2.  For some reason now when my sims use any plumbing (showers, toilets, tubs, hot tub) my game lags like I'm running a 486 on dial up.  Soon as they're done, fast as lightning.

I was going to suggest that it may be particle density, but since it's only that house I suspect ZephyrZodiac has it right. Something buggy on the lot itself perhaps.

it's a problem when you've got a downloaded mesh and a couple of recolours by the creator in one folder, and recloours from someone else in another

Exactly what makes it such a pain!
I know DatGen had the scan for missing textures/orphaned meshes option as well and it seemed to be a bit more in depth than the SimPE file scanner. Alas they've gone belly up. Sad

I lvoe the idea of this hack, but...

Sims with zero activeness will never clean, but they will complain

This part doesn't make a whole lotta sense to me. Lazy doesn't neccessarily mean you can't be a neat freak. In the real world my "active" score probably lands at about a 3 or 4 but I can't sit still in a trashed, cluttered, dusty, dirty area.

So does choosing to clean scale up with activity? i.e. a 2 active 9 neat sim will still ocd clean simply because their neat score should make them cleanliness ocd?

6k+ custom files not 6GB. My computer would have blown me up for that much. *L* It's not the greatest system in the world but it does ok. The folder was at about 1.8GB size.

I'm still going to go through the redownloading because I'm thinking I've left meshes with no textures and who knows what else I may have messed up in my attempt to clean up. There's too many things I can't figure out what they are - even though I do have them all subfoldered according to either the creators name/site name they came from there are still things that came from before I decided to get organized that I have no idea what they are (that'd be the MISC folder heh). I know I could just dump that folder but then I have no idea what I'll be orphaning etc.

I have used SimPE's file scanner to try to find orphaned meshes but it sometimes pops  up orphans for things I know for a fact work fine in my game (like recolors for Numenor's glass walls/windows) so I don't completely trust it.

Whether it was the groups.cache or simply restarting the game that did it is hard to really say but after coming here, deleting the cache and then going back into the game the objects and recolors I couldn't delete were either already gone or I could delete them.

My game is still chugging, though. Looks like I'm going to have to dump it all and redownload a lot more selectively anyway.  Cry

Bluesoup, that seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks very much for the tip!

Will give it a try and let you know if it doesn anything. Thanks  Wink

If I can't figure out how to get these goof ups out of the catalog I'll be doing that. After all the clean up time I've put in doing it the long way I'm hoping not to.

Fortunately the good stuff is easily found again because the smart folks put their name on it!  Cheesy

editing to add: I'm trying to avoid it because it's down to 9 objects that are goofed out of the whole lot.
334  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Downloads Cleanup = Oi! on: 2005 December 31, 03:58:09
At 6k+ downloads my game has decided it's had enough.  Lips sealed So the last few days I've been cleaning up, getting rid of things that I just never use and trying to ignore how good they are in the process. However, today I've run into a problem.

Not all things are so easily determined what they are outside of game so I decided to clean up inside the catalog in game. Yea woops. Ok so, while deleteing recolors I've caused some oddities. I'm getting the blue "this re-color doesn't work" on custom objects that are no longer delete-able from the catalog, even though they were delete-able before I deleted another recolor for it.

..I hope that made sense.

I wrote down the names and have attempted to locate them outside the game. Now I'm finding that some of these things are not showing up at all in clean installer - as if they were actually completely deleted, even though I wasn't able to delete them.  Huh

So have they actually been deleted and they're stuck in some catalog cache somewhere and that's why they are still showing up in the catalog?
Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Tired, confused and actually just want to get back to playing my game before 2007.

I much prefer the way lazy sims make beds. .. that's about all, though.

Shared rides to work and school would be nice. mhm.

Yep I'll probably be using Crammyboy's furious walkby hack for now.

I updated my original post with what I found to be the problem. Hopefully TwoJeffs will be able to/choose to fix this problem. If not, I can live without the walkbyes but I absolutely can not stand that gorilla stance on lazy sims.
337  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lot slowdown - Furious sim freeze on: 2005 December 23, 16:13:58
I went back to the ex's lot. Furious female showed up again frozen but this time the lot did not slow down.

Here is the error I got in debugging mode:

Quote
Object id: 267
name: N005_User00125 - Camryn
Stack size: 10
Error: Animation name is empty string.

In the text log it's obvious she's trying to steal the newspaper. The newspaper is on the lot but it's saying there's no animation for it.
I'll attach the full .txt file. Maybe someone with some know-how to these things can figure out how to fix this and avoid a delete all furious sims thing.

Good to know, I'll try that next time I'm on those lots. Thanks for the reassurance, gali. Wink

It's still bothering me that this is happening, though. It's going to be a major pita if I'm going to have to go through a delete sim ritual for every furious that happens.  I know I could download a hack that stops the furious reaction, but there are times I think it fits and should stay. Angry
339  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lot slowdown - Furious sim freeze on: 2005 December 23, 14:59:55
Well. I had considered it actually but I wasn't sure if that would do something tragic to him outside that lot. Also, then, I imagined if it didn't cause him to implode at his own house I would have to continue deleting him everytime he came back to the lot.  Undecided

Edit Update:

I found the cause of the problem. After removing all my hacks and then adding them back in one by one the smack-you-in-the-forehead-most-obvious one turned out to be what's causing the problem.

"LazyAnimFixOnly"

Only one I have that affects animation so I should have known. Roll Eyes
Not to mention now that I go back to the thread for the hack there is that flashing neon sign that says this version of the hack doesn't work with NL yet.

Yay move me over to RL.

----------------------
I have run into a problem, the cause of which I'm unable to determine... mainly because I don't really know where I would look for it.

This is happening in my college hood. I have 2 sims that are furious with each other at the moment (they're supposed to be). I noticed this while playing the female sim. She cheated on him, they argued/broke up, she moved in with the other guy. I moved the female and the "other guy" onto a new lot and got them started on their college careers. All was well until about 10pm when I noticed the lot suddenly got massive slowdown - like they would do when NPCs would get stuck. I zoomed out and noticed the ex-boyfriend on the lot. He was right at the spot on the sidewalk where they materialize. Frozen there. Any interaction attempted with him would drop out of the qeue.

So I exited and reloaded the lot 3 more times. Each time he would show up at a different time of the day but everytime he would come to the lot the same thing would happen. He's frozen and the game goes molasses. Thinking the lot is somehow screwed up I moved the sims out, bulldozed, and built a fresh one.
First day, same problem.

So I decided to play the ex-boyfriends lot and see if this would somehow fix his freeze problem. Loaded up his lot and within one sim hour the game hits quicksand and the female sim shows up on his lot, frozen at the portal.

NPCs are not getting stuck (paperboy, mailman, random student walkby) only these 2 on the other's lot - so I'm figuring it has something to do with a furious action about to take place.

I have no hacks that affect furious behavior to my knowledge - unless the fightclub does in some round about way.
Here is what I do have:

Busker tipping hack
Chinese & Coffee sit down fix
collegeadjuster
dailygardener
dancefitnessandbodyskilling
dancetogetherteensandolder
ffsdebugger
firemod
ijNoMoaningTilDesperate
LazyAnimFixOnly
ltwvariety
mondayfix
NL-schoolbus-bring friend dialog
No Romance Swoon
nobuskers
noinfluenceobsession
nopartyassignement
phonehack
thefightclub
TJ_Formal Wedding
togafix

The ffslotdebugger isn't giving me any clean up stuck sims options (can't recall the actual text there) so I'm a bit lost on how to get around this. They won't stay away from each other's lots long enough for their furiousness to go away - but I was actually wanting the actions for story purposes.

Anyone seen this before and/or have any ideas on how to remedy it?

*edited for typoes

I have never noticed sims dancing alone in a house alone getting a rise in social, it was rising at the same rate as the Fun motive.
Definately not the hack that's rising social. It is a change from the base game, but whether it came with Uni or NL I don't know. Whichever, social rises when dancing alone without the hack.

Thanks for doing this one, Syberspunk!

(oo stealth post?.. I don't think I've even said Hi here yet.
