Flagrant system error while my Sim was gardening:

Since installing Ambitions/new patch, I haven't been able to have my Sim excavate anything. They complain of a routing failure, even if they're standing right next to it.
78 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 08, 01:50:47
I noticed today that I can no longer click on a sim's picture in order to call them-- I have to use the cellphone and "call sim" interaction. Pretty annoying.

That's weird. I can still do that with Ambitions.
79 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Death AND Destruction! Meteor Strike on: 2010 June 06, 20:21:51
My Sim was killed by one right after she came back from an awards ceremony, but she had the death flower so she lived. She lost her moodlet for being the town hero though. I was disappointed that the meteor didn't stay behind, actually.

You can get gigantic meteor rocks now sometimes with the Miner created by the inventor bench.

There's unintended consequences, and then UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES.

Time Travel is nega-borked, in the sense that instead of being borked as expected, it is pretty nice. They even avoided the question of changing history with a "Keeper of Time" who jumps out of time portals to tackle you before you have the chance. One tag references the civil war and trying to save an important politician which freaks me out as a bit too much real world reference, but eh.

Time travel sucks ass. My Sim just got a freakin' kid out of it, due to talking to a couple that "looked familiar" and telling them how good of a couple they are. Next thing I know, she's got a child. Didn't get to pick its name, gender, whether or not I WANTED a damn kid...

Detonating Agnes Crumplebottom's car is pretty great - over 2000 scrap pieces, and the explosion made me happy in my pants.

Firefighting seems borked during large house fires when there are people to be saved - I had 2 people who apparently needed to be convinced, one which was a toddler and I couldn't select her to do it, and if you can't see anyone on the lot to convince to run and instead just put out the fires, the entire exercise fails and you get a bad grade at that emergency, because the game thinks you skipped it.
84 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Gardening and fertilizing on: 2009 June 25, 04:27:32
Do you know about this cross-pollination question? It's possible supposedly, to cross two plants. I wonder if he was just fertilizing one plant with the produce of another... he claims to be a gardening badass who knows his stuff and is writing a guide (haven't seen it yet).

I don't think that's true. I've had my Sims do tons of gardening constantly, and I've never once seen any plant bear anything other than the sort of plant it is - with the obvious exception of the omni plant.
85 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Gardening and fertilizing on: 2009 June 23, 04:04:19
You read wrong about the soil, there's no dry or wet. As for the automatic sprinklers, they work automatically from 4-7 am, and there is no night option.
86 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Novels - A Guide on: 2009 June 22, 10:54:32
How does one gain the ability to write a Childrens novel?

I believe by having a certain level of painting skill - level 4 or possibly 5.

Level 4. Or by having the childish and/or playful traits.
87 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How to trigger gardening opportunity? Is there a mod to improve the chance? on: 2009 June 20, 12:39:46
im going insane waiting for the gardening opportunities to come, is there a mod to improve the chance so a sim can actually get it before he have to eat his 100th meal of ambrosia to stay alive?

Join the culinary career. That seems to trigger it, I've found. Otherwise, just make sure your Sim is getting out in the neighbourhood and interacting with his neighbours. Meeting people in the neighbourhood is vital to having opportunities come your way.

When you master the guitar skill you get a certificate.

When you master any skill you get a certificate. That's not news.

In the military career, you get a new interaction under friendly, "salute". It's cute.
89 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Blank Inventory Slot & Gem Stacking on: 2009 June 19, 03:18:37
Warning!! Using purgeinventory removes the ability to use their cell phone.

No, it doesn't. My Sim is perfectly able to use her cell phone after I used this.
90 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: WTF? Thief stole my Unusual Dukeadite Zucabr w/ No Alarm on: 2009 June 17, 20:44:04
Have you tried putting the alarm outside? That used to be a mainstay for me in TS2, but I haven't tested yet for TS3. I'll see if I can't get a burglar. In four generations, I've only had two robberies.

Alarms work great outside in TS3.
91 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Blank Inventory Slot & Gem Stacking on: 2009 June 17, 20:42:11
Beepers are lost, and they do not regen either when you go back to work or next get promoted. At least that's what happened with the cop beeper.
92 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Blank Inventory Slot & Gem Stacking on: 2009 June 17, 08:55:53
As I just finished doing this, I can confirm it works.

Delete it from the launcher.
94 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Wishes that don't fulfill on: 2009 June 15, 00:28:52
Don't read the compositions - that completely fucks it up. Keep them in your Sim's inventory, and when they're at the proper level to learn it, click it and choose Learn Song. And now that you've read it, I don't believe there's any way to go back and learn the song properly. I learned the hard way, obviously.
95 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Removing multiple items from inventory on: 2009 June 15, 00:27:22
What trait(s) does a Sim need in order to harvest trash bins? None of mine have ever been able to do it.
Does the Sim need to be at a neighbor's house?

They need to not be neat Sims (or else in journalism, maybe law enforcement?) and at any occupied residential property except their own.
96 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: House move fail on: 2009 June 15, 00:20:52
Move him back into the trailer lot, put the stuff in his family inventory (are you sure it didn't place copies in the family inventory?) and then move back out.
97 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hidden Items on: 2009 June 14, 06:01:46
My Master thief Sim didn't get a fox statue. She got a couple of stupid paintings on different heists, but they were lame.

And stop signing your posts. That might help your sound issues too.
99 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stupid Opportuni-teez on: 2009 June 13, 12:57:24
I think you need to first plant using the omni plant from the science center. My sim did that and right afterwards got the challenge for the seeds.

Coincidence. Not true.

100 TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Are there ways to die accidently in criminal career track? on: 2009 June 13, 12:26:25
No they definitely can't be used in food. My impression was that they were solely a replacement for being an accidental death victim. But I know for sure two are gone. Weird.
