26  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Gah!!!!! on: 2007 July 26, 18:04:14
Ever since I downloaded some hacks from *mumble mumble*, my game's been a llittle weird.  I went through my downloads folder and pulled out everything I thought was making trouble.  Now files seem to be dropping out by themselves, not just the stuff I put in, but original game included things like the Valu-Lumber Arch.
Okay, this is really all about the arch, but why in the world would it go away like that?  It's in the catalog, but nowhere else.  I tried cloning it, which didn't work, except for putting an asterisk by the catalog entry.  Did one of the custom arches push it out of its slot?  Are there a limited mumber of arches that the game can handle?

Am I going to have to pull all the custom arches out of my game to get my stupid cheap arch back?

i've got everything but hm.  the problem seemed to start after i installed seasons.
come to think of it i haven't seen it since i installed the last patch, but i've also pulled out all my hacks and only put the ones back in that i knew for sure wouldn't conflict.  the lot debugging sounds like a good idea in any case.

here we go again... Undecided
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / sims getting lost? on: 2007 July 04, 07:58:44
what causes sims to keep showing up on a lot over and over and over after the lot sim has told them to go home, or they've said they needed to leave and then left?
it's like they go around and around the block or something.  sometimes they say they need to leave again, and sometimes they just keep wandering around.  they never do anything if the lot sim doesn't greet them.  i usually end up getting annoyed at them (the wanderers) and snatch them out of the game.  which is great for my sense of omnipotency, but can't be all that great for the game itself. i beg to differ with the subject line but in the meantime, mermaid cove has some pretty nice stuff if you want understated.

i really like her "contacts"  to disguise the eyes of the sims with eye/skin combinations that have never been seen in real life and probably never will be seen outside the game. Grin

holy cow, i've seen sunburned (or super-flushed, hard to tell the difference) sims!   i thought sims were supposed to get sunburned but mine just got super over-heated and burst into flames. Shocked Shocked Shocked  that is, until i installed the hack that kept them from bursting into flames.

[q]Well, mine are still not changing out of coats correctly. During spring, I had all sims coming into the house and keeping their coats on. So, they still didn't fix that one. I'll have to get nounneededcoats.[/q]

mine are also still not changing out of their coats.  i thought at first it was the fact that i had an arch on an outside wall, which i changed into a regular door, but it seems the sims don't pay any attention to the outside doors at all except for not walking through the walls.  if that makes sense.

my toddlers were levitating while dancing in front of the stereo, but it's been a while since i've seen it happen. Tongue

i downloaded and installed the 3rd seasons patch yesterday, like the good  little automaton that i am, and so far, besides the fact that bella goth was dead again, my sims refused to dress in outerwear when it was "cold" outside.  it looked like a meeting of the polar bear club.

never mind, i think i just figured out the problem.

why did they fix the levitating children?  if an adult can do it, why can't the kids???

35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help, one of my sims isn't aging on: 2007 June 03, 05:40:14
i noticed than when one of my playable sims "married" an npc (the maid from strangetown).  he aged, she didn't.
i didn't want to mess with it so i just killed her off.  her hubby eventually got over it.

the walls seem to be key.  the open floor tiles only affect the spot directly below them, as i discovered when i spotted jennifer burb playing pool in her underwear, next to a frosted plant, and she was not affected by the temp.  whose idea was it to make sims hot and cold, anyway?   Angry

i had a somewhat similar problem when i resurrected lyla grunt and had her start procreating with general buzz.  every single one of their get had what looked like a cleft palate.  as they aged i could see that it was the center part of their faces that were twisted, and you could see right through the heads to the hair, if they had any.

i had to kill lyla all over again, and buzz married some random woman walking down the street instead.

the "holey" flat roofs could be the problem, since the flat roofs in my default houses seem to work just fine.   Kiss

and i've noticed that just putting a roof over something doesn't stop it from being covered in snow.

i'm thinking ea needs to hire me to get the retard's angle on their inventions.

40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What do you build into your houses? on: 2007 April 14, 05:41:00
my houses start out pretty average, then get added onto as need arises, most lately to accomodate things like lightning, rain  and hail.  the curious brother had a nice open roof-top boudoir for woohooing and slow-dancing all night long, and after i installed seasons, i had to enclose it so they didn't freeze to death dancing.  i've also been adding more garages to my houses (in the south, almost nobody uses a garage), attached all-glass bubbles to the sides of houses for stargazing (are your sims as lazy as mine?  they won't go up a third flight of stairs unless they're ready to die), and since i don't like in-house swimming pools, i have been attaching a sun/pool room to the rest of the house with an enclosed walkway.

i've got a crapload of custom roofs created by warping floor panels, and as soon as it starts raining or snowing, all my simmies start running around, cringing, and "yelling"  about weather in the house.

even a regular flat floor will not stop the rain, if i try it as a barrier between the roof and the living area.   i had to move my broken-down-barn sims into a  much smaller shed with a "real" roof until i can figure out how to fix their rattletrap livingquarters.

any suggestions? hacks? hints?

thanks in advance.

top-heavy is not happy.  and i've worn a bra since i was 11, and i'm still kicky-sacking them off my knees.
having said that, i think it would be much more realistic to have adjustable simtitties, but my simmies will all have nipples, period. Undecided
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is anyone else having this much problems with flashing blue accessories in pets? on: 2007 April 01, 20:35:21
i had the problem with flashing accessories but it didn't fix until i reinstalled the entire game.

now i'd like to figure out why the hell the snow groundcover in seasons causes the flashing blue screen of death.  everything else works fine  until it starts to "snow".

i really don't want to have to reinstall the game again, i think 4 times is plenty. Cry
