That happened to me once when my legacy family hosted a party at a community lot. The guests arrived in a bundle like that, I directed various family members to interact with each guest individually, and they disentangled themselves. That 'hood is glitchy though, I often get Flagrant System Errors in it so I quit playing it mostly.

To explain what Pescado meant, as you seem to have no clue about these things: check the ESRB rating of the game. If your child is under the age specified, s/he should probably not be playing that game. The reasons for age limits are also given; you as parent may see fit to disregard them for whatever reason. However, if your child is a teen, they should be asking questions by now. If your child is not yet a teen, there are lots of other games for your child/ren to play that are age-suitable if you don't want those questions just yet.

I am having a random crash to desktop and I suspect it is either hardware or Windows. I am trying various configurations of hardware at the moment, as I have just put in a new graphics card and extra RAMS.

Firstly, you need to be 18 or over to register on this site. The reason for this is that the site owner thinks that people your age are stupid and does not LIKE people asking stupid questions. Why don't you go ask your questions on the EA site?
Secondly, you might want to reconsider doxing yourself.

I hate toy boxes, so I tend to buy them to satisfy a wish and then delete the box. Each child in a family gets one toy and one teddy in its inventory at birth. Extra toys can make realistic playroom decor when placed on dressers or end tables.

Toddlers tend to get carried around to be fed as well. Clearly toddlers require some minimum space for their activities. A solution is to have a toddler bedroom be only sufficient for the crib, with a larger area adjacent for play, feeding etc.

If you create a sim in CAS when you get that that glitch, you can play it/them just fine except that the game thinks that (a) your missing sims are DEAD and (b) your new sims are on vacation. It sends the new ones back to the base neighbourhood after the vacation time expires, to the lot your missing sims lived on, and the new sim/s will have a "witnessed death" moodlet in respect of the missing ones although of course they never met. It's actually really funny, but probably isn't that great for the game.
So if you want to ever see your missing sims again, quit without saving when you get the empty live mode screen.

I got that glitch ages ago, just after WA came out, when I was playing my test neighbourhood which I subsequently deleted. I had the same glitch again last week. This time I quit without saving and tried again a few times with the same result, so I guessed it must be a glitchy household.
