26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Breeding stock in the sim bin for Indie Stone on: 2009 July 22, 04:42:46
Depends on what you consider 'interesting'... Here is a sample from my own game, just random 'odd for the sake of oddness' sims.

Here's a son:

And a daughter:

(I can get more offspring pics on demand, this guy has over 30 kids in my game. Because, dammit, I'm going to have my hood of freaky looking aliens, abduction or no.)

In non-alien, but still alien, there's this one:

John Smith - attached below

I really need to make a second attempt at this one though, made him before the smiling in CAS was eradicated, and I was never happy with that nose. Apparently I did already fix the mouth, and the nose is slightly improved also.

One of his sons:

Dave Smith - attached below

...

I can upload any of these if anyone wants them.

I went for the optional 'opposite of freedom' theme, and tried to build an oppressive castle type of lot. Complete with tower 'cells'.

Lot price: $71,591 (wanded)
Bedrooms: One with expensive double bed; one with two expensive single beds; four cheap single beds in the cells; twin nursery.
Bathrooms: One with toilet and bath; three with toilet, shower, sink; four toilets in the cells.

Download it here. (Note: I have all EPs and SPs.)

Is there any means of handling this outside of jumping through hoops and doing a bunch of console commands and town editing? Because if so that's a pain in the butt and I think I will institute a Chinese still one child policy from now on to not have to go through all that.

I really don't think it's unreasonable for the parents to give a moving out adult child a chunk of their funds, particularly if they helped contribute to it in the first place.
Select an actual HOUSE to move into. Don't choose "kick out". Pick the "House" button and buy them a nice, or not so nice, house. Kick Out is for people you don't like very much, and thus you boot them out onto the street with nothing but the clothes on their back, and leave them to earn their own way up from total and utter poverty. Or, you know, if you don't care, you could just let them Kev and Alice it on their own. Up to you.

My problem is I couldn't select a house. The menu said $0 were available and I wasn't finding any way to change that. It wants to put ALL the funds in the playable household and does not seem to give me an option to put a portion of the household funds over to the sim or sims moving out, but who will not be the main playable household for the time being.

Or am I doing something wrong here? I'm just not seeing where I have the ability to give the party moving out any money at all. It seems stuck on zero, so obviously I can't select a house.

You're doing something wrong.  You're thinking, 'I don't want to make them my active house'.  The active house gets the money.  So you move out some sims, select them as the active house, then they get the funds in the move out menu so then yes you *can* buy them a house.  And once you move them out you just switch back to the family you were playing before.

What? No. I moved out sims from one lot into another - the sims moving out went with $0, but on the move-out screen I was able to choose them a house, and off they went. The active household remained the active household, and the moving out sims only took the cost of the house from the active household.
29  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 12, 13:24:09
I've been wondering, if you designate a lot 'ancestral', does it just stop move-outs, or does it also encourage sims to move back 'home' if the lot is empty? For instance, say the Goth family proceeds another generation or two, and spreads out across the hood. If the ones who stayed home die off and leave the lot vacant, would any of the off-lot Goths be likely to move back to the Goth Manor? Or would the ancestral designation prevent them from splitting off in the first place?
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Does the Vegetarian Trait affect anything besides food choices? on: 2009 July 11, 22:54:42
You can duplicate books with the omni plant by the science facility (or at home, if you've got them) but there doesn't appear to be a way to give them to friends and family in other lots. This is stupid, because, if anyone is going to want a copy of Johnny's first book, it'll be grandma who lives down the road.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apocalypse! How many are left? on: 2009 July 08, 22:25:00
After TS3 was officially released, after playing it for a couple of weeks, I actually went back to TS1 for a bit, because I never did play those last two EPs properly. By the time I had room for them (my old TS1 drive was all of 4GB) I also had TS2.

Socialising was a pain in TS1, compared to TS3, where it's just dull. TS1 doesn't seem playable at all without hacks, but I was playing TS3 just fine without hacks, pre-awesomemod. (Comparing two single-sim households.)

Never did get around to dropping my TS1 'self-sim' back in, but I'm sure it'd suck. The TS3 version is the most-like-me version of all three, being actually recognisable by people who know me in meatspace. Apparently I am made of pudding. (This also means I am too creeped out to play TS3 me. It's too real, and yet, not real. It's disturbing.)

What's strange is, I never even considered going back to TS2. I dropped back in a bit near the end of last month, started working on the House of Fail, but I still have to add windows and decorate. It's just not pulling me in.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Gardening and fertilizing on: 2009 July 08, 21:49:42
If you click 'harvest', the sim will proceed to harvest anything they can, until they either run out of harvestables on that lot or are directed to stop. It's possible the sim harvested an apple tree and a lime tree.
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / World of Puddings / Re: Faizah 2.0: More images than ever. Now with ManFaizah! on: 2009 July 05, 19:58:40
ManFaizah Name: David Wilson

Slightly different facial structure to female Faizah, most notably the jaw. Does not translate well to female. If you want a male Faizah for breeding purposes, I recommend changing the original post Faizah to male.

Attached here because the combined file size is over 640K.
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / World of Puddings / Re: Faizah 2.0: More images than ever. on: 2009 July 04, 21:50:42
Well, the sim definitely has my nose (my easily turned into pudding nose) and my cheekbones and my hair, but the jawline is less manly in sim-form. I couldn't get it to look right.

36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 July 01, 06:57:25
Not quite as difficult as fitting a car in a mailbox, but I had a sim rummaging through bins. By the time he'd collected every gem and metal, purely through rummaging, he'd also found three of these:

37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / World of Puddings / Re: Inge's Pudding on: 2009 June 29, 16:46:46
Quick screenshot from CAS:

It deposits the sim under My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims all nice and ready to upload.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Captain Swoopties 50/50 Gender mod on: 2009 June 29, 16:03:51
That's what you have a problem with? Seriously? When sims can have babies with ghosts, and even have ghost-babies, it's the 'fruit influences gender'?

The gender foods thing is really only playing on pre-existing superstitions, it's not like they're the first people to think it'd be neat to be able to choose the gender of babies. There was one man in the news not too long ago who thought that he would get a son if he smoked pot and didn't bathe. And he's been trying this method for the past thirty-odd years. That's dedication. While I doubt his chances at getting a son, I don't think he's getting any more daughters, either.
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The types of grave stones on: 2009 June 28, 16:39:49
That makes sense. I drowned a 12 with a career LTW, so she obviously hadn't fulfilled it, but she got a tall spire grave. (Epic lifespan, points are easy to accumulate)

Quick shot of the three different shapes of graves:
40  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: June 2009 on: 2009 June 28, 13:16:36
It's been a while since I looked closely at them (probably about when I got Nightlife) but I plopped them down in my building hood to take a look. I think maybe one of the two-story ones?
Those basically have nothing really WRONG with them. Even the kitchens are nicely prepared for full enclosure, right down to the dividing lines carved on the floor for the job. They convert to AwesomeSpec Lite very easily.

Yeah, like I said, last time I actually looked at these was around Nightlife. I had no idea what I was doing back then.

42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: types of gemstones? on: 2009 June 27, 18:53:37
Mad Scientists, both of them. The mother was married to a sim that has reached level 10 in both Journalism and Law Enforcement (as well as several other careers... and is yet to become an adult. Epic lifespan is epic.) but they shouldn't inherit anything from him, he's not their father.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: types of gemstones? on: 2009 June 27, 18:41:40
No, teens can definitely rummage in the neighbours' bins, the option is there for both of the teens in my current household. (One Neurotic, Absent-Minded, Easily Impressed, Green Thumb and the other Insane, Loner, Evil, Artistic. The second teen also has the option on the home bin.) So it's not linked to career, as far as I can tell. (But the career might enable it for sims that otherwise can't?)
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: types of gemstones? on: 2009 June 27, 17:55:35
My sims that have been able to rummage through their own bins have all had the insane trait (there may be other traits that also allow this) but I've been able to send all sims (12 and up, haven't tried with 6s) to rummage in the neighbours' bins.
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 June 27, 17:28:47
In another thread, I shared a picture of triplet 12s. The 12 screenshot was taken while I was testing something else, in a duplicate save. I've just now gotten back to the original game, and I was surprised at how they turned out as children. (I didn't really pay attention the first time around as they weren't part of my experiment.)

As 6s:

As 12s:

The first one has his father's face shape, and his mother's features. Also, he's an unlucky evil genius, so he's my favourite so far. The middle one seems to be a clone of his poorly-made CAS father. The last one has his mother's face with his father's nose.

First day of school:
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: types of gemstones? on: 2009 June 27, 14:20:54
I once found plutonium when I had an insane Mad Scientist sim rummage through her own rubbish.
47  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 - Anyone see a child skill building hack? on: 2009 June 26, 22:17:39
The child-oven is in TS3, and I think they do gain cooking from it.
48  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: June 2009 on: 2009 June 26, 22:10:21
It's been a while since I looked closely at them (probably about when I got Nightlife) but I plopped them down in my building hood to take a look. I think maybe one of the two-story ones?

The darker one with the high foundation I can remember playing, and disliking, but the white one has a more interesting set of exterior walls.

Inside, it's actually not that bad. The rear walls are simple right-angles, a fairly box-shaped house, if not for those windows on the front. I can take floorplan screenshots later if people want, but it's pretty simple.

Possibly with keeping the front stairs as a rule?

The interior on this one could use some work, which is the point of this challenge, but it's not impossibly cramped or anything. I can't honestly remember now why I hated these.
49  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Making Playable Ghosts on: 2009 June 26, 20:55:48
Except they (apparently) can't die. It'd be nice if they stayed at the age they died at, but they age. If you bring back too many (and don't feed them ambrosia) you'd wind up with a hood full of undying see-through elders before too long.

Immortality through death.
50  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: June 2009 on: 2009 June 26, 20:11:29
I'd rather stick with Sims 2 lots, even seeing how quiet it's been in here. (I am actually working on this one, should have it up before the month is out, if all goes well.)

I wouldn't mind also poking around at some Sims 3 lots now and then, though. (And eventually we're going to run out of TS2 lots...)

Have we done any of the lot-binned houses that came with Nightlife yet? Those are pretty small.
