The first time I had him write a novel I forgot what my plans were for him, and it ended up being titled "Dude, seriously?". I wish the title screen came up first, when you choose the plot points.
Lol! I had the same thing happen (because it took the guy half his adulthood to write the damn thing) so i thought "Teh kewl stuff!!1" was an open enough title Roll Eyes I remember it sold badly, not too surprising (although it might have had more to do with his lack of creative skillz...). So, yes, I agree about the title screen thing wholeheartedly.

My fubar book was a romance and I remember the "plot" went Money - Cruise Ship - Sunshine - Airplane - Question Mark.
But I want heart, kiss and woohoo!  Angry

Quote from: IcemanSimmer
Do these plot icons even have any meaning?
I never thought so, at least. Think they're just pretties that are supposed to appear in their "thought balloons" when they read.

Quote from: IcemanSimmer
Could I shut my eyes and randomly pick 5 icons and still get a best seller?
I can't see why not? Tongue I did it all the time after Joseph Hart had written over ten books and I  couldn't feel creative about the whole thing anymore (he wrote a total of 21 novels!)  Isn't it all about creative skill?

Ah, one of my bestselling sims went with the "... And You"-series. Cooking, cleaning, gardening, pet care... You name it; she knew it all. Then she met Peter Sims of the dread Garden Club, fell in love and started to write crappy romance. They all had "mysterious, handsome count" in the description, somwhere (oh, another peeve! There is a romantic book cover, but hardly no romantic plot icons? Wtf?)

Quote from: J. M. Pescado
I'm still trying to make "Lessons I Learned From Brynne" appear.
Wait! Any sim who attempts to read it will pee themselves? Please say it is so!

And someone at MTS2 unlocked the Maxis therapist's eyebrows (Why? Why? Why?):

Why notCheesy I'm downloading them now! I'll just give them a re-texture, and then. My bushy-browed townies. Let me show u them.

Not really related, but still... What's up with the ridiculously short titles for the books? I had carefully planned that the title of the first custom novel written with FT would be "The Mysterious Case Of The Countless Clues" but oh noes! Way too many characters! I had to do with just "The Mysterious Case" which wasn't nearly as thrilling.

The book description, which is even only readable when the book's stuck in a sim's inventory, can go on and on and on but the title must be limited to, like, 6 characters. Bah!

I admire and appreciate your mindreading abilities Wink Yesterday, I was looking for Jordan's thread to see if it said something about being updated/still compatible, but no.

But here dumbfool saves the day!

Will happily test it and I'll get back if something seems wrong (might take me a couple of days). Thanks and baa!

Cheesy Yes! The digging animation is still there after all Smiley Pets should be able to nom the corps and it should attract wolves (substituting for vultures).
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 June 10, 01:16:49
My own wish is that there would be a big, invisible (to the sims) hand that the sims are aware of to smack them across a room when they do something stupid. A learning behavior might/might not be part of the scheme so that they'd eventually stop that behavior and find some other stupid thing to do. For example: Sim makes lobster thermidor when they're nearly broke and their hunger isn't very low. Smack! Eventually sim learns to make the lobster only when extremely hungry and can afford it. Either that or we could have fun smacking them around!
I like this!  Grin One sim of mine did exactly as you described this night. I had her put the meal back in the fridge when done cooking, then I sent her to bed and wouldn't let her eat until her hunger was in red the day after that  Tongue. I'm very petty. Smack!

As for Squinges "No complaining"-thing: I just took it out (I have all EP:s up to and including FT) because it didn't do it's job for me. I don't think it broke something, it just didn't stop family and friends for throwing hissy fits over dirty plates at parties (God, GOD, how I hate it!). But it's working for others..?
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 30, 00:53:05
Argh! Coming back for a slice of humble pie, if you have any...

I don't understand Peggy! I've fixed several gappy hairs, some from Peggy, and it's usually just a matter of assigning a few vertices to 50% head, 50% neck and you're done, but this mesh makes me go WTFOMG?

It looks like there were some transparancy issues before I started to mess around with the mesh but it got a lot worse after my treatment. I got rid of the gaps, sure, but parts of the hair in the neck got transparent in the process... So, basically, I made it look worse than it did before.

Either the mesh was too fucked up to start with, or either I'm too much of a n000b for this complicated kind of mesh (yikes! 15 mesh groups! And over 10,000 polys. Per age!) but I don't think I can be of any help, after all. Which I regret, since I think it was a nice hair and I would have liked to have it (sans gaps) myself.

Sorry  Undecided
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 28, 17:07:54
Meh, fixing neck gaps is awfully easy (that's why I don't understand why Peggy doesn't fix them herself. Lazy, greedy bitch...)

I'll get on to it.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is influence...bathe working for you? on: 2008 May 28, 17:03:46
I can't make it work on residential lots (and I make sure all bathrooms were unlocked). Haven't tried on community lots. Could be tight pants, of course.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 27, 14:36:44
If you don't find a fixed version, I could try. But I don't have that hair and would need to get it from the booty (because it's pay, right? It looks too good for a free Peggy hair) so if you could tell me the file name/number in a PM it'd be of much help.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Selfmade vacation sims on: 2008 May 21, 14:26:11
*dreams*

The 'mysterious', hidden lot would be 'The Black Lodge'. Where Bob would roam free.

The floor is available at MTS2... If anyone is feeling creative.

Damn it, I want a mountain destination with all the characters from Twin Peaks now! Tongue

I use Christianlov's clothing rack. You can summon townies, purchase whichever type of clothing you want - except outerwear ...
Oh, I'm sorry! I absolutely read it as underwear and really wanted to know what version you had, since I'd rather be able to change outerwear than underwear. Guess one sees what one wishes to see... Reading comprehension FTW!  Roll Eyes
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: buying clothes for non-playables, is there a better way? on: 2008 May 03, 15:43:56
Witch, does your version of the clothing rack allow to buy outerwear?
18  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You! May: Clothing Meshes of the Damned on: 2008 May 03, 15:35:19
The underwear seems to be made out of meat. What to wear under the infamous meatslab dress, eh?
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FT Food Judging Table -- Solved on: 2008 May 02, 17:24:23
Well, thank you, both of you! I didn't even *know* that the table was available in the catalogue at all! Smiley Now I have some great plans for my new community lot!
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default replacement neck issue on: 2008 May 02, 10:16:25
I change my default replacememnt skintones ever so often and I have that problem turning up every once and awhile - but only with adult males, and the problem solves itself after a while. It's very strange.

Sorry, no help from me Wink

I haven't played restaurants much because I've never had the motivation. However, is it possible to determine the menu of a restaurant? Like, if I wanted a restaurant to only serve grilled cheese, could I? If not...that's a hack I want.
You can do this with an owned restaurant-type business. Have a sim "Plan menu" on that podium thing and your Grilled Cheese restaurant will be up and running in no time!

Here's a fabulous hairdo from the exchange. I want to know if this kid really walks around with a massive bow on her head
I'd bet she does if she's one of those "Gothic Lolita"-freaks (or aspires to become one, if only as a sim). I reacted more to the fact that she seems to be the perfect incarnation of Marisa Bandett, only with MOAR eyeliner. Lots of it!

And about the unibrow: I know I had one once (in my downloads folder, please!) and I'm pretty sure I got it with this sim. I'm also pretty sure it was available for children...  Grin

Obviously disqualified since it was posted today, but I must share Completely Triangular Face Woman, modeling this purty top:
