26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2011 May 01, 01:28:19
Wow, and all you say I'm a dick. :/ Okay, I was tired, wanted help. So I made a few mistakes, so what? I like putting things bold, again, so what? You guys are suppose to be helping, I came here for actual help. I have searched all over, still, no. Same thing every time. FOUR people replied to me, only one gave me a little advice. Thanks alot? You say this is for tech help? I got no help.

Instead of being butthurt and reactionary, try reading the replies you got. The replies you've already gotten answer the questions you just asked, including why you shouldn't bold things, why you shouldn't make stupid mistakes, what you have to do in order to get real help around here, why people are calling you a dick, and the first step you should take to actually fixing your problem.

Existed where? Where does it grab them from, the generic premade models, or just sims that would already spawn and were already NPCs but the game never assigned them a home?

And for the cribs: if you enable story mode progression and aging, but never bother to put in cribs into homes, will everyone in the town eventually die off (except for blessed sims)?

They always existed in your town. They would wander around, possibly perform jobs, and do the other things that non-played sims in your town would do, but whenever it was time to go home they would disappear into the ether.

If you enable Awesome story-mode but never bother to put cribs in homes, yes, your town will eventually die off, with the exception of those premade homes that already have cribs in them, which isn't many if I remember right. I do not use Awesome story mode for that reason, as I cannot be arsed to bother stuffing cribs into houses of sims I am not playing.

Don't people torrent at night? Otherwise you are paying for internets you aren't using!

"Arr, matey! Yer list of scurvy seadogs be safely aboard."

I love Avast, but that is even scarier to hear at 2am when I've forgotten to turn off my speakers at night.

SEARCH MOAR.

This gets posted a minimum of once a week. The answers are here.

Am I the ONLY one who finds Windows easy to use, intuitive, and reliable; who has never had a major problem with it; and who has almost never wanted to bash his PC to smithereens?

Nope. Well, Windows 98, sure, but XP was fine, and Win7 has been lovely. I don't understand the people who freak out over how crash-prone, awful, unreliable, and so on Windows 7 is. It's performed brilliantly through both normal use and my occasional floundering about with advanced settings, obscure emulators and other poorly-documented piracy. Hell, the one time I was deliberately trying to make it crash, it wouldn't.

Or, since money is so easy to come by in-game and butlers are generally in the employ of the rich, whenever she makes something inappropriate, throw it out and mark its cost as one of the costs of employing a butler. (I've never had a butler on one of my lots, so whether this would throw the butler into a tizzy of constantly cooking I do not know.)
33  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2011 April 13, 06:31:45
I was wondering if there is a way to turn off the "No Idiotic Time Restrictions on Cooking" mod?

I have read the readme and searched the forums but haven't found out if this is possible to accomplish.  The readme and/or auto config tool don't give an option to enable or disable this.

Is it possible to turn it off?

This has been asked before. Short answer: No. If you don't like your sims cooking hamburgers in the morning, just don't tell them to cook hamburgers in the morning. It does you no harm to have all the options available to you, and Pescado has said he does not intend to change it.

God, finally. Now that we know how much you pee we can get on with things.

We don't do one-word replies, either. I suspect that you think uknortherner's response to you is an exception, and now that you've come back to call attention to it we'll all dogpile on him now for being SO MEEN to you.

Yeah, no.

36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Question about making famblys sacred on: 2011 March 03, 01:47:44

I became so totally distracted by reading ahead to see if you continued the usage of the oh-so-cute "Famblies" theme that I couldn't grok your post.

"Fambly" prevents you from grokking the content of a post? I shudder to think what will happen when you encounter a terlet.

A separate crack is unnecessary when using Awesomemod.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Some help patching from 1.00.631 to 1.2.7? on: 2010 September 13, 01:21:36
You should SEARCH MOAR, as this issue is discussed on an alarmingly regular basis.
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Broken Resource.cfg file on: 2010 August 14, 02:02:42
Unless you need to open/edit the cfg file, it shouldn't matter what the default opening program is.
40  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Broken Resource.cfg file on: 2010 August 14, 01:49:24
What program are you trying to open it with? Is the Windows standard checkbox of "always open this type of file with this program" not there, or greyed out, or what?

More information required.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Broken Resource.cfg file on: 2010 August 14, 01:37:46
Wow.

Right-click, click "Open With" -> "Choose default program".
42  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod's hidden traits on: 2010 June 28, 21:57:39
A few of those are used by Awesomemod as it is. Adult-to-teen romantic interactions can be turned on by Awesomemod, but the adult will get the trait Pedophile and the teen Pedobait if you make them interact in such a fashion, and I think after that both sims will do such things autonomously. (You may need one of the Autonomous Romance type mods to get them to do so.) Registered Sex Offender is applied to the adult if they are caught and arrested.

The rest, as far as I know, are Pescado's, and they're used in his game. Most of them are part of his private set of mods and are used in Awesomeland, where he does stuff to various forumgoers' self-sims according to their shticks. Brynne pees herself, Rohina has an ugly butt, Aggie is the smackable punbot, Lorelei is tealdeer, and so on. I don't think any of them would do anything if you didn't have Pescado's private suite of mods, so I don't think being able to apply them in CAS would do you any good. Making it easy to make sims Incontinent is meaningless if you don't have the mod that forces Incontinent sims to pee themselves at random, after all.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions Torrent on: 2010 June 16, 16:49:56
So am I correct in inferring that if I'm using awesomemod and disabling the cd-check I can run the game off of the original exe without an issue?

/noob question

Gee, I don't know. Disabling the CD-check would probably make it stop checking for the CD, but oooh, that one is so hard to figure out... better ask that question in more inappropriate threads to be sure!
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly on: 2010 June 13, 22:52:54
You could try reading the umpteen threads where people have shared their opinions?
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 12, 03:13:01
You need to have one point of skill in the profession in question... ie one point of gardening to become a gardener. You might also need to wait for daylight hours, if the city hall is closed, but I'm not sure on that point. Otherwise, no, not much of a trick to it.
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Trouble updating from 1.2.7 on: 2010 June 01, 23:11:53
It's one of several things, and it's hard to tell which, because the "You have a dodgy file" error message can mean many different things.

1. Check that the patch you have downloaded is the right one. Check both the version number and the region number, both on the patch file itself and in skuversion.txt, which is found in Game/Bin/. (The region number is several zeroes plus a number 1-5. For my installation it's "00002" which I think is the US installation.)

2. If both those match and it still doesn't work, check the log Anach mentions. It will tell you exactly which file it's complaining about, and you will probably be able to pull that particular file directly from the CD and replace the borked one and get it to work. (If the file it's complaining about is something like the helpfiles, it's very likely to be a region mismatch.)

3. Failing either of these, if you can't make the patches work yourself you can try updating through the launcher, as it will sort out any version or region mismatch errors for you.

47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AL money exploit - anyone ever noticed this? on: 2009 July 02, 04:34:55
don't see why anyone would bother.  Much quicker just to motherlode if you want to cheat.

The reason I'm bothering is because I'm playing a legacy challenge, and since I'm not allowed to use motherlode and this isn't technically using a cheat code (and there are no official legacy challenge rules for AL yet).

Well it's still an unintended source of money, and the Legacy challenge is on the honor system... I mean, if you want some easy money, just motherlode or kaching a few times and be done with it - it's not as if someone's going to come punch you in the face when you do. If you don't want to cheat, don't cheat. It's not that hard.
48  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Undefined transition errors? on: 2009 June 30, 20:49:52
It sounds like you already know what you need to do.

Update all your hacks and/or CC. If the problem persists, do a binary search until you locate an error-generating item, remove it, and see if that fixes the problem. Repeat until the errors go away.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Looking for advice on computer fixing/building. on: 2009 June 25, 02:54:24
The option that will be both the cheapest overall and get you the most power for your money is to do some research, buy parts, and put it together yourself.

Alternately, do enough research to know what parts go with what, buy them yourself, and take them to a local comp shop (not best buy!) and pay them to put it together for you. Local places are both less expensive, and more likely to employ techs who actually have a clue what they're doing.

Newegg.com is your friend. Read reviews, paying attention to overall score of the product in question, and whether the negative reviews are from people who appear to have legitimate complaints or they're in a rage for no apparent reason. Newegg (and any other legitimate computer part supplier) will list everything you need to know.

I don't reccommend buying a premade under the assumption that anything in your existing computer will even work in the new one, let alone be helpful; there's no guarantee that the parts will fit, and even if they do they probably won't improve performance all that much, if at all. (Well, more hard drives are good, generally, as they just mean more disk space.)

Alternately, if you are happy with your computer's performance (when it isn't doing this "screw you, I won't turn on" dance), you can go with fixing it rather than replacing it. It could theoretically be as big as replacing your motherboard, CPU and/or power supply, or as small as replacing a CPU fan. Either learn how to diagnose these problems, or again, find a local shop to do it for you.
50  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Alice and Kev Challenge? on: 2009 June 24, 07:06:32
In short, unless you can afford to furnish a house to sickening levels of opulence and your sims have nothing better to do with their time and money but wallow in decadent luxury, there is little reason you need a house at all! There's no weather, and in any case you would be unaffected by it while inside a community lot, you don't have to PAY for anything you use on a community lot, when your lot is empty you receive no bills, and nearly everything you can buy is inferior to what you can use in the field.

My only question is... where do they sleep? If the goal is to have no house at home and therefore no bills, where do you stick the bed?
