Have you set the lot type correctly to some sort of club or nightspot?  I have no problems in my custom hood with mixologists or club musicians.  They all do their jobs.
52  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Squashed baby on: 2011 February 14, 04:01:13
It looks like a pig.  Name it Wilbur.  Is there a babbycue for puddingspawn?
53  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can my game be better if I upgrade my machine? on: 2011 February 12, 04:29:06
I play just fine with a 3.6Ghz P4 dual core machine, XP pro, 2Gb of RAM, and ATI 3850 video card.  Like witch, I will stick with XP for the older machine.
54  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can my game be better if I upgrade my machine? on: 2011 February 12, 02:53:11
I'll check the video card choice with a friend who runs a computer shop, but knows nothing of Sims. Trif of Crazy Town is also suggesting an OS upgrade given I run XP 'la ordinaire. Any comments?

Yes, it will probably run better under Vista than XP. And even better under 7.

Why even raise the issue of Vista?  Wasn't 7 released because Vista made people want to hurt themselves and others?
55  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Jfadeworld - A New Pudding Destination on: 2011 February 05, 19:58:33
So I have loaded it up, and it is AWESOME. I am a bit weary of highrises, just because there were so many issues with Bridgeport; so far it has been smooth sailing. I have noticed that the library near the trailer park [which I fucking LOVE] doesn't have skill books.
A library without skillbooks is about as useful as tits on a bull.

On the other hand, considering the reading and search skills of some of the n00bs that show up here, I suspect this sort of library is more and more the norm in some places.
56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: High resolution = Prettier game, but impossible to navigate catalog- Workaround? on: 2011 February 05, 19:56:34
I play at 1920x1080 and the UI is really really tiny, it doesn't grow to compensate or anything. I was hoping a higher res would mean bigger thumbnails (though now that I think about it, a lower res gets bigger thumbnails usually, I had it backwards) but instead I've got these tiny, worthless little things and it's impossible to navigate the catalog without leaning close to the screen or clicking each individual object to see the expanded view.

I'm still incredulous about this statement - how long have you been using computers?  Higher resolution means you can fit more on the screen, hence things look smaller.  This is not rocket science or brain surgery.  Therefore the UI will naturally be smaller - this is supposed to be a good thing, so the UI does not fill the whole screen and block your view of the game, although considering the look of the sim in the picture, that might be what you're aiming for.

I suggest using a straightforward 800x600.  You can have a nice big UI and will never have to see that sim again.  Your game will look like crap, but run like melted butter.
57  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Can someone help a newb? I'm prepared to be flamed. on: 2011 January 13, 17:51:35
Most of the copypastes in that article seem to be written by Twallan fans or people who couldn't manage to get AM to work (i.e. could not follow basic instructions).

Also, I am holier than thou.
58  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Can someone help a newb? I'm prepared to be flamed. on: 2011 January 11, 23:45:49
It is a fascinating MATY fact that the amount of help provided is reduced exponentially in relation to even a minute amount of flamage.  You are flamed = extremely little help.

We like to think that this is because of the n00b/tard in question, and not due to any attribute of our own, unless we really want to acknowledge that we are, essentially, that sort of person.  Actually, what am I saying?  We like to acknowledge that all the time.

All the same, the answers sought are available and not hidden.
59  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Neighborhood, No Mail on: 2010 December 29, 01:46:59
I get the paperboy/girl, but have not seen a mailman (or femailman) in my game in about forever.  I was not aware this was a problem.  Mail arrives, bills are paid, who cares?
60  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: No celebs? on: 2010 December 08, 19:41:03
In any case, knowing how these games work, if it was possible for non-celeb sims to randomly become celebrities, it would likely be the case that all sims in a 'hood would be celebrities within 3 generations.  Considering how my current 'hood is going, this will likely happen in any case.
61  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Master of Seduction isn't working now on: 2010 December 08, 19:36:33
For example, in my experience, Master of Seduction interactions will still not result in woohoo if the target is too tired or hungry to bother (i.e. bars in the red).  This supports the "try other targets" advice, or try your target again later.
62  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AM is Borking Vampires. on: 2010 November 30, 02:33:59
I was fully prepared to go on a blood sucking rampage until I found out you have to get friendly with the victim and then ask them if you can bite them.  A bear doesn't ask you if it can eat you before it eats you.

Quite so.  I was hoping you'd get on with it, myself.  Dark Trepie is the only vampire in my Twinbrooks hood, and he does nothing except work and collapse on the floor.  No vampires populate the vampire lounge, and certainly nobody is drinking anyone else (at least not in the vampire way, to my knowledge).  Perhaps if I have Dark Trepie buy the vampire lounge, it would at least lend some credence to the name.
63  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AM is Borking Vampires. on: 2010 November 20, 01:15:31
The good news is that at least they don't sparkle. I think we may have been given the 'True Blood' version of vampires as opposed to the 'Twilight' version. yay.

That's okay, but I WANTED the "Bloodsucking Fiends" version.
64  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Whats the difference between awesomemod and ea story progression? on: 2010 September 30, 01:06:25
Yeah, you don't get threads like we had in the old days.  Back in the day we had real carnage.
65  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Jealous much? on: 2010 August 30, 03:33:31
I was wondering about the AM jealousy too, as I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any in my game despite trying to mildly provoke it.

I'd quite like jealousy to kick in around the going steady level for the majority of sims, although it is logical that Commitment Issues only get jealous during marriage. I think of my Hopeless Romantics as stalkers and would like to see them get jealous as soon as they become love interests.

Odd.  In my game, if sims are married and their love interest snogs with someone else in front of them, they get a hate on for the other sim, and auto-queue an action to scold their love interest.  Without the long-term memories of TS2, however, this is reasonably short lived and manifests as a reduction in STR and LTR scores (no permanent memory of "my spouse is a total fuckup").
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Still planing with TS2 anyone ? on: 2010 June 05, 13:18:45
i think to TS3... I feel ... betrayed Sad

There's a fucking shift key on your keyboard for a reason jerkass!  Fucking use it!

But for the topic at hand, I have never, ever, ever, played Sims 3.  Never bought it, or arred it.  Don't want to, and never will.  The expansion packs are shit.  Everything about the game is shit.  It's just a gigantic, steaming pile of shit.

Sod off, JerseygirlZERO.  IIRC, Max carries the ESL trait, and is one of our only esteemed undead members.  You, on the other hand, have not passed the DO WE KNOW YOU?; DO WE LIKE YOU? bar, as yet (longtime lurker or not).  It is not your place to ramble on about shift keys.  In this context, your personal opinion of the pudding is irrelevant and uninteresting.  It is also not the topic at hand.  The topic at hand is "are we playing (spelling correction there, Max) with TS2?"

I would agree with Pescado that the pudding is not mature.  I still enjoy my TS2 game, primarily because there are a wide range of things sims can do in that game that are not available in TS3.  I was always fond of the supernaturals in TS2.  Additionally, I had not finished exploring all the possibilities that TS2 offered before TS3 came out, so there are things that my sims have not tried yet.  I am going to keep both TS2 and pudding loaded for some time to come.
67  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 04, 03:11:26
My sim died. I don't know if it's because of that, but I can't move in another household. I click the checkmark and it goes grey and nothing happens. I have to go to edit town and try again, but it won't work. It doesnt work if I choose a household either.

The issue of move household seizing up and not allowing move-out or move-in is not specific to the Ambitions EP.  This has occurred in one of my households prior to WA (base TS3 game only).  I am not sure what causes this, but it is not likely caused by something directly related to Ambitions.

To get rid of the problem, I simply zorched the entire hood and started over.  You may wish to try a less "drastic" solution, of course, but I bet my method is faster.

And they say people lack reading skills.  Why?
69  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: loading problem on: 2010 April 27, 01:22:25
edit: If for some reason my system decides to restore to a previous point would this affect my save files?

What do you mean, "if for some reason...".  The system should not spontaneously restore to a previous point without something being wrong.  Sounds like you have some computer issues beyond the Sims here soldier.
70  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Patch 1.11/2.6/3.2 on: 2010 April 21, 01:14:45
I am now removing any awesome mods I have because I do not support this kind
of ass line support system! ... Damn you wolves!

Unfortunately, without your support to the supportive ass line which can not support you without your support, we, the wolves, can not provide the support to the ass line that is necessary to support you in supporting us.  This is, of course, unsupportable.
71  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Patch 1.11/2.6/3.2 on: 2010 April 17, 12:59:16
Again, if people would learn to use that bar labeled "Search:", or the link "Advanced Search", people wouldn't have to answer the same questions over and over again.

Yes, they would. Forum searches (regardless of the specific forum software used) are inherently hit and miss affairs. For example, I did a few searches just now, and in each one of them, the first page of results for each search was dominated by posts chastising another user for not using the search to find it.

This is a point, I think.  There are a number of indiscriminate sporkers around who will apparently spork any question at all, regardless of its real merit.  This clutters the boards with unhelpful stuff like the "USE SEARCH!!11" threads.  At the same time, we are building a rather nice library of threads in which people converse with 'tards, vote in polls about 'tards, complain about 'tards, and so forth.  These may be incredibly helpful to someone, if we can ever figure out what they're good for.  You take the good with the bad, I suppose.
72  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Patch 1.11/2.6/3.2 on: 2010 April 17, 02:16:23
Honestly, this is getting beyond silly, with all the "I'm new here, please don't savage me" posts.

PROTIPS - Here's how it works n00bs:

If you post an intelligent question, demonstrating that you tried with some level of competence above that of a squashed banana to search the forum for the answer, but came up blank and so you are asking if someone might have the information you seek, then the long-time regular MATYzens will likely treat you with a certain level of (what passes for) kindness and technical questions will be answered.  Less "seasoned" MATYzens and random others will still savage you for sport.  You are not in a tame zone or a zoo.  This is the wilds.

If you make a reasonable post, just like in the scenario above, including the lack of a squashed banana, but include a cute "I'm new, hospitalized, demented, etc., please don't hurt me" post, you will likely be savaged first, and then we'll forget whatever question you actually came to ask.  It is so easy to get distracted.
73  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: no woohoo on: 2010 April 13, 22:26:52
no i just want it removed for my kid to play without asking questions! is there a way to remove a specific option from conversation?

I suspect this would be a largely futile approach.  The kid is likely to know that sims are supposed to have babies and that this happens through woohoo.  I suggest the 0-12 finishes pupating, as noted, or you have a quick convo with it.  Either that, or follow the instructions on the box that indicate that the game is to be kept out of reach of children.
74  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can I move a family to another neighborhood? on: 2010 March 21, 18:47:03
Assuming you pack a fambly with all of its relatives, this should work in TS3. If a fambly link is broken, I do not know what will happen.

I would suggest then that pussy try it and report back on results.
75  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Surprise, surprise - major borkage. Yeey. on: 2010 March 10, 02:18:47
I would concur with The_Goddess - fixall did not help in this instance, where no moveout is possible, either through the phone or using edit neighborhood.  Ultimately, the family glitched gameplay causing irreparable freezes.  The family had to be zorched.

Fortunately, I had the presence of mind to zorch the entire 'hood and start over in a new 'hood.  This did solve the freeze and moveout problems.  Unfortunately, it did not produce any knowledge about whether simply zorching the one family might have saved the original 'hood.  I realize that this is, therefore, less helpful to you.
