76  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Faster harvesting hack needed on: 2007 April 17, 01:04:43
I was thinking of spawning some plantsims to be used as garden slaves.  I haven't done so yet.  Maybe JM will do a Garden USES you.

I've got two plantsims on my subsistence farm household.  I don't have a farmer's market set up, but I occasionally sell my produce just through the interface.  I've got two humans, two plantsims, and a servo.  The humans occasionally fish for fun and to socialize, but the plantsims take care of the gardens and the trees, fish, paint, and hold down jobs.  The servo does all of that plus chores and repairs.  I haven't bought them any food in weeks, and the humans can usually split a single salad or fish dinner and maybe have leftovers.

If I didn't have humans on the lot, I'd only be keeping the produce that would give me skill or badge points and selling everything else.

I also wish that we could transfer stuff from inventories more easily.   60 tomatoes mean 60 clicks.  Ouch, can I sue EA for my carpal tunnel problem?

One of my sims has nearly 300 tomatoes in his inventory.  I accidentally told him to harvest instead of sell, and now if I want to get money for them, I have to sell them the hard way: one tomato at a time.

Yeah, I know that weres age.  (Do they come back as werewolf ghosts?)  If I wanted to keep him from dying, I'd have his cousin vamp him.  Since being a werewolf tanked his grouchy/nice trait (and his wife was no prize on that front, either), I might bring them back as zombies, just to have some around the neighborhood.  Since none of my sims ever die accidentally*, I'm usually pretty sick of playing them by the time they die.

* I am making this absolute statement in the hope that fate will prove me wrong.
78  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What do you build into your houses? on: 2007 April 14, 01:18:10
My houses tend to be fairly basic (most start out as 2BR, 1 bath), but I make sure there's plenty of space in them.  If not for the ease of plunking down a Maxis/EA-made house, I'd never use them since they tend to be twisty mazes of narrow hallways and too small rooms.  I try to make my houses so that I can build an extra story up or down on them if I need to, which also means space for staircases.

Okay . . . for getting nibbled, I've locked the doors to pets so that the LOTP can't go into the house, gotten rid of the chew toy I had to keep him from destroying my stuff after I greeted him, and now it's just a matter of waiting for him to get bored and bite my sim, I guess.  Hopefully he'll do it before the sim dies of old age.

Also, thanks, Breyerii for the link.

When the wolf comes. ignore it. it'll nibble when it wants attention. (it's a wolf interaction, not a pc-controlled one)

Should I greet it first, or ignore it totally?

I dunno about the odds, but I've personally never had a sim struck by lightning in the Love Tub.  Or anywhere, ever.  I'm starting to feel left out.

I just mentioned this a few posts up, and no one has refuted me, so I guess love tubs are immune to lightning strikes.

Yeah, my post was part "me too" and part "but I can't say for sure because I seem to have gotten the special death-proof edition of TS2."

Cool, thanks.

As long as I've got a thread, is there also a mod out there to make is easier to get nibbled by the LOTP?  I've got a sim who wants to be a werewolf, and he's built up a 100/100 relationship with the LOTP (the Prima guide says you need a "substantial" relationship, but gives no numbers), but if I leave them to their own devices all they'll do all night is play razzle.  I've got the mod that makes a lycanthropy potion an aspiration reward, but I'd like to be able to make a werewolf properly.
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Servo and alien mods? on: 2007 April 12, 00:11:44
I've been playing a lot recently since Seasons came out (and since it beats studying).

I thought of two things that would make the game more fun (for me).

1. Make Servos stop autonomously serving food.  I keep my sims fed plenty well without constantly having pies, cakes, and lobster prepared for them at random.  Just clean the house, train the pets, and provide a father figure to the kids, please.

2. I'd like for the chance to be abducted by aliens to rise based on the sim.  Keep the baseline chance, but then add a percent or half a percent for each unusual "type"--vampire, zombie, werewolf, plantsim, servo--and for each skill that's maxed out.  I figure the aliens would be more interested in unusual specimens.

Are there any mods like these out there?
85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do you play your Plant Sims? on: 2007 April 11, 23:55:16
I'm still working on getting a naturally-ocurring Plantsim.  I just had my first sim hit permanent platinum aspiration in his teens (max all 7 skills), so I'll probably have him stay home and garden once college is over.  I might have to try the "farm market" idea.
86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Poll: How do you feel about accidental deaths in the Sims 2? on: 2007 April 11, 23:42:39
I have never had a Sim die accidentally, and I'm too soft-hearted to do something like wall them in a room to watch them starve to death.  The only accidental thing that ever happens to my sims is getting caught flirting (and that's only happened twice in all the time I've played).

The closest I've ever come was today, when I forgot that a vampire teen would still run like an idiot to the mailbox to look at his grades, even if he was going to school in a car and parking in the garage.

EDIT: I'm not sure I want more death incidents, but maybe make them a little more lethal when they happen.  Currently it seems like if you're even moderately on top of keeping your sims' needs satisified, they'll be able to survive just about anything.

... and of children becoming cold enough for the social worker to arrive after a very short period of time outside.  I figure readers here are a more reliable source, so are these actually common problems?  Is the children's temperature problem caused by hacks as the overheating is believed to be?

Nope, but Paladin over at http://www.simwardrobe.com/ has a hack that prevents the social worker from coming for that reason.

Thanks for the link.  I just had to quit without saving from a game because I couldn't get my child to stop building a snowman.

Speaking of which, I'd like a mod to make sims just stop building snowmen when I cancel the action.
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: Plant sims on: 2007 March 09, 20:18:01
I like Plantsims pretty much as they are, though I haven't made one of my own yet (I'm working in getting Puck in Veronaville to plantify).  I think the lack of child and teen Plantsims actually makes sense from a game balance standpoint--if you park them under a sun lamp, they can train or perform just about any task indefinitely (provided they take occasional breaks to shower).  I've currently got Daisy Greenman working in the medical field, carrying on a romance, and still spending ~12 hours a day making robots.  If they had three more age groups in which to skill up, plus the career boost from graduating college, there'd be no reason to have anything but Plantsims in your neighborhood.

However, I wish they had more hairstyles than just the one.
89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: What mods are you already begging for? on: 2007 March 09, 03:15:27
I'll add my vote for a "Become a plantsim" potion of some sort, and to burninate the "Plants Love Me?" behavior.

Also, when playing the Greenman family, I noticed that whenever the adult sims didn't have me telling them what to do they'd default to bathing Daisy whether she needed water or not.
