51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: People coming into the house uninvited. on: 2008 October 04, 12:56:59
Are you using an auto-greet hack of some sort. My game is the same as Gastfyr's. It's still annoying to have them show up at all (especially if I forgot and let them generate when I didn't mean to) but they don't actually do anything, just leave. I'm considering putting in an auto-greet however, so I'm curious to know if that's doing it.
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Personality and Enthusiasm on: 2008 October 04, 12:49:20
You can guess what their One True Hobby will be based on their personality and interests. It's easy to test - use a bunch of sims you haven't figured out/looked at their One True with, look at their personality and make guesses, click on the lot debugger to see if you're right.

But then... define sims 'liking' something. That it's the One True isn't that big a deal. Sims will easily gain hobby interest in any and all of them and don't mind cooking (for example) at all, even if their special hobby is sports. And will still roll up wants to win cooking contests and blog about it on the net or whatever. Actually sometimes I wish they were only allowed one hobby at all. Having all of them do everything dilutes the fun of it.

Then I have the same problem with the Lifetime rewards things - there aren't enough of them, they aren't different enough and before too long everyone has everything. blah. I self-limit for both things.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I can haz 2 problemz?!? Awesome people, please help me! on: 2008 October 04, 12:38:46
If you're just randomly generating NPCs (do you mean townies as well?) using your own defaults I'd guess from the townie/NPC gun, wouldn't it be easier for others to just generate their own? What's the point of uploading/downloading yours unless you've special made each one in CAS or something? And if you're doing that, why not do it in bodyshop if you want to save them for others to use?
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AL Patch issued at EA website on: 2008 October 02, 11:05:20
Want - Murphy bed deaths and apt. lots moveable from neighborhood even with sims in them.

Don't Want - incompatibility with JMs ALfixes and only half the stuff in it addressed (reported fixed - I'll believe it when I see it), especially date rewards issues.

pfui.

I'd send an objects package but hafta go to work instead. Double-pfui.
55  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Testers Wanted - Realistic Sickness on: 2008 September 22, 02:12:03
I'm using it with AL and it's working as advertised. Sims very occasionally get sick. If cared for, they get over it. If ignored, 3 or 4 days in, they die. Death does come "suddenly" with this mod, in that the needs don't bottom out so it's not like you know they're going now.

Chastity Gere came home from work with the flu. She up'd and down'd for about 4 days and, right in the middle of a date, keeled over. Her roomie was asleep, but managed to get up in time and tried to run down to save her, but she'd infected him as well and the requisite coughing and wheezing fit before he could do anything made him too slow. It was funny, her date said (more or less) "you're the worst date I've ever had, don't bother to call again."

Still trying to decide how this will affect her roomie. He's convinced she died of an STD and because she partied too much (which, in effect, she did), so he probably needs to reroll his aspiration (he ended up with a romance secondary) and move on to more stable-type things, and stop that dancin' stuff.
56  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Character Portraits on: 2008 September 19, 10:02:23
I like it too. If I don't like a pose, I just change it with the lot debugger. Or send them outside.

I had a vampire and it's really funny to see him change to all the different vampirish poses every time someone called him or had him come over or whatever. Just interesting to see what he'd be doing next as I haven't played with vampires all that much.
57  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 19, 01:47:04
Although it seems like neighboring apt. dwellers are always not home, not in the mood, already hanging out in the community lot, in bed or at work/school - when they are available visiting another sim or inviting them to come out works fine in my game. The apt. lights up, my sim heads in and then must be directed to interact or chooses to do something stupid.

"Oooh, you have a toilet just like mine! I have one too! Only mine is blue and yours is white. White is such a wonderful color. I must go closely examine your toilet. I went potty before I left the house (my mommy trained me well) but let's see if your toothpaste is more fun than mine. I think I'll go through your medicine cabinet and brush my teeth now." At least she brushes.

Um, yeah, I don't have 'no what's this' in yet, but even if I did, they'd choose something else stupid to do. Anyway, not that I've tried it a lot, but when told to interact, they do fine. And sims invited out can come over and have coffee or a meal or whatever at my tiny lot as well. As long as they're directed.

Will the landlord repair your sim's servo? He repaired my family's tv without a hitch - quickly too.
59  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Threee Lakes Hotel ate my sims? on: 2008 September 15, 22:39:55
I thought you said somewhere that deleting subhoods doesn't delete sims so is safe to do (maybe in reference to deleting extra Uni hoods)? Not that it would do any good as you'd still have all those extra uni characters, but still not bad? But I'm pretty sure that was pre-BV. Did BV change something or am I misremembering?
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Einstein Effect on: 2008 September 15, 22:34:13
The lot sync timer is a deceptively simple little wonder.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My Sim's Butler *served* TV dinners for dinner... on: 2008 September 15, 22:20:12
By the way, I *hate* those freaking hotel maids.  Is there *any* way short of making them selectable and actually telling them to clean to get them to freaking *clean*?  It sucks bad enough that you can't leave the lot and have to watch them clean, but staying in my hotel all day watching the hotel maid *not* clean is beyond maddening.   Angry
Simwardrobe has a fix for the hotel maid that works pretty well:
http://www.simwardrobe.com/
under sims2, fixes, bv fixes, service/npc fixes, improved housekeeping.
62  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Lot Sync Timer: All BlueSoups Suck Edition on: 2008 September 08, 12:04:29
As well as the time being off (I just set mine back with the -days function so they were the same and after that they counted fine), the "list" feature isn't listing the other apartment lots for me. When in another household totally, they all list fine, but when playing the 2nd family in an apt, the first family isn't on the list.
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Gameplay: How do YOU keep track of sim lifes? on: 2008 August 25, 16:45:55
I don't keep track either. I use the lot sync timer to make sure I play the houses the same amount (sometimes a few days a round, sometimes more - just depends) and the 3 sims any playable knows best get aged up with them when they age up and killed off as elders when the elders die. I find it frustrating that the BV sims don't make the list so any BV (or NPC clerks) my townies are best friends with get teleported in and aged when they do as well. If my sims and I don't know them, I don't care if they stay young too long. I do hate seeing the same names too often so I seldom miss too many townies.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't Get Pets to Like Each Other Enough to Breed on: 2008 August 20, 23:56:07
If you're having trouble because the praise/scold time is too short and don't want to interrupt your sims, you can queue it up.  When the ability is up, queue it a bunch of times instead of just once and you can let your sim finish whatever they're doing and they'll still go praise/scold (if you have enough of them) as the pet will wait for the interaction to complete. Usually the extras will drop out of the queue but every once in awhile you'll get 2 or more from the same original action which doesn't hurt. You do have to make sure you notice the option still.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why did my game spawn a new stray? on: 2008 August 08, 17:04:50
I thought nostrayrespawn allowed the generation of one of each kind of pet to avoid borking the "call to adopt" option? Before it did that, the game would lag indefinitely if you tried to adopt a pet. I thought...
66  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Two questions: Ageless cat and non-romantic adult on: 2008 August 07, 16:53:15
As you already have insim, have you used it to select your non-aging teen and check him out. Using the 'age sims' cheat on teens (prior to FT) caused them to age up but not choose aspirations and not have romantic interactions (as they still had 'grow up' so were technically children). It'd be worth a check to make sure he aged properly and if not, put him in the aspiration reward and give him LTWs and all so the game sees him as a teen.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ridiculous 'follow' obsession on: 2008 July 30, 16:49:54
I think FT did increase it. If you let them follow, and sit around next to their parents (which is all they do usually when they get there), the toddlers gain enthusiasm for whatever the parents are doing (dunno if that includes woohoo or not). As enthusiasm is a FT thing, the extra following probably is too. I still enjoy watching my toddlers dance and you can't have that without freewill. I'm easily entertained however.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: sims meeting in vacations on: 2008 July 29, 16:51:20
Does it make a difference if they buy vacation homes instead of using hotels? <just curious> </cat>
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How long does Louis Aspir live anyway? on: 2008 July 28, 17:00:48
Ja, I want also. Just the kind of thing for Koschei the Deathless as well.
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Counters wont "connect" on: 2008 July 06, 23:18:26
Move objects is like a light switch. When you turn it on, it stays on. When you turn it off, it stays off. To keep it off, turn it off again when you're done with it. :p

Looks like the user startup stuff is from something of Gunmod's - considering that sneaky title there at the top. I don't use the lighting system so I've no idea why that's necessary but it's a good idea to pay attention to what the hacks you use do.
71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Counters wont "connect" on: 2008 July 06, 21:09:04
If you're using a Userstartup cheat file, you should know what's in it. Go look. Otherwise type "moveobjects off" into the cheat window to make sure it's off.

It shouldn't matter if counters 'connect' or not to putting a dishwasher or the like in one. You should be able to place a single piece of counter and put a dishwasher in it. You can't?
72  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: P&L Refrigerator Fires on: 2008 July 05, 23:11:53
lol. Yeah, that refrigerator light has a *serious* short.

It is, btw, the harvest basket - in case anyone else tries to use it. <sigh> Anyone know of *any* remeshes for Season's plants or any other way to have a working herb garden? <thinks EA put our the Season's stuff waaaay too late and nobody seemed interested in making any new ones and I'm not the least capable of meshing> but an herb garden would go really well with my gourmand hobby sims.
73  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: P&L Refrigerator Fires on: 2008 July 05, 20:18:55
Unsouper <points to sig>
74  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / P&L Refrigerator Fires on: 2008 July 05, 17:14:50
Well, I've managed to break my neighborhood in an interesting way - any time a sim opens the fridge to cook something (even instant meals) it catches fire. All refrigerators on all lots. My husband and son think this is really really funny (ok, it is rather). My husband thinks I've created Eureka and the mad scientist person did something Really Bad. I'll hafta rename the hood. Not as good as the Burning Bush and Sim Commandments ("Thou shalt not wave at thy creator") but not bad.

Anyway, the newest things I added were Echo's harvest basket, Numenor's magazine rack and some clothes. It's probably the harvest basket. I really wanted an herb garden for one of my sims Sad Anyone know if that's broken with Seasons and Freetime (I thought it still worked as of Seasons, but who knows)?

Other'n than that, I've got the newest Insim (which I suspect is causing some not very important or amusing things with toddlers, but otherwise working fine even with fridges), ACR, JFades juicer and mostly awesome hacks.

Yeah, I'll take the hacks out and check next time it's my turn on that computer, but anyone got any ideas in the meantime? Want to P&L? A real firebug want to have a LOT of fires and feed sims with no access to fridges?
75  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: FT and/or IKEA: Unable to "walk to..." vacation lots on: 2008 June 29, 23:44:33
Are you checked into the hotel? You have to check in somewhere you're staying before you can go somewhere else.
