Marriage announcements and baby birth announcements are also functions of awesomemod, but you have to set your config. The option is "Inform on Story Action".
152  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 3.2.8 on: 2010 April 04, 17:37:26
I call bullshit. Thread regarding the current patch combo, on the front page of this subforum. It's been out for awhile, so if people were having major issues with it like we started having right after WA came out, there would be major bitchery. Again, this would have been the appropriate place to post a question if you didn't feel the information in that thread was sufficient.
153  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 3.2.8 on: 2010 April 04, 04:44:29
Besides you know I do not take kindly wannabe /b/tards acting like pricks (or more accurately, "bitches")  as for the comment about not playing the game ... well, lets say Pescado screwed up once and did not renewed the timestamp on awesome mod that caused the "about to expire message" and when someone dared to ask about it s/he was roasted about it with the standard "download it again noob" even AFTER other people come forward and said their encounter the same issue and it was only settled when Pescado replied saying "oops, now fixed" that IF they were playing the game they would encounter the same issue.
Not always. It depends on exactly when people had downloaded awesomemod. I was actively playing the last time I can recall that scenario occurring and I had no issue. But hey, continue to grind that burr up your ass.

Actually that is exactly what the ‘first replier' was saying.  I really think more people need to take their questions, concerns, and complaints, directly to EA.  They need to know just how much trouble their mistakes are causing the fans.  I think they have gotten a bit complacent and don't think they need to try as hard to please us.  Also, I find it strange that someone who does not use AM would join a forum dedicated to AM and start a thread to ask a question that has nothing to do with AM, especially since there are already threads that address this same issue.
The forum isn't dedicated to AM. It's dedicated to TS2/TS3 as a fan site. There are people who participate here and play TS3 but do not use AM (that's their madness). The issue is the later part of your statement: there are already threads that address the current patch. If a question needed to be asked about this patch, that would be the place to do it. Being a dumb 12 that apparently was doxing itself pretty bad initially and asking a question like that when another thread exists on the same page of the forum that addresses the issue...that's the major problem. And for 12s who don't bother to open their eyes or do a simple search, the BBS is their natural home.
154  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Plants not growing? on: 2010 April 03, 22:08:26
Also try fertilizing plants. I had a level 10 gardener with a fulfilled perfect garden want who suddenly seemed to have all but three plants in her garden fall into stasis. After four days of no status change, I tried fertilizing a few with some random minnows. Those few I fertilized had grown the next day.
155  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 3.2.8 on: 2010 April 03, 22:04:04
usually the official forums is a good idea to check to see if there are persistent problems as the patch have been around for a while.
...and that is why the first replier stated the OP should go to EA's site.

I happen to know that everyone who has replied so far actively plays TS3. Most of them I follow in other communities, and The Goddess is constantly talking about her game.
156  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! (Manually creating .dbc archives) on: 2010 April 03, 17:21:24
Yes. Sorry, I should have specified that I did choose "<experimental> Import as DBC" each time. Dangerdude may not have, but our issue after merging was the same.
157  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! (Manually creating .dbc archives) on: 2010 April 03, 00:50:52
i've read through this thing twice thus far and either i'm missing something or i dunno. i'm no programmer, but after i started getting the lag in my own game two weeks ago, i've been trying to fix it. i came across this .dbc idea which sounded great, but i'm seriously lost. don't really care what kinda crap i get, just looking for an answer i can use.

1)downloaded and installed s3pe from the link from before, even though it wasn't the one originally referred to by Anach (last post notwithstanding of course)
2)selected mostly slider hacks to serve as trials to see of viability of this method
3)ran S3pe New, Resource->Import-->From package, selected everything as DBPF packages
4)left "replace duplicates" checked and hit "import"
5)saved as Mod Packs, just to try
6)deleted all my packages from the package folder
7)ran the game and found everything gone
8)started over, reread thread, found the suggestion to put the Mod Packs file into the DCCCache, deleted old file, started new file with a few extra sliders so i could tell the difference between my packages and the new file, and left my packages in the package folder, ran the game, nothing again.
I finally got around to merging my cc and ran into this same issue, but with only certain cc. I had previously compressorized some, but not all, of my cc. After merging, I found that the only cc I had that actually showed were hairs and patterns, the two groups I had previously compressorized. Clothing, build, and buy objects did not show. After compressorizing them, I was able to see them in game.

No idea why it didn't work previously. I had started up the game three times before figuring out the issue and cleared caches each time. So if you are having issues with items not showing after merging, try running everything through the Compressorizer first, then creating merged files.
158  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: On the topic of mailboxes on: 2010 April 02, 16:44:04
I believe that the mailbox cues two NPCs: the mailperson (duh) and the newspaper deliverer. I'm having trouble on one lot right now with neither showing up on-lot, and I suspect it is because the mailbox is in a space that isn't big enough for them to access. Bills do still magically appear in the box.
159  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Here we go again on: 2010 March 30, 16:04:16
You're behind a bit.
WA: 2.6.11.00500x
CAW: 1.6.72.005037

Everything else is correct.
160  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 March 30, 07:33:20
Pretty dick move not to realize that it's in the test section because it is a test file and not for use by the masses yet.

simprograms.com.

Please don't bump threads that have been dead for over a month. There is a more current general patch whine thread already active in this forum. Please read the FAQ.
162  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: A Problem with Riverview on: 2010 March 28, 18:34:24
You MUST merge thousands of object/hair packages (not mods as they need to be updated regularly) into a single package or your game will be running HELL slow because it needs to load thousands of objects!
Depends on the system. My system is only middling, but I have over a 1.2 gigs of cc, only 1/3 of it in .dbc, and my game runs like a charm. Since FPS Limiter, that is, since before FPS Limiter it would flit over 100 FPS and then freak out about it.
163  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Pause that Annoys on: 2010 March 27, 17:18:35
Toddlers tend to get carried around to be fed as well. Clearly toddlers require some minimum space for their activities. A solution is to have a toddler bedroom be only sufficient for the crib, with a larger area adjacent for play, feeding etc.
I design small homes, and this is definitely an issue. Like you said, I've found the best solution to be having the nursery/kid room only hold sleeping furniture and usually a toddler potty, plus a one-tile-wide walking aisle. The next room has to have dedicated space for interactions like teaching to walk or talk, plus a toy. A 3x3 space will suffice, but you want the toy on an edge and not through the middle. Play tables are luxuries that are only given to sims who have larger lots (over 14x12) or a dedicated spawn-only floor.

The stair issue is odd. Are these stairs by chance of a stacked set? Did you make them L-shaped using cheats? I haven't done stacked ones, but I have done L-shaped a few times and they can be very challenging to set up in a way that sims will actually navigate because sometimes they ignore the lower set and walk around in nether space if you don't level off an adequate number of tiles in the middle.

EDIT: Oh, and if you are dealing with a small space and insist on having a toy box, open the toy box and remove all but one or two toys. Otherwise you'll end up with a play space that becomes completely unusable.
164  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Cleaning dead Sims out of the family tree? on: 2010 March 23, 03:30:53
Actually, Trixie, checking several online dictionaries and my old physical Roget's gives no results for "disrecommend". Picking on Pescado's grammar? Not so smrt.

EAstory kills random sims because EAstory is just a random event tool and nothing else.
165  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't go on vacation ! on: 2010 March 21, 17:56:12
Yeah, I sincerely doubt it's a specific quest thing. I've done every single quest in every land at least twice. The only real issue I've had with the game is a rather rampant case of midgetism that affects about half my sim children and a very few sim babies. I'd think that most of us that have WA have done every quest at this point.
166  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Strange Codes on: 2010 March 19, 01:17:15
There's still the sim description field in-game. I use that one for the few sim-specific notes I need to make (usually about what sim I'm trying to hook them up with). Same basic function sans hack.
167  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Books.xls structure please on: 2010 March 17, 06:48:02
Not surprising. Remember all the buggy or invisible cheat objects available in debug mode in TS2?

What I've done with my library is to first set it as a residential lot. Have a sim move in and purchase all books. You'll probably want multiple copies depending on your library's size. Mine is small, so I went with three copies of each skill book and just two of the many fluff books. Then manually stock the cases. Move the sim out. Change the lot to Community - Library.

Sim-written novels show up in every bookcase after they are written.
168  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create-A-World Tips, Tricks, and Annoyances on: 2010 March 17, 06:43:56
I think it was more about the exportation process. When I opened the exported file, the many hills were like pure black and white swirls. It looked quite odd to me at the time. There should have been more of a gradation.

EDIT: Bugs in the creation aside, the finished product is beautiful and, so far, bug-free. I sincerely doubt I'll be sharing a built-up version as I'm being liberal with the cc.

Wanted to share something hilarious that just happened. The "Import Height Map", or maybe both it and the "Export Height Map" tools are very, very borked. I was working on another neighborhood for use when the next L&P drops. Of course, once I started plopping down lots I started getting road triangling even though the ground underneath appeared flat. Same old same old. So I tried exporting the map and making sure that the problem areas were the same exact gray tone. This is what I started with:

And this is what the result of the reimported, slightly modified height map was:
170  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: the age of my sims is short on: 2010 March 13, 19:17:52
No, English is not the only language I've encountered. I stand corrected, since obviously I'm wrong.

EDIT: And I really should have known I was wrong about the personal pronoun thing, considering that the two non-English languages I've studied don't capitalize it. Beginnings of sentences, though? That I've never seen in lowercase.
171  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: the age of my sims is short on: 2010 March 13, 07:56:31
Look at your options panel. I'd bet you have it on Normal, which is approximately 80 days (in reality, most of my sims die at around 104). Shocking that this sort of thing would be easily changed by simply checking your game settings.

In other news, having English as a second language does not excuse you from using proper capitalization. I've yet to see a language that doesn't capitalize the first word of sentences or the personal pronoun (I). I generally give ESL posters a bit of room and I'm in an uncommonly good mood today, but you are pushing it.
172  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Exit Stage Left, Please. on: 2010 March 11, 23:01:56
Any of those who are having the total stops, do you also use FPS Limiter? I just started using it yesterday and have had no total stops since.

Odd expansion of the midget bug...baby with toddler body mesh.
174  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 March 10, 03:34:41
That or toggle aging on and off during your rotation to keep things equal. That's what I do. Every once in a while I screw things up and age three days in a two day rotation, but it's not a huge deal and you can balance it out the next round. I have seven chosen households in play out of thirty-five occupied, playing 2-day rounds.

Ciane, did I miss something during my TS3 break? It was my understanding that TS2 aging didn't discriminate between chosen and riff-raff, that all sims would not age unless actively played regardless of status.

EDIT: No, I know that's not so. If unchosen aged while chosen did not unless actively played, unchosen would end up aging X times as fast as chosen, where X is the number of households in rotation. TS2 aging is ideal if you have a small community in which you are playing all houses, or if you like the Jeffty is Five effect.
175  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Serious error that deleting save and using backup file won't fix? on: 2010 March 08, 19:13:02
Reinstall would be an option.
It sounds like a critical file is missing.
