Hell, yes. Jordi is right. Game should not be taking up almost 2 Gigs of my 4, as is what's happening when these long pauses occur.

Legal now (because before 1.2.7, I figured any potential patches might cause a BFBVFS situation with Reloaded, so I caved in and bought it). I initially had problems because of my own stupidity, yes; I'd forgotten about a few altered ini files, but after replacing with the original files, I still had to uninstall and reinstall because the bastard kept hanging on the Launcher for whatever reason. No big deal; I hadn't had to uninstall and reinstall a game because of corruption since the days of TS1, so it was just minor aggravation. I've yet to see any of the freakish problems that people are reporting after patching. Everything runs as smoothly as a baby's bottom.

I play with HP's skins not because I really like them, but because they aren't as bad as the others I've seen (plus, the glow is more noticeable because of the picture sharpening which is my fault).
I'd make my own, but I'm still trying to figure out hair meshing and conversion right now. Changing code is easier than figuring out Milkshape, for me.

Just save everything in your Sims folder that's under My Documents. Your saved families are there, and after you reinstall, you should just be able to copy them back into the fresh install like I did.

Make backups of beloved mods and whatnot.
Get Revo Uninstaller; it's free. Using the advanced setting (it'll ask you four of which you'd like to do), go to uninstall TS3, ignore the same bullshit error code again and continue on hitting Next, deleting every fucking trace of the program (or just do it manually without Revo, but make sure you delete the patch files from the Temp folder and the registry keys).
You have to make sure you delete every trace -- and I mean EVERY trace -- of the bastard patch and TS3 before it will uninstall properly (also don't be surprised if it takes a while to reinstall; mine kept hanging).
ETA: You'll probably want Revo in any case. I tried deleting shit manually like I usually do, but no matter how many times I deleted registry keys, they were STILL there.

Eh, I tend to favor the shorter pixie-style cuts. Of course though, something about that hair makes me want to beat it down with a bottle of Bedhead Straightening Shampoo. ETA (because I don't want to doublepost, dammit): Here's my Adele makeover pictures: So here's a profilish picture (with her hair up), so you can get an idea of nose shape changes and cheek changes. Another from the side. As you can see, she just needed a few subtle changes to the cheekbone and nose structure for her to look a little less Bride of Frankenstein and a little more Chinese-American. Here's one from the front. And here's one where I gave her a haircut and had her embrace her heritage, sort of. If anyone actually wants her, just let me know. I can repackage her with a different basegame hair and a different basegame pattern (the hair in the picture is a store hair, and the pattern is some Asian pattern I picked up ages ago on MTS, I think).

Well, I discovered what my issue was, I had removed the goddamn EAcrap from the library file, and had to replace it all.
Basically, to get the patch to install smoothly, you need EVERY original game file to be available to the patcher. Gah.
Unless it hangs on the Launcher (as in my case) which you can't replace with an original file from the CD or iso, so you're stuck reinstalling the game.

This is EAxis we're talking about here. It'll be quite a while before the biggest bugs of all are fixed (if at all). Remember all of the memory leaks in TS2? Good God, there's some serious leaks going on with TS3 (Firefox isn't this bad), and somehow, I doubt that "fixed a very slow memory leak triggered by the "Fertilize" interaction" solved the problem.

It is a mess. I only downloaded the damn thing because I noticed that Pes had updated AM to be compatible, and I've spent the last six hours of my day trying different tactics to get it to install before finally giving up and reinstalling the game (only to run into uninstalling AND reinstalling problems).
It's acting different ways with different users, so I don't know if a guide would help at this point. Hell, chanting and voodoo are tried and true practices; you'd have better luck with those.

Yep, same thing I'm having to do, jrcaporal. Can't believe the uninstaller ended up fucked in the end, too. I deleted registry key after registry key and temp files, and it was still being a bitch about uninstalling. GAH! Fucking insane!
Sammy, I hate to say this, but I'm willing to bet you'll have to reinstall, too, because no matter how many things I replaced with the originals (over and over again), the whole thing was still seriously fucked.

So...after replacing damn near everything (Gamedata and Bin folders), the patch is still throwing errors, but this time, it's the damn Launcher that's giving me problems, according to the log. Anyone got any suggestions before I reinstall the game?

Fuck, I have replaced, replaced, and replaced the gameplay.package file because that's what's throwing errors (according to the log), and it's still giving off errors. I guess I need to redo the whole lot of Bin? I didn't have this much trouble with the last craptastic patch.

My bad. Just pointing it out for the people who will go ZOMG I HAZ NO SUCH FOLDER.
Also about the enablescripterror.package -- that's more or less something to enable error logging that's helpful for modders in order to fix their mods.

If you're trying to get people to check {E1F84AB6-D46A-43C7-A056-D3C7795DBB21} in the Temp folder, you should point out for those that don't know that the rtpatch log will be in another similarly named folder (because some of us don't have E1F8blahblahblah). Mine's pointing out that the VideoCamera.ini is breaking it. I swear to Jeebus that I just replaced it with the original, and it's still throwing errors. GRAZALFRACK. This is fucking ridiculous. I removed the mods subdirectories, resource.cfg (the Mods one), 3booter, fps limiter As Pes has pointed out before, this is just heartwarming voodoo and chanting. It doesn't do anything. ETA: OK, Imma 'bout to choke a bitch. I've replaced the godforsaken gameplay.package with the original one three times now, and it's still throwing errors. I can haz patch plz EAxis??

Oddly enough, over on Facebook (because I haven't ventured over to 3Tardland today), I noticed quite a number of people kermitflailing over the patch and how they can no longer play with mods in the game.
It's just their core mods, right? Maxoids and pigheaded EAdiots seem less than enthusiastic about custom content that isn't just recolored CAST crap, so I wouldn't be surprised if they "fixed" our ability to add real CC. I imagine the reason would be that they want this series to die a quick, humiliating death. Actually, some said they'd never used Indie or Awesome (or any other mod; just patterns and clothes), but they were still CTD. This patch seems to be as flaky as the previous one upon whom it chooses to unleash its wrath.] ETA: I just tried to install the bastard (after replacing different INI files that had been fiddled with), and I keep getting "Invalid file." I can't think of what I'm missing that would be causing this. Might be gameplay.package, but I'm pretty sure I have the original in there.

One should ALWAYS take the "wait and see" approach with EAxis' crappy patches. You never know what they'll break next. People should have learned their lesson after the first patch further fucked up the already fucked up Launcher and caused many CTDs.
And having patience while waiting on mods to be updated (thus, not installing the patch until then) is a given.
