76  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's in YOUR Downloads? on: 2007 December 21, 02:08:27
I've been using Jordi's inteenimated versions of no20khandouts and a few others, but I am seriously considering ditching the kitten killer so I'll go back to using the FFS versions of those hacks. If you care the reason that I've been reluctant to part with the kitten killer is because I really want to find a standalone miscarriage hack, but I haven't seen one anywhere. Yes, I know I'm not supposed to use noinstantlove with the kitten killer; that is part of why I'm dropping the kitten killer, actually. The complete list of the FFS hacks that I use is attached. I sort my objects separately, but I can list those pretty easily, I have kick the cheat, the LS objects, the fruitbowl, your version of the tanning bed, and the thinkingcap and noodlesoother stands.
77  Ye Olde Simmes 2 Archives: Dead Creators / Ye Olde Syberspunke Archives / Re: Testers Wanted: Teen Enabled Adult Wants and Woohoo Wants (Updated 9/10/2007) on: 2007 December 18, 05:56:42
I know that this is probably too much to ask, but you probably know that Pescado has posted a proof of concept want-tree-impacting hack that doesn't touch core files. The idea is that you could have more than one want tree type hack in at once, which would be glorious. I was wondering if you might be able to make the woohoo wants appear for teens using the method that Pescado used in moarfight (which can be found in the test directory if you haven't seen it yet) instead of modifying the want tree. I'm going to use your hack either way, but I'd love it even more if it is possible to implement it in a less invasive way. I know, I know, you're probably sick of me harassing you and asking you a million questions, but I only do it because I love your hacks so much. Please take it for the compliment that it is and don't hate me. Wink
78  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Phones not working -- actions dropped since BV on: 2007 December 18, 04:18:47
It sounds to me like the phone hack was still in your downloads folder when you installed. Remove your entire downloads folder, uninstall BV, reinstall, and then try on a throwaway lot. If everything looks okay, put your downloads back, with the new versions of the hacks. You also will want to scan through your folder with clean installer to look for duplicates or outdated hacks.

Why would an uninstall/reinstall be necessary for something that is so clearly a hack problem? That just seems like extra work for no real reason.

@qvcatullus: For future reference the best method (in my humble opinion) when installing a new EP is to remove the TS2 folder from my docs entirely (by dragging it to the desktop) or renaming it. I change mine to "Not The Sims 2". A fresh folder gets created, thus when I start a new EP I am always absolutely certain that my game is hack free. I test for awhile using the maxis default hoods before I drag my N00X folders from "Not The Sims 2" into the appropriate area of "The Sims 2" folder. Then I download the newer versions of the hacks and as I do so I delete the old ones from my "Not The Sims 2" downloads folder. This way I can see what I used to have so that I won't forget any hacks that I wanted. I drag all of the CC that doesn't need updates (bodyshop stuff, most objects) right back in so that I don't have to hunt them down again. This time you should do your best to really organize your downloads. I subfolder them by type and then by creator. For example, I have a folder for hacks and inside of that I have a folder for JMPescado, TwoJeffs, Syberspunk etc. I have a folder for clothing and inside of that I have a folder for AllAboutStyle, MTS2 creators (with subfolders for each creator), Nouk etc. This will save your sanity in the long run.
You can find the Bon Voyage director's cut here.

Argon created something to unhide the Maxis alien archetype face in CAS/body shop. You can find it here. I think that you could probably use this as a starting point for creating your pollination tech.
81  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Lot Sync Timer: All BlueSoups Suck Edition on: 2007 December 11, 06:00:11
If you turn on clickable neighbors and visible neighbors you can just click the lot you want and it will give you the option to start playing that lot. I can't remember which EP this came with, though.
82  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Expansion Packs (and whether to use them or not) on: 2007 December 09, 07:15:45
Max All Skills will not fill properly if the last skillpoint is gained by buggy means. Some methods of skillpoint gain don't "count" correctly, so if you gain the skillpoint by one of those methods (click-and-drag, Insim, etc., as well as maybe a few legit Maxis methods), it will not "fire", and you will first have to lose that skillpoint and then regain it.

I have all of the EPs, so I've never had this problem. But, according to the post that I linked Cwykes didn't cheat the last point, and she tried multiple times by making the sim lose the point and then regain it (again without cheating) without attaining a memory or getting permaplat. But since I've never seen this I obviously can't verify any of it.
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Expansion Packs (and whether to use them or not) on: 2007 December 08, 19:01:42
I think that Cwykes meant unachievable LTWs. I did a search for cwykes' previous posts and "LTW" and found this. Basically she got the wants that uni added but even if a sim achieved them it didn't permaplat them and they never got the memory for it. The borken wants include "earn 100k" and "max 7 skills".
84  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I took the Garden Club Lady on vacation, and other disasters on: 2007 December 04, 05:59:59
The only problem I have left is that the campground is unplayable since it thinks that there are still sims there. Is there some way to get that lot working again? Do I need to bulldoze it and try to build one of my own? Would anything unfortunate occur if I were to move the lot into the lot bin and then put it back? Would that even do anything? It doesn't really have anyone on it; it just thinks that it does. I was able to enter the lot (in F2 mode) to add the lot debugger, etc, but I could not send a sim there at all. I have, admittedly, not tried every possible way to get someone to that lot yet and I probably will before I do anything drastic. But in the meanwhile, is there a good way (or a cheaty way) to get this lot working again?

I blatantly stole this idea from Pescado, so don't thank me. First you'd bulldoze the borken lot. Next you should create a junk hood and attach the mountain vacationhood. Rip the new campground lot out and make a copy to transplant into your real vacationhood. Tah dah!

I'm sorry to nitpick, but some of you (I'm looking at you snowbawl) have neglected to rehost images from MTS2. MTS2 is a great free site and by direct linking the images you are using their bandwidth and costing them money, which is a VBT. These contests are a LOT of fun and it's great to make fun of the shit stuff, but we all know that there is good stuff on MTS2 as well. Doing this shit is part of what makes MTS2 run so freaking slowly. Please save the images into your photobucket or image hosting website of your choice and fix the links in your posts.

Of course, we should always direct link from paysites because obviously paysites must be destroyed.

Ummm... Those pics came from spiffysims.com.  And the images are in my botophuckit account.  Thank you and have a good night.

Edit:  If anyone cares, I flipped the pics from spiffysims to photoshop, cropped, saved as jpeg, uploaded to my image hosting site, and posted here.

I'm sorry! My mistake. I don't know why your name popped into my head when I was typing that. I guess I lost track of which posters rehosted and which ones didn't, probably because I reworded that post about 40 times before I posted it.

ETA the 2nd direct question: Is there a debug cheat to move someone into your house whether the game thinks that you should or not?

Yes; you can select "add neighbor to family" from the tombstone of L&D and then select the name of the missing sim. Or you could use Inge's teleporter shrub.

It does no good?? My ass! If I go away nice and complacent, the way you clerks want me to act, the corp. wins. SO you clerks lose if I throw a fit? So what? it's your job. ANd if only the manager can help us then that manager needs to be onsite all the time any customers are.

The only time that I've ever worked in retail was for my college book store (I got a great discount on my books so I did it for two weeks at the beginning of each term). I never had to deal with irate customers there, probably because at such a small college everyone knows each other which makes people a bit more compassionate toward the staff. I have, however, worked extensively in food service. One time I was waiting on a couple and the man got really mad because we no longer sold onion rings. I told him that I LOVE onion rings and that I was equally disappointed to see them removed from the menu, but that it was a corporate decision and I had no say whatsoever. He didn't like this response and apparently felt that if he complained to me that I would tell someone who could do something about it. I gave him a card with the contact info for the regional manager and several other higher ups who would have the authority to change the onion ring thing, and I got my manager (who also had no influence over corporate decisions, but he gets paid a lot more than me so he gets to listen to people complain). My manager told the man that he would tell the higher ups, but that the man should also contact them since a personal customer complaint would have more of an impact. The man continued to freak out, yell, and generally make a scene for awhile before he finally left.

The only thing that his poor behavior accomplished was to influence my manager and me to tell the rest of the staff about it. We all enjoyed a good laugh at expense. In a corporate environment the people at an individual store usually have no power whatsoever. The only way to change basically anything about an individual store is to deal with the people who make the actual decisions. For example, at every restaurant that I've worked at even the music is specifically selected by the corporation. You couldn't even get the manager to change something as simple as that without corporate intervention. How can you expect that being rude to a store clerk will make her decide that you are such a special snowflake that she should go against corporate policy just for you?

That sounds like a pretty normal occasional graphical glitch. Sometimes weird things like that just happen. I wouldn't worry about it. Stuck graphic effects can sometimes be fixed by bathing a sim, or you can reset the sim by shift clicking force error and then "reset" in debug mode. Or you can just wait for an age transition. I had a child sim who blew bubbles on her first day in childhood and the bubbles followed her everywhere until she aged up to teen.

I would be really worried about playing an unpatched basegame. There are some pretty serious problems with the basegame that absolutely require the patch. IIRC an unpatched base game can result in accidentally deleted critical game data, UI/save problems, the jump bug, and the dreaded kidnapped baby issue.

There are several sets of replacement face templates that are meant to "fix" the EAxis faces. At the moment my two favorite sets are by Terrakosmos and
Selzi. Both of those posts have links to tons of other face replacement sets so you shouldn't have trouble finding one that you like.

Crammyboy's nudist hack isn't BV compatible, you need to make sure that you have the version that Blackwiddow updated for BV available here. If you had read the thread you would realize that this conflict is expected, you should just make sure that Pescado's hack loads before the nudist hack.

To learn how to get and post an error log please read the FAQ. I even linked directly to the post that has the error log info in it. You should, however, read the entire FAQ because there is a lot of valuable information there and if you don't read it all you will most likely be brutally attacked in the near future.

I don't use noforcewatchfights, but Crammyboy hasn't been around for quite some time, so that might be a problem, but I can't say either way. I do know that norandomflirsts and wfsanity are perfectly fine to use together.

I've seen problems like this reported before and the answer is usually an older-versioned hack. I cannot confirm that this is definitely your problem but you should make sure that you are using the most recent version of all of your hacks. Once you are certain that all of your hacks have been properly BV updated (if you are still having the problem) then you should try a binary search. Oh yeah, you should also try looking for hacks using clean installer because you might have a hack that piggybacked in when you downloaded a lot.
92  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: "Have a Leftover" option is gone. on: 2007 November 04, 19:52:30
Basically, the priority queues have been set this way through extensive testing: there are just so many creativity enhancers and ZERO charisma options outside of career rewards that things have to work this way to avoid a jam later. Thus, we are going to officially ignore your dumb Ness-like ideas, as it is not possible to create this without a rewrite of the logic loop, and doing so would create suboptimal results.

What benefit does maxing out charisma and logic as a toddler actually have? You only need 8 points to get a scholarship and later in life you might want the aspiration boost of maxing out a skill at a strategic moment. Once you have 8 I am not sure why you would need any more before adult life. It actually seems like a waste of time to max skills unnecessarily so early in life. I'd like to get to 8 in logic, charisma, and creativity before childhood and then focus on getting each of the other skills to 8 during the child and teen lifestages. I guess it would be help you if you want to use a sim as a sales slave because they would earn the badge a bit faster, but the sales badges aren't exactly difficult to earn even with "only" 8 charisma points. Besides, if you really want to max the skill you can always finish the last two when a sim is a teenager without any negative consequences (except for the slightly lower badge gain rate, but what difference does it make? We always end up complaining that our sims get boring after they have learned anything so why not let it take a bit longer?). What kind of "jam" is a child with 8 charisma points really going to get into?

That said it isn't such a big deal to pop the rabbit head into a sim's inventory or delete it to force the toddler to skill on something else once they've hit 8. I guess it could get annoying after awhile. This isn't something that has ever bothered me, but I can understand where Ness is coming from.
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No NPC Spawner options in Pie Menu on: 2007 November 04, 08:17:39
An easier option would be to shift click on the mailbox and select debug force create townies. It will give you 30 townies. The way that you worded your initial post also made me wonder what exactly you were looking for. The option that you get when you shift click on a sim in debug mode would be spawn/NPC and townie maker. Post BV that will spawn a repo man gun instead of the dead tree. As for clearing sims off using Inge's teleporter there is an option that says "clear off all non residents".

For those who wish to download it Paleoanth already posted it.  Here is the thread, and here is the direct link to his/her rapidshare. Since rapidshare is a piece of crap that wants you to wait for the privilege of downloading from them I have uploaded it to my 4shared account. I checked the forum and I can verify that this is the most recent version. I assume that most MATY members will already know that this is an unreleased program that is still being tested so it will run slowly, act wonky at times, and potentially destroy your hood/sim or melt your brain. I am also certain that it is obvious to everyone that one should back up one's hood before using the QA version.

Edit: Updated link to SimPE QA version .63h
Edit: Removed links to QA version. Real version is now available on the official simPE site.
96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage Woohoo Memories on: 2007 October 28, 05:54:31
My post was meant (mostly) in humor.

I have tried Sux McNutty's shower.  I don't want to be critical of somebody else's work, but I had some issues with it.  It seemed to cause some crashes, possibly related to the ambitious attempts to change want-trees and memories.  I had to remove it when I upgraded to BV and haven't put it back.  The explicit animations lost their appeal very quickly and, after that, there was no game-related reason to do it again.  They were very long and mechanical looking.

I do like the clothing-booth approach.  It's noisy, has a flashy animation, and leaves something to the imagination.

To be honest, I've never used it. I've heard a lot of things along those lines, and I've had problems with Hunter's work before, so I decided not to give the shower a try. Although, I do think that the idea itself is pretty neat. If someone were to make and properly support a similar hacked object then I would most likely use it. So, I guess I got a bit hopeful that you might get inspired. Smiley
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage Woohoo Memories on: 2007 October 27, 19:04:31
Personally, I don't think my Sims can Woohoo in enough places.  What about "WooHoo in the Shower?"  I think everybody has been waiting breathlessly for that one.  I tried to make a Shower Woohoo mod once, but failed catastrophically because I know next to nothing about Slot resources.  The two Sims could get in and shower in the same stall, but when the first one exited, the game crashed.

Basically all that needs to be done (I think) is change the Slotting so that two Sims can use the shower at the same time.  Then activate the Make-Out animation or the Changing Booth animation and you're done.  Seems easy, but what do I know.

You might already be aware of the Sux McNutty Sinful Shower hacked object by hunter240x. It's pretty comprehensive, it includes many positions, custom animations, and options.
The comments seem to indicate that it will work with BV, but I don't think that hunter is still updating it. If you don't find the mod to handle everything that you want in a satisfactory way then maybe he would be willing to let you rip apart the code for your own use?

  Roll Eyes

Wow – ya know I know that you’re pretty much taking a huge chance of being ridiculed if you even attempt to post at MATY, and I’m willing to accept the basic anal attitude that I may encounter due to my post, simply because MATY is well known to have the best minds when it comes to game glitches.

Had I even once suspected that it was an issue with Inteen – I would have posted this question where Jase could have the chance of seeing it and helping me determine if it was a unique glitch surrounding the Inteen. But I’m pretty much positive that it’s not hack related, as the issue occurs with and without hacks installed. I’m not a complete moron who doesn’t understand that a hack by its very nature changes how the game works which can produce unwanted results.

My rant wasn't aimed at poking you. I was actually complaining that the general attitude at MATY is that most problems lead back to inteen. It makes me mad because some inteen users aren't total morons, (and I didn't say that you are a moron, and I'm not saying it now. At worst I said that you might have behaved foolishly) yet the assumption at MATY is often that those of us who kill kittens are stupid for doing so. Really, my rant had almost nothing to do with you at all. It's just been something that has slowly brewed entirely inside my own mind for awhile. For some reason jolrei's post rubbed me the wrong way and my rant finally spilled out into the public eye. I know that Jolrei's intent was most likely not to say that all problems root back to the kitten killer, but he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Plus I'm kind of a socially inept spaz, so I tend to blurt things like this out at the wrong moment.
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and the adoption pool on: 2007 October 25, 18:23:34
Let's see now.  Trouble adopting, which is related to kids, family additions, etc.  Could the problem be (ominous music) THE KITTEN KILLER?

Not a sure thing, but you might test this.  Wouldn't be the first time that Inteen caused unforeseen problems.

To be fair about 99.9% of all problems with the kitten killer are either user error or the program working as intended and advertised by it's own documentation. An example of the former would be a hack conflict (the biggest culprit for inteen related problems). An example of the second would be "ZOMg my sim just had a miscarriage!" which would be one of the program's normal functions (if your sim has certain low motives then it is randomly determined if she will miscarry. A flavorpack is available for nomiscarriage for those who prefer less risk).

The point is that some of us carefully manage and organize our downloads folders. Some of us carefully read documentation. Some of us are not total fucking morons, and we realize that such a large and invasive hack must be handled in a certain way. For example, before you go around asking for help you should first remove said program and see if your problem persists. If it doesn't then you should reread the documentation to make sure that it is, in fact, a bug (not a feature), to see if it is a known bug with a specific workaround, and to see if you have a hack specifically known to make the game go wonky. If you've done this then you should submit a bug report to Jase (not MATY, duh). If this sounds like too much work then one shouldn't use the mod at all. If the OP has done this stuff and is certain that the kitten killer is not the culprit then she probably should have mentioned it. If she hasn't then she behaved foolishly.

That said, I have never had a problem that  I could trace back to the kitten killer. If I did find that it was causing a problem in my game I'd report it to Jase, not here. I am not the most polite person in the world, but I know better than to ask MATY members to solve/diagnose a problem with someone else's work. Of course, I also think that it is important for me to do most of the detective work myself before reporting problems (I've saved myself from humiliation once or twice thanks to searching here for keywords related to errors I've experienced). That is probably because I'm not an idiot.

My point? I'm sorry, but I'm just sick of being lumped in with the morons who don't know how to manage their hacks properly. And maybe some of us like being of questionable moral fiber and simulating the horrors of consensual sex between teenagers (and perhaps the larger issue of expecting them to cope with the consequences of said act. That's the really offensive part, right?) but that doesn't mean that we are ALL stupid (although the majority of humanity in general is probably stupid, so it would be fair to say that most kitten killer users are probably stupid and probably don't follow these steps).

Ok, I think I'm done ranting now. Uh, sorry about this, but it has been bugging me for awhile.
100  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Where the fuck is the game pulling this character from? on: 2007 October 25, 17:52:35
can't answer your question either....  so why am I posting? .....
If you're going to make townies/downtownies etc, I'd say forget the NPC maker.  Make a houseful of sims in cas and use Inge's teleporter shrub to convert them into townies/downtownies. That way you get what you want.

If you're like me what you want is moar randomness. I feel that when I make CAS sims I tend to let my own preferences get involved, and that's a bad thing, IMO. So I make them with the help of Hook's randomizer. I have it set up to pick gender, name, age group, face template, turn ons, turn offs, and aspiration. It also gives me a random number which helps me select eye and hair color (I do this the lazy way, the random number is how many times I must reroll the sim and then I get the hair and eye color they randomly rolled up. The number is between 1 and 10 so that I don't spend all day rerolling. But with the number of eye colors I have it would be a pain in the ass to do it any other way, IMO). I also roll yes/no for hair from the custom bin, although I don't have them change from their natural color until I get to my townie teleport lot (so that they aren't genetically FUBARed).  Yeah, its a lot of effort but I've gotten some really great results this way. I batch created all of my townies in my current favorite hood but I've created all of the vacation locals and dormies using this method (well, the vacation locals were given faces that match their reigon rather than random templates, of course). In my next hood I think I'll CAS create everyone but the NPCs.
