26  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Two questions on: 2008 March 23, 05:36:21
One of my graves disappeared randomly as well. The only thing I could attribute it to was that I'd been messing about with the Lot Debugger and SimPE to delete some character files. I'm pretty sure I didn't accidently delete the actual sim's character file though because he is still on the family tree and all his family remember him, nevertheless his grave is gone and there doesn't appear to be any option to respawn it either. This probably isn't helpful to you, unless you have been messing about in SimPE, but I'd like to know what causes it as well because I don't particularly want other graves disappearing.

To get the option to respawn the gravestone you need to pause the game, summon the ghost to the lot, and then make the ghost selectable, then use the ghost to click on the debugger where you should find the option to spawn the gravestone. Select that option, then make the ghost unselectable again and then unpause.
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims Can't Go Home! on: 2008 March 19, 23:08:00
I'm pretty sure that Tchan was talking about owned business lots that the playable sim owns.
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best way to completely nuke unwanted babies? on: 2008 March 16, 17:42:17
HP is absolutely right, you're not supposed to delete sims from the sim bin because EA can't seem to do anything right and this method doesn't delete the sims properly; it leaves behind bits and pieces which can be potentially harmful to your hood. I'm pretty sure that this is a big part of why Pes even bothered to create the Deleted 2 tutorial.
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Need help with No-cd crack info? on: 2008 March 16, 12:32:21
I happened to have it in my 4shared folder, too. So, you guys can give this link a shot.

@ gynarchy: there is no need to be snarky as this can happen to anyone.  Even though I check for JM's updates almost daily and download the latest ones, I stillmanaged to miss an old mod.  I thought I was totally up to date when I had the issues.

Uh, yes, there is a perfectly good reason to be snarky to someone who admits to not reading the FAQ. Heck, this person hasn't even read the thread or it would have noticed that the problem was caused by an outdated mod! In fact, that is the time honored MATY way! It's how we keep from being overrun by lazy idiots like the BBS. I for one cheer for gynarchy's traditional idiot-poking skills! Good for you gynarchy, keep it up!
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Suggestion: READMe labeling for mass downloaders on: 2008 March 09, 07:57:01
I checked them all pretty carefully before putting them back in my downloads folder when I installed Free Time, but I didn't go to a vacation hood. Everything looked fine until then.

I might be entirely wrong, but this sounds as if you literally placed your hacks from your Bon Voyage downloads folder into your Free Time downloads folder. If you've done this, then I know what your problem is. Many FFS hacks have been updated so you shouldn't use the copy you had before in FT. You should download a fresh copy from the hack directory. If I have misunderstood your post then I'm sorry for wasting your time with this explanation.
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Transferring newly made sims to a different hood on: 2008 February 23, 03:33:44
It's much easier to clone a sim in simPE and then reclone in body shop than to entirely recreate the sim in CAS, in my opinion. The simPE stuff is really, really easy in this case; just use the sim surgery plugin and it's all pretty self-explanatory.
33  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wedding Arches Bug? on: 2008 February 16, 19:21:06
HugZ!
Cynarra

Okay, this really needs to stop. This sort of behavior goes against everything that is MATY and well, I just won't stand for it. This is not the BBS; please act accordingly. We do not enjoy hugging or the use of Z instead of S here (I suppose that there is an exception for lolcatisms, but that is fairly narrowly defined). Lurk MOAR.
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV third patch is out on: 2008 February 14, 05:58:13
Some of the fixes are too good to be Maxis.

Some of them are complete bullshit. Why would they remove the ability to direct employees to be a masseuse. You need that. Why wouldn't they let Bigfoot go on a group outing?

Fake, and even if real, not wanted.

Actually, they copypasted the fix list from a post that MaxoidShannon made recently. She claims that a new patch with those fixes will be available soon, but she never mentioned anything about it being hosted on some other website or not being officially endorsed by EA, so this one is a fake, but the list is canon.
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV third patch is out on: 2008 February 14, 04:09:58
My opinion is that EA would release their patch on their website as they have always done before. This is clearly fake and I am annoyed that anyone would be stupid enough to believe that it could be real. I'm looking at you Giggy. Just because some random person claims that they are EA doesn't mean that it's true. Let's do a test!

HAI EVERYONE! I am MaxoidInvisigoth! I can has released a new patch today!!! Come download it at www.Iswearitsnotavirus.com!!! Srsly! I is a representative of EA!!

So, what do you guys think? Am I really a Maxoid? Well, I SAID that I work for EA so it MUST be true, right? Discuss!
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Alternatives to Trillian? on: 2008 February 12, 03:47:25
I don't know anything about it going pay. The ancient version that I have still works. It can do AIM/ICQ, IRC, Yahoo, MSN, Jabber, and some other stuff I've never even heard of.
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Alternatives to Trillian? on: 2008 February 12, 01:22:43
I use GAIM, but apparently that is now obsolete and it is called Pidgin now. I haven't used this new shiny version, but it claims to do everything you want and more. It might be worth a shot, I really like GAIM, so I imagine that hte new version will be good, too.
38  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Did the patch really kill my BV, or was it something I did? on: 2008 February 09, 04:17:09
Ah, I probably should have been clearer about the music stutter and lag bit. Normally everything runs pretty smoothly, all crappy specs beside. It's just that since BV sometimes (or more like a lot of times) when I enter buy or build mode the music freaks out and sounds like a broken record. Then it gets all laggy and just trying to place one item or whatever becomes quite difficult. The music stutter and lag hasn't occurred during regular gameplay though.

Why don't you just disable the buy and build mode music using the ingame audio options? You have to go into the buy menu song list and then unclick the button next to each song name. It's really easy.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I wean myself off of snapdragons? on: 2008 February 07, 05:05:54
I was concerned about this issue.  My game is full of so many hacks(by the way, make it so enjoyable) that I was wondering if I could play without hacks.  That is probably the main reason that I bought Lifestories.  I play hack free and it is nice to know that I don't have to play with hacks if I don't want to--but it is way better with hacks.  I don't see snapdragons as being that bad-I put one on each nightstand and they wake up refreshed instead of waking up like they had just ran a marathon in their sleep.  If you still want them to eat breakfast together and you have the InSIMinator then make them have 50% hunger lost and then they will eat breakfast. With snapdragons, you will be able to manage their needs in a normal way.

Really, I think the need to mood ratio is just off.  I mean, when I wake up in the morning, I need to piss and take a shower, then eat breakfast...but I don't wake up grouchy and depressed just because I have to do the morning routine (and said routine doesn't take me three hours)

Maybe there's a happy medium somewhere out there...

I just don't understand what your problem is. I think that most of us would agree that handling our sims' needs is a manageable and fairly easy process. You've received a lot of excellent advice, and if you try this stuff I am sure that you will find that it isn't actually that hard. I am getting the sense that you really just want to complain about the game.
40  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighborhoods and Townie creation (Updated for BV) on: 2008 February 02, 04:17:52
I create all of my own dormies, so I can definitely walk you through this process. You will need one of Inge's teleporters or another similar hacked object by the creator of your choice.

1. Create a group of YA sims in UniCAS just like you normally would. Give them the names you want them to keep.
2. Plop a residential lot down and move your CAS created dormies into the lot.
3. Select one sim and click on the teleporter object. Find and select the "make me a townie" option. Repeat this process with each sim on the lot.
4. When you are finished select "clear all non-residents off lot" and then save and exit.

Usually I give some of the dormies majors before turning them into dormies, the ones I do not change will be undecided. I generally make 16 to start out with, but you can make as many or as few as you have the patience to do. I must admit that this process is incredibly time consuming, but I really enjoy it. You might also want something like Hook's randomizer to help you think of names, set aspirations, astrological signs, and turn ons/turn offs. The program is incredibly easy to modify for your own needs, so I set it to also select their face template and hair color because that makes it a bit more interesting for me.
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lost my CC, looking for... on: 2008 February 02, 02:45:03
I uploaded the two Louis skins that I geneticized. IIRC one is between S1 and S2 and the other one is between S3 and S4. NOTE! I decustomized these, too, so they won't appear in CAS. They will show up in Body Shop though. They will spin up in CAS when you hit the randomize button, but only at random. A simple workaround is to create a sim in BS with each of these skins and then save them, then later, in CAS you can open the saved sim folder thing and pick the one with the skin that you want. Then you can change whatever else you want about the sim and you'll be ready to go. Smiley

I use Louis default replacement skins, but I also have two shades between the four standard shades that I've geneticized. If you need or want those I could upload them somewhere. You can already find geneticized versions of virtually every Enayla eye here.
43  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2008 January 29, 03:09:45
JM, is it possible to make the Lot Debugger MOAR decorative? I never have a place for it in lots that have no foundations.

I'm thinking of using it as a prop in spawn bedrooms (the batman logo makes it look like one of those novelty toy chests).  Otherwise it sits outside in the back yard, like an airconditioning unit.  Every house with its batman box.  I never bother to try to hide it.  If I hide it, I forget I have it there.

I'm with you on this one. All of my lots just have a strange collection of junk in the back yard. This is how I discovered that sims LOVE scanning the lot debugger for finger prints. It seems inconvenient for me to hide the objects because then I have to go hunt them down every time I want to use them (and I use the macro box quite a bit).
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pollination Tech needs makeover... on: 2008 January 28, 07:55:50
More people posted my PT offsprings at the other forum I go, the results are amazing but I discovered the hair is not working for binned hair, my PT is giving genetic black hair to offsprings.

It might not be working because the custom hair you use might not have toddler/child meshes. I tried to go check it out on your site so that I could get a better look at the files, but I got a message saying that you were over your bandwidth limit. If this is the case then the children produced from this PT have messed up genetic data.

Another thing, you should carefully consider the ramifications of using a non-binned hair for any sim that you intend to use for breeding purposes. If the hair works properly for all ages then the resulting offspring will have that same exact hair. They won't get other hairs from the custom bin; they will only be able to pass down that specific hair. This would be a problem for me, but others might not be annoyed by that. To be honest, I never use an un-binned hair in CAS. If I want a sim to have an un-binned hair I give them a binned hair to start and then after I move them onto a lot I change their appearance in the mirror to give them a custom hair. I often do this with my alien sims so that they have appropriately weird (often green) hair. If you are comfortable with the genetic results that using a non-binned hair will yield then that's fine, I just wanted to make sure that you have all of the information (and perhaps you should pass this information on to the people who will be downloading your PT replacement; they might not know, and they might not want that hair to go down for generations).
45  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Items Not Going Into Inventory on: 2008 January 26, 04:58:41
On an owned business lot, all crafted items go into the owner's inventory, not the creator's inventory.

Yeah, that was why I asked croi if the lot was an owned business lot.
46  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Items Not Going Into Inventory on: 2008 January 26, 02:49:37
This is probably a stupid question, but did this happen on an owned business lot?

48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Please change back the FAQ thread title! on: 2008 January 20, 21:44:33
OK, is that just to get sheeple to look there?  Because it works.  Hell, I've clicked five times since I noticed it this morning, and been disappointed every time.  (It's not that I haven't already seen Britney nekkid, just that I haven't seen her today.)
Or is someone here at MATY ashamed that this was the last little corner of the interweb not offering pics &/or video?

Please 'splain.

FYI, we have a thread for discussion of FAQ related problems, requests, etc. where we have already discussed the whole name change issue and the porn thing. Aren't I helpful? You may praise me now.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building/Upgrading a PC for TS2 on: 2008 January 20, 19:30:25
Aggie, I was poking around the other day on the Dell website and it seems that they still offer computers with XP. I just ran a search for xp and I found this. It seems that you also get some cusomization options, which could be a really good thing. For example, you'd definitely want to choose a better graphics card than the intel that comes standard with most Dells, IMO.

Do these REPLACE the defaults?  I'm an idiot and have no idea how this stuff works!

Yes.
