1  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Pleasantview, Strangetown & Veronaville Project [UPDATED] on: 2013 November 13, 01:40:08
It would be much better to create your own using Tarlia's templates:
http://meetme2theriver.livejournal.com/63030.html

Tarlia's stuff is cleaned and fixed and uses the in-game method for attaching subhoods, which makes it less kludgy.
2  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TUTORIAL: Merging the Maxis neighborhoods. on: 2013 May 13, 16:08:27
This tutorial is now obsolete.

We have a much simpler method for creating megahoods by converting your neighborhoods to subhoods and then using the standard in-game method for attaching subhoods.

Tarlia has already done a lot of the work for you by cleaning, fixing, and converting all of the Maxis neighborhoods to subhoods.  You can download them here:
http://meetme2theriver.livejournal.com/63030.html

If you have custom neighborhoods which you want to convert to subhoods, here's the tutorial:
http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=502306

Once you have the subhoods installed, just run your game and attach the subhoods that you want.

You could try downloading them at SimsAsylum:
http://simsasylum.com/tfm/index.php?/topic/635-dizzys-mods-for-sims-2/

However, I think that Avast is going to complain no matter where you download them from.  After all, these are unofficial patches that modify your game executables... that's exactly what viruses do.

I'm afraid that I can't guarantee that they are safe.  I downloaded them from Dizzy before they disappeared from the internet and my anti-virus didn't complain at that time.

[Update:] If you'd like, I could upload just the source code and you could compile them yourself.

I was asked to supply the installation instructions for the Thumnail Hack and all versions of the hack.  Here's what I have:

Something Apartment Life added which I had wanted gone was the constant hammering on thumbnails. Eventually came a way to fix it, although not the way I would have preferred: by modifying the exe file. This is always a last resort, but it is sometimes necessary (as in this instance).

This hack modifies your no-CD cracked exe file (TSBin\Sims2EP8.exe) so make sure you back it up first! If you don't use a no-CD crack, then perhaps it's about time to start. Smiley

Note: The upx instructions only apply to the noCD for patch1 (r187).

To use the thumb3 (for r187), download thumb-old and unpack the Sims2 executable with upx (see http://upx.sourceforge.net). Copy upx.exe to the TSBin folder and perform the following in a cmd box:

upx -d Sims2EP8.exe

Then double-click on thumb3.exe.

Downloads:

thumb-old.zip = older versions of this hack: Attached File  thumb-old.zip (11.63K)
thumb3b.zip = patch for Sims2 AL + patch2 (r194): Attached File  thumb3b.zip (2.72K)
thumb3b-src.zip = source: Attached File  thumb3b-src.zip (929bytes)
thumb4.zip = patch for M&G: Attached File  thumb4.zip (2.73K)
thumb4-src.zip = source: Attached File  thumb4-src.zip (939bytes)

The attached zip file includes all of these versions, plus the source code for the versions specified.
7  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Fixed Object Shadows *Work In Progress* Update 5 on: 2012 December 20, 21:50:21
Those two files are actually one RAR, split into two sections so that they could be uploaded to the site.  RAR will combine the two files before extracting.  If you extracted from both files, then you should have two identical sets (although I actually got an error when I tried to extract from part 2).  You can verify this using the "fc /b" command line program.

In other words, just extract from part 1 and put the results in your Downloads folder.

Try clearing your cache files.
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Character Portraits on: 2012 June 19, 15:35:17
Which link are you having problems with?

The M&G link in the post immediately above yours works just fine.  I just downloaded it and extracted the EXE without any problem.

At that point, you just backup your old Sims2EP9.exe (rename it to Sims2EP9.bkp), and add the new EXE to that folder.  You'll be using the new EXE to run the game.

If you are using the launcher to run the game, you'll have to fix your shortcut to run directly from the game EXE instead.  Here are some instructions on how to do that:

You can also try the Hack Conflict Detection Utility from http://simwardrobe.com/
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can anyone help with error log? on: 2012 March 07, 17:00:45
No, no one can help you with this.  That's a crash log and is only useful if you have the source code for the game.

There are several options:
- You have bad CC.
- You have a bad save game.
- You have a bad game installation.
- You have a problem with your computer: underpowered, old or bad drivers, overheating, etc.

Go through each of these and try to narrow down the problem.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recategorising a necklace on: 2012 January 31, 16:35:27
I already did use it, and read the guide, but it still wont work, I loaded the file that contains the necklace, the file was originally a sims2pack from the exchange, that I installed using sims2pack Clean Installer, so should I edit the package before installing it or after installing it?

Looks like it's time for the lesson on punctuation.  Wink
13  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: New concave piece for pools? on: 2011 December 31, 18:29:57
This is TS3, only stbl entries have guids.

Surely, this is Sims 2?
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I broke the apt. door. on: 2011 October 01, 15:35:30
You could try copying the objects.package from your CD / DVD / RAR / etc. and replacing the corrupted objects.package in your installation location.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Installing in New Machine and Adding the Last EP on: 2011 September 07, 15:12:46
It would be much better to keep your EA Games Old folder.  Copy it and then rename it to EA Games.  That way, if something goes wrong, you've still got your backup and can try again.
16  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff Collections on: 2011 September 01, 15:19:41
Legally, the stuff still belongs to EA and you don't have the right to share it.
17  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lot won't install properly on: 2011 August 27, 19:10:32
Do you have CEP installed?
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: M&G jump bug - no other hacks or CC on: 2011 August 04, 01:36:27
Install order doesn't matter.  If you have both AL and M&G, then this is not the correct solution to your problem.  This is only a solution if you have M&G without AL.

So is this just a game bug?

No, that's incorrect.  The original issue was not a game bug, but an issue with the mod.  You posted in someone else's thread, assuming that their problem was your problem.  However, their problem was an issue with a mod which only occurs if someone has M&G and not AL.  If you have both AL and M&G, your problem cannot possibly be the same problem.  Because of this, it doesn't make sense to implement the solution to their problem.

Similar symptoms don't necessarily mean that you have the same problem.
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: M&G jump bug - no other hacks or CC on: 2011 August 03, 03:44:33
Find the BHAV with the number specified.  Edit it  Choose node 5.  The Pescado Delete button is on the right side; hover over the icons until you find it.

Be aware that this can cause problems if you don't do it correctly.

20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Unsetting "Read Only" Files in Win 7 on: 2011 June 17, 19:43:22
If you avoid installing things into the Program Files folder, you can avoid some of that foolishness.  Microsoft has decided that Program Files should never be touched by human hands.
21  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean Uberhood (Merged EAxis neighbourhoods) - NOT the same as HP's/Mixreality's on: 2011 June 15, 02:58:56
Tarlia, did you try converting Belladonna Cove to a suburb, rather than a downtown?  If so, did you run into any special problems with OFB that didn't occur with Nightlife?
22  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean Uberhood (Merged EAxis neighbourhoods) - NOT the same as HP's/Mixreality's on: 2011 June 13, 22:20:17
I've noticed that Downtowns are special.  Only the first Downtown installed will have sims.  Additional Downtowns will be unpopulated.
23  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean Uberhood (Merged EAxis neighbourhoods) - NOT the same as HP's/Mixreality's on: 2011 May 25, 00:08:00
I'm curious.  Why do your newest cleaned versions of Pleasantview, Strangetown, and Veronaville require University or Nightlife?
24  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: List of Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. on: 2011 May 14, 16:28:31
The templates are only used when your save game has no Neighborhoods folder.  As long as you already have neighborhoods, the game assumes that you want to keep them as they are.
25  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: List of Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. on: 2011 May 08, 04:48:20
Sorry about the necro, but I have one stupid, on-topic question and I can't find the answer in any of the several threads and tutorials (been searching for the past two hours): when installing a clean template, do I, or do I not, delete the contents of the Lots folders?

Do not delete the contents of the Lot folder.
