I thought I'd read somewhere that the shower in a can has a small chance of making a sim pee? It happens every single time in my game, making the can useless. Is there a way to reduce this feature or disable it altogether?

The last time I played WA was ages ago (at least a year), and I didn't have this issue - however, I played a bit yesterday and experienced it. Perhaps it was the latest patch.
2  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2015 January 24, 15:17:39
I downloaded the latest version, but the outerwear issue still seems to be happening, along with the CAS and buy mode bloat.

I appreciate the advice. I'll try with the slower drive for now and see how it goes.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Hard drive speed on: 2015 January 10, 05:10:57
I need to replace my hard drive, because I'm getting BSODs and messages that tell me it's about to fail.

Unfortunately, I have to play Sims on a laptop because I am constantly travelling. For reference, my processor is an Intel i7 running at 2.5 GHz, and I have 8gb of RAM (not that the game can use it). Unfortunately, I only have Intel HD Integrated Graphics, but I seem to be getting away with it with the game on low settings.

The computer repairman I called said that a faster drive (which is what I had) will wear out sooner. What I had was a terabyte drive that ran at 7200 - my game ran extraordinarily well considering with all expansions and quite a lot of custom content. I'm considering replacing this drive with one that runs at 5400. I can't quite afford a solid state drive at the moment.

Basically, I have two questions. 1) Should I get the drive that runs at 7200 or the one that runs at 5400? And 2) could playing the Sims 3 have worn out my old drive prematurely?

Yes, the outerwear thing has been borked for a long time. And it's not just everyday clothes that are showing up inappropriately--sometimes I end up with a sim in swimsuit, flippers and gloves as an outerwear outfit. I haven't had time to test this comprehensively to find out when or why this happens, but it's definitely connected to AM.

I am also experiencing the bloated CAS and buy mode, and I wonder if these two issues have the same root cause.

Is there any chance you could do anything about how sh*t the game is at assigning Outerwear? I can sort of understand pre-existing Sims only having gloves applied to whatever their Everyday outfit is but it seems to be doing this for newly aging up Sims as well. Surely the game should be generating an entirely new outfit for the catagory?
It irks and befuddles me why the game is even allowed to use clothing that isn't even catagorised for Outerwear in the first place. I don't use any of the commands to unlock clothing for all catagories.

Seconding this.  Tired of seeing male children running around in the snow in shorts, a t-shirt and long pink princess gloves.

It would be nice to have the ability to move house while at university. Seems like a glaring omission.

Why would you need to?  You're there for two weeks tops and there's no meaningful need to move.  Sims 2 did it better.

In case I regret my choice of accomodation, or want to get well away from annoying dormies?

I guess that's rather realistic, then.  But it would be nice to be able to move in case of glitches, etc.
8  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2012 November 24, 15:28:47
I patched the day the patch was released, and my game has been working fine until updating to the 19th November AM, from whatever test one came before that (I haven't actually played the game in a few days, just updated the mod in the meantime). I did manage to get it load after leaving it a few hours, so it's literally just a vastly increased loading time.

Have you checked for conflicts?
9  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2012 September 24, 18:48:46
Kleptomaniac sims used to be able to steal things from inside buildings.  With one of the recent patches, EA changed it so they can only steal things outside on community lots.  I don't want them to have unlimited swipes or be able to do it all day (as one mod allows), but it would be nice to be able to steal from inside museums and such.  Is this within the scope of Awesomemod, or would it just be an XML tweak?
10  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2012 September 04, 21:01:30
As of this latest version, the "fixall" command is not working.  Other awesomemod commands do work correctly, so I know the mod is being recognised.
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 March 13, 00:00:19
I've had this problem all along.  Turning off the internet (and any unnecessary programmes running in the background) and setting autosave to 20 minutes or so helps.  The Crash Log Analyser says it's due to insufficient memory, though.  How much memory have you got?  I only have 2 Gb and am planning to upgrade to 4 Gb shortly.
12  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2012 March 06, 23:44:14
I've been annoyed lately about calls my sims get late at night, when parties end.  It's the "We missed you at the party, blah blah blah" phone call.  It's annoying to get the call when I've already clicked "no thanks" on the party invitation dialogue box.  It's especially annoying for sims that require lots of friends for their careers, as they get invited to more parties - one every day or two, in some cases.  I don't want to silence the sims' phones, because sometimes there are useful opportunities, etc. that come up over the phone.

Would it be within the domain of Awesomemod to stop the redundant phone calls?

Right off the bat I would ditch the crack.

Yeah, that might be a good idea.  Roll Eyes

I have a couple that was recently married and when I try to get the mail from the mailbox (the presents that their friends have sent them) the game crashes.  When I took out all of my cc and Awesomeware it doesn't crash. If I leave in just Awesomeware (Awesome Mod, Rule of Six, Config, straygnome) it crashes. Has anyone had this problem?

Yes, actually, though I assumed it was just a glitch and gave them a new mailbox from buydebug...
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Pets patch 1.29 on: 2011 December 18, 01:27:20
Is anyone else experiencing random "ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00000030" crashes to desktop since the 1.29 patch? The crash happens at random times - with or without CC - so sometimes I can play for a bit and do many things, but other times it's the exact opposite. My Sim lives in Appaloosa Plains and is only on week 2 of her life, but could it still be a possible save corruption?

I've been getting those, too, since 1.26.  One was definitely a corrupt save, but my graphics card isn't well suited to games and seems to be part of the problem.  Turning down the settings, getting rid of memories, and using a smaller neighbourhood is helping so far.
16  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2011 November 25, 13:15:48
Does that always happen? Was there anything unusual about that specific victim? Can you do this to anyone else?

There did not appear to be anything unusual about the three sims that caused trouble - I think one of them was a former maid that had married into an inactive family though.  I'll test some more to see if it always happens.

EDIT:  Sorry, apparently I forgot to remove an old mod.  All fixed now!
17  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2011 November 24, 10:39:12
Okay, RoboticHandofGod works now.  However, I just tried to makeover someone in an inactive family (using the "makeover [sim]" command) and my game froze in the makeover screen.  The various buttons (options, accept family, etc.) respond to clicking but do not actually DO anything.  Had to shut down the game in task manager.
18  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2011 November 19, 18:20:16
Not sure about autosave, but HandOfGod is not working for me either.  Furthermore, when a family calls a maid, at least two of them arrive and stand on the lawn doing nothing for most of the day, cleaning only half the mess before leaving because 'it's time to go', taking full wages with them.
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Question regarding hardware and the loading of thumbnails and patterns on: 2011 July 04, 13:42:03

The new computer is ridiculously fast and smooth and runs at around 32 degrees C in game. It has an Intel i7 2600k processor, a fast, huge HDD and a shiny graphics card. It also has five fans and a cooler inside a big case to keep it cool. Everything is set on max resolution. I must say, it is a real pleasure to see the game run as it should without all the stuttering drama and crashes.

*BUT* It was expensive to build. I sure wouldn't want to have to replace it any time soon.

I've been thinking about building a new laptop on the higher end of things.  I don't suppose you'd be willing to share your specs?
20  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2010 January 15, 04:30:13
Strange.  I'm getting Error 12 on vacation as well now.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting Ready to Update the Wrangler, taking feature requests on: 2009 March 23, 13:36:42
I do use WW.  Would love to have a batch mode.  Let me select multiple files, for example 20 outfits, and do the same thing to all of them, for example, set their category to outerwear.  This is what I primarily use WW for, and it takes me a while to do them individually.  If WW already has batch mode and I just haven't figured out how to use it, I'll feel pretty silly. Wink

I second this.  I mostly use WW to townify everything I download, and it's kind of a nuisance going through every single file.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Some Basic questions on: 2008 December 22, 00:05:57
6) Im currently reading all the old Podium threads, I see mention of a dancing  Bust-a Move. I havent seen this option for any sim yet. Is this move available to certain sims, at a certain dancing skill level or only available with a EP/SP I dont have?

I'm afraid I can't help you with the rest, but I do know that Bust a Move comes with University.
23  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Townies and NPCs can generate with Glasses/Facial Hair on: 2008 December 19, 03:33:24
I've been using the Wardrobe Wrangler to townify all my accessories.  That seems to work fine, Gwenke, although it's rather tedious to fix everything.
24  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Store Stuff on: 2008 November 17, 21:00:52
I've been having trouble getting my game to load with this stuff installed.  The Cubic and Deco sets both crash my game as soon as the loading screen is about to fade to the neighbourhood-choosing-thing.  I changed field 0040 to 0x0001 in SimPE, to no effect.  Is this because I only have the base game and University, or did I screw something up while editing?
25  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: Not As Advertised on: 2008 September 13, 20:41:52
I'm too lazy to rebin all the miscategorised Peggy hair, so I just pretend my sims have chosen to dye theirs but forgot the eyebrows.
