That last story is a gem. As well as the other lines already mentioned, there's "He grad me and started to make out with I like it .But I know that was going to lead to the bed." ... "So I get up he told to go to the bedroom and get on the bed.And I said ok." .... followed by "Then he be came closer to be and............................................ He raped me I did not want this to happen but I fell so in love with him", ending with "That night I gave him a goodbye kiss.But why did I just kiss He just rape me oh my bad."

Oh my bad! I just kissed a guy I fell in love with when he raped me!

I think when this challenge ends we still need an awful stories thread.
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Friends and Birds on: 2007 July 13, 11:04:06
Yep. On several occasions, I've had the message "X and Y are no longer best friends" when Y had been dead for a while. So it appears that the relationship decays as normal after they're dead -- and until it has decayed, the dear departed is still counted as a best friend.

(Hasn't happened in a while now: it's possible that some hack I've installed stops it happening, or otherwise that it simply didn't have a chance of happening.)

I believe a patch sorted it out - though it's most likely that they just stopped the message from appearing rather than wiping the flags at death.

If your card is an nVidia you may need an older driver as there are conflicts between the coding of the driver and the coding of the game. I had similar problems with my old system, going back to the 77.77 driver fixed my problems.

Ah I think you misunderstand. My bro has a kosher copy of the game, but now he plays Pets he doesn't need his disk... So I think I'll snatch it!

Really? Another reason for me to *cough* aquire OFB from my brother this weekend Cheesy
81  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / possible jump bug after woohoo on: 2007 July 10, 11:34:37
Oh dear, another "oops you broke it" thread.

I've had a problem with hottubs / beds after woohoo for quite some time. I blamed it on ACR and not having all expansions and left it at that. However, ACR hasn't touched my fresh install yet and I still get it. I have Uni and NL and very few hacks (all of which are awesome), I think they're all up to date (its hard to tell on this site) and should all be compatible with my setup.

After woohoo in the hot tub my Sims are placed standing up outside it. After woohoo in a bed same thing happens, but the fireworks animation carries on playing (pic below). I forced error-reset the bed but the animation continued to play. After saving and exciting it is still there. The only way to get rid of it is to buy a new bed (I cannot remember if the bed registers as "in use" or not, sorry). Is this a "jump bug"? How do I resolve it?

Error log attached from the forced error on the bed, don't know if it'll help?

Here is a lot for lot 9 or 10.

Lot is 30x10 and just under 20K ($19,196). Built with Sims down on their luck in mind. I went for a run-down/mouldy feel, I hope it comes off well. The lot is no more than two rooms deep when viewed from the long side, there is also only one storey and no foundation. This fits in with my playing style: I'm a lazy simmer who almost never moves the camera view. This lot has been play tested with a new CAS family of five: mum, dad, one child and two toddlers. While money was tight for the first few days, a job in the politics career soon sorted things out.

Floorplan:

Bedrooms:

Kitchen:

Lounge:

Nursery

Play testing sucessful:

The photos were taken before play testing so there has been a little bit of rearrangement and addition to the house, also the swing was taken out to keep the cost down.

Features:
-> 2 bedrooms
-> 2 bathrooms, one off of nursery
-> Nusery for twins
-> Skill objects for all skills except creativity
-> Perimeter fence
-> One storey
-> One / Two room depth
-> Room for driveway or expansion
-> No custom content

Known faults
-> Main bathroom has a shower, not shower/tub combo
-> Noisy toys in the sleeping area of nursery
-> No lights
-> Lower end objects used through-out, including beds (though not the worst beds) and toilets due to budget constraints

FYI: Took me one hour to build (I had already planned it on paper though), one hour to play test and a further half hour to admend and package... And twenty of an hour to find an image host and write this post...

PRECAUTIONS

I have Uni and Nightlife installed so I guess you must have at least these expansion packs installed
I cannot run Clean Installer as I do not have .NET on my WinXP partition: Therefore use of clean installer is recommended

Yey! My game is working! I'll download the neighbourhood (Thanks SaraMK for a base game hood file) and have a play Smiley I'm not much of a builder so you'll have to wait and see what I come up with. Dispite the backlash you've had MaximilianPS, I think it's a nice little project to work on over my summer vacation.
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Latest actions not saved? on: 2007 July 08, 19:10:14
the kid a) would never stop crying

Is this in a Season's game? I'd download the patch, or JM's hack to stop this behaviour.

"I should listen you" had a good conclusion: I want a normal life and to be a good mother, so I will dye my hair blonde. That'll solve everything.

In short: what the heck is this?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD0GZwNK1X0

I saw that one and decided not to enter it - I guessed it was someone showing off their sim. I figured the videos to be entered in this contest should at least attempt to be a story of some kind... Correct me if I'm wrong?

Added this one for the WTF factor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgxAAu4K-_E it's 10 minutes long and features what can only be described an ADD Sim who flits from one activity to another, a howling dog, and two minutes of footage of a still computer. Shot with the walls down to the sound of various club tunes. Oh, don't forget the jerky camera angles and when some more Sims actually show up, the camera takes us to another part of the house with no activity. Just when you think it's getting interesting and you're going to see the Sim pee himself... he doesn't... When asked what his film was about, the poster replied "I don't know. The guy and his dog?"

OK this is an interesting one, slow voice overs and interesting graphics glitches, along with the blockiness... and there's a kind of plot, but it's a cliffhanger so watch out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDbSIABzDKs&NR=1

I feel I should add this one just for the WTF factor and for encouraging the little ones to add the reaper to the family The rocky horror show, with aliens and grim doing the time warp...

EPs required? It looks base game compatible to me, which makes Jemjies very happy! Cheesy
90  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: MATY HOOD CONTEST on: 2007 July 03, 09:34:44
Well I sure could use the unconstrained time limit! As I can't enter my game at the moment, could you post the lot sizes so I can draw some doodles to get my thoughts in order?
91  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: MATY HOOD CONTEST on: 2007 July 02, 17:16:01
Sounds like fun, a project for my summer vacation maybe (once I get my game working again). Am I at a severe disadvantage by not having all EP/SPs? Is there a time limit?
92  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Jul "More Awful Than You": Most Offensive Story Or Movie! on: 2007 July 01, 10:59:54
Here's a brand new and sensational story from the Exchange:

IM A DAMN GOOD MOHTER

"rushed her upstairs to the patient room" WTF? Like every home has a room set up for patients with IV drips and hospital beds...

And the spelling is making me go crossed eyed, it's like trying to have an IM chat with my 13 year old brother:
"Quint: thats it every since i got pregnate yuo been acting reali mean toward me why mom im onli human we all ake mistakes i said im sorry"

"WILL CHRISTINA EVER COME TO HER SENSES AND FORGIVER HER ONLY CHILD?" but she's got another one on the way, which should've been born by now.
93  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Base game + Uni & NL. Game crashes after 10 minutes of play. on: 2007 June 29, 13:58:50
It's not a heat issue, although that was the issue with my last PC (the fans weren't working as they should've), the temperature seems stable. I've just had the game crash to desktop, which it hasn't done before. I'm going to try installing a different graphics card - it's older but it's ATI so should be fine, right?
94  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Base game + Uni & NL. Game crashes after 10 minutes of play. on: 2007 June 27, 11:15:20
This is kind of in reference to this post.

About a week ago the game started randomly crashing again, this time with no constant factor except amount of time spent in game. Given any family of sims in any neighbourhood with any play actions (although I haven't tried "no actions", but I suspect it will still happen), my PC will restart about 10 minutes into entering a household. Sometimes WinXP realises it has had a major crash and give me a report, and sometimes not. I could attach an error report from the OS if needed, but not sure what it'll actually show you?

System specs

40 Gb harddrive space on my WinXP partition
1 Gb RAM
nVidia GeForce 6200 graphics card (which has 256 Mb RAM associated with it)

The graphics card has worked fine before, I run it with the 77.77 driver as it was believed that the later drivers screw with the game. The only thing I can think of that changed in game was a couple of downloads of base game compatible houses.

My first reaction was to remove my Downloads folder. Nothing changed.
My second reaction was to remove my EA Games folder from My Documents completly and let the game regenerate its own. I had forgotten that I had renamed the template file for N001 to stop townie generation so Pleasantview didn't generate. But the crashing still occured with one of the other neighbourhoods in play.
So I figured I'd just restart everything, knowing that all the graphics options would be reset by my reinstall (still guessing that maybe my graphics card or settings or something are suddenly borked).
So uninstall, reinstall. I admit I haven't patched it yet. Restarting of my PC still occurs.

Any ideas what to do next? I swear my game has been playing fine for three months since I started using the older nVidia drivers. But suddenly it just started this crashing thing again. Argh!

Edited because I still dont understand BBS code.

96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is OfB worth it? on: 2007 June 27, 07:48:50
(The NL engine has this annoying habit of dying on stuff for no apparently logical reason)

Maybe that's why my game has been crashing on me for no apparent reason recently then? Thanks for all the input everyone, I think I will go and get it...
97  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Jun "More Awful Than You": Stupidass Houses! on: 2007 June 25, 18:38:52
If it were real it would topple right over.

You know, the engineering building on our University campus looks a lot like that, in the old 1960's concrete style.
98  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Viviana: Girl or Boy? Wha? on: 2007 June 24, 09:54:10
I've had plenty of female toddlers that wear blue outfits and have short-short hair. As above poster says, take them to a changing table or mirror and find out Smiley
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is OfB worth it? on: 2007 June 24, 09:49:32
Thanks for the input guys. I've also found a couple of useful threads about OFB here, but most of them are of the "Does this hack work with OFB?" kind - not really useful one year later.

Is Jorid's tut the one saying to rename N001 to N001-bak? If so, check you've renamed the right file as there's two (one in My Documents folder and one in Program Files under templates, at least under Windows)
