1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Generations: What Sucks, What's Fucked, and What Did EA Get Right by Utter Luck on: 2011 June 05, 00:31:51
Okay, jealousy is at an all-time high now. I can't stop a sim from accusing of cheating because her spouse ZOMG spoke to another woman at work! how dare he!!!!11!!!

This is absoultely ridiculous. I love some of the new content, but the kermitflail of whine every time someone so much as looks at a sim of the opposite gender, not enjoying so much.

ETA - okay, it's not just talking to sims of the opposite gender, it's working with them. Very much not amused.

Happened to me too. And I'm not even sure what the accuser has to do to get rid of the debuff... bah, stupid.

Considering that this is only one wayward comma, the criticism seems a little heavy.

Comedy is not about being reasonable, y'know. Also I needed to use the "Big Red Dog" joke, which probably flew underneath the radar of non-US readers.

I'm sorry. I guess I failed to read your tone. And no, I didn't know that particular series. But thanks for introducing me to it, maybe I'll get a similar joke next time, then. Wink

There aren't any bartenders in the bars in Bridgeport.

Well, there are, disabling mods, starting a new city and patching will help.

Why, you talk, like this? You, don't happen, to be, large, red dog, do you?

Well, in their defence, the breaks were in the right places. The second comma should just have been either a semicolon or a full stop rather than a comma splice. Considering that this is only one wayward comma, the criticism seems a little heavy. (Resident Grammar Police, do feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here. I'm ESL and always looking to improve.)

Oh...So I have to patch?

Yes.

Is there any way to find like, past versions of AwesomeMod?

No. El Presidente believes in burning the bridges and never looking back.

Is AwesomeMod backwards-compatible?

No.
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Patch 1.18/2.13/3.9/4.6/5.4/6.1 on: 2010 December 06, 13:49:26
I'm trying to avoid making a new thread, and my request is related to this particular patch, so is anyone willing to share their copy of Sims3Launcher.exe from World Adventures (version 2.12.8.009002)? It seems to have gone entirely missing, and I'm unable to patch without it.

It just "went missing" on its own, with no help from you?  Did it leave a note?  If it left a note, it'll probably be back in a day or two.  If the note is made of cut-up magazine letters, then it's probably a kidnapping.

Actually I had the exact same problem at some point. I was doing incremental patches because those were the ones I had lying around and it was as if one of them simply decided to delete the exe file. O.o

Of course, rather than make a fuss about it, I simply reinstalled once again.

He's more than halfway to 5 stars and it hasn't even been a week in game. Hell, he's still at the first level of the film career.

Whereas my sim has been stuck on 4 stars for AAAGES. And he's at the top of the film career too, and I do nothing but head shots and celebrity opportunities all the time. Of course, my 'hood only has one single 5 star celebrity that I imported, and then there's my sim (4 stars), his wife (3 stars) and their two children (afair 2 or 3 stars each). It seems like the only time the progress bar goes up is when they breed another star for him to interact with. Eh. O.o
8  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AM is Borking Vampires. on: 2010 December 02, 13:20:05
Urge to buy Late Night decreasing. DX

I loathe breeding vampires. They're undead ffs, they can't have babies.

So funny how the babymaking is always what people get hung up about. Why shouldn't they be able to breed when they can walk, talk, and do all kinds of other crap? Infertility seems a bit too convenient and is far too often used as a cheap source of wangsting, because omg you can't be happy without ze babbys. I'd rather see a vampire wangst about how annoying it is to use rubber for hundreds of years because they don't want babbys and STDs still itch, and how that time with the syphilis was especially bad.

Ramble aside, there are other things to LN than the vampires. Like, empty clubs, for instance. And boring bands that don't really get any gigs. >_>

Stuff is borked, but I still kind of like it. I must be a glutton for punishment. Or maybe I just have too much faith that Awesomemod will eventually fix everything.
9  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AM is Borking Vampires. on: 2010 December 02, 10:45:46
No, I don't.. ^^

ETA: ok, looked it up.. now I do! Tongue

Though I did like Lestat..

Some people do like to read about other people's Mary Sues, which is why it's still feasible to churn them out. Heck, some Mary Sues can even be enjoyable to those of us who don't normally like Sues, if they are done particularly well or at the very least are doing interesting things. I don't recall Lestat really fitting either criteria (at least after the first book).

But I admit that I also liked Lestat / Anne Rice as a 12. And I also have an internet handle (in other places, didn't dare use it here Tongue) that stuck because of it. Fortunately, I eventually grew out of it.

Without doing any testing or observing at all, I'll guess that vamps who EAT PEOPLE as opposed to juice boxes will take more sun damage.

Funny, my guess is on the opposite.
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Neverending Pause on: 2010 November 19, 15:59:36
Blargh, I hate this problem. I never used to have it but ever since LN I consistently get these very long pauses, and every solution I've been able to find has been pure voodoo. It's really not giving me a great desire to play when every few sim days (if it even takes that long) the game freezes for 10+ minutes.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 November 10, 14:35:15
She is. Because, you know, her father was turned just before she was born.  Roll Eyes

Seriously. This game has very little logic.
That's actually quite comprehensible, when you know how it works. The game retains NO data on the past state of sims. This means that when the check is performed to see what the babby should become, look like, or behave like, it uses the data from the parents, as they exist, right NOW. In 99% of cases, this data does not differ significantly, as sims normally do not radically change their stats, but you're hitting that bizarre, 1% corner case. Obviously, a SMART designer would have anticipated it, but this game was not designed by anyone smart. The good news is that it's certainly FIXABLE, but the bad news is that implementing a fix would negatively affect future compatibility and drastically increase maintenance overhead.

Well, it's not exactly game-breaking (for me). I'm having fun with the blood suckers, so would probably have eventually turned her anyway. But it is kind of silly.

I think it's 1000 times worse the way that multiple births are always the same gender unless one jumps through hoops. That ruins any fun I would have had with multiples. But that's back to the base game and off-topic, so, eh, yeah. Derailing.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 November 09, 22:38:54
You didn't mention if the kid was a vampire?  I haven't seen any behavior like this with my kids, they are gaining their skills as they are supposed to.

14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 November 09, 21:59:21
So vampire children are simply imba? Gah. Good to know, I guess.
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 November 09, 20:03:29
I just had an interesting bug. I had to double check that I hadn't accidentally downloaded some sort of skilling mod because I had a child start painting and get full painting skill before the thing was even half done. She hadn't even read any toddler books.

And the dad was at the gym to get fatigued but even after five hours of Quick Burst it didn't happen (and there wasn't even a bar filling up). I don't know. It's possible that I suddenly have some sort of conflict and it's not actually a bug, but it's damned odd.
I had the same thing with my family of vampires. Is the dad a vampire? They don't get fatigued when working out.

Doh. Of course. I hadn't even considered that. Then why did he get that stupid opportunity in the first place?

The kid still isn't supposed to go from 0 to 10 in painting in a few hours, though... right?

I may be the biggest lazypants ever (ok, no may about it) but I'm just so happy that someone bothered to make reasonably sized clubs etc so I don't have to.

And no matter what shouty voles say, your lots look really good to me. Of course, I may not be the person to ask about design, since I just make a square block when I build and stuff it with whatever I need wherever there's room.
18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is it really my processor? on: 2010 November 05, 19:34:01
For example, the PassMark benchmark of a Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz is 1270.  Pentium 4 2.4GHz is 315. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/common_cpus.html
The C2D at 2.1GHz is significantly faster than minimum requirements.

I would like to baa a bit about that link. I was unsure about how good my 2GHz quad core actually was but blah blah blah [insert boring drivel about me and my computer that nobody cares about] and it's nice to be able to quickly compare numbers with recommended vs own specs when buying games. Cheesy
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 November 03, 17:05:31
Is this just a symptom of my general game borkage, or has anyone else tried to hire a butler, only to have them get stuck or disappear after something like a day? If you reset them, they implode, completely disappearing from the game. I can't seem to make a new one show up either. Bah. I liked the idea of having a house slave I didn't have to control.
20  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 November 02, 23:39:02
Really annoying bug: Sometimes the elevators will cease to work at all, and when I mouse over them, they say it's because they're in use by whoever, never mind that they aren't. So far, the only fix I've found to this problem is to delete the elevator and buy a new one, which is a PITA no matter where it's at.

I've had the same problem with a TV and a high chair after installing LN, actually. But those were easy to replace, so it was less annoying.

It may be an old bug for all I know, though, but I didn't notice it before.
21  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 November 01, 13:12:58
So my sims are bugging all over the place, which is my own fault for continuing to play bugged sims after I knew they couldn't be repaired, bad me. But the routing, I won't take responsibility for. I have two sims and a toddler living in that 43k~ simoleon 2BR apartment, and sometimes when I ask one of the parents to pick up the toddler, they will walk out the apartment (and the toddler will follow), take the elevator down, and then pick her up.

Seriously.

After a while I figured out that I could cancel the action if they were headed that way and then try again to make them actually do the sane thing and pick her up on the spot, but... I just... what the fuck!?

Oh, and not a bug but a feature, but I am very much over that whole rumour 72-hour debuff where everyone thinks worse of the sim. Happens too often. It even happened to my sim child on her very first day of school.
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 28, 23:02:33
I had the bug where all of a sudden my sim couple wouldn't go to work at the Studio. I deleted and replaced it since nobody else seemed to be going in either, and now she can go to work, but he just gets jump buggy and cancels. I've tried to fix and reset him but, eh, no luck. I assume he's completely borked.

I also get the same two places marked as hot spots every single night in map mode, but then when I go there, there's not a single soul. Not that there are ever more than one or two sims, three at the most, at any one time. -_-

Apart from that (and some opportunities being unfulfillable but that's really minor to me) it's not been the most bugged experience I've ever had. Yet.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Patch 1.17/2.12/3.8/4.5/5.2 on: 2010 October 27, 18:41:57
Ok, presumption #1 - My BG and AMB are region 2, HELS and WA region 1.
Presumption #2 - a "full patch" (the one that`s about 500 MB in size) patches EVERYTHING (base game, EPs and SPs).

Conclusion - there could be some issues with patching, b/c there is a region 1 full patch to d/l, as there is region 2 full patch to d/l. Now you tell me - which one would you pick?
Btw, I`m getting my patches from http://www.simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching:Patch_Note_1.17
Read what he wrote;
Full patches are also only applied to one game (ie base or one of the EPs)
Presumption #2 is wrong.  You need a different full patch for base and each EP/SP.

I was wondering about this mythical "full patch" but couldn't remember any patch being as big as 500 MB. Oh, well. I have to LURK MOAR and learn not to take noobs' words at face value. Got it.

Conclusion: Don't use a "full patch" but patch each part individually?

Seriously. Is the logic of that not obvious?
25  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Patch 1.17/2.12/3.8/4.5/5.2 on: 2010 October 26, 23:02:33
Patching with different regions usually is only a problem if you do something wrong somewhere. Each patch seems to function individually- meaning you could have each expansion be a different region from all the others with no issue, because patches work on one expansion at a time (which is why the patch is 1.17/2.12/3.8/4.5/5.2 instead of 5.2)

Yes, smartass, we know how it works, but EA are so clever that even with a vanilla installl, I personally had to reinstall Ambitions twice before the last patch would take without throwing an error. Had to reinstall WA once. The rest worked first time, which was quite frankly surprising, even though I reinstalled everything only a couple of days ago. It may or may not have anything to do with regions, I've never had mismatched regions with other games and that may pure assumption on my part, but it's still a PITA. I certainly couldn't be arsed to reinstall all the parts for every error as I'd still be trying to patch a month from now if I did that. Sims is the only game I own which is so filled with dumbfuckery that there's a fifty-fifty chance a patch won't work.
