51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Questions about landlords on: 2008 September 24, 16:15:29
I made a test neighborhood but spent too much time making my apartment building. Unfortunately, I will be away for the weekend. I will download it today and try it out for a bit though.

Could be. Its nice to have mods to keep certain characters from spawning. I am pretty careful about not playing that neighborhood until all the new mods are out too. I suppose I have an odd playing style..it takes me forever to get through each generation.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Questions about landlords on: 2008 September 23, 00:40:17
I can't wait for this mod! It will work great for a period neighborhood. I also like that the landlord can live on the lot. I have this vision of old houses split into apartments with some doddering old lady in the downstairs apartment as the landlady.

I actually prefer that the landlord has to buy the lot. Its more realistic. Also, is there someway the landlord can be charged a maintenance fee or something for maintaining the building? Of course, I could always do that through other hacks. Smiley

Thank!

I have a neighborhood started years ago that is still doing well and I used deleteallcharacters. I have never had any serious problems with the neighborhood. However, I have limited the growth of the neighborhood and keep townie numbers down.

That said, I now use the empty templates because I imagine that just because I have been lucky with this one neighborhood that does not mean my luck will hold out. But don't panic with your old neighborhoods unless you see problems.

These are gorgeous! I especially like the last one. Thank you!
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nanny doesn't recognise FT baby items on: 2008 March 25, 17:16:53
[Edit] Now I have the nanny painting running again, the above info is inaccurate. You have to have a baby in the cc crib for the painting to recognize. And it does not recognize cc changing table, although the prompt does ask "Is it a crib or changing table"  Roll Eyes

Lion, I use the Nanny painting in my medieval neighborhood and I can get the nanny to recognize the changing table and the potty chair as well as the crib. The trick is doing it while the baby is using these items. I usually have one of playable sims put the baby on the changing table or potty, and then click on the painting to recognize the cc. It has never failed with me and I can use every custom item out there. I have NOT tried this with the new FT crib as I haven't played that neighborhood. However, I do have a family about to have a baby who I will try this with. They are my only nanny family in this particular neighborhood.

I didn't get the pop up box either for the children.
58  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Default Medieval Townies & Base Game NPC's for all. on: 2008 January 21, 07:57:45
I have been enjoying the townies from your template in my medieval challenge. I did get a lot of characters not in medieval clothing but that might have been my fault...not sure what I did wrong. One thing..I put in always wear casual wear thinking that I could change the clothing of the NPCs...but then I realized too late that you probably changed their clothing. There are a few others that don't appear to be townies..I actually think they are Bon Voyage tourist but why they are showing up in the neighborhood..who knows.

59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods? on: 2007 September 16, 17:56:07
There have been many reports about the room service not working. The bell hop pulls out the food from under the desk and it vanishes into thin air. I have this problem too. It seems to work maybe the first time you arrive in a hotel but then stop working after that. I have used All In One in the past, but I took it out before I installed BV. Room service worked fine at first and now does not and I do not have All in One in my folder. So I am not convinced that All in One is the culprit here. On other boards, that is a lot of discussion about this and I do not believe all of those posters use All in One.

Great idea! Did you set the house as a business or a community lot? You said you bought it so I am assuming you bought it as a business. I believe there is a bug that does not allow businesses or community lots to change seasons so that might be why the seasons did not change. If you want them to change, you could try SimWardrobe's vase that allows you to change the weather. I don't think Sims age on business lots anyway, even in the regular neighborhood but I could be wrong.

I checked out the three finished face templates and they are gorgeous! I can't wait for the rest. Thank you!
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request: More autonomous arguing! on: 2006 December 01, 20:38:46
Ooo, I like this idea. ACR has been a great deal of fun for me but having them fight autonomously would add even more. I think I have a tendency to micromanage too much...probably because they don't do anything otherwise! Anything that would give the Sims real personalities would help the game.
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 17, 03:11:38
I don't really like the feminine males. I only download ones that look at least a little more rugged..but then that is my personal taste. I have never really been interested in pretty boys. Give me a guy with a few wrinkles and a 4 o'clock shadow and I am happy. Smiley
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I had a toddler eat from dog bowl. on: 2006 November 04, 22:46:38
I remember when my hubby and I first married I was absolutely disgusted when my little niece ate dog food from the bowl and grandma's house. Years later, my own toddler did the same thing at my house and somehow, it no longer disturbs me. Smiley Its very realistic and love those little 'real' treats that the Sims 2 gives us. I also loved it when my Sims 2 cat ate food off the counter...Exactly like my real life cat!
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: multiple layers in pets -- will it cause problems later on ... on: 2006 October 28, 19:36:12
Your pets are wonderful! I have a red Aby and your version is so much better than the Maxis version. I tried creating one and its fine but not as good as yours. I also made a copy of my gray Siberian kitty and I like the way that one turned out. Smiley  Thank you for making yours available for our use.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another Graphics Card question.... on: 2006 March 31, 23:01:00
I have a Geforce 6800 GT and I am having crashing problems as well. I get the weird blue screen with the hour glass that turns and then goes back to the game, eventually crashing. I am considering a new card as well but I don't know what to get that won't have problems. Any recommendations? Might help both of us.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professors crash the game, OFB, anyone else? on: 2006 March 26, 20:13:58
I don't know if this will help you but I also have a Geforce 6800. I discovered that these cards cause overheating sometimes. I pulled my computer out of its niche in my desk and vacuumed out a lot of dust (and cat hair). I have not had a problem since them. I do have this graphical jittering and I have to occassionally go to the neighborhood screen and back into the lot but no crashes. I have 4 fans on my case so never thought it was overheating. I also checked the temperture and did not get a warning..so I was surprised when this turned out to be the problem.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help needed - coffee or bar business at home on: 2006 March 19, 02:34:26
I have a coffee bar I downloaded from MTS2 that is hacked for residential. I can assign a barista to the coffee bar. Customers use it all the time. I have not tried a coffee bar on a community lot yet. Now my bars and bartenders are a different story...I have seen one Sim use the bar. Otherwise, the bartender is sort of a waste of money.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BBC Climate Change Experiment. on: 2006 February 28, 02:50:25
I think it is a good idea to read various views. However, do not forget that every reputable scientist out there agrees global warming is occurring on our planet and that it is affected by pollution and CO2 output from the burning of fossil fuels. Please go out there and read some papers by real scientists.

I read Crichton's novel and I enjoyed it as a novel. It also spurred me to read some of his resources. However, many of those resources were funded by OIL and ENERGY companies or by government agencies whose agenda was to support the oil and energy agencies.

I have a master's degree in geology and my thesis involved a climatic study. I know there are cyclic climate changes that have nothing to do with global warming...and the scientists who study climatic changes know this too. They have already calculated sunspots and various other affects into their calculations.  I do not think the increased hurricanes in Florida have anything to do directly with global warming...they are simply a 20 year cycle that has always occurred in the Atlantic hurricanes. But I cannot say for certain that the affects of global warming won't affect the intensity or duration of this cycle.

Unfortunately for us, climatic data is only available for the last 150 years and much of that time it is very spotty and not collected in many locations. However, while global warming may not have the effects you see in the movies, it will certainly have some affects on us in more subtle ways and if we are not careful, it could get worse. So please...read Crichton with a critical eye...and read the scientific papers too before you come to any conclusions. I had a great deal of respect for Crichton as a novelist but when he started traveling and meeting with government officials and speaking out as if he were an expert, my opinions changed somewhat. I do think he has an agenda...in spite of what he says.  I tend to trust BBC myself because I think they are not as 'controlled' by the interests of big business and government as other media outlets. I am going to present a film called Global Warming: The Science and the Signs, next week at a public forum. It is a PBS film and I am looking foward to seeing the reaction from people in my community. I live in Florida and I think people here are eager to learn more.
