TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New peggy hairs. They doesn't replace anything

Here's some screenshots with the two pay hairs from CAS with an EAxis sim (an adoptable child one who grew into a teen recently). Please pardon the darkness as these were shot with the in-game camera; I really need to download a screen-grabbing program (because screen-grabbing with shitty Windows is even darker). There don't seem to be any noticeable problems (other than hair that's so stiff, almost like it's seen a full can of Aquanet), and it doesn't look so terrible on a regular looking sim and not Peggy's models. And without the hairband: ETA: Now with Clickable Thumbnail Power Because They're Goddamn Huge!

I am well aware that Peggyland is a mighty screwed up place where Peggy never fixes her shit, yes. Still, considering that she finally figured out how to make them, uh, as properly as a Peggy hair gets (this is not including horrendous gaps and other fuckwittery, obviously), lazy ass couldn't spare a few minutes to fix the first hair?
I know, I know -- shouldn't ask stupid questions when we already know the answer, and I know I'm not the only one who would like to knock some sense into her sparkly head.

What are people using to make core/script mods now? I don't think I have the right tools. I can export things from a package with S3PE, but it exports a file ending in .s3sa. Not sure if this will help, but there's a new handy-dandy tutorial for basic core modding over at MTS now: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=354419. Tells you what programs are useful.

Yeah, a Sim(Hair)Guru already stated that over at the crap board (kind of expected this sort of issue anyway because I was reminded of the Sims 2 issue with the first "long dress-like shirts" that were made which were crashing the game when you used the phone). There was also this:
"First off, this appears to be a Sims 2 asset that was converted to Sims 3. Due to performance reasons we're restricted to a certain amount of Vertices per hair, this hair mod exceeds that number. So for lower end computers, it can lead to slow down and cause instability like crashes and game freezing."

Yes, I know. It's a fucking shame.
Edit: Well, done uninstalling and reinstalling, and it installed this time (of course). Yeah, Pescado, I know I should have done that in the first place when it kept failing, so that's my own epic failure. I guess what annoys me the most is that I still am puzzled as to why it was failing on the Launcher in the first place. No one else seemed to have that problem. I don't use the silly thing, but apparently it had become corrupted in some way? Jesus fuck.

Thanks. Mine is STILL hanging the install at the stupid executable for the shitty Launcher. Why in the hell would it throw all sorts of fits with that bloody thing? EDIT: Nevermind. Can't fix my problem. I guess I'll never be able to install this fucking thing unless I want to spend the rest of the night uninstalling and reinstalling the whole game.

Fuck, I've taken out various mods and still can't get the bastard to move past 81%. Considering that I've heard that it gives you more crashes, new bugs, a longer loading time, and possibly AIDS, I think I'll do like I did for Sims 2 and just rely on Pescado's fixes.

OK, it's been noted elsewhere that having the original version of the No Censor Mod (not Rick's) was causing the patch install to fail at 77%. So I replaced that one with my backup, and downloaded Rick's mod. Got to 81% this time, and it failed. Would Delphy's slider (I only have the Body Slider Hack) cause any issues? Or the No Intro Mod? I know it's not Awesomemod because others are able to install the patch with it in.

If I ever support them into the game, I'm going to refer to them as Death Sticks. Like the caffeine buzz crash, your sim will then get a negative moodlet of "Could use a Death Stick". To prevent the negative moodlet, you must then give your sim another death stick, and thus the cycle of addiction continues. I would seriously consider a sacrifice, chanting, and the whole nine yards if this could be implemented. As for that period mod, I admit to having it when I still played Sims 2. Why? I love to torture my sims. I mean, I torture them because I love them. Or is it that I love them because I torture them? Eh, que sera, sera.

I would imagine that part of your lag has to do with that graphics card, too. It's not that spectacular of a gaming card (even though it's labeled by Nvidia as one) as it's rather low-end now. As a friend once put it, "Never buy a card with LE or SE anywhere in the name. LE = lags on everything, and SE = sucks at everything."
What resolution are you playing in and what are your graphic settings in the game?

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Anisotropic Filtering: Turning it on
|
on: 2009 June 18, 01:23:35

The biggest difference is the ground. That's about all anisotropic filtering does for you in the game -- the ground looks more detailed and less blurry. Whoopee. And as with all things Sims-related, if you don't have that great of a system to handle it, upping your settings just slows down your game until your mouse is dragging ass across the screen.

God, Riverview is one borked piece of shit. Downloaded the bastard, tried to play it, watched it CTD continuously, noticed that it was nowhere to be found on the main screen after a few CTDs, but the (BLARGH POS) Launcher insisted that it was installed...how wonderfully made of fail.
