Does anyone else find themselves having some sort of seizure when watching the stereo work?  KagomeSim and InuyashaSim don't seem to mind the vertigo, but I can't wait for a mod to rid myself of this effect.  Tongue

At least leaving it on most of the time seems to have a positive outcome, especially if they are really into music.
152  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 22, 00:39:04
Hm, I haven't been able to figure out if I can only play the one selfmade sim, or if I can add another one to the town.  Kind of sucks if I can only have one selfmade sim/family per saved town/game.  Yeesh.

Yeah, noticed that long hair sticks through hoodies, too, as has happened in the past with Sims 1 and 2.

Mine have worked properly only a handful of times since first starting the game.

It looks like some of us are getting bugs that others aren't getting, and some are getting the same bugs except in different ways.

I just came from S2C/MTS2 and they're going warn/ban happy over there. I just posted about what things I hope are fixed soon (based on what other people are saying since I can't even play the game) and I got a warning claiming I asked for help installing an illegal copy or helped someone else do so, which I didn't, so I have no idea what's going on. I'll just steer clear from there until the official release date.

Yikes.  It's always nice to receive a warning about something you didn't actually do.

This was asked several pages back, but I never saw a proper response.

Is it just my computer, my copy of the software, or my retardedness that is causing the game to run, AT ULTRA SPEED, at roughly the same or slightly slower pace as Sims1/2 speed 2?  If the game is this excruciatingly slow-paced, it's WORSE than the loading screens from TS2; I can only watch my sim sleep for so long before I want to scoop out my eyes with a spoon.

It could be my computer, I've only got a gig of RAM and am running Vista, but it's not lagging or skipping or indicating in any other way that it's my PC speed causing the problem.  I just have most of the graphics settings on medium.  HALP

I think it's just you.  Mine runs at fast speed just fine.  You don't have nearly enough RAM for Vista + TS3.

No, it isn't just them, and I thought several people have talked about this same thing in this thread?  I'm experiencing it, too, and I have 3 Gigs of RAM.  Nothing else is lagging or choppy; it's just that the speed buttons work only occasionally and only for some people, it seems.

In EA's pictures and video it has water bleed through, so they know about it, they're just wicked lazy.

This should be very apparent after so many years of Sims-related bugs!  Grin

This happens to a handful of the other window coverings as well - for this window, at least. In any case, one window is too many.

Interesting.  Mine shows no bleedthrough.  Actually the only weird "bleedthrough" I'm seeing is the same warped water reflection that others are reporting.  God, does it look strange when my sim walks by water.  I can't believe they didn't fix that...oh wait.
157  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 21, 21:19:19
I wish parts of this were more intuitive: some of the opportunities that come up are a bit of a headscratcher as to how you're supposed to accomplish them.  Like taking your boss's dinner date out for for dinner yourself.  I missed the deadline simply because I couldn't figure out how it was done.

When in the neighborhood view map. at the bottom is the filter panel. If you select "Home and Work"  It shows home, workplace, and appears to also show the location of any current opportunities.

Well, then mine must be bugged because Ethan's home just came up as him being home, not the opportunity I was supposed to complete with him.  There was no indication whatsoever, and I couldn't complete the task anyway.
158  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 21, 20:35:47
If it's supposed to default into that while your sim sleeps or works, then it sure isn't doing its damn job.  Mine works sporadically.
159  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 21, 20:13:20
Well, apparently one of the klepto sims decided to make his/her way onto the forum to justify kleptomania by saying Jesus allows it as long as it's paid for later.  Roll Eyes

Is it just me or is the ultra speed mostly just useless? It always shuts off on me and doesn't tend to go much faster than speed 3 for the brief periods in which it actually stays selected.

Yeah, several (including me) have pointed this out.  As far as I can tell, regular ultra speed is just a tiny bit faster than normal play, fast speed (whatever the middle speed is called again; I never really use it) doesn't seem to work at all, and ultra plus is supposed to be ultra speed that stops when the action your sim is doing is completed...and big whopping surprise -- it doesn't work most of the time.  Sometimes it acts just like ultra (although without the stop), and sometimes it just forces me back over into ultra speed (which can't be intended play, I hope).

New bug?  Has anyone been offered one of the skilling challenges?  Ethan Bunch wanted to pay me to grill his lazy ass some hot dogs and bring them to him.  I did as asked and delivered them to him, but when I got there, it wouldn't allow me to give them to him because I "don't have all of the ingredients (or whatever the hell it said) in my inventory" even though I did as asked.  Another shitty bug or just confusing gameplay?
160  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 21, 17:01:09
I haven't had any problems with getting my female sim to want to woohoo/marry one of the townies (shouldn't be difficult anyway considering that she's 1.) a hopeless romantic and 2.) very flirty and friendly), but sadly she wants to woohoo/marry the premade sim named Pauline Wan (or whatever the hell her name is) who's already engaged.  Which wasn't stopping my sim, but something else made her sadden a bit.

One day, they were hanging out, and Pauline was without baby.  The very next day they hung out, Pauline looked so pregnant, she appeared to be in the freaking third trimester already.  My sim was obviously upset about this although she still rubbed Pauline's tummy.  In any case, tribblebabies have finally infected my game.  I'm starting to wonder if all adult female premades are shipped already pregnant.
161  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Good, the Bad, and the Randomly @Toaded on: 2009 May 20, 19:25:44
Ah, don't forget the buggy game speeds that some appear to be having.  This isn't delusional (maybe...most likely) as I've noted after a few hours of play last night that while my female sim was off watching a soccer game at the stadium, hours were going by at the same pace as the normal speed, yet I had switched it to the fastest.  I played around with the different selections of speed, and this game wasn't having any of that.  Everything stayed at normal speed.

I've yet to have the tribblebabies happen to me, and the speed is the only thing giving me hell.
162  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Resetting Vacation Neighborhoods? on: 2007 October 05, 13:53:28
Well, fuck.  I was afraid of that.

I can take a printscreen of it, but it doesn't look that abnormal, really.  Just a sorority house in the middle of a street, the Sim State Tower in place of the bungalow penthouse, and my freshman class along with their dorm in place of the cheap hotel (along with a lot of weird light blue squares).
163  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Resetting Vacation Neighborhoods? on: 2007 October 05, 00:52:00
(Asked about this at MTS2, but no one's picked it up even after a few hours, so I guess no one has an answer.  Here's hoping for better luck with you smart people.)

OK, really dumb question here. I tried researching, but nothing turned up (I'm so tired right now that I doubt I'm running the right keywords through Google anyway), so I apologize if this has been mentioned elsewhere.

So hooray, after countless stupid "failure to enumerate" errors, I finally got Bon Voyage working properly (Would you believe that I had to find a crack -- a working one; first time I tried, it didn't work -- to be able to play this damn game without problems now?  How stupid is that??). I booked a vacation for the first time, and once arriving, I noticed to my horror that my university neighborhood (my Sim State one, it appears) and the beach neighborhood (Twikki or whatever the hell it's called) have sort of...uh, "melted together". It's mostly the vacation paradise, but it's peppered with a few university houses/dorms (I know, I know -- wtf). Anyone happen to know the proper folder number for the university neighborhoods and the vacation neighborhoods so I can reset them using the ones from my C:/ drive?
164  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: First ever Direct X 9 error. on: 2007 September 25, 20:40:46
It's working fine now (with no CC of any kind; we'll find out about that in a few minutes).  I'm not so sure it was a "corrupted file" or a bad shortcut.  As I said, I had to wipe out some new spyware (that I swear popped up on my system only after BV), and now everything works correctly.  Strange (but not too strange considering this is EA we're talking about here).
165  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: First ever Direct X 9 error. on: 2007 September 25, 15:45:03
Damn, that's too bad because I think I found the reason behind this failure error.

This is either the work of overzealous sniffing by Secorum, and/or naughty EA decided to put spyware on my PC (via that stupid launcher idea).  I had to uninstall everything, and nothing would still install correctly.  Thinking of Battlefield 2142 and the retarded spyware shit EA included, on a whim, I ran Spybot, and surprise, surprise.  Wiped it out, and things are installing correctly so far.

If Secorum decides to be an asshat again though, I don't know what to do (I don't think even YASU is working in this case) because it's not like I can wipe off my husband's UltraISO and Nero.
166  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: First ever Direct X 9 error. on: 2007 September 24, 16:12:21
Well, "Roel" figures that I corrupted a file while installing.  There is no way in hell that this "file corruption" can be happening to numerous people, but in any case, in case anyone else is having this problem, I'm going to uninstall, try the Direct X workaround on the odd chance that it may fix this (though I doubt it), and I'll report back if anything good happens.
167  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: First ever Direct X 9 error. on: 2007 September 22, 17:17:05
From what I just found out, any sort of percussive maintenance should be directed at EAxis.  Apparently, people with this specific card are getting this error, and updating Direct X/drivers doesn't help like it used to.  I am beyond pissed.  I feel like heading over to their headquarters and shoving a few M-80s up Larry Probst's ass.  I just bought this damn card two months ago to relieve myself of the ridiculous blue loop Nvidia shit.

Are there enough people fed up with them willing to start a revolution?

Edit:  Ah, yes.  I got the much anticipated non-solution from some idiot at EA.  First "Roel" thought that I was having issues installing the game, so he gave me the Direct X bypass (which I already knew of) that doesn't work for this issue.  After telling him that, I get a whole "sorry, even though your card should be on the list of supported cards, it's not, so fuck you, we aren't going to help" reply that I was expecting.  I told him that I'm not the only person with this card or this issue and asked him to pass this along to someone for a patch fix (as I've spent hundreds of dollars over the years on their games, so I'd better see a fix for this).

I suppose I shouldn't hold my breath.
168  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / First ever Direct X 9 error. on: 2007 September 22, 04:09:42
Flipping joy! Someone please shoot me. I know I've been pretty lucky with this game, only ever having one problem (the infinite blue loop that eventually got solved), so it figures that my luck would run out with installing the beyond borked Bon Voyage.

Specs:

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ (2.2GHz)
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Page File: 352MB used, 3589MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
(Direct X is reporting no problems found.)
Card name: ATI Radeon X1550
Display Memory: 512.0 MB

First ever Direct X 9 error for me. "Failure to enumerate any Direct X 9 compatible graphics adaptors in this system! Please make sure you have a Direct X 9 compatible graphics adaptor and have installed the latest manufacturer provided driver. Application terminating blah blah blah." Did the obvious first (updating the driver and updating Direct X), but still having this issue. Did some research of my own...unfortunately, the part concerning this in the Sims2Wiki is missing, and everything I turned up dealt with when the game originally came out years ago (outdated graphics cards). Now, my card is supposed to be compatible with this game. It's never failed me yet. It's not technically on the requirements list (falling between the x1300 and x1600 obviously), but it's supposed to be supported.

Anyone got any ideas? Certainly this damn card can't be outdated or incompatible.  Emailed EA about this to get their worthless non-solution.
169  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 22, 04:00:18
Not ridiculous to me, certainly.  Hey, I can fix dinner, clean, or whatever else while letting it load.  Besides, my loading time is not as bad as those with older systems who try to play with 10+ Gigs of downloads.  Their loading time is around an hour or more.
170  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Fucked Up Orchard Tree Fix for BV p0 on: 2007 September 22, 01:16:59
Is it ever coming out?  I seem to recall multiple delays and push-backs with it's release date.

Ha, I still can't wait to see how they deal with custom content considering I've heard all sorts of shit about that.
171  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 22, 01:13:52
I have 21.8GB.  Longest load time for me is around 20 minutes (I go elsewhere while it loads, so it's no big deal).  Of course, I have a nice fast finely-tuned-and-taken-care-of PC.  I love being a comp geek.  Grin
172  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Fucked Up Orchard Tree Fix for BV p0 on: 2007 September 21, 20:39:48
Ah, you probably have that correct, Jase.  I knew something was up when I noticed the gigantic memory leak problems I was getting after installing Pets long ago.  I'd forgotten about Sims 3 coming out in '09, so yes, giving this to the Peewee League to code explains a few things.

I used to buy every damn thing EAxis put out for this game, but fuck it.  I'd much rather take my chances with a cracked copy than spend $40 on a buggy piece of shit destined to put me in a straight-jacket trying to decipher it.  And hell, it's not just this game.  NBA Live '07 for the 360 came borked right out of the box.  Game play was fine...until you tried to challenge someone online.  No, screw that notion because all you received were connection time-out errors.  And a fix?  Well, no.  EA decided to fix it for the PS3 version, but 360 owners were left without.  No patch, nothing.  Basically, a big "Thank you for forking over $60; now piss off."

And the infinite blue loop problem?  Bad Nvidia drivers, shoddy game engine, or both?  You decide.  I fixed that problem by installing an ATI card.  Bah, you see my love for this company.

In any case, thanks Pescado for this.
173  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maybe you can solve this. on: 2007 May 22, 00:33:38
Well, originally, I think I had the 84.21 drivers and then had a 78.01 driver, but upped it to 91.31 to play another game.  77, huh?  Any recommendations?

I'm trying the program, too, by the way.  Thanks for that.
174  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maybe you can solve this. on: 2007 May 21, 23:54:18
I've done this and even done the trick to force the card to do Pixel Shader 1.4 (whatever it was, can't remember now) because I'd thought it was a shading problems, but alas, did nothing for me. Sad

I've tampered with different game settings, too, but the weird stuff still happens.

I know memory might help some things, but my husband isn't convinced since another gamer told him that this pc should be able to handle the game and its EPs just fine.  Undecided
175  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maybe you can solve this. on: 2007 May 21, 21:52:07
Yeah, I tried the "force 2.0" card-crippling technique a while back, to no avail.

I think I'll stay away from Nvidia after this.  Now if I can figure out what a good ATI card would be for this system.

Also, I hope it's just the damn card that's the problem and nothing else.  That would actually be a relief.
