TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: File Management - renaming files, meshes and FBVFOS
|

I was trying to sort my downloads a lazyish way (packaging sims with the stuff I wanted, doing a mass delete and adding it back in), and meshes don't get packaged... it's a right pain... :-/
I've been doing the same, hadn't spotted the mesh problem though - Oops and thanks for the warning You're welcome - I checked with one package before going all out and doing the lot. As it is I've found a lot of the meshed stuff (all hairstyles, some clothes) that I want to keep and redownloaded them, so now I can implement a more organised downloads folder, I just don't have time to do it yet

Thanks for the input Renatus much appreciated. 1. Can you rename a package file? Will the game care? Does it matter if it's a texture for a mesh/mesh for a texture? Will this cause a FBVFOS?... Maybe someone else would have a more definitive answer (either Pescado, or probably Motoki would know ). Hmm, okie doke. Will ask. 2. There's no way to tell which file is what mesh-file right? Because stupid people don't label them correctly? Packaging a sim does not include the mesh-file, right? Er... I don't know this one either since I don't really use meshes... and by "stupid people" do you mean the people who created the meshes in the first place? Or people who packaged the sim? I thought that packaging a sim "in game" would also pull in the mesh... By stupid people I meant whoever is responsible for the pointlessly inadequet filename... whoever that may be. They are only stupid for that reason as far as I'm aware - I probably love the meshes, I'd just love to know what they are. I was trying to sort my downloads a lazyish way (packaging sims with the stuff I wanted, doing a mass delete and adding it back in), and meshes don't get packaged... it's a right pain... :-/ Will bear the hack information in mind - thanks I don't think I have any that come under that umbrella at the moment though. I don't know if that also deletes them from the SavedSims folder, but I imagine it does. *shrugs* Deleting from bodyshop does it seems. Thanks for that info also You were help This is stuff I needed to know.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / File Management - renaming files, meshes and FBVFOS (new question)

I had a look around and whilst some of my questions got answered, I have more, and for some reason am not willing to take Database's word for it Also added a couple of curiosities... 1. Can you rename a package file? Will the game care? Does it matter if it's a texture for a mesh/mesh for a texture? Will this cause a FBVFOS? 2. There's no way to tell which file is what mesh-file right? Because stupid people don't label them correctly? Packaging a sim does not include the mesh-file, right? 3. With Nightlife, you can put anything in subfolders, ANYTHING?!4. All Kewians need stomping 5. How do you organise your downloads? 6. Can you rename saved sims stupid long number names or are they stuck like that forevermore? 7. Deleting stuff just results in blue static? 8. Terrains = death. Thanks

Maxis CLAIMS that with the patch for Uni/Nightlife that they have upped the limit of sims for neighborhoods to remain stable. I do not know if it is true...and what the new limit is suppose to be now. According to MaxisHunter they are now unable to recreate the Final Exam bug...and the Dead/Elder bug...since the patch. Again I do not know how true this is. Does anyone know?
Would like confirmation of this also...

Anyone else notice that they didn't stick all the holiday objects in a "collections" folder. You would have thought since they did with the NL and Uni stuff, and some other random things... but no. That would have been useful - and yes I did it myself in the end. But I don't know, that bugged me.

I used it once I think... I never really thought about it before now, sounds like I should be using it.
I also need to practice with the scored outings, I think I had a couple of ok ones. If I remember rightly - social interaction is the key?
I think I'll go play the game...

I forgot about it until just now in my perusal of one of the sims communities over at livejournal. There are santa screenshots here for anyone interested.

Well that's what the A-level art course was like - you have to be able to justify everything, same goes for my Interactive Design - why did you choose this font? Why did you put that image there? Because it looks good isn't a good enough reason on its own, it has to have depth...

Tracy Emin...She is one hell of a weird artist, I'm not very fond of her stuff. However, what you said ZZ - art is a point of view, really it boils down to the fact that art is an expression. (I do wish that the A-level art coursework we had required something as easy as this though )

Thanks a lot, I'll get it when I have the spare cash! (I never buy in the shops now, for the same reason. When I got the original sims2 from Amazon, it wss miles cheaper than the shops! and even with the free delivery (2nd class) it only took 2 days to arrive (one really, as I ordered it on a sunday and it arrived on the Tuesday!
I just wish supermarket ordering was cheaper, instead of that £5 delivery charge! Then I might use that too!
I used free delivery and got it and NL on the day it was released, university one day later. I was very impressed, and I do like Amazon a lot. I've had to quit though, I get too click happy in the books section

Oh and I have no idea if the patch caused this or its just some odd coincidence, but I just had the cow mascot barge into a home in my regular neighborhood and I've never had that happen before. Could very well be some totally unrelated fluke, but if anyone else has this happen after patching please post and let me know.
It's happened to me before. Fluke.
