26  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Constant momentary freezing. Stupid BV? Stupid computer? Or something else? on: 2007 November 28, 08:52:47
In the same topic (freezing/slow-down) since BV I have an incredible lag each time sims stop playing chess (the moment they take the pieces back into the chess table), it goes from 2 to 5 seconds (real time). Any idea/advice concerning that particular lag ? Thanks.
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I get a family re-union memory? on: 2007 November 27, 13:44:12
I don't know the exact requirements for the family reunion memory, but I do know that you need to throw a party. I think any kind of party will do, not only marriage, birthday or golden anniversary.
I'd say the key is in family members from different households.
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Some Newbie Queries Regarding Hair/Eye Genetics on: 2007 November 18, 21:57:04
You should try to open your default replacement eyes in SimPe to verify it is really default replacement (just textures in the package) and use the simdna cheat to verify the DNA of some test sims with these eyes. If they are correct default replacements, the DNA should show the Maxis code for the color and the maxis name (51c4a750-c9f4-4cfe-801c-898efc360cb7 and uuface_eye_green for maxis green eyes for example).
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Some Newbie Queries Regarding Hair/Eye Genetics on: 2007 November 17, 09:18:46
In my experience, the line genetic in hair does not matter. All that matter is that the hair is correctly binned, so it passes the hair color information, instead of the custom hairstyle information, as you seem to have discover all by yourself by searching.
For accurate testing of your hair (to see if you did not forget something while binning them, and to see if they worked correctly according to the color dominance) I suggest you start using the simdna cheat. It is quite useful when you start testing sims genetics. It work in CAS, so that's a real plus for testing, but it requires the testing cheats to be in your userstartup.cheat (even turning it on from the neighborhood before entering CAS is not enough for the simdna cheat to work).
In CAS it also requires you give a name to the sim you're testing so you need to validate the breeding result to go to the screen where you give it a name. But you don't have to save it afterward and clog your file directory, you can discard it when you have its genetic information.
The cheat is used like that (without the quotes of course) : "simdna X", where X is the name of the sim. If it is more than one word (for example the uni prof : Prof. X) you need to put the name between quotes, like that : "simdna "Prof. X". It is not case sensitive, by the way.

For the end of your post, concerning you default eye being dominant, I'm stumped : default eye should only be texture remplacements, so they should not change the way the maxis genetics work...
I really don't know what to say, except ; please verify yours are default, and not a set you're using instead the maxis eyes but that does not remplace them.

Hope I had helped you, and hope you understand everything as I mean it, it is hard for me to explain complicated things in english. Don't hesitate to ask for more explanation if needed. I can also provide pictures if you really need them to better understand my explanations.

It is a BV problem.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "Furious with..." - Why? on: 2007 November 14, 13:49:10
Just one thing, sloppyhousewife : it is mopping the pee puddle that makes the neatfreak furious, not just seeing the other sim pee himself.
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "Furious with..." - Why? on: 2007 November 13, 08:44:30
I have some neatfreak sim that became furious with the npc penguin after mopping its pee puddle on the edge of the lot. It results in a blank flaming thought bubble (as the npc penguin has no icon) and (that's what made me realise what was happening) a blank want to see someone's ghost (the yellow star shape in the back groung and the little ghost in the bottom right corner) which say "see ghost of *npc penguin" on mouseover.
Eventually it disappears, like any other furiousness....
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there any hack for this? on: 2007 November 05, 15:34:36
There is also something very weird with nannies and changing appearance.  Every time I've changed the look of a nanny they ended up with a blank face the first time; either completely missing, or a template 1, S1, no eyes, no eyebrow look.  Second time I make them over it works, but they end up with a double character file (N001_User00102.package and N001_User00102.1.package).
I only have the problem with nannies, but I've had it with ALL nannies.

You remind me : I have this same exact problem (change appearance make them revert to a blank face the first time I made them over, and they have 2 character files (but I did not pay attention whether the change appearance thing make the double character files appear or they ( double character files) exist even before attempting to change appearance)) with waiters, and I also notice that wolves (regular ones, not Leader of the pack) also have 2 character files, even if I don't remember changing their appearance. It was the case for regular stray wolves and adopted wolves (former strays).
Apart from the change appearance problem, they seem (waiters and wolves) to function normally... as far as I can tell...

Yup, that's right -- wore is the past tense of wear. Smiley
Thanks !! English classes are far away now, so my grammar is becoming rusty... (I'm french, and though I find english grammar incredibly easier than french grammar, I have lots of doubts when I write something...)

ETA : I think I also had this appearance problem and double character file with a streaker, but I'm not certain (and I'm not home to take a look at my files).
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there any hack for this? on: 2007 November 05, 10:32:27
I use the fix flashing blue from he lot debugger (or any other handy mean to change appearance of a non controllable sim) with mixed success : sometimes it corrects the problem and sometimes it is only temporary (next time I play the business the sims wearing uniforms will revert to default face with no eye color and no eyebrows). I also have some sims that revert to another sim's face : for example : my sim Tara was fine when wearing her uniform on her business lot (community lot) when she was a YA. After graduating, each time she went to her business and wore (is that correct, I have some doubts, is it even an irregular verb ??) her uniform, her face reverted to her mother's face, complete with make-up and eye color. Change appearance only fixed it for this play session, the problem would come back after. When she aged to elder, she had a default face with no eyebrows and no eye color when wearing an uniform. After changing appearance a hundred times with no durable effect, it suddenly worked....
I have the same thing with some flashing blue accessories : I have currently a alien-vampire-zombie (legacy black sheep you know) and his teeth were always flashing blue upon re-entering the lot. I used fix flashing blue, regular mirror, fix appearance from Insim, fix tan&burn (lot debugger and insim), but the problem kept coming back... One day, I did nothing different, but it worked.... And since the vampire teeth are no longer flashing blue...
I'm dreaming of a fix as the blanck faces annoy me greatly...

Please test this newer version and let me know if you are still having problems.

Thanks, I will do this evening and will report back.

ETA : I only moved in an adult townie so far, but it worked fine (I was asked whether to erase her memories). Thanks !

ETA : The part concerning memories is working fine, but it may have a problem with growing up dormies. Let me explain :
If I choose random for the GPA I always get a dormie that drop out after the 2nd year of Uni. (Can't remember how you call the different years in english, as it has nothing to do with the way we name these years in french, sorry).
I did not test this more than a dozen time, so it could sadorandomness, but maybe you should check the code ??
If I manually choose a grade, everything works as intended and I'm asked whether to erase the memories or not. So it is not a big problem (I can always choose, and if I want randomness, I can roll a dice to decide...)
Thanks again for fixing the memories problem, it was the most important for me (even more than the "move in all" part of the hack...)
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crash on resized lots at 7PM -- any ideas? on: 2007 October 29, 11:56:19
What else happens at 7pm:  The lights turn on.
In my game, the lights turn on at 18:00, not 19:00.
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Collections files for BV? on: 2007 October 29, 06:28:53
Not much use for kids, though.

There's Hot Chocolate in a pinch, but hardly worth the effort.

I'm mostly using pepper tonic, instead of coffe.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Where the fuck is the game pulling this character from? on: 2007 October 25, 09:34:29
Like I said; I have a clean downtown template, the nightlife character folder is empty, as is every other character folder for every EP.
I'm playing a custom downtown I made from scratch, not as much as a single lot from EAxis.  I did not use the townie tree/repo gun to spawn sims, I let the game spawn them "as needed".
And I do not appear to have a single adult downtownie.

I really don't get it.

Well I think the templates for spawning new downtownies are somewhere else than the templates downtownies you would have gotten with the standard downtown without the empty templates. Arr it's hard to express in english : I mean the empty template for downtown only prevents the premade downtownies to be dumped in your hood when you add the sub-neighborhood. If you let the game generate downtownies (or if you use the NPC maker) the game always uses the same templates (so there are big chances of clones) of downtownies with make-up, hats, glasses, beards, etc... i don't know where those templates are located, and I have no idea if the game would appreciate that you delete them if you found them....
Do I make sense ??

For all downtownies being teens, it is normal in my gameplay experience : when you let the game regenerates downtownies (idem for townies) it always starts by making teens. Once it has the number of teens it needs it switches to another age group. Don't remember if it does children or adults then, but you get the idea.
39  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is it possible to suggest Jewelry to townies in owned Business? on: 2007 October 18, 16:04:43
I didn't try it, but I also have an english menu (in a french game) for jewelry. I do play with testingcheats on all the time.
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Buying BV jewellery on home lot? on: 2007 October 15, 09:16:43
You can buy jewelry using the latest version of Monique's computer (MTS2), among a lot of other things.

I have problems with the BV version of moveinall-unidorms : it works for the move in part, but the dialog to choose to erase or not the townie's memories never comes up. The part about graduation for a dormie works fine, but then again the dialog to erase or not the memories does not come up. I have tested this in a test game with no other downloads, it is still the same : no problem to move in but the memories are deleted without a dialog asking what I want, like it use to be.
Could you please look into this problem ?

(as far as I can remember, it was working fine in seasons)
Thanks a lot

42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Altering DNA: Skintone Range on: 2007 October 06, 13:43:21
I think it has something to do with the user interface in CAS. Custom or not, the eyes show up side by side. The normal maxis skintones (S1, S2, S3, S4) don't really show up in CAS but have "buttons" specially for them (you know the silhouette, more or less dark depending of the skintone), the custom ones show up under the asterisk. When the creator line is set to zero, the skin is not seen as custom anymore by the game, and does not show under the asterisk anymore. It can not show up with the maxis skintone, as they are a pre set number of silhouettes, only for the 4 maxis skintone.
They show up just fine in bodyshop because they user interface doesnot work like that in bodyshop.
Do I make sense even with english not cooperating ?
43  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sim can't reach the beach... on: 2007 October 05, 08:38:26
In my current hood, all the sims that had learned to teleport had lost the ability to walk up or down slopes. So I have to teleport everywhere...
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage on: 2007 October 04, 07:24:56
As far as I can tell Argon fix does nothing for the clothing of the locals. The fix made the NPC Creator working when choosing a sim to be a local, but in my game at least, I still had to change their clothing to match the region I chose for them.
They were behaving correctly and appearing in the right vacation location, but their clothes were random until I changed them.
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage on: 2007 October 03, 06:53:27
Sadly locals spawn with random clothes...
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 October 02, 14:04:51
I'm playing with the fairlight release (I was not patient enough to wait for the release of BV in France, so torrented it) It is working very well for me, if you except the lag (water balloon related, fishing pathfinding related etc....). The legally purshased DVD is sitting on my desk, it has never seen the inside of my DVD player....
So I don't think the fairlight release is borked, no.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 October 01, 15:50:47
From what I understand, nounneededcoats change the behaviour of sims going through a door or a gate. It has nothing to do with the arrival of sims on a lot through a portal. It seems (in my game) that sims arriving that way (on a community lot or a home lot) will always wear outerwear in winter, regardless of the temperature. As the temperature on a community lot rapidly tends to zero, with nounneededcoats the townies will probably not change to everyday upon entreing the shop, because the temperature also needs to be below -70 for sims to change back to casual.
I'm not sure that's clear, my english is not cooperating right now.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Three last questions, I swear this is it on: 2007 October 01, 07:31:32
Thread hijacking in progress: Any idea what causes blank thought bubbles?

I've seen that happen after clearing out all the gossip memories, especially on ghosts.  They'll go away as the gossip (and other memories, as jolrei said) build up again.

I also saw blank thought bubbles when I had a very neat sim become furious with the NPC-Penguin after mopping its piss puddle (even though I have nopuddlerage installed).
She would do the furious animation with a blank thought bubble surounded by flames above her head. In the same time she wanted to see NPC-Penguin ghost (that's how i found out who she was furious with) and the want displayed the star thing in the background ("power want") but no face only the small ghost.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 October 01, 06:43:59
Emma and Notveryawesome, do you have nounneededcoats (Pascado) ? From what I understand from the code, it only make sims change into their outerwear if the temperature is below -70 (not that often in my game).
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 30, 13:16:26
The parents of the groom (one elder and one adult) and the sisters of the groom (2 teens) would have stayed at home with the 2 dogs (former stray wolves). I cancelled the non-working honeymoon and had the bride book a vacation "for now", and it worked without problem.
