Marhis is right. Look at all the people posting in just this thread who have less than 500 posts, none of us are complaining about being treated badly because of it. It isn't really your post count that matters, but what you post and how you post it.

I don't think I am using your overhaul, but if I can turn off gain in non-wanted hobbies with it, I'll go grab it now. Thanks!

The benefits of the hobby mags are high, as the mag has a base enth. gain rate of 200... best rate in the game as far as I know.

I want a magazine that reduces enthusiasm, especially for Food. Even with your food enthusiasm mod, tuna, I have too many Sims obsessing over food, patting their bellies.

I assume that you'd still get the 12 spawned to deliver hobby mag's,  or to make the subscription call.
I've never called for either of those things and am unclear as to what their actual BENEFITS are, so I've never seen a 12 deliver that, either. Is it the same annoying 12?

Seems to me that the chief hobby person is the one who makes the subscription call, but it's the same 12 in the yellow news-delivery outfit who delivers the magazine.

If you reject the subscription call, you get a pop up featuring the news delivery 12 saying you can call to subscribe if you change your mind.

I didn't get Sims 2 until there were a couple of eps out, and lots of fixes made by the modders. I expect Sims games to be too buggy to play until the modding community has had time to sort it out. Sims 2 was worse than Sims 1 in that respect, and I expect Sims 3 to be worse than Sims 2, so I will also not be an early adopter. Depending on what people report about how the game plays and how buggy it is, I might not get it at all.
106  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 L&P on: 2009 February 12, 03:13:42
My understanding, from what I've read, is that you can go and play other households, but while you are doing so, the family you just left behind will continue with their lives without you.
So if you move CAS intended spouse into a new house and played him for awhile, the heir of your primary house could grow up and get married to someone else, or die, without your direction.

Do not Want!

Sims 3 is a whole lot of Do Not Want, lol.

That's happened to me several times. I don't know if it's a bad thing in the long term, but I've never had a hood meltdown.

Thanks, I'll do that.
110  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Broken AL social townies as owned business managers on: 2009 February 09, 14:02:42
I've run into an odd problem affecting only the AL 'social townies'. I have several of them working as managers of my owned OFB businesses. Everything was fine until I added apt. lots to this hood. Whenever one of these business manager social townies moves into an apt. unit, as an NPC roomie, or as a neighbor, they become demoted as managers and cannot be re-promoted.
They show up to work and do their job correctly, but are not controllable the way managers should be. 'Promote to manager' is available in the management menu, but using it does nothing. When the business owner calls in to check on that business, he is told the business doesn't have a manager, so he can't make a profit if he doesn't go in to the shop that day.

I've noticed that these employed social townie Sims that move into apt. units as neighbors go to work in career uniforms. The one that I had as an NPC roomie had her career job and hours listed in her job panel, but also had the name of the shop she worked in where the vacation days normally show.  She went to work according to the career schedule, not the 9-5 M-F owned business employee schedule. Also, when these owned business social townies appear as candidates to be roomies, it shows their career job, not their job as an employee or manager of an owned business.
The demotion doesn't seem to take effect unless I actually go into the business. For instance, I have a social townie working as a manager of a shop that I haven't played since it reached rank 10. That social townie has moved into an apartment, and he goes to his career job every day dressed as a clown. My business is still able to call into the shop where I have him as a manager, because I haven't played it since he became an apartment tenant. But, I have a social townie who was a manager of a shop I do still play, and right after she moved into an apt as a neighbor, she lost her manager status, and cannot be re-promoted.

I'm not using any non-awesome business mods, I don't think I have tight pants.

No pics, unfortunately, because I didn't think to take any. The AL reputation bonuses can be borktastic. I never seem to get a usable blind date. In Darlington Shores, a sort of social experiment 'hood, Angelica Goldhammer offered the (married)mayor a blind date during their new resident interview session. The date? None other than Pollination Tech #88. The date was declined. Angelica ended up winning the right to move to the 'hood and upon moving her in I got the message that she and #88 were no longer friends. Thankfully #88 didn't show in her relationship panel.

I also don't have pics, but I recently had a business owner give a raise to her townie cashier, who then offers my Sim, her boss, a job with the company she works for, in the oceanography career.

The bookcase is working fine for me.
113  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Art Nouveaulicious Collection on: 2009 January 19, 18:19:30
It's incredibly sad & pathetic that they continue to release payshit that needs to be repaired to function properly. Thanks for the fix, Lord Darcy.
114  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Art Nouveaulicious Collection on: 2009 January 19, 16:02:08
I just wanted to report that using the nouveau desk I get errors whenever a Sim tries to use anything placed on the left side of the desk. I've gotten errors from Sims trying to use a phone placed on the left side of the desk, and from trying to put away/recycle books & newspapers they've placed on the left side of the desk after use.
I've gotten around this by putting lamps or decor on that side of the desk so Sims don't put their books & papers there. The computer placed on the right side of desk works fine.
115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Interesting business glitch. on: 2008 December 30, 13:06:19
I stopped having employees of owned businesses take the hobby chance cards because of this issue. But then with AL, they are now getting random promotions from getting 'networked' by townies. That's a lot harder to control, my Sim will be chatting with someone and out of nowhere she gets told the townie she's talking to is 'cousins' with her boss and she'll be getting a promotion the next time she goes to work. And the next time she comes home from work, she's promoted to 'unused 3'. Thanks, EAxis.  Roll Eyes

Yes, it is.
I don't know if this is relevant, but the newly engaged Sims are YAs.
117  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bad memory of an engagement on: 2008 December 24, 17:00:15
I just had the same thing happen in my game, a Family Sim, with no secondary aspiration, got a bad memory for his engagement to a Fortune Sim. The Fortune Sim got the expected good memory.
I have all eps up to AL, and I did patch FT.
118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apartment Life: Obligatory Hate/Love Topic on: 2008 September 24, 17:43:37

ETA: I also wanted to add that I've been playing an apartment with a roomie for a few sim days. He is starting to keep a schedule and act human, doing things such as showering, sleeping in his room, and eating at reasonable hours. After a period of him acting like a robot (replenishing needs on errands and at work, lame) I decided to make him selectable and "train" him if possible, or at least make him less irritating.

Has anyone else had this experience? Do they settle in after a bit if you leave them unselectable, or did making him selectable and forcing things along help?

I haven't had them settle in naturally at all. I've been using Inge's apartment fixes mod, in testing, it takes away their ability to replenish needs from errands and work, and I find them taking care of their own needs much better.
Inge's mod is in the testing area of her forum, but may be released soon.

I will look into this, thanks, caterpillar. I really don't want to micromanage a roomie, but letting him go feral was taking me out of the "realism" of the game. I am so spoiled now with Pescado's hacks...most of the time sims approximate human behavior, so this was buggin.

I know exactly how you feel about the realism. The zombie roomies were driving me crazy.
Here's a direct link to the thread in Inge's forum for this mod. It is nearly out of testing. The mod also makes the other tenants behave more realistically in terms of when they go into their apartments and when they hang in the communal areas. It doesn't stop them from reading your magazines, though,  Cheesy

121  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Apartment fixes on: 2008 September 15, 11:54:59
Excellent idea  some of apartment neighbors are so annoying I hate it when they keep going in out and they never seem to sleep.
I find the opposite problem, that they tend to run off while you're in the middle of a conversation with them...or even when you've forced them to selectableness and are giving them instructions!

I was having the same problem, Inge's mod helps a lot with that. Now they only run off on Mondays when everyone must pay rent, and to go to work.

How much would it cost to get 'Death to caterpillar' in the newsbox for a day?
123  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sell pet option not available after BV installed on: 2008 January 10, 15:41:57
I recently saw someone on another forum post that this problem was caused in his game by using an outdated breast feeding hack.

The tendrils look like plastic springs (in fact, they remind me strangely of comb binders).  Also, they fall bizarrely from the bottom of the bun.  It's obviously not animated, either.

It's also by Chaz, which means the textures all look like the Sim got very bad highlights. The brown appears to have green streaks in it.

I especially loved this quote in the description on the site:
This hair is enchanted with the whole glamourous and christmasy look.

Enchanted hair? I would think animating the hair would be easier than enchanting it, lol.
125  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Stupid BV on: 2007 September 13, 15:53:30
I once had my game insist I had uninstalled Uni when I hadn't, and said it would kick all my YAs out to the bin as adults. I hadn't even installed anything new since the last time I played.
I quit  & then defragged, and after that it was back to normal.
Don't know if this will help you, but a defrag can't really hurt either.
