26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Marrying foreign sims on: 2010 October 10, 09:15:02
Has anything changed on this since the last thread on this topic?
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,17740.0.html

My sim fell in love in China with the special merchant.  Yes I know it was a bad idea; I don't know what I was thinking.  He didn't propose in China, but came home again.  He invited her over, proposed and has the option to marry her.  I saved the game at that point and went looking for info just in case it was a bad idea.  The thread above says it's better to do the marrying abroad, so I took him back to china, but no options to do with the wedding come up at all despite serial romancing.  He hasn't got to visa level 3, so he can't buy a place and can't throw parties.  Advice please..

OK I suck - you have to go back to the first building again.  Embarrassed

I can't remember the names; it's all to do with Morucorp one way or the other.  The easy one where you put the bribe in the box has one big computer room.  The one I'm in has 2 rooms. So how do you get into the second room in the one I describe?  It should be easy right?  except there's no door - only a wall with no light that looks like it might be where a door was.  .... maybe I'm paranoid as well as forgetful!
29  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 July 24, 17:03:28
I guess it's not new, but I fell over another count resetting problem today - "cook 5 dishes perfectly"  The 3/5 at home became 0/5 in Egypt.  The fish count however was fine - my still has still caught 30/50 red herrings
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Egypt: Morucorp/Vaughan basement - SOLVED on: 2010 July 24, 17:00:15
I've completed this adventure with various sims including one very recently;  it's the adventure with all the floor switches and clues in stupid places - the Morucorp/Vaughan basement.  Unless I've totally cracked up, there should be 2 offices on the lowest floor; the big general office and the smaller office with the boss computer you have to hack.  I don't think there's any trick to getting into the second office; I think it's just a normal glass door.  Except, today there is only one office there and no door to the one where the boss computer is.  I went back to the last family who completed this adventure and re-visited the house to check where the office was, but it wasn't there either.

I did the adventure pretty recently, but I think it was before I added the latest patch & awesomemod update.  I've almost no cc - just a few Eaxis Store items and nothing new.  The current game is in a custom hood (Colonisation212) and the previous hood was the base one.

So is the problem my memory and/or buggy game or has the door gone missing?

EDIT - I don't have Ambitions.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Build Mode/Game Crash Issue on: 2010 June 09, 05:23:47
You can get Sims 2 to run on a lappy; the processor does the work a graphics card would normally do. It doesn't run well, but I've chatted with other simmers doing that.  Usually they stop about OFB, but Noodles says she has it running now with all EPs and SPs and just wants some help avoiding crashes in build mode.
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Still planing with TS2 anyone ? on: 2010 June 08, 15:30:28
Yeah - I confess, I'm not using the awesomemod.

Rufio- I went looking for an update of Simsheet.  The last post on the thread is December saying there's a new version, but the file link in the first post is for version 5 dated June.  Is that the latest?
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Still planing with TS2 anyone ? on: 2010 June 08, 14:58:46
Elixir exists, it's called Ambrosia and is a product of the fishing and gardening skills, although it's also an exportable product.
To get Ambrosia some sim in every household you play has to get seriously into fishing and gardening.  I find both of those very time consuming and repetitive.  And anyway I don't want every household to be gardeners and fishermen!  They're all too alike anyway.  OK maybe Elixir made eternal life too easy, but Ambrosia is too far in the other direction.

There's no "permaplat" in TS3 because TS3 doesn't operate based on aspiration levels and sims aren't constantly having wild mood swings because mood is no longer directly tied to micro-motive state.
I find my sims have bigger mood swings than in TS2.  I find it harder to keep them happy.  You have to chase after moodlets as well as managing needs and satisfying wishes.  When you've been playing a sim for a very long time, it is nice to be able to do what you want to do without micro-managing.  OK, permaplat was too easy to get, but this is too far the other way.

Don't need a crack for TS3, that just adds unnecessary complication. Various NoCD packages already exist.
Oops - I meant a noCD package. I'm wary of picking one up from a site I don't know.  I can wait - there's nothing I'm burning to do in Sims 3.

BTW - the sim I had most fun creating was a Nigerian hacker....  I stuck him on an empty lot and gave him the lots of money wish.  I tweaked the traits a few times; I think the last version was an evil, mean spirited family man as well as a computer whiz.

PS I haven't forgotten I promised you a contribution to the Community - just haven't done it yet.
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Build Mode/Game Crash Issue on: 2010 June 08, 14:36:43
I've no idea why it's crashing when you build walls, fences and stairs but not elsewhere, sorry Sad
You might be able to work around it by using Numenor's AnyGameStarter (somewhere on MTS2).  If you set up a separate game for building with fewer EPS, you should be able to build without crashing.  You can try various EP combinations for the building game, but I'd suggest leaving Seasons out because it's the worst graphics hog.  If you build something you like, package the lot and then install it into your full game.

You could also use the AnyGameStarter to explore what difference leaving out a few of the higher EPs makes.  Don't run the trials on your main game and don't forget that you can't take out M&G because your hoods are now in M&G format; they won't load if you take out M&G.

You know that you have to turn all the graphic options down I'm sure; no reflections etc etc.
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Still planing with TS2 anyone ? on: 2010 June 08, 14:00:38
I'm still playing Sims 2.  There's more to do and I had plans for all those Sims...  I'd say I know them all personnally if it wasn't so sad!  I'm working my way round the hood trying to get them all to the end of winter and making plans about what to do next.  I haven't got Sims 1 on this PC, but I've been thinking about installing it.  I've also bought more old games which shows I'm bored! (Guild 1, Emperor; rise of the middle Kingdom, Heroes of M&MV complete)

I am also playing Sims 3 - it's boring and frustrating, but not so bad with WA and Riverview added.  I was blown away by the look of WA even though the thought of tomb raiding Sims made me cringe.  There's a long list of things I don't like about it, but it's boring because I really don't care about any of the sims that came with the game or that I've created.  I guess it's the look of the sims and the houses and the fact their wants seem to flow in very narrow channels.  Do they ever through autonomous romance wants?  I like the fact you can move seamlessly around the 'hood, but hate the storymode idea.  I also hate the way the lack of elixir and permaplat status forces you to keep jumping through the same hoops.  Maybe it's the way I play. I'm looking around for other hoods to play and found a couple here which I'll install when I find a crack for the latest WA patch 2.7.7.  My usual place doesn't have one yet.
36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: SUPPORT THE MUNICIPALITY! on: 2010 April 03, 14:58:43
The link doesn't take you to any other site. I think you have spyware on your computer and just got phished.
Had a phishing mail just before that, but it was caught before I downloaded it.  I'm checking round my PC anyway & consulting techie son.

I'd donate, but I need to know what e-mail address works from paypal.com - I can't log in on paypal.com/us which looks to be where your account is registered.
feel free to point & laugh...
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: SUPPORT THE MUNICIPALITY! on: 2010 March 24, 10:29:21
The link is taking me to a site that doesn't recognise my paypal password.  When I go to paypal.com, it doesn't recognise your address.  I guess I'm screwing it up as usual, but help?
38  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: SimSheet (a sim-tracking program) [Now with Aspiration and LTW tracking!] on: 2009 December 02, 13:29:28
I downloaded this today for the first time.  The ready made list of sims will be really useful and the sorting works well.  I'm thinking about trying a rotation, so again this will really help.  Thanks!

Had you thought about adding the zodiac sign to that front page?  It would be really nice to be able to plan how to pair sims up outside the game and zodiac sign is pretty important for a 3 bolt match.  If I remember right, matchmaking was one of the useful things you could do in sims2db.

It took me a while to get my 717 sims imported, but I got there.  Still not sure what I was doing wrong.  I kept putting filepaths in the fields and closing the window because I didn't see a "Go" button.  Eventually I got it right and the "import" button became selectable.  That's when I realised that this is the "Go" button.  The filter hung a lot and boxes didn't uncheck, so I guess I'll filter before I make the next list and use sort instead.  I'm running Windoze 7 btw & am getting a regular C++ error, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was me.
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How do you keep sims files off your C drive in Windows 7? on: 2009 November 07, 13:54:57
With much trial and error, I have got the all the defaults off the C drive if not exactly where I wanted them.  Sims 3 and Sims Stories were very persistent in trying to put data on the C drive.  I'm sure I'll manage Sims2 when I get round to installing it.   Thanks..

Can you reassure me that mess in the registry from failed attempts gets cleaned up when you delete the links shown in your directories?
40  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How do you keep sims files off your C drive in Windows 7? on: 2009 November 03, 21:44:27
That looks promising and should let me put sims 2 and 3 and stories files in different places - Thanks!
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How do you keep sims files off your C drive in Windows 7? on: 2009 November 03, 20:23:00
Thanks - I've had problems with that 'Move' button not showing up or not being able to physically type anything into the 'file path' box.  I'm also finding different games end up in different profiles default/public/me, but I guess that's purely a cwykes problem caused by messing with Win7.

A temporary move is pointless though - is there a permanent fix?
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / How do you keep sims files off your C drive in Windows 7? on: 2009 November 03, 19:47:11
I've got a new PC with Win7 installed and have given in and aquired Sims 3.  I want to keep everything off the C drive apart from system files, but EA seem determined to put the saved games in My Documents on the C drive.  I figure the solution must be the same as for XP;  change the default location of My Documents temporarily, re-install Sims 3 and then move the default somewhere else.  However I can't seem to actually manage to do it.  Help?
43  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't greet strays on: 2009 July 09, 13:21:28
So there is something about exactly where you click on the animal.  Or your sim is nearer the head & mine is nearer the rear and it's the distance thing Pescado mentioned.
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The really real system requirements... on: 2009 June 25, 09:04:15
Maybe they've set the initial spec high so they don't have to upgrade it massively as they add EPs and upset all the people who bought a PC with base game specs and couldn't add EPs.  Sims 2 went from 800Mhz and 256Mb RAM in base game to 1.8MHz and 512 RAM.
45  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: WTF are these dog-like things borking my game? on: 2009 June 21, 19:41:50
Then there are the pets who appear in the phone book....   mostly the maxis made strays.  That's a known, unfixed problem.
46  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims not getting a promotion on: 2009 June 21, 10:26:08
This is why I don't have the harder jobs hack in my game.  To get your sim promoted, you'd have to abandon the family you are playing and spend ages locating the one where someone became mayor/education minister or whatever months ago and play them long enough to have the sim quit the job in question.  Once you did that you probably wouldn't want to have them quit their job either.  I pretend they're boss of a neighbouring town or a suburb or something.
47  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't greet strays on: 2009 June 21, 10:20:12
I've been able to greet some strays but not others.  Often it depended on exactly where I clicked on the animal - I'd get 2 options (shoo, chase off) on the head and 3 around the tail end (shoo, chase off & greet).  Annoying and bizarre.

I don't have interact w/o greet, because I didn't like it when I tried it years ago.  I'd interact with a sim only to have them walk off because they hadn't been greeted & I didn't like that.  Looks like I'd better review my choice now though.

48  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: WTF are these dog-like things borking my game? on: 2009 June 21, 10:11:06
Those are what dogs are supposed to look like when you tell the game to treat them as Human in SimPE, correct?

Is this local to just one neighborhood?  Or is it in all of them?

I've had pets who think they are sims and swear it's nothing I did.  Sometimes they just get screwed up.  No fixes that I know of though & I can't find threads to link to.  Not having a good day with search. Sad
49  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Sim with 6-7 lifetime aspiration benefits now only has 1 wtf? on: 2009 June 21, 10:03:45
Anyone have any idea how this happened?  I haven't been back into game yet to see if I can fix it by resetting the aspiration points using the Renu..Orb.  I'll update on whether that worked, but the How/Why of it is more important to me.

Charles is a werewolf and witch.  He has 6-7 aspiration benefits.  I'd been playing the family for hours and discovered the benefits and points had vanished in game.  I saw he had a point to allocate, opened the panel and found that all the existing points had vanished!  I also noticed his father was no longer family & he has a problem getting anywhere - lots of route fail where other sims have no problems.  Magivestum works fine thank goodness.  The rest of the family is OK as far as I can see.  I saved, quit and looked in SimPE.  The family tree and relationships are OK for both dad and son, but all Charles' memory tokens for motive modifiers have vanished bar one.

Charles lives with other sims and dogs in a forest, so it's a messy, laggy lot.  It was winter too.  Dogs are having puppies and Charles is studying witchcraft.  The HM has been and approved the family thanks to Charles cleaning up the dead leaves by witchcraft.  I have a fairly full set of awesome hacks in the game exc wfsanity.  I've edited memories for this family and it is basically a potentially buggy lot in a big 'hood (big for my PC anyway), but still.... wtf?

[UPDATE - the Orb worked - he got his 6 points back, but I still want to know what happened so I can avoid a recurrence.  He is clearly buggy because he refuses to climb even the smallest slope and has to magivestum pretty much everywhere and leave the slopes to his brother.  How do I fix that?]

50  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2009 June 20, 11:34:53
Maybe your card is better than mine.  I've got a radeon 9250 (one of the PCI ones) which is definitely under minimum spec if I'm reading the list right. I'm still not really tempted though.  Minimum graphics sucks for a game that's main selling point is lookinga nd playing better than the old one.  Then there's securom.  I decided I'd vote the effective way on EA's copy protection stance and not buy Sims 3.  I plan on holding out longer than a few months...
