One of the spirits in my game had hidden in the frieze between two stories of a house. You might want to check there.

What happens if the sim speaks to itself?

That will create a tear in the space-time continuum. Obviously it ends in a BFBVFS.

I believe that the wall pattern can be found under paneling in the base game. I'm not so sure about the windows though.they may come from one of the store sets.
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Exit Stage Left, Please. on: 2010 March 08, 11:13:36
I had a similar issue with Springville, or so I thought. My game runs much smoother after decrapifying and converting sims3packs to dbcs and getting rid of the package files. Another thing that helped was to get rid of some of my old saves, as I too tend to save frequently and thus had around 40 saves clogging up my files. However, I noticed last night that my game still freezes up. I paused the game and let it sit in the background for a few seconds while I perused the internet for answers. Ten seconds later the game was ok. Towards the end of the session the lags were more frequent. I can only assume that it has to do with my graphics card overheating or my power supply not beeing able to handle the load since it seems to be a build up over hours. I do not know if my game lag is the same as yours, but you could try one of my solutions and see if it helps.
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Springville on: 2010 February 17, 10:57:00
I really like Fargo, so it is reassuring to hear it may be other issues creating the lag. I wonder though how long the NPC spawning is supposed to occur? I have played the first Fargo copy for almost a whole generation now. Admittedly, I like to put down many houses in my worlds, so that might be the cause of the choppiness. I hope not, though.

@The_Goddess: Have you given any thought as to whether or not you will be putting up the CAW files for Fargo on the site? Not to be a nag or anything, but I truly enjoy this world and it would be nice to be able to edit it to my own particular preferences.
35  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Springville on: 2010 February 16, 15:48:10
I second that request. The town is nicely decorated, but since I tend to keep a variety of lots in my sims towns that are too big or too small for Springville, it would be nice to be able to customize it further. Great job, either way.

Edit: I have experienced some issues after installing and playing Fargo/Springville and I wonder if it could be the result of bad routing in the neighbourhood itself. I read over at MTS that some people were having lag issues and their experience amounted to the fact that some sims simultaneously tried to route through the world and since the paths have been chopped off at certain points the game starts to lag heavily.

If the roads do not connect properly, the crosswalk will not materialize. That is, when the road has connected properly to an intersection, the crosswalk will appear automatically.

Update on the blue lot issue:

After having done the hackdance today I tracked the culprit causing the blue lots in my hood down to this file: 0xd535a1c25e231c854401ac15e7ae1bb2.package
The funny thing is that it was one file from the Riverview bundle. That is, one of the files installed when installing the neighbourhood Riverview. Taking out that file removed the blue lot issue. I have yet to find out what it does to the game in terms of gamepley though. If anyone else does a search for the same file and it is corrupt, I suppose we can conclude that EA is a dipshit hoebag for not checking their own content before creating a patch.

BTW, for anyone who does not know where to find the file, check under My Documents/Electronic Arts/DCBackup, and only if you have installed Riverview.

Edit: Ok, so I sent a sim from a newly created game off to vacation. His home is located in Riverview and after removing the bad file, some glitches showed up. The sims names and houses looks like World/Riverview/Sims: Name/World Riverview Sims:Last Name for instance. I suppose that has something to do with the fact that a large part of the original file has been removed. Either way, Riverview is banned from my game for the time being. There were no blue lots to be found however, in China nor in Riverview. I only played for a few minutes, enough to check the blue lot issue, so I have no idéa what the long-term consequences are for deleting the file.
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 December 10, 06:59:10
Like all of you I'm plagued with the blue lots and am trying all your suggestions. Maybe I missed something along the way but everyone seems to be having problems with their hoods in my case its not my towns they are fine its my vacation locations. I do have cc but removed the problem ones etc. I send a sim on holiday, they return home everything is OK my town functions well but when I send my sim back to the location its basically covered in blue lots both houses and community. I have not edited the vacation locations theres no cc at all. I have only used one sim and shes dressed in the WA stuff. China has been a real problem now France is blue lotting as well. There are only two or three local houses to be seen. Its bizaree because Sunset Valley and Riverview are fine. Does anyone else have a vacation problem but their hoods are fine?

I had one save game do that yesterday, but I put it down to the fact that I had recently installed some fucked up cc. Upon removing the bad cc, the game was back to normal. I haven't had the time yet to send the sims on vacation a second time and check if the problem persists.

The more I find out about TSR, the more I feel it's an unending cluster fuck of drama, pulling the wool over innocent customer's eyes, and moderator to moderator ass patting.

Kinda like deviantArt!

Much better.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bugs in WA on: 2009 December 10, 06:33:19
Another thing just started happening since switching active families today for the first time since getting WA. I noticed that from the map view, the house I just built for my second family and the house I built and played since installing WA were not showing up at all. They looked like empty lots. If I zoomed in, they'd show ok, but the other strange thing is when I zoomed in on the first family's house, I could see in their house without my guy going there and visiting. That's not supposed to happen. I'm going to try playing again to see if it was just a quick glitch or not.

I noticed that last night when I built a house in Riverview and after zooming out in live mode the old house which stood there before was showing instead of the new one. I have no idéa what is causing this though.
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bugs in WA on: 2009 December 07, 06:59:32
I did the quest for Pangu's axe myself and the sims took the axe but could still not finish the quest. Due to other wonkiness in the game I decided to start a new save. Haven't tried that particular quest again though.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: can't drag plate to inventory on vacation on: 2009 December 05, 11:51:01
You do not have to end your vacation for that. Stick the plate in the fridge and then open it again and press take all. The dish will be in your sims inventory.
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 December 04, 08:32:05
When I first encountered the problem I had patched all the way up to WA thus making my game version 2.2. I had just reinstalled both The Sims 3 and WA and because of difficulties in making the launcher work, I had taken out my DCBackup folder from before reinstalling and reinserted it in the newly installed game by taking out the contents in the DCBackup folder and putting it into the mods/packages folder. I started the game up, loading a new game and got blue lots everywhere. By doing the binary search I found the culprit and deleted the bad cc, as I think I have told before. When I started the new game that originally had blue lots, the issue was gone. I am wondering if it can have something to do with the fact that I did not save my game upon finding out there was blue lots in it? Therefor, by not saving, you can avoid blowing up the new save game. I haven't tried loading any of my old saves yet, since I want to make sure the game is stable enough for them not to break.
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 December 03, 10:34:29
I managed to track down a piece of cc that caused the cutout in the ground. The problem is I haven't been able to make any cc install tools to work so I have no idea what the cc actually was, as I took it out of the DCBackup folder. I'll try and get the launcher or 3viewer working to see what the faulty piece of custom content there was. None of my sims had any problems with things going awol in the inventories after returning from vacation.

I find it very funny that the previous poster had the time to chastisize tech helpers in this thread claiming that they aren't helpful enough, all the while not contributing anything of value to the posters questions. Yes, people are mean here, your observations have been stated by numerous others and yes, you will probably feel ashamed in the morning. If you have any information of value tomorrow that might shed some light on the issue, please return then. Until the sun rises you better keep hugging that vodka bottle and hope for the hazy alcoholic bliss to lull you to sleep. And for the rest of the posters in here, please utilize CAPS LOCK and capitalize your letters. It is far easier on the eyes when skimming through posts.

On topic: the four cache files that you can delete will spawn again once you start the game anew. I have no idéa as to what is causing the red blur in the game, but I gather it is not a good thing. Maybe someone else has thoughts about what is going on in your game, graywolf.

piratesforlunch: have you checked that you have deleted the framework when taking out awesomemod? And just so you know, there are other core mods out there, so if you wish to keep your cc, you'll just have to do a search on google. Also, if you are going to pick files and taking them out willynilly, you better make some backups for them in a folder somewhere, preferrably on the desktop. Otherwise you could end up with a totally fubarred game and no way of putting the pieces back together.
Just one question:
Quote
it's either i play with the awesomemod and cc (which i must have) or nothing at all, only base game junk, which i hate.
Didn't you say you couldn't get the game to work, at all? I r confuzzled.
47  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Warning message on: 2009 November 18, 19:18:04
The patch is mainly for those who don't want the whole expansion but still wants to utilize the new shinies, such as the basement tool. It is known to not install correctly and create all sorts of problems, i.e. it is behaving badly. I suggest that you search the forum for advice, as there are a few threads about it floating around.
48  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Warning message on: 2009 November 18, 18:52:08
If you install the expansion pack and keep awesomemod in, your game is fubared. Please read other forum threads on this issue. If that is not your issue, I have no idéa what you are talking about.
49  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New AwesomeMod Request Thread on: 2009 November 02, 22:09:18
Ditto. That was one of my first suggestions during game trials in May/June: add fertilize all  & (not as necessary) but also talk to all. The ability to hire a gardener would be a huge plus as well.

I'd second this. It is annoying that you can harvest all plants but not fertilize all. It would be a good thing if the sim were only allowed to use the stack of fertilizers you tell them to use, so they won't take the life fruits etc.

Currently I'm playing a sim who has the"Heartbreaker" lifetime wish--meaning she wants to be the girlfriend of 10 different sims. I'm finding it a little tedious that she apparently has to breakup with one partner before becoming the girlfriend of the other i.e., apparently the option to propose doesn't appear. Her relationships are doing just fine so for a more realistic storyline she'd be ok until (or unless) she was caught. It is a time consuming ltw but she is doing quite well (self-employed) as a gardener which keeps her free to pursue romantic interests.

Of course in TS2 you could be engaged to more than one person at a time (just pray they never cross paths) so I'm wondering if this can be adjusted in this game.

This is the reason I haven't played many romance sims in the sims 3. If people can lie and have multiple partners at the same time, why can't the sims?

I would like to chime in with the NPC sims not actively engaging in activities. Mine have been acting like robots for quite some time now. Some stand still for hours on end, not doing anything. Is this a setting problem within the game or a fluke?
50  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Questions about The Sims 3 Launcher on: 2009 November 01, 16:55:09
Mmm... Ok, J. M. Pescado... You really got me confused... I don't know what you're talking about. Sad

Translation from Pes's post: You can delete the .sims3pack files in DCBackup and in Downloads. They will still be found in the game and you have also deleted files that essentially only wastes space. Do not delete the dcdbX files in DCCache. This will cause the files to disappear from your game. Got it?
