The setting hairstyles by outfit just does not work for me. I set it...nothing happens.

Need more information or pictures. How do you set it? What happens?

Generally if you can find it in http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/index.php?dir=bv that directory then you're OK to use it for BV.

TECHNICAL EXPLANATION: EA did the pie menu string "translation" for that package with Microsoft Word.

Really?  Shocked Am I the only one that finds that odd? Give me a good old fashioned text editor any day.

The promised toddler items will allow multiple toddlers to use the same object together, without building social.
55  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Default Names Project - ROUND TWO! Which names to kill? on: 2008 January 09, 20:00:48
Godwyn and Ingman, to me, sound like surnames, while Qasim, Qamar and Odin are too much of a distraction. I do like Orpheus though.  From the girls names you've highlighted, I'm not sure about Sanuye, Mbala or Deseret - if only because I have no idea how to pronounce them in my head. That problem exists for a few of the surnames too.

What's your latest EP? Please don't say BV, I want these in my hood Smiley

58  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Idea for a challenge -subsistence farming on: 2007 December 17, 16:28:11
Sounds like a good challenge. Dates need to be disallowed - even at home dates - as they make it too easy to max the aspiration metre and therefore making your Sims less whiny. I think a good way around the no food / fishing issue is to allow fishing once a day - one Sim is the fisherman and they stop once they've caught their first thing. Even if it's a boot. That should sort out some problems for fishing making the challenge too easy. Also, supernatural Sims (plant Sims, vampires, warewolves etc) should be disallowed due to them being easier to play. In the same vain, so should all aspiration rewards, bon voyage bonus items (dont have that EP so don't exactly know what they are), love potions and other mood modifiers be disallowed too.

Perhaps bonus points should be added for starting with a Sim with an aspiration which doesn't give gardening or fishing wants. I think that is Romance, possibly Popularity?

I hope that helps in pinning down the things that need to be restricted!
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Expansion Packs (and whether to use them or not) on: 2007 December 07, 12:19:53
Leaving out NL gives some unforfillable wants such as "slow dance". Also I guess the whole dating thing is left out(?) which I like to have the option for in my game when a sim doesn't have any other hope of getting out of red aspiration.
60  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! December: 'tis the season! on: 2007 December 06, 19:33:48

25 GB a day for IMAGES is still insane. PMBD only runs maybe 80-100 GB/day, and there's a MASSIVE amount of crap there. Besides, why complain about hotlinked images? You call it a problem, but I call it an opportunity. An opportunity to show the young and impressionable children of the world a GIANT PICTURE of a man's GAPING DISTENDED ANUS. An opportunity like that should not be passed up!
Gah not again!
Why must I click the links, things like that always tempt me, I'm very too 12

But Jak, it actually said what it was. Even I didn't click it that time  Wink

... What I want to know is, what are those weird white zigzags above it?  Are those lights of some kind?

I think they're meant to be icicle lights:

Is he pregnant? If there are already 8 sims on the lot and you don't have an increased household size hack then there shouldn't have been any baby chimes or possibility of resultant green spawn.

Sorry to disappoint, but eevilcat is correct. In an unmodded game, if there are 8 sims already on the lot then an abduction will not lead to pregnancy.
63  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! December: 'tis the season! on: 2007 December 04, 11:19:57

Eurgh. I didn't click on all of them, but the ones I did contained awfully textured clothing. I don't get why so many creators think that block filling a texture with a pattern means they don't have to dodge / burn some shadows and highlights in there. I'm just starting out texturing (nothing good enough to share yet) and even I know the basics  Huh

This one is filed under Valentine's day at TSR:

I have no idea what that is around her legs.
Get it here: http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/sims2/clothing/female/adult/everyday/445742/
Over 1000 downloads and this lovely comment:

Quote
these look very naughty but hip chick at the same time this will do good for my candy cafes naughty desert section

WTF?

And don't forget the children at Valentine's:

Though those look more Christmas-y to me. Not to mention the block colour nature of it all.

... so if you installed all EPs and all SPs, you'd still need to patch NL and BV (Uni patch is included with the NL patch).

Don't the patches themselves contain all content from the previous patch? So if you had BV you'd only need to use the BV patch?
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Unusual game config, please advise on (versioning?) on: 2007 November 03, 18:47:35
Hi all.

I have the base game, uni, nightlife, open for business and the H&M stuff pack. My understanding is that gives me a game that "thinks" it's newer than it is because of the H&M addon? If someone could advise me on which version of various hacks I should be downloading I'd be awefully grateful, even if it isn't accompanied by a dumbed down explaination of what's going on with my game config.

I've been trying the updated version of macrotastics as downloaded from the macrotastics discussion (says in the thread for TS2U - TS2 OFB but in the RTFM it says for up to BV), also the phone hack version for OFBp2+.

Both of these hacks seem to be having problems. When macrotastics is installed (with auto-yak too, havent tried without), my selected sim resets on mouseover and I am unable to click on her/him. When the phone hack is installed the sim is unable to call -> sim, she/he resets. This reset doesn't occur when phoning a taxi or real estate (havent tried other options).

These are the only hacks I've had in my game so far, I took them all out after installing H&M and have been running the game vanilla for a while.

If error logs are required I can go back in the game and generate them (didn't want to attach them without being asked to)

I think that's about it, I'm open to suggestions or questions.
67  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! October: Fugly Tops on: 2007 October 06, 10:08:02
If you (or anyone else) have some good suggestions I'd love to hear them.

I'd suggest elder clothing - there's plenty of creators out there who try to make "sexy grannies", and it just makes me cringe. I agree with the swimsuit suggestion too - there's loads with badly meshed high heels; the same goes for underwear.

Here's my entry, from MTS2

It doesn't look that bad there, but in game they're really fuzzy. The author says they're the maxis tops without the mesh thing, which was a good idea but they don't look too great. I'll have to grab an in-game screenshot.

My house had non-level edges as well.  Undecided Bummer!
I thought I'd leveled the lot beforehand. Perhaps Veronaville, where I took images, is just going to bork level lots.  Roll Eyes
Huh As far as I see, lots bork hoods, not the other way around. But then again, I have 20/30 vision*.

*I am short-sighted IRL but I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA as to how bad it is.

Hoods bork lots in that if the hood isn't flat, like Sedona is for example, then the edges of the lot aren't going to be level no matter how much levelling you do after the lot has been placed. A lot with non-level edges then borks the new hood its placed in. [/lesson]
70  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: WTF? on: 2007 September 29, 14:41:16
how do I go about giving the results of my judging?  Do I rate all the entries in order of WTF and post my results?  Do I PM someone or post with my Ultimate WTF vote?  Is it a first/second/third thing?

May I suggest having a look at previous More Aweful Than You! competitions? They should all be easy to find in the Planet K 20X6 board. The results will be in the last page or so except, IIRC, May where the topic was closed after serious derailment. Have fun, some of the competitions are great to read (if you're into that kind of thing).
71  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: WTF? on: 2007 September 11, 16:32:59
well if the result is shit, they should just abandon that project. Going "well, it sucks but I'll upload it anyways for stats" is not the right way imo. I'd never upload halfassed CC

It's not halfassed though, is it? If you're a modder who's into code then you're not going to worry about graphics and animations. That's for someone else to work with. That's why this work is uploaded - so someone who isn't into code can take on the graphics side of things and together they can make a good product.
72  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: L&P: Bug Deadpool on: 2007 September 08, 16:09:20
Food serving issues in hotels and restaurants.
Haven't spotted these issues myself, but seen them reported on 4 different TS2 boards so far: food being served in a hotel room tends to vanish when it's placed on a plate already on the table. The sims are charged for the food, though.

I've had that happening frequently in my uni/NL/OFB game.
73  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: H&M Stuff crashes with any Director's Cut on: 2007 September 03, 20:21:10
I've just got H&M stuff today. I now have the base game with Uni, NL, OFB and H&M. Does this mean my game is still OFB-esque? Do I need OFB versions of hacks (I've read this post as meaning that I do), and are the majority of hacks compatable with H&M? The ones I've noticed so far that I have problems with (in my 10 mins of gameplay before I realised something was wrong) are macrotastics and ACR (I know ACR isn't covered at MATY anymore). Macrotastics doesn't seem to be spawning the menu when clicking on a sim.

Except for the lips, that's a good old guy. It's hard to find elder Sims to download, what with the female adult fixation going on. But it also looks nothing like the photo.
75  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: DRAFT: Ghetto Superstar (testers needed) on: 2007 August 29, 23:13:46
I've just completed this challenge tonight, it ended when my CAS sim was ~62 days old. While it wasn't easy, it was certianly a nice break from my usual simming, and I'll now be rewarding my poor sim with the marriage she's wanted since setting foot in her new lot!

Jobs. My sim started in the law enforcement track, eventually got fired, landed a job in the politics track, got fired and managed to go back to the law enforcement again. She seemed to have trouble with "Try for Baby", so pregnancies weren't as planned as they should've been, resulting in getting the sack when she refused to go to work to look after the toddlers. The income gave us ~£300 per day, less a couple of days where she refused getting a new job.

Skills. I didn't pay too much attention to skills but there was an easel for extra income and, in the end, a mirror purely because I hated my five female sims all sporting the same hairstyle. I think had there been more incentive to work on skills I would have done, however bad moods were rife in the beginning days. Overview of skils earned, bearing in mind that I didn't even try:

Brittany (CAS sim): 1/1/0/0/0/9/2 (co/me/ch/bo/lo/cr/cl)
Belle (1st born, became adult on last day): 1/1/0/0/0/2/2
Beth (2nd born, ended as a teen): No skills
Bobbi (3rd born, became teen on last day): 0/0/0/0/0/1/2
Brandi( 4th born, became teen on last day): 0/0/0/0/0/0/1

It's worth noting that they picked up a lot of cleaning points from mopping up puddles off of the bare floor, which you can't direct them to do in game (I think my founder, to my mistake, was a neat 8 sim)

Family. My Sim headed downtown everynight, sometimes having dates to improve motives, often stealing food Ethiopian style until she met a nice young man. It took her a long time to get pregnant the first time, I think she was already half way through her adult life. She had four girls in total, the last couple being *OMG!TWINZ!!!11*. Looking after her while pregnant was a pain in the ass, but by that time she had brought a fridge. The next major expense was some wall and a toilet, a shower then being the next purchase. By the time the twins were born she had a one room shack in which the toilet, TV and cots were kept. (It's worth noting that I don't have Seasons, and I figure the EP would have really had a effect on my playing of this challenge). There was one fire through-out the challenge, caused by a Sim who had never seen a cooker before trying to cook pancakes the first morning they had a stove.

Points. By my reckoning, I have 21 points: 5pts (£5155 Net Value) + 4x4 pts for four children all reaching teen. I had no teen run-aways, and out of the 13 age transitions I only had two that had "Grew up badly" memories. There were two instances of A+ report cards and one instance of Aspirational Failure. I even had one fight brought on by two rival siblings making full use of the newly installed fight club. It was fun.

I think that's about it. I found this challenge a refreshing change, and the first that has actually challenged me.
