Did you copy the crack to the SporeBin directory. If you copied/extracted the crack to desktop for example and double-clicked on it, certainly it cannot find the Data\* path from its current location. Double check where you extracted the no-cd patch to.

***face turns redder than a rabid babboon's butt cheeks***

What was I thinking!? Then again, I obviously wasn't thinking!    Cheesy

I'll go move it from the desktop now. THANK YOU!  Smiley

I'm having some trouble getting the no-cd crack to install. Super Bad Brain Day?    Undecided

What I did: Installed the game while disconnected to the Internet. No error message. Then I downloaded the crack from Gamefix. Extracted the .exe file and double-clicked on it. I get a message saying "Could not find the default preferences. The data directory is missing or corrupt. (1004)" After that the screen goes black for a second, and then I return to the desktop to see another message saying "Could not find a needed package.  The data directory is missing or corrupt. (1004)"

I have no idea why that happened. Is someone able to help, please?

Thank you very much to both of you! I feel totally drunk with happiness now.  Cheesy
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Ack! *stabs resolution problem* on: 2007 September 17, 07:31:34
I have a brand new computer, a beautiful 8800 GTS card (downloaded latest driver), and the game seems to run well. No glitch, no lag, no crash, so far. However, none of the game resolution options fits my monitor's resolution, which is 1680 x 1050. (My monitor is the Samsung SyncMaster 206BW.)  Instead, the smallest resolution option in the game is 1280 x 1024.

Everything looks fine on my screen but all my screen captures  appear horizontally "squeezed" because they are captured at the game resolution.

Is there a way to force the game to display the 1680 x 1050 resolution?   Cry
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Query About A Possible Rain and Puddles Hack or Mod on: 2007 March 17, 02:03:15
I thought that sims are supposed to like cringe and cover their heads when it rains.  No?  Did I imagine watching that somewhere?

Ste

they do cringe/hunch over a bit when they notice it's raining, I've seen my sims do it quite a few times since installing Seasons.

I thought it was rain, too, until I zoomed in and realized it was hail, not rain, that they were reacting to. XD
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim giggling all the time? What's wrong with him!? on: 2007 March 09, 17:35:44
Thank God, Elvira, I'm not the only one with the weird problem. XD (Not that I wished anyone else the plague but I was beginning to wonder if I am hallucinating!)

I never had the problem before. I do have Pets and Seasons. (Every EP, no SP.) Although gameplay is not affected, I'm just so tired of seeing people pointing and laughing and giggling at my poor Sim. It's just that one Sim and house (although the other Sims will still do the point-and-laugh routine when he's visiting on a different lot) and I'm afraid to start a new family because I don't want to experience deja vu with this weird glitch. XD
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim giggling all the time? What's wrong with him!? on: 2007 March 09, 09:51:30
Oh.

But he was never in the red. I'm obsessive about making sure they stay happy. Really really really, unrealistically, happy.  =D

I just want the finger-pointing and giggling to stop. XD

8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sim giggling all the time? What's wrong with him!? on: 2007 March 09, 07:04:46
I have no idea if this is normal, a glitch, an annoyance, or plain karma. I searched but didn't find a similar thread.

One of my Sims, like all of my Sims, started out dancing goofily. His housemates pointed and  laughed at him, of course. Said Goofy Dancing Sim, after that experience, started giggling to himself. I thought the pointing and laughing and all that incessant giggling would stop as soon as he chalks up enough dance points to dance properly. All of my other Sims do fine in that respect. But this particular Sim, even after he has learned to dance like a pro, is still attracting other Sims (who have never seen him dance goofily) to point and laugh at him even when he isn't dancing and is just talking or cooking. He also can't seem to stop giggling to himself. I've been forced to turn off the sound. I've heard enough insane giggling to last a lifetime.

What's going on? XD

PS. My Seasons game is running fine. No weird stuff. =)

Oh! *mortified* Sorry for posting the wrong recipes. Eep. *shakes fist at Prima Guide*
10  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Accurate recipes of Juices and Juice bugs! on: 2007 March 09, 03:45:23
Someone on S2C posted this from the Prima Guide. =)

Apple Juice (4 apples) - finish homework faster
Beauty cocktail (2 oranges, 1 cucumber) - love potion
Eggplant juice (1 eggplant) - random skill points
Lemonade (4 lemons) - cools sims down
Orange juice (4 oranges) - cures colds
Orangeade (3 oranges, 1 lemon) - random badge points
Pepper Punch (1 pepper, 4 pole beans, 2 apples) - energy boost
Pureed boot (1 boot) - freak out (sim does random animations), no hunger satisfaction
Strawberry juice (6 strawberries) - clears furious bit
Tomato juice (3 tomatoes) - warms sims up
Vegetable cocktail (2 tomatoes, 1 cucumber, 1 pepper, 3 pole beans) - builds skills faster

PS. For the orangeade to work the Sim must have at least a bronze badge in one talent.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd things I noticed about Seasons on: 2007 March 01, 23:58:33
Only played it for two days (with all global hacks removed from the Downloads folder) but, so far, so good. The only weird thing is the "Primp" option.  It's missing. (I don't miss it though.)
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis/EA update re nVidia & Pets incompatibility on: 2007 February 01, 21:50:31
I can live without the fish... and as long as Seasons is playable.  Tongue
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims can't move in since installing pets on: 2006 November 15, 06:25:11
I don't have this problem and I do have a few hacks installed, so I don't think it's a game-inherent bug. Just yesterday, playing on a lot with 3 Sims, 2 dogs and 1 cat, I had a Sim do a Propose - Move In and the invited Sim moved in right away.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Strange sims errors w/skunk on: 2006 November 06, 07:54:39
Oh! I'm not the only one with game errors whenever a skunk shows up. XD

I get an error message every few seconds after a skunk shows up. What's even more bizarre is that the skunk is a mutant skunk. After the first error message, it mutants into a two-legged, chicken-like critter and it floats around in mid-air. Geez. Creepiest thing ever.  Thank goodness my Sim was still able to shoo it off the lot. I never want to see it again. 8(

Straycat! Don't you have a blog? Which one is it? I remember this Lie and Crave pic!

Eh? XD I post on the sims2 LJ community (don't have a blog but I do have an LJ account) but I don't believe I've posted my Lie and Crave pic there. The only places where I have posted it are  insimenator.net and sims2community.com and you've probably seen it at either of these forums. 8D
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Better Photo taking on: 2006 July 10, 08:09:39
In addition to using the game's cameraman mode, I'd suggest installing Gunmod's Radiance Light System. Lighting is really important to photo-taking (in real life or in a video game) and lighting can create all sorts of different and dramatic moods. After installing Gunmod's hack, I was able to take pictures like these:

They have not been photoshopped (except for being resized) and are actually screen shots from my movie. The next one I have enhanced in Paint Shop Pro. It doesn't hurt to adjust the contrast levels!

Hope that helps. =)
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change how fast a food fills up the hunger bar? on: 2006 May 23, 07:10:37
Chinese food is actually very fattening for sims.

Thank goodness I'm not a Sim. I've been eating Chinese food since I grew teeth and I've always been skinny. If I turn sideways, I become practically invisible. =D
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Invisible Fish Poll on: 2006 May 23, 07:08:45
I originally had fish with my nVidia 5200. They dissappeared when I installed OFB.

Same here. XD
19  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Eat Crap II: Electric Boogaloo *UPDATED 12/21/05* on: 2006 April 03, 10:24:28
Ah... it's pizza! They keep eating pizza that's spoiled.  Shocked I didn't know pizza will not be affected by the hack at all.  Cry

Thank you for the clarification.   Smiley
20  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Eat Crap II: Electric Boogaloo *UPDATED 12/21/05* on: 2006 April 03, 05:37:47
Quote: Sims who would not eat out of a trash can will cease eating food that has gone spoiled.

This is the reason why I installed the hack. My Sims are all active, non-sloppy Sims. They will not eat out of the trashcan. However, even after installing the hack, they still eat spoiled food.  Cheesy That's what I meant when I said it didn't work for me. Maybe it's one of those unsolvable mysteries?  Cry
21  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Eat Crap II: Electric Boogaloo *UPDATED 12/21/05* on: 2006 April 02, 20:03:35
Installed this hack but it doesn't work.  Huh Will there be a OFB version soon?  Grin
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB *home* business ideas for the creatively challenged? on: 2006 March 25, 09:20:46
Started a dance studio last night. Ceiling-to-floor mirrors and bright lights and, oh, snapdragons to keep everyone in a good mood. Business has been very good. Once they start smustling, they can't seem to stop.  Cheesy
23  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Playable Shoppers on: 2006 March 11, 06:29:02
Thank goodness! *worships* I have a playable sim who owns a toy shop. It's doing very well. He has a gold badge and makes and sells water wigglers. And then he turns up at another playable sim's shop and buys a water wiggler there! WTF.  Shocked
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Post problems you've noticed, on: 2006 March 07, 03:47:24
Invisible fish, anyone? Ever since installing OFB, all the fish in the aquariums have become invisible. I have gotten rid of the old aquariums and bought and restocked new ones and the fish are still invisible.  Even though my Sims still derive fun from watching them (how!? they're invisible?!), I miss seeing the fish. XD
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Reporters not reporting? on: 2006 March 07, 03:40:51
I had one just after my shop opened and I didn't know who she was and I got a bad review.  I mean gimme a break my poor sim was still trying to learn how to work the cash register. Huh

Same here! It's terrible. My Sim was simply too busy with so many customers in the newly opened shop. The business is doing so well now. I wonder if there is a way to get rid of a bad review. Will another reporter come by or are we stuck with that initial bad review for all eternity? *weeps*
